I finally got to try this place! I went to Makeke Market at Ala Moana a few Saturdays ago and seen a pop up for this place. They were pretty busy but they were pumping out the drinks relatively quickly considering they were making to order and not pre making matcha like I've seen at other places. I ordered a lilikoi matcha and it was so good, not too sweet with a hint of tartness. I would definitely get it again!

Nice set up

Interesting set up here. Aloha Matcha is nestled inside the back of the VSSL Union, in the Hale Mahana Building located at 2615 S. King St. 1st Floor. Both businesses share the same entrance door facing S. King Street. You will walk past the exercise floor section to reach Aloha Matcha. You may need to endure the loud noises of class being taught at the time. But is it worth it? Yes! Ceremonial matcha and Hojicha tea drinks are finely crafted here. There are a few small tables with chairs to enjoy your beverage here. There is a bathroom available inside as well. Parking on the street or next door building The owner Mayumi, is informative, friendly, and full of Aloha. Instagram @aloha.matcha.hi Enjoy.

Mayumi and her family are so sweet and kind! I love that they have their kids around to support the business. Outside of their service, their matcha drinks are amazing! The guava and lilikoi options are fantastic, and they pop up around the island all the time. Book their services if you need a matcha vendor for your occasion!

Sakura Matcha Latte

I heart Matcha... Especially when it's conveniently found right here in Mo'ili'ili VSSL Union which is located on the ground floor of Hale Mahana and with free parking it's an easy stop just turn on Kahuna Ln for entrance to the parking and park at any designated stalls (some are reserved) and just take the elevator down to the 1st floor and hang left where you can see the sign to guide you there. Just look for the cute hut in the back which is where all the magic happens and was so happy to see the various drinks they have available from the traditional latte to some to milk-free options that are like refreshers to something unique like Sakura which is what I got with Almond Milk was so nice to watch it all come together as each cup is hand whisked so be prepared to be patient. The Sakura Matcha which I also upgraded to Wakaba is a ceremonial grade from Shizuoka was a nice and had some richness to it went well with the floral notes from the Sakura was unexpectedly nice. The staff there is just very friendly and worked on each drink perfectly what I also loved is that there was a couple of tables and a comfy sofa area as well to relax and enjoy your sip or you can use any of the outdoor seating provided by the building as well. What really made it for me is their hours as you need to follow them on Instagram as it does change but some day are until 5:30pm which I'm so grateful for the extended hours so that I'm able to grab my fix even after a long day at work. Thank you!

Aloha Matcha is hard to find since it is in a Jiu Jitsu Gym but the Matcha and Houjicha are genuinely japan level good. The owner was rlly nice and the prices were good for the taste. Matcha 9/10 Houjicha 10/10

They have a Malama market today at Alamoana and Aloha matcha was there. The service is really good and fast! The owner is really sweet and she remembered me! They also have a variety of matcha to choose from and the quality is awesome. You can even adjust the sweetness. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte and it was delicious. It cost around $12 for a bigger size. Everything was great, the taste, the vibe, the service! Definitely will come back again next time!

Friend recommended this place. It's located near Raising Canes on King St inside a Jitsu dojo. Drink is solid. Tastes delicious and made with care. My only gripe is that it was soooo hot and smelly while we waited for our drinks. There were two tables outside but it was raining so there wasn't really a place for us to enjoy the drinks. Overall solid drinks though.

I stopped by here yesterday morning for a coffee and a malasada. While traveling I try to hit up a…read morenew local coffee shop every day and on this morning it happened to be Maleko Coffee and Pastries. This might be one of the only places in Waikiki open at 4 AM which is perfect if you've just arrived the night before from the East Coast. The inside of the shop feels homey. They have a display case full of pastries along with additional baked goods set out nearby. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a coconut latte and then ordered a blueberry malasada while my father went with a custard-filled one. At Maleko, the malasadas are pre-made but not filled until you order which I think is a smart move. I first tried my blueberry malasada and thought it was good. The dough was light and fluffy and the filling had a great flavor. As for my coffee, I have to agree with other reviews that the syrup made it overly sweet. I still drank it, but I definitely would have preferred something less sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again for the malasadas. As for the coffee, I would probably pass unless you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side.

I came in because I saw that they had vegan donuts. He said I could do guava, blueberry, or plain,…read morebut he recommended the guava. It was less than three dollars including tax, so definitely affordable. The guava filling was great, but the donut itself was kind of bland. If it weren't so cheap, I would have given it three stars. But it was a good deal and I might go back.

Ala Moana location - closed. Royal Hawaiian Shopping center…read morelocation - closed. This is the only standing Kulu Kulu and I hope this place does not close, or if it does relocate, come closer to Central Oahu where the rent is cheaper, haha (hint). This location is on the outer edges of Waikiki on Hobron Lane in Eaton Square. I rarely venture to Waikiki, and if I do make the dreaded drive to "town", this place and Kan Sushi will be the only regular places where I will make my stop(s), because its so worth it. I've had a long-standing love-affair with Kulu Kulu from the Shirokiya Food Court location with it's waffle bears and Hello Kitty waffles, the takeout Nama Chocolate cups stocked at Mitsuwa Marketplace and now here, in town. The Ube Coconut Mousse $6.95 blew our minds, it was THE best tasting thing, ever. Both the ube and the coconut were not cloying, and as with all of their treats, not overly sweet either. That's why I love Japanese pastries, they get the sweetness just perfect and I have no idea how they mastermind that ratio! Strawberry Panna Cotta $5.95 was creamy, flavorful, delicious and surprisingly light and refreshing for such a creamy dessert. I normally don't get this kind of combination of flavors, and it tasted like something you'd get in a Michellin-rated establishment. Looking back at the photos, I see vanilla bean seeds in the panna cotta, so every loving detail and nuance shows through with each mouthful. Nama Chocolate $5.75 is my go-to chocolate LOVE. It's cut into cool creamy semi-sweet squares dusted with cocoa and it melts in your mouth! This is my favorite of all things that Kulu Kulu makes. I actually enjoy this better than the famous Royce Chocolates from Japan. We ordered another seasonal Strawberry dessert slice cake but it was eaten before I could review (and/or taste it); I've heard it was very very delicious. This place is so good that I plan to bring my friends who will be visiting from Virginia here to try their pastries. I also plan to support this business for as long as I can and make more frequent trips to town just to get these amazing desserts.
