Very modern restaurant, very visually appealing. Ambiance causal and not too loud. Service was on point... two servers made sure table was taken care of the entire evening. Sadly the food was lacking, not what you'd expect for the price point. No where near the quality of Rails, No where near the flavor of NYC financial district steakhouses. Appetizers reminiscent of a college days visit to Houlihan's or TGIF. Main meals of lamb chops, lobster pasta, and Chilean sea bass were ok, but not what you'd expect for the price. Wow this place was excellent. Went with my family (4 adults) on an early Friday evening (6pm) and left stuffed. The ambiance was nice and the food was incredible. Our waiter was also super friendly and helpful when it came to ordering. The table bread: excellent! Nice variety and flavor. And the bread was hot!! I loved the bun with poppyseeds- had a nice onion flavor in it. Thick cut bacon: incredible. Savory salt bomb in the mouth. A must get. Lobster Mac & Cheese: the lobster was cooked very well and there was a decent amount of meat! I wish the cheese had a bit more flavor, but overall a solid side Ribeye for 1: my favorite item from the dinner. Perfectly cooked. Cut well. Massive portion. I'll be honest and admit I picked up the bone and cleaned that off. Porterhouse for 2: huge portion and also well cooked. It's clear this place knows how to cook steaks. (Notice we only got steaks for 3- this was PLENTY for all 4 of us, with a few pieces to take home) We didn't get a dessert but they brought us a plate of berries and cream. I had a fantastic meal at Allendale Steakhouse with my family this past weekend. First, the restaurant is beautiful, clearly just built/remodeled. Second, the wait staff was attentive (never had an empty water glass), knowledgeable, and even made some jokes with my mom who was having difficulty deciding what to eat. We started our meal with thick cut bacon and crab stuffed mushrooms. Both were fantastic but I am partial to crab so those were my favorite. Come with 6 mushrooms so it's perfect to share! However, the star of the show was the steak. We split a Porterhouse for 2 and Ribeye for 1 between 4 people. The ribeye had a fantastic flavor/crust and the porterhouse was very tender. Medium rare is the perfect temperature, but if you have people in your party who like it a little more done you should tell the waiter and they can sear a few pieces on the hot plate when it first comes out. The asparagus and man n cheese sides were good, but nothing special compared to the meat dishes we ordered. All in all, I would definitely return. It's BYO, which nicely saves some $$ for an already expensive meal. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Allendale Steakhouse & Grill. The venue is beautiful and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We all ordered steak, each cooked to a different preference--from medium rare to well done--and every single one was cooked perfectly, exactly as requested. The quality of the food and attention to detail truly stood out. Another big plus is that you can bring your own drinks, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. It was our first time dining here. Unfortunately our experience was not the best. The service was very good. The restaurant atmosphere was very nice. However, the food was hit or miss my husband's filet mignon was full of grizzle and hardly worth the money we paid for it. I've been to a restaurant around the corner named Savini that had a better filet mignon for less money. For goodness sake, this is a "STEAKHOUSE"! Get it together and buy better quality meat. And a word of advice, stop having your bus boy take orders for coffee and dessert. It shows that the waiter no longer cares about you and has passed you off just to finish up your table and get you out. read more

Great ambiance. The new place is definitely prettier than the old place but the food seems to be missing the mark. The crab cakes and the stuffed mushrooms were cold internally. The Caesar salad was not impressive and quite small. The steak was cooked nicely. The mushrooms tasted like vinegar and just not good, we actually sent them back. The decor is lovely, however, the food is expensive and disappointing. Hangar steak was very tough, Caesar salad had balsamic vinegar which made it very unattractive. Not super impressed. This was mom's choice for her birthday dinner. The restaurant interior is absolutely beautiful. We sat upstairs and it was a little cramped. It's byob which is nice because I am afraid to see what they would charge for cocktails. I am not cheap and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the state, but get ready for sticker shock. This was beyond even Nantucket prices and I don't quite understand why. We started with the calamari (nice crunch, sauce was bland), oysters (big hit), meatballs and stuffed mushrooms (big portion but again bland). Three of us had the porter house for 3 which is massive (I did not indulge), my husband had the surf and turf. The lobster he had was ok and the filet was dry , he never uses steak sauce and had to use some (it looked like Peter Luger sauce but it was overly sweet). I wanted something light so i opted for the crab cocktail (massive and delicious, finally something good!) and a baked potato (all i wanted was a simple sour cream and butter. The sour cream is mixed with onions/chives which I loathe and a very odd tasting butter). The desserts that everyone ordered looked nice but I gave up on the food at this point. I asked my husband in the car if it was just me but he said no it was all pretty off. Disappointed and won't be going out of my way to return. My stars are for the staff who are stellar and the crab cocktail. read more

An oasis in suburbia! It's not Keens or Peter Luger, but they know steaks. Excellent staff, very laid back and magnificent ambiance. Bring your own drinks policy means you have to stop by the wine store next door but you end up saving money and the wine store is well sorted! I will come back. read more

We have been going to Allendale Steakhouse for years. We were so excited to hear about the new location. The next special occasion we had we made sure to make a reservation to go. This is one of our favorite spots for a nicer BYOB. The decor in the new spot is beautiful. I love how there is a nice tree when you walk in. We ate upstairs in the loft which I was excited about. A plus is there is a bathroom up there. We had a great seat, and service was excellent. They did not rush us at all. They brought both of our appetizers, one hot and one salad out at the same time and we told them we wanted to hot one first and salad after and they accommodated this. We had fried calamari which was delicious. Then we had the chopped salad and substituted the dressing for blue cheese and it was outstanding. The steaks are still as good as they were before, I love how they get a nice crust on the outside and still red on the inside. For a side, I had the creamed spinach which I enjoyed a lot. For dessert, we had cheesecake which was really good as well. We will definitely be back again soon! read more

My husband made a dinner reservation two weeks ago for my birthday last night. This was our first time to the new location which opened 1-1/2 yrs ago. The restaurant was lovely and we told the gentleman (possibly the manager or owner) this was our first visit and reminded him it was my BD. We were seated upstairs and the first guests in the entire restaurant. My husband thought we would have privacy since the room was rather large and unoccupied. As soon as other guests arrived they were seated right next to us, as were 4 more guest tables. We could not understand why they would seat everyone so close when the entire restaurant was empty. It was a Wednesday night at 5:00pm! We both ordered salads, filets of beef, two sides and fries. My husband's $68 filet was 1/3 full of fat and grizzle. The chopped salad was bland and full of fatty uncooked bacon, asparagus was tough and uncooked, sautéed mushrooms had no flavor and fries were soggy after my husband had asked to make them crispy. After we were finished with the meal, the waiter looked at my husband's plate and asked if it was ok, he said "no" and showed him the poor quality of his steak. The menu is pricy, however we never complain if the "food is up to par." We were very dissatisfied with the dinning experience and quality of food. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT! read more

Solid steakhouse option in Northern Bergen County. We had a reservation at 6:00 PM on a Thursday, and we were literally the only patrons there. We looked around and said, "Well, I guess we didn't need this reservation" but 15 minutes later, the space filled up and there was nary an empty table in sight. We stood corrected! My group started with the bacon appetizer, which was a tad too fatty for my liking. I know that bacon is the definition of "fat", but the amount of fat in the slab created a mushy mouthfeel. The temperature of the Porterhouse was exactly as we requested (medium rare). The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach rounded out the experience...both were rich, and a little bit went a long way. I don't think I've ever used steak sauce in my life (I always felt it was covering something up) but theirs was of the Peter Luger variety and quite good. Notes of tang and sweetness carried throughout. The pecan pie arrived at our table piping hot, along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Parking was confusing, but your options are street (difficult), behind the restaurant near the railroad tracks (less difficult), and valet (easy). Went to the new location. Outside of the building is a bit of an eyesore...all black and seems a bit strange for a nice town like Allendale. They did a beautiful job inside converting a former bank into a very nice sophisticated interior. There are two levels for dining. I have never been impressed with their former location and felt that their food was spotty at best. Ordered the Filet Mignon medium plus (pink but not bloody). Other steak houses always accommodate this temperature. My filet was well done with lots of cross grill marks. Flavor was ok, not great. Just disappointing when a "steakhouse" cannot even get a fillet done right. I wouldn't say stay away, but I personally will not be back. Better options are available. read more

I ordered the NY prime sirloin, and my husband got the bone-in ribeye. We both loved our steaks. Added bonus was their steak sauce - which was identical to Peter Luger steak sauce. Only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because I have had better steaks ...and the prices are expensive . The steaks are good , but not excellent where you would pay top dollar like they charge. However the winner of the meal was their tiramisu. That was probably the best I have had! I would still come back based on the service and everything else overall. Really impressed! Came with my mom for her birthday. It was starting to get cold out but we still wanted to sit outside with the pandemic going on so we sat right next to one of the heaters they had going. The service was great. Our food was delicious. We shared the salmon and a filet Mignon. Everything was cooked perfectly. We got mashed potatoes, spinach and asparagus on the side. Asparagus was a little crisp for me but it was still good. Experience team guided by owner, Eddie Veseli, the service was impeccable. Attentive staff handling our needs from filling out wine glasses (BYOB), to taking our requests, and serving our perfectly prepared meals, cooked exactly as ordered. It seems the owner/operator knows how to please discerning dinners. The steaks were tender and delicious. The sides were also delicious and generously portioned. We have been going here for a while, easily well over a dozen visits pre and post pandemic. I honestly feel this is THE best steakhouse in the entire area. Forget the expensive chains in the malls, this place beats them all. I understand that the chef previously worked at Peter Lugers and it is clear from the quality of the dry aged steaks they serve - he knows what the heck he is doing! Steaks are always cooked to the correct requested temperature (something I CANNOT say is true of Morton's for example) and are bursting with delicious buttery flavor. Sides are always great as is the lobster bisque, fried calamari and cut bacon. Service has always been top notch. This is a major pet peeve of mine, poor service ruins the evening, leaving the customers upset and frustrated. Never here though. For example, last night I counted 5 separate people, each with different roles, that visited our table. One opened our bottle of wine, another brought bread, our main server took our order, someone brought us water etc. THIS is proper, professional and coordinated service i.e. the way things should be! Appetizers came out quick and entrees were timed just right. No complaints. And who doesn't love BYOB? Solid 5 stars. read more
