Lovely new Greek spot in town! The patio seating area is really pretty. I loved all the art in the restaurant to make it feel like you're in Greece. I loved my Aegean shrimp pasta! Super yummy. One thing they are missing here when you order gyro platters is rice. It would be amazing if they could add that to the sides. The service was great and food was tasty. Rounding up from 3.5 due to the decor.

I had a great time at Meltemi! I'm preventing the 5th start for a little bit of a miss on my main dish. Still a GREAT time and really good food. I'll start off by saying, our waiter was awesome. Very personable and great service. I went to order a regular seafood item on the menu and was convinced to go with the special fish filet. Normal protocol and makes sense, it's a special item that won't be avail next time so go for it!? Right?!... mmm... wrong. It fell flat for me and was merely only "ok." I felt like I missed the opportunity to really enjoy my main course and should have went with my gut. But it begs the question, why a special if it was basically flavorless? The appetizers were awesome, we did a potato spread and it was delicious and textured and wonderful. I'm hopeful I'll return and love the next main course I do, but had to give the reality of my experience that I was longing for our main other Greek spot's food while I was eating here, little bit of a flag! The atmosphere is gorgeous, and the vibes are great. We may even be back this weekend, but they need some more flavor punch in the next main dish I try for sure! Check em out though, you may feel otherwise.

We decided to enjoy a Monday night dinner with some family friends at Meltemi, and from the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was inviting and friendly. The space features a beautiful semi-private room that feels like you've been transported to a Greek island -- the decor is warm, coastal, and authentic. We started with plenty of appetizers, but the highlight of our meal was definitely the fried and grilled calamari. Being 100% Greek and traveling to Greece every year, I can confidently say this is the best calamari you'll ever have in America. Lightly fried, fresh, and served with just a squeeze of lemon -- absolute perfection. We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one was delicious and prepared with care. It's also worth noting that the female chef is from Greece, and it truly shows -- everything tastes just like a traditional homemade meal from your grandmother's kitchen. We can't wait to visit again!

Came here on a Friday night thinking it would be busy, but there was as absolutely not bad in the restaurant. Food came out super fast and everything seemed super fresh. We ordered the whole fish, seafood pasta, lemon potatoes, gyro platter, zucchini fries and calamari . The calamari didn't seem too rubbery and not cut up like other restaurants where it's only the circular part of the calamari. These were actually big pieces of calamari. The gyro platter had diced pork which was amazing. I also definitely recommend the whole fish. Lemon potatoes I could've done without. Besides the food, the staff great and the atmosphere was nicely decorated. We did feel a little rushed since we were the last table, but they eased our thoughts with some baklava on the house. Great experience. Would go back again, but maybe not 1.5 hour before closing.

Chicken souvlaki pita

Good food, great service, very loud We had a nice first time at Meltemi, beginning with how we were greeted to the server bringing bread/oil and olives with pickled veggies. The menu has a mixture of platters, gyros, salads, appetizers and more traditional Greek dishes. Most of the main dishes are $25+ except for the apps and gyros that don't come with a side. The chicken souvlaki gyro was good for me, with not dry chicken and not oversauced ($13.5) though i wished it came with something else like a cole slaw, salad or fries. Getting a side will cost another $10. The spanakopita appetizer had very good filling and a nice crust. The zucchini chips were ok...kinda hard to wow, and the chicken lemon soup was also quite good with a strong lemon taste. We were full by the end but they did bring us complimentary baklava which was tasty but pretty sweet. You won't be impressed by the serving sizes but they were fine for us. The server was attentive and very much a people person. Food also came out rather quickly. There's two seating areas and If you're seated by the windows area it gets very loud and it's hard to have a conversation. That was surprising given the space wasnt all filled. It may be better in the inner room area. There's also outdoor seating on the sidewalk but no views. There's also a 3% surcharge for credit cards.

Three spread hummus sampler from left to right : Greek caviar, spicy red pepper hummus, and eggplant garlic hummus

Came here for a late lunch with my girlfriend and it was nice and quiet. Love the interior. Definitely felt like I could've been sitting at a restaurant in Greece if I think really hard about it! Servers were nice and attentive, even with only a few patrons for the afternoon. We started off with the three hummus sampler spread and chose the Greek caviar, spicy roasted red pepper hummus, and the roasted eggplant garlic hummus. All three were delicious and the pita bread that came with it was SO good. Crispy edges and super soft when you bite down into it. It paired perfectly with the hummus. I was boring and ordered the Parsini salad with grilled calamari but it was a salad that I would order again. It was soooooo good and the grilled calamari was cooked to perfection! Charred on the outside and really tender on the inside. It wasn't overly cooked and wasn't too chewy. It paired so well with the dill dressing and the feta and cucumbers in the salad! My girlfriend ordered the gyro which was an extremely generous amount. There weren't any complaints on our end! I would love to come back on a weekend when they're busier to see if the service aligns with the service we received on a slower late afternoon. Would definitely come back

Visited on a whim this spot that replaced "Greek to Me" and was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is very attractive with indoor/outdoor seating and comfortable setup. The service was friendly and attentive from the host to waiters. We ordered the lentil soup and chicken souvlaki platter, but had we been a bigger group we would've definitely tried more. Both plates were scrumptious, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. I wish the platter came with one more side and offered a sauce. Would also love being able to get halloumi added on. Overall, this was a great experience and I felt the price and portion was fair.

I'm confused by the previous comments because we just had dinner here for the first time and it was stellar. We had the 3 spread assortment (tzatziki, eggplant, potato), zucchini chips, main dishes were whole Branzino, and pork souvlaki platter. The food was excellent, waiters and owners were very attentive, water was always refilled without asking, everything was great and they topped it off with baklava that blew our minds, it was sooooo good. We will definitely be coming back here 1000%

Hubby is Greek and we visit Greece yearly! I shouldve known to just turn around and walk out when I smelled a foul fish/garbage smell as i passed the kitchen to go to the ladies room.... 2nd sign switz's were 1/2 the size(means left over from previous days) 3rd prices insane($18) for a 1/2 a piece of saganaki melted paper thin 4th gyro meat was so dry that it looked like sliced leather and tasted of that as well 5th as you can see I ATE NOTHING! Chicken was of pure orange color and loaded i mean loaded with garlic, yiayia wouldve been sad with the lemon potatoes they were old very old that they were sweet tasting with this garlic wet seasoning as if they scraped the pan and poured the drippings on it. 5th $8 for water they refill in a glass bottle and call it mineral water! The waiter didnt ck on us not once and didnt even ask when he saw my plate not touched! This placed opened in april it shall close april 2026 My predictions are 9/10 Lets see!

Delicious Greek food. Still in the soft opening phase and working out some kinks I think. Excited to keep coming back and trying everything. Looking forward to nice weather and the outdoor dining options. Looks like the front windows open for an inside outside dining room. Service could use some improvements. They didn't clear the dishes then came to clear the dishes prematurely.

What a let down this place was. The atmosphere was its only strong point to be honest. It's situated in lovely Ridgewood with a cute dining area. So let's talk about the food. The saganaki was made with Kefalotyri cheese which is the traditional way. However for $18 they charge, it's a sad small piece of it. Not lit on fire like traditionally served either. The gyro meat is another sad excuses. The chicken was way over seasoned especially with garlic almost intentionally to cover up its age? Not sure but it was gross. The beef-lamb meat was a tad better but it was very dry and that processed meat you would typically get from a diner, but sadly a diners would have been better. This one was sub par to that. The service was also lacking as well as no follow up once the food was served and no asking how everything was or if any issues. Just sad for a newer Greek restaurant. I don't predict they will do well if serious changes are not made.

Mike recommended the Braised Beef Short Ribs Kua Curry and Crab Curry and he did not disappoint! The short ribs fell off the bones and the soft shell crab in the curry was so flavorful! They both paired so perfectly with rice. We were so impressed that we came back the following weekend and I'm still craving it as we speak. As I sat down, I could tell immediately that the owners had a great sense of aesthetic design through the selection of their tableware and utensils and overall design of the interior. The light fixtures, mural and even the bathroom had an intentional curated look and feel. And this design-sense carried through to both the presentation of the dishes as well as the ingredients and flavors. I ordered the crispy tofu and fried-shrimp donut for my starters and shrimp Pad Thai and Crab fried rice for my mains. There was a slight mixup with the Shrimp Pad Thai and I got crispy pork belly instead of the shrimp and holy smokes, it was a welcome mix-up because it was fantastic. The thing that stood out to me most was how springy and fresh tasting the noodles were. The quality of the noodles transported me back to Thailand. The crab fried rice which came shortly after the Pad Thai - WOW. It was the star of the show for me; it was so incredibly tasty. The rice was flavorful, the egg was prepared so fluffy and tender, and the crab meat cooked perfectly. Incredible dish. Throughout the night, my table was served by, who I would later find out, the owners Mike and his wife Nana. They were incredibly kind, accommodating and Mike was so friendly and had a great sense of humor. Toward the evening, I expressed to him how fresh and springy the noodles were and he explained how he picks up fresh noodles and fish every morning. This commitment to quality is what sets restaurants like this apart. Excellent job.

The LA Galbi was absolutely amazing--tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal. Another must-order is the chicken with cheese, which consistently hits every time. It's rich, savory, and exactly what you're hoping for when you order it. That said, the soondubu (tofu stew) didn't quite live up to expectations. Even when ordered "very spicy," it was lacking both the heat and the depth of flavor you'd expect. It wasn't bad by any means, just a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the meal. The waiter was a little too attentive, kept coming up to us to ask if we were ready to order when we were not, and just kept coming and coming every two minutes. They give complimentary flat bread which is tasty. Our Persian friend mentioned usually Persian restaurants give the bread with herbs and feta rather than just plain. We did find on the menu the herbs and feta was an extra cost. We had the kebab combo and subbed cherry rice and salad (which is cucumbers and tomatoes) and also exchanged the ground chicken kebab for a chicken breast kebab. The standout was the steak kebab and the cherry rice. There were so many cherries in the rice, and it was both sweet and savory. I couldn't stop eating it. The steak was super juicy and well seasoned. I also really like the roasted tomato on the side, basil and pickled cabbage. We ordered a stew, think it was Ghormeh sabzi. It had a bunch of herbs in it, and beans and a dried lime. Was told not to eat the lime. It was a very strong and rich stew, I took a couple of bites. Don't think I could have eaten the whole thing. We stopped in mid-week for a family dinner after work and even on a Wednesday the place was buzzing. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny, which makes for a cozy atmosphere but also means tables are very close together. If you can, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The menu is somewhat minimal, but the food overall was good. I eat gluten-free and noticed the options were a bit limited, which made ordering slightly challenging. I ended up going with the sea scallops. They were nicely cooked, but the portion was smaller than I expected--five small scallops with some vegetables. For the price, I do wish the portion had been a bit more generous. I have to admit I left still a little hungry. My dad ordered the short rib grilled cheese and really enjoyed it. That was probably the standout dish at our table. My sister ordered the honey bourbon chicken and said it was okay, but afterward she mentioned she probably should have gone with the short rib grilled cheese instead. One surprise of the night was live music on a Wednesday. I usually enjoy live music, but since we were hoping to catch up as a family it made conversation a little difficult. The music was fairly loud for such a small space. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. They also have a rewards program, which worked out nicely--my dad received a complimentary dessert for his birthday. I ordered the crème brûlée, which was a great way to end the meal. A couple practical tips: parking in Ridgewood can be tricky. The restaurant advertises valet parking, though we didn't use or see it during our visit. If you find street parking, make sure to feed the meter because the town is known for giving out tickets. In warmer months they do offer some outdoor sidewalk seating, though it looks fairly limited. It also appears they have a happy hour, though we didn't arrive in time to try it.
