Rubbing where it should not

I am sure that people have had positive and safe builds done by All Seasons 4x4. I am not one of them. On the recommendation of some people in my Jeep Club, I took my Jeep All Seasons 4x4 to have a Metalcloak 3.5" Game Changer lift, belly pan skid system, new drive shafts, aftermarket from Dana 44 differential, and re-gear done. I will say that the customer service is OK. They were responsive and even sent photos of the build along the way-documenting the progress. However, there have been some potentially DEADLY issues with the build they did. The following list is what I have discovered or had issues with. I returned to the shop numerous times to give them a chance to correct their mistakes before giving up on them. My intent is not to just complain for the sake of complaining-it is to provide my experience and let others know that there were some things about the work that could have threatened my life or my family. 1. Within the first 50 miles of getting it back, the driver's side upper swaybar link bolt came loose and the link fell into the front tire tread and was bent beyond repair. Bob did get it replaced which is fine, but the passenger link came loose within the next 500 miles. Ever heard of Locktite blue?? 2. The re-gear seems to be ok though while we were in the shop going over the work, the front differential was ACTIVELY leaking fluid on the shop floor. Bob let me roll out of the shop that way (I know, but I needed my JK back and couldn't leave it) and said they would fix it at the 500 mile break in fluid change. It still leaks even after cleaning the gasket silicone off and installing a lube locker-I fill it every so often and will get another shop to fix it when I can afford it. I am certain it is the pinion seal that is actually leaking. 3. Metalcloak makes the Game Changer lift easy enough to install by yourself without special tools. I had All Seasons 4x4 install it for assurance and peace of mind and a labor warranty. For some unknown and unnecessary reason, All Seasons 4x4 extended the control arms too far out and lengthened my wheelbase by almost 2.5". This caused a very squirrely handling experience on road. Tons of bump steer and instability. I contacted Metalcloak and they confirmed there was no good reason to extend the wheelbase. The lift was shipped plug and play. I would have installed it myself but I am renting a place without a good area to do it. 4. Frustrated, I printed out the Metalcloak install manual and discovered that they installed the rear track bar BACKWARDS. This and the wheelbase issue caused the trackbar to partially crush my exhaust pipe where it goes up over the rear axle. I have since flipped it to the proper position. The track-bar installed the wrong way also caused a really annoying clunking sound when it hit the differential cover (which it is not supposed to do). 5. Bob even noted that the rear springs were bent and the top and bottom perches were not aligned. Another result of the lengthened wheelbase issue. 6. The rear brake lines were not secured properly and rubbing against the shocks-yikes! Given enough time, this could have resulted in brake failure. The shop did fix this for free after I pointed it out but it should not have happened in the first place. 7. I had a Teraflex Tera44 front axle installed. The shop could not initially figure out how to install the drag link and track bar to it and there was HUGE SCARY torque steer. In addition, the bolts and mounting brackets were smashed by the drag link when there was moderate articulation. They noodled around for quite a while before calling Teraflex for advice. Eventually they attached things properly. The bolts and brackets are still damaged. 8. They outsource alignments to another shop and from what I understand, that shop does not specialize or have any expertise with lifted vehicles. This was verified when I had the alignment checked and the caster was WAY out. 9. The rear electronic locker wire was not fully plugged together and came apart on the first offload obstacle. Not really life threatening, but bad QC 10. The front drag link and track-bar were installed and nearly touching when they should be 3-4" apart and parallel. You can see where they were rubbing together in the pictures I posted above. Again, they fixed it after returning to the shop another time. I found these issues out on the trails which is not an ideal place to be doing quality control! I do not trust anything about the work done to my Jeep. I cannot guarantee that it is safe to drive or will not fail me while I am in some remote place. I literally spent thousands of dollars there. After my experience, I would not take my Jeep back there to have anything done-not even a tire rotation! Since my last trip to have their work fixed, Bob has yet to reach out and follow up to see how things are going.

I emailed them from their website for info about getting some work done to my Jeep. They never replied. Very unprofessional.

All Seasons 4x4 was able to quickly identify the clunking on my Rubicon that nobody else had been able to isolate.

Got it back after a few short days and will be getting some further work done as time goes on. This truck had belonged to my former landlord whereupon his daughter sold it to me as the old boy had gone to a retirement facility. In his later years maintenance and repairs had been let go but being sturdy and strong running, I bought it and am slowly bringing it up to snuff and it is good in the event I should need to do any long distance traveling with it. . Attended the new shop opening, located just off I-25 and Colorado route 66, where I met Mr. Maggio's family and some of the other customers who call Hands On Autotech their home for vehicle repair and servicing. I first went there based on the recommendation of the Martino troubleshooter show on 630 KHOW AM radio; 10 AM - 2PM, M-F. My opinion is that Tom's shop takes something of a scientific approach to vehicle repair and will go more in depth with an analyses than another shop I had been to for an issue with my '99 Tahoe. As an EV owner himself I gather that Tom is up on the current tech, perhaps more than some other places who would have men of my age (68) from the "dinosaur era" of automotive tech working at their shops.

There was a problem with the communication surrounding the tow transfer so I started my experience with Hands on Auto Tech with some trepidation. Tom handled the situation and we moved onto the real problem with my truck. The diagnosis was the clutch so I approved the repair and waited a few days for the parts to arrive and the repair to proceed. After the clutch was replaced another problem with the operation of the clutch was discovered so I agreed to the additional repair and another day for repair. After a week I was reunited with my truck. The repair was costly, lengthy and unexpected but coming out the other side of this experience I learned a couple of lessons. 1. If you have your vehicle towed to a shop follow the tow truck to the shop and verify the transfer. 2. Communication and follow up throughout the repair are key Tom was great to deal with and I feel that he was honest with me about the repairs needed and the cost of those repairs. Having recently moved to the area I feel my vehicle maintenance and repair needs can be checked off the list. I can recommend Hands on Auto Tech to anyone needing an honest repair facility and Tom as a good guy to deal with.
