1st Review Sep 2017 I want to say that Verner and his staff do an excellent job and Luke, one of his technicians, did an amazing job on my Volkswagen DOKA transporter that I imported from Europe. Many extensive repairs were needed and some were not typical of the US vanagons and Verner and Luke were able to identify the correct parts and service needed for this European model. This is my daily driver and it's a blast thanks to Verner and his crew. NEW REVIEW 02 OCT 2018: (Approximately 1 year later) 5 stars!! Once again Verner and his staff (especially Luke) have done an amazing job on my 1989 16" Euorpean T3 DOKA Transporter / vanagon. I had Verner replace the entire suspension on my Double cab 16 " VW truck. All bushings front and rear, shocks, tie-rod ends, ball joints etc... The truck rides great! Not only did they do another fantastic job, but their attention to detail with the specific requirements to my European 16" truck were handled and taken care of in an expert manner. And if that wasn't enough, they identified a serious problem with my fuel system that could have been catastrophic and could have burned my vehicle to the ground, which was also repaired. With all that said, Verners Automotive also has the best shop rate that I have found here along the front range with the best service and repair. I wouldn't recommend any other mechanic in the area! VERNER took care of my car and took care of me, solving a 2 months problem in just one evening. He was honest, trustworthy, fast and economic. Can you ask for anything else? My story: Last winter my car stop in the middle of the road, I took the car to 4 mechanics.....and this was the process: *1st Shop_Road Masters(SouthBoulder): 2 days // After expending $900 less than one week before!!!!......the Estimate was: $2.800 followed by the argument that my car was too old and that It would be better to buy a new one, instead of fixing it. *2nd Shop_John's Auto Care: 1week // Estimate: $3.000. I paid $100 JUST to check the car. *3rd Shop_Green Garage: they tell me that both shops before are selling me BS!...and that they will give me new pieces, but probably would be expensive. ****4th Shop_ Verner's: AN EVENING// No estimate. $198 and MY CAR WORKed PERFECT, and still didn't have any problem!!!!! It is obvious that CAR MECHANICS take advantage of woman who doesn't know about cars. That is why I wouldn't bring my car to any other mechanic other than VERNER! Verner rocks! They have been taking good care of my 1995 VW Gulf for many years now. It has more than 230,000 miles on it and still going strong. They totally understand the balance with an old car of trying only to fix what is necessary and crucial to the car. They are patient with providing information and explanations about what needs to be repaired and why. And they know VWs very, very well. I've had them work on my new Toyota truck as well and am very satisfied with all their work. As for customer service, they go above and beyond. I have moved twice out of Boulder and still call Verner for advice on my car. Whenever feasible, I drive the car back to Boulder to have Verner work on it -- he is that good and that reliable. Verner Rocks! My son and I had VW Eurovan issues while vacationing in Rocky Mountain National Park from Oregon. Verner instantly got us in and diagnosed the problem. This was a problem that a mechanic in Oregon had misdiagnosed and failed to fix properly prior to our trip. Verner had us back on our vacation within 6 hours! He did several free computer checks on the van before our return to Oregon to make sure we were safe and sound. We had a side bonus that we love to ride mountain bikes and cyclocross. Verner is a bike enthusiast and his shop is next to a cool bike park in Boulder called Valmont. After one visit with my Jetta TDI, I was hooked on Verner's and will never go back to a dealership garage. I was experiencing power loss on hills, and the dealer wanted to replace the entire turbo for $2,000. Verner took a look and found a gasket that wasn't sealing, and had me out for $200. His team is everything you want in a shop: Deeply knowledgable, straight talking, fairly priced, and best of all inventive. I've been bringing my car there for five years now, and no matter how arcane the problem seems to be, they find a way to detect and fix it. And the work has held up. We've been taking our 1993 EuroVan Weekender to Verner's for the past 7+ years and about 40,000 miles' worth of driving. In this time, Verner has been exemplary in everyway: fixing what needs to be fixed, and always with the highest level of integrity and fairness. A good example of Verner's style is that we once found ourselves stranded in Lake Tahoe with some electrical issue. Verner McCall must never be allowed to retire! He was recommended to me by my brother in law, who had a Vanagon. Verner and his crew have kept my 1974 Super Beetle in top running order for the last 20 years, always helpful and timely, never ever overcharging or performing anything unnecessary. He put in a pushbutton system for my windshield wiper fluid so that it didn't run off the pressure of the spare-GENIUS! he even talked me through changing the alternator(?) belt in my own garage once. VERNER'S is a fantastic repair shop!! I have a 2000 VW Passat and they have kept it running like a champ ever since I got it! When I first got the Passat, it was leaking oil, and since they fixed it, it has not leaked a drop! My car has over 150,000 miles on it but with VERNER'S work I would be willing to drive it across the country today! With out their help it probably would not even make it around the block! The do excellent work at affordable rates! They don't do un-necessary work and they don't try to upsell me to all this other crap that I don't want or need! Great place! I first brought my 2003 VW Jetta Wagon to Verner for a problem that no one could fix. Verner the expert sleuth figured it out! Apparently my coolant was dripping onto electrical in minuscule doses, but enough to keep my engine fan running way after the car was turned off. This drained the battery. Ugh! Until Verner figured it out, I was pulling fuses each time I turned the ignition off. Since then, Verner has been keeping the car on the road affordably. Verner is honest and trustworthy. My 1988 VW Vanagon needed some repairs done and the place where I got my tires rotated recommended Verner's and I'm so glad they did. They replaced my entire rear brake system, replaced 2 cv joints and axles, and identified many issues that I was unaware of, mostly various leaks. Verner walked me through every issue and helped me understand what needed to be done and why. He was very accommodating to my travel schedule and took great care of me and my Vanagon. He's the owner and the only person you will be talking too and he doesn't like to give you the run around. Verner's is a shop that makes you reconsider all the rotten things people have to say about auto repair places. I took my 2000 Passat V6 to his guys all the years (10) I lived in Boulder and they kept it running like a train. Even though I don't live there anymore, I have still called Verner on several occasions for advice and to tap his crystal ball about what's likely to go wrong. I needed major service on my 2010 Tiguan and I took the vehicle to Verner's. GREAT place. They answered my questions and let me look at the parts they removed from the car. I did have them install a used engine in the Tiguan and now it runs great. Very happy with the work they did. They also were kind enough to re-program my vehicle's computer to remind me to change the oil at a different service interval - they did this for FREE! Very nice. Very friendly, and they are always trying to fix things as cheap as possible for you, while doing a great job. They seem to really care about their customers and want them back.
