We are SO disappointed in this restaurant located in a beautiful patio setting, but we thought the food was terrible. Now this is a very expensive restaurant and we expected the food was supposed to match the prices. We have frequented other high end restaurants and them quite good. Here's our reasoning for the one star rating. The Lobster Bisque was barely warm and tasteless as though it came from a generic food service can. My wife ordered the Duck Salad and the duck was inedible as it was seriously overcooked. The Chicken Milanese, while a large piece of chicken breasts, was overly breaded and too crusty. The bread saved the day as it was fresh and tasty. The service was ok. We will NOT return on our next visit to Naples. read more

We have had dinner at Alexander's several times and it just seems to get better each visit. We always sit at the bar and watch all the delicious looking food come out of the kitchen. We order something different each time and have loved everything. We also like the bar because we get to be served fabulous drinks by Jim who is personable and the utmost professional bartender....we never sit anywhere else because of him. this place was next to our hotel but hidden behind a pilates joint. at night they have a huge outdoor area with torches, fire pits and attractive lighting which caused us to wander in. Packed, friendly bar with generous drinks. big american menu. waygu beef strip is excellent. great service. a bit expensive but worth it. closes mid afternoon, Sundays and most of the summer. read more

I would give it a 4 for food, as our meals were good. I always enjoy the grouper and my husband enjoyed the miso sea bass. I would give dining service high marks, as John is always professional, friendly, and attentive without hovering. I'm giving it 2 stars for customer service. We have been coming here for years. I always make reservations WEEKS in advance, so we can sit inside at the table for two by the window. When we arrived (5 min early) the two giggling hostesses said they had just given our table away. No apology or "we have another nice table for you in the dining room". It was a rainy, chilly night and I refused to be seated outside or at some dark little table shoved alongside the bar. I insisted we be seated in the dining area, as I had made reservations over 3 wks in advance. If it hadn't been 6:30 Christmas Eve, we would have walked out. They have very little concern for returning customers or new customers, judging by some other reviews on here. The hostess position requires a professional manner and common sense enough to at least apologize when you mess up, as it's the first impression and sets the tone for the entire evening. Very frustrating experience. My parents went there for their 55th wedding anniversary and my sister and I decided to call in advance with our credit card to pick up the bill and to inform the restaurant of the special occasion. We could not get through during the day, but left a message of our intent that did not get returned. When I finally go someone to answer she was rude, but took my information to cover the bill. My parents had a fair meal (it was delivered cold and the crispy duck was mushy), but the worst of it is they did not acknowledge that it was their 55th anniversary and they allowed my father to pay the bill AND they charged MY credit card also. My parents had no idea we picked up that tab. When they checked their credit card statement in the morning they had credited them with everything but the tip...which was also on my credit card (double tip!). HORRIBLE!!! read more

Maybe they were having a bad night. We arrived at 6:45 and were seated immediately. Drinks and calamari appetizer arrived promptly. Small portion. Not very good. We then waited until 9:00 for our entrees. The waiter told us that he has been amazed how such a small kitchen can serve so many people so quickly. Not last night. When our food arrived it was cold. We couldn't. really see the the food because it was so dark. I had Miso sea bass (I think). The fish (whatever it was) was not fresh and the Miso was a burned crust. They have set up dozens of tables outside to add to their capacity. Obviously too many for them to serve. It appears that their reach exceeds their grasp to the detriment of their diners. My window seat overlooking the outdoor patio only helped this delicious mozzarella, tomato and prosciutto salad bring complete satisfaction to my visit. My waitress Ana was well trained and kind. This was our first time dining here! Our reservation was for four at 5:45 and we were seated by a lovely young lady. We were served water right away and our server, Jon took our drink order. When he brought our drinks he told us what the specials were. We said we would enjoy our drinks and peruse the menu. He came back ad asked if we had any questions. We said we would like another drink kn 5 minutes and then place our order. I ordered the raw oysters and they were the best I had in a long time, they left the natural juices in them and that adds to the flavor. I ordered the Duck Breast special and it was fantastic. The Lobster Ravioli was full of Oysters. The Veal special was special as it was prepared put thin in the top 5. without breading and was very tender. The Filet Mingon was done to perfection. We had one of the best meals in Naples and we are definetly coming back. There are so many great places in Naples that are unique and great! I would put this in the top 10. Visited this restaurant on Saturday! The food was great, great atmosphere. They were very busy, but had great service. The waiters were working very hard, as well as the hostess! This cute little restaurant that is really a little hidden gem gets only 3/5 because of my inept ordering skills. So technically, it could be considered my fault. Oh well. I'm the one writing... The mushroom and goat cheese with phyllo dough appetizer was flaky, creamy, and delicious. But with those ingredients, what wouldn't be? Seriously. For my main, I ordered the mussels. They were a bit fishier tasting than any I'd ever had, but the real issue was the lack of broth. There was about 3 tablespoons of liquid, which I thought was weird. Maybe it's a preference thing, but there isn't anything much better than dipping really good bread into that buttery creamy broth. Except there was none. Sads. Dessert was alright - we had the mini key lime pie (can't go wrong there), the Greek yogurt healthy option (I wanted my parents and grandma to try it for the first time), and the Snickers pie (didn't taste anything like Snickers, but I was told it was alright). If you go - don't let the health menu scare you off - we ordered two options from it and they might have been the best things we ate - the Greek yogurt previously mentioned and the butterfish with mango chutney. My mom got the butterfish and I probably ate more of her food than my own. It was SO good. To recap: order off the health menu. Butterfish is a yes, as is the Greek yogurt. Plus you can leave with a really smug sense of self-control while still getting to eat yummy and satisfying foods. read more

After a fabulous date night and dining at Alexander's I woke up this morning asking myself the question, "why would you eat on fifth Avenue, ever? The service was outstanding, and if you go, do yourself a favor, and ask for patio seating. Then the menu, whatever you want, they have it and is prepared perfectly. I went with the veal medallions which were out of this world, and my date went with the macadamia nut encrusted grouper which was simply fabulous. Such a refreshing change to be pampered in a quiet, romantic setting that I just cannot get enough of! This restaurant is an absolute gem and is a must dine at next time you're in Naples. If they would let me I would give it seven stars instead of only the five that they're letting me. read more

This is the fourth time I've eaten here this year. It had become one of our favorite restaurants when we want a classy restaurant to go to. Tonight it all changed. The server we had, John, was a total flop. It started with our first drinks. There were four of us and we all ordered a cocktail before dinner. It was during their happy hour so we chose two drinks that were supposed to be discounted 50% and at the same time ordered 3 wines that were also would be discounted because of happy hour and asked the waiter to bring them before our dinners were served. He said he could do that so we could get the happy hour price. Our dinners came but no wine. When we finally got him to come to the table we were halfway done with our dinners and he said he forgot about our wine but would get them to us right away. 10 minutes later we got our wine as we were finishing our dinners. We all figured they were just very busy and let it slide. When the bill came he not only charged full price for our happy hour cocktails but also for the wines that were also to be happy hour price. When we questioned him about the excess charge he said that we were "trying to slide in the wines after happy hour". We reminded him that we ordered them during happy hour but he forgot to bring them in a timely manner. This was my wife's birthday dinner with our of out town friends and we were humiliated. Food was as good as ever but I don't appreciate being insulted in front of friends after spending $250 for a meal that we had to constantly track down our waiter to get what we ordered. We will not be back for a while and hope this waiter, John, will not be serving us again. In fact if his is assigned to be our server we will leave. Beware. read more

While the food was tasty, the take out experience was alarming. The waiter who was coordinating the food pickup, was properly dressed with mask and gloves. However, the women who brought out additional orders including ours had no gloves on nor a mask. And she proceeded to hand me the bags of food instead of letting us take them off the cart. This is unacceptable and unsafe. I asked the young gentleman to please remind her to wear gloves and safety gear. read more

First timer. Exemplary service, well prepared fare, & serine atmosphere. Went there last minute for a late night double date. We ordered foie gras, mussels, and the caprese salad as appetizers. Our entrees were the crispy duck, macadamia nut grouper, seafood risotto, and the miso sea bass special. All were delectable. I strongly recommend the outdoor seating since they have a beautiful terrace enclosed with strung up lighting on enclosing trees. The outdoor area was surprisingly quiet. So, having had a house in Naples for 15 years, we had noticed the Alexander's restaurant sign nearby and decided to stop in on an off season Wednesday (5/19) night to see what was up. We entered through the rear, through the beautiful patio, and approached the hostess stand. We asked if they had seating at the bar, which was full, and inquired as to whether or not they had availability for two. The three 20 something hostesses condensingly replied that they didn't. I asked if they typically worked off of reservations, which they replied that they did. We asked when they might have availability. They laughed among themselves, and replied, "maybe next week." I understand that a good restaurant is in high demand, and good help is hard to find, but this flippant and condescending attitude by the face of the restaurant is not something I will tolerate. There are many fine dining options in the area and this attitude exuded by these hostesses was very put-offish. May be a great place, but we won't return. Can't opine to the quality of the food, but the service was a deal killer for us. Dined at Hogfish Harry's, which is the bomb. Check it out. read more

I invited friends who had never been to your restaurant for Saturday early dining. I raved about our experience a few weeks ago on a Monday night and was excited that she was able to get a reservation. How disappointed we were! First, we asked the waitress about the glass of wine included with the prefixe dinner. She didn't know anything about it, checked with someone inside, and told us that a glass of wine was not included! We have an email advertising this, but couldn't pull it up at the time, so we opened a bottle of wine that we brought and the $25 corkage fee was charged as per restaurant policy. Our meals were mediocre at best. My friend requested well done salmon, but it came out undercooked and was returned for more cooking. Her husband's tenderloin was fatty and chewy. My husband and I ordered the pasta with duck which sounded delicious, but was disappointingly lacking in flavor, and the duck was chewy as well. The best part of the meal was the carrot soup! After raving about your restaurant, I was so disappointed that I had invited these dear friends, who tried to graciously hide their disappointment as well. We generously tipped the waitress, regardless, but attention to detail was certainly lacking. Went here for Christmas Eve with reservation. Table was not ready , but the wait was not long probably 15 minutes. The hostesses ( there appeared to be two ) were somewhat confused and our table, when ready, was given to another party...temporarily until they realized their mistake between them. We were seated very far out on the patio...shrubs behind me. The first impression was that it was extremely dark and people were forced to use their cell phones for light to read the menu. There was a small votive candle on the table for light. Service seemed efficient but very slow.... When the waiter appeared to take our order it began to rain, not heavily but steady. He went to get an umbrella for our table but there were none available...then he went to check inside availability in case the rain continued. That was not available either apparently as he returned to resume order taking. Fortunately the rain started to subside and we continued. Very long wait for entrees and had to request napkins as there were none provided. My grouper entree was warm, not hot and it was really too dark to see your food. We had a reservation at this restaurant for an inside table at 7:45. We arrived on time and were told our table would not be available FOR AN HOUR. I think a sudden rain shower caused them to move diners inside. We were offered a table on the wet patio. We took it given our options at that point. My booty was wet from the seat and we sat for 15 minutes without a waiter. I went inside to ask for a waiter. Finally a server showed up. I had the worst dining experience tonight at Alexander's. It was my first time and my last time at this restaurant I had ordered the Irish Organic Salmon. When asked why "Irish" the waiter told me it was because they were grown in Ireland. The manager later corrected her saying it was just a name. I ordered my salmon well done. It was served raw. They took it back to cook it more. The problem is they cooked everything else on the plate. So I got my salmon cooked well done but also got burnt potatoes. The salmon was very fishy. So I never finished my entree. The rest of the meals served to the table were cold. The waitress was sarcastic and condescending The worst part was the attitude of the manager. Mistakes happen. A simple apology would have gone a long way. But she never came over to the table. Instead she chose to give us dirty looks from afar. When we got up to leave she rushed to the back of the restaurant to get out of sight so we could not speak to her. I spoke to one of the head waiters on the way out and expressed my frustration with the manager. He did not apologize either. He just said "ok". I guess "I am sorry' is not in the vocabulary of the staff of Alexander's. I cannot believe the business acumen of this manager. I hope she is related to Alexander. There can be no other reason why she would be working here. Do not waste your time or money here. There are so many better restaurants in Naples with good food and people who value their customers. I returned to Naples for the first time in two years and couldn't wait to go to Alexander's where I had had my favorite restaurant meal of all time on my previous trip. We sat in the courtyard and the weather was just perfect. Our server Bridgette and back waiter Sam were great. Being the Saturday night of Easter weekend we had to wait a little while for our entrees but we had some good wine so we were content until they arrived. I was a little nervous that due to the large crowd the seafood risotto would not be as good as I remembered it but it was just as good, if not better. This dish is just fantastic with the fresh seafood cooked perfectly and the risotto done just right. Family members who I dined with raved about their entrees as well. We dined at Alexander's delightful restaurant numerous times during the season in January and February 2014. The service was superb and the food was delectable. The lamb was a favorite, tender and perfectly cooked. Dining al fresco in the beautiful courtyard in the January is truly a treat. We'll definitely be back for more. read more

Looks nice. They act like its a high class restaurant. I'd compare the food and service to applebees. This is because they only had white napkins, plates where cold, silverware was not taken away after ever course, and table was not cleaned of crumbs before dessert. The only people whom would think this is amazing are the same whom think Olive Garden and Red Lobster are good. The escargot was over broiled, the Caesar dressing tasted like a spoon full of Miracle Whip, there was no mustard, no garlic, no lemon and no anchovies. So I don't know what they think they where making, maybe a ranch dressing. The duck was decent but bland no where near the best I've ever had. The Lamb Shank tasted more like pot roast. The macadam nut crusted black grouper was far to sweet it over powered the fish and the palate and was over cook. Everything was under seasoned or over sweet.
