We were recently advised to visit Alexander's Garden restaurant in Naples. This experience turned out to be quite delightful. The restaurant is not very noticeable from the street, but upon entering, it reveals a beautiful atmosphere. There are numerous outdoor tables in the central square, in addition to indoor seating. The decor is stylish, featuring a bar at the entrance. The food was simply outstanding. We began with the Phyllo Shrimp and enjoyed the Squash Ravioli and the Scallop Salmon as our main courses. Our server was exceptionally kind, as was the owner, Monica. They both ensured that we had a wonderful evening. It can get quite busy, so be sure to make a reservation and savor the excellent ambiance and cuisine. read more

Outstanding experience, loved sitting outside on a pleasant evening. (The place was quite packed!) Food was incredible, great service, beautiful ambiance. I can't say enough great things! The outdoor space is just so lovely, and the heat lamps are a nice touch for the nights it does get chilly. We started with two glasses of wine, they have a nice selection of wines by the glass and give you a nice pour (close to 9oz!) The bread they give us was so warm and tasty, and the butter was the best I've ever had, omg! I need to get some of that! It was creamy, slight garlic flavor, and had an easy spreadable consistency - right at room temperature (which is how it should always be served!) We then split the shrimp phyllo which was unlike anything I've ever had, and a huge appetizer too. Loved the aioli sauce that came with it. The phyllo pastry was unique and delicious. Very European. They had a ton of specials for dinner, so it was really hard to choose, but I went with the crispy duck and it did not disappoint. First off, it was a lot of food. Secondly, it was cooked to perfection and the lingonberries were a nice touch. Lots of meat on this duck! And the skin was so nice and crispy. We did not order dessert, but I was so tempted too. We had reservations for 7:30, asked to seat outside and we would need to wait an hour. Though it was our fault for not being specific, the manager or owner was super rude. Not personable or accommodating at all. Practically pushed us out of the entrance way and told us to wait in the bar. We have been coming to Alexander's for over 10 years and we were always quite satisfied with the food and service except for last Thursday when one of our guests developed what she thought was a form of food poisoning. When she called the Manager just to inform them, not looking for any credit, the Manager was quite rude to her and was quick to deny any possible responsibility for any illness that occurred from eating at this restaurant. We understand that this could happen anywhere but perhaps this Manager could benefit from some customer empathy and relationship training. John G read more

We came for a friend's birthday party. I chose the set dinner menu (French night) for 44$. The salad has no character (greens and a couple of walnuts) and no dressing. I had to ask for the dressing. The snapper was ok. The desert (the berry pie) was very peculiar : with oatmeal as the base (18$). In general I would say the dinner was not worth the money. The venue is nice though. Last month, we returned to a restaurant we hadn't visited in nearly ten years. I'm not sure why we waited so long--perhaps because there always seems to be a new place to try. Alexander's is something of an institution in Naples, having served the community for around 30 years. It's an ideal spot for outdoor dining, with a charming, garden-like patio that creates a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We arrived early to take advantage of their $45 early dining menu, which includes a starter and choice of entrée. That evening, we also added a shared Watermelon, Burrata & Tomato salad, which was thoughtfully split into two plates before being served. For starters, we enjoyed the Crab Cake with Lobster Sauce, followed by Trout Almondine and Mushroom Risotto with Shrimp and Scallops as our entrées. Both dishes were well prepared, though we found the risotto light on seafood. For dessert, we ordered the Three Berry Pie and the "Hot Love" Sundae. The sundae was, without question, the standout of the evening--vanilla bean gelato with fresh raspberries, topped with a warm raspberry rum sauce and Chantilly cream. I had not been to Alexander's Garden Restaurant in several years but it was well worth it. Although the outside table area is beautiful as the sun is setting, I chose to sit inside near the bar area. It was interesting to watch the very capable bartender work so efficiently while never stopping. As I waited for my order, several servers stopped to say hello including one who gave me great info about how to handle my food if I had leftovers-which I did. I started with the Black Bean soup which was very good although my taste buds would have enjoyed a bit more salt. My feeling, though, is to trust the chef. I especially liked the sour cream and chopped onions served on the side. My entree was the Chicken Milanese and I understood why the server said I might have left overs. It was a very generous portion. The Alfredo sauce was rich and creamy and the Milanese had a wonderful crunch. I had a third left to take home and just had it for lunch. The server's suggestions worked beautifully. I also have to mention, their whipped butter with a little salt and chives could be habit-forming. Delicious! We had a table of seven on February 12. I ordered lobster linguine. It was absolutely delicious! However, I was only able eat about a third of it due to filling up on salad and bread. I was so looking forward to taking it home. However, while I was facing away from my dish talking to someone at our table, my dish disappeared. Even though there was obviously two thirds of the dish left on the plate, I was not asked if I wanted a box or if I was finished. It was simply taken. I was so disappointed. I then couldn't even find our server to ask what happened to it. What a waste! read more

This was my first time trying Alexander's and I had an amazing time!! The food was all beyond delicious, and it was a very beautiful atmosphere in a garden area. Definitely very unique and you can tell the food was prepared and cooked thoughtfully, throughly, and with care. The service was amazing, but the arrival of the food was a bit slow. Wine opened, promised an ice cooler for white, but did not show up, ok, we got ice cubes to put in wine but no bueno. The appetizers, were enjoyed by all; a watermelon and burrata salad and Korean lettuce wraps with duck and kimchee. For main courses one member of our party tried the signature macadamia encrusted grouper which was excellent and a healthy portion. I opted for the veal ragout pasta and would Oder again. Without a question, worst service in Naples. Visited for the third time this season. Previous visits, service was always harried, but competent, food decent and garden seating charming. Today we waited 20 minutes for our entrees and 35 minutes for dessert. All we got from our young waitperson were cutesy faces. Will definitely not return. It seems owner's self regard for his cuisine has gone to his head. This is no way to treat customers, particularly when in a one-mile radius there's several restaurants just as good. read more

Alexander's was a great restaurant! They do get very busy at night so I highly recommend you make a reservation!! I got their beet salad which was really delicious I wish I had more. After that I got their mussels without chorizo and I finished the whole bowl so fast, these mussels were to die for! Accompanied by that garlic bread made this a meal worth wild!! read more

THE PICKY EATER FROM BOSTON Review: Alexander's Garden 4077 Tamiami Trail North, Naples Four of our favorite, longtime friends from Boston live here in Naples and we get together as often as we can. This was our post-holiday dinner and we wanted a special spot to relax and catch up on all of our Holiday shenanigans, and there were a few whoppers! We chose to meet at Alexander's Garden. Hidden behind a mundane façade, one rounds the corner and the Garden appears. The setting is a highlight in itself, creating a moody and romantic atmosphere. The lush landscaping and towering palm trees adorned with twinkling lights elevates the charm and provides a perfect backdrop for a special evening. So captivating, it reminded me of the Confectionary that Anna Magnani and Marlon Brando created in the Tennessee Williams film "The Fugitive Kind" albeit with a much happier ending...but I digress. Our Server, Putri was informative, attentive and totally delightful; as she was telling us about a menu special of Blue Fin Tuna, my Husband, who is a tuna fisherman, leapt at the chance to show her a photo of his own prize Blue Fin Tuna catch, 120" long, 921 pounds! She was amazed and asked if she could show the photo to Alexander the Owner/Chef. Within minutes Alexander appeared at our table anxious to hear the whole story of the behemoth Tuna. It was such a fun addition to our evening! Photo included for any fishermen interested. As we settled in, Putri was right there to offer us warm bread and to take our drink orders. The bread was delicious, and my Belvedere Martini up with olives with the hot rocks on the side did not disappoint, I'll give it a strong B+. As an appetizer, we ordered two servings of the fried Cape Cod Calamari for the table. I don't eat seafood, but was coaxed to try a sample...after the first tiny bite, a little tentacle appeared, so that quickly came to a screeching halt...but everyone else loved it! The dinner menu was robust and we were also presented with the Early Dining menu featuring two courses for $43. Early Dining is from 4:30 - 5:30pm and there are different, unique offerings each day of the week. The first course options for Early Dining included Shrimp and Scallop Ceviche or Crab cake with Lobster sauce. The main course choices were grilled sliced Beef Tenderloin with fried onions, fresh veggies and potatoes Dauphinoise, Seafood Risotto with shrimps and scallops, or Trout Almondine with spinach and mashed potatoes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals; the steaks were tender, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The vegetables were delicious and highlighted the farm to table commitment of Chef Alexander. I ordered a little side of Au Poivre sauce to finish off the Tenderloin and the potatoes Dauphinoise were a cheesy, creamy, dreamy delight. My husband was tempted to try the tuna but succumbed to the allure of the Seafood Risotto with shrimps and pan seared scallops. He said it was outstanding, the shrimp and scallops were delicately seasoned and perfectly cooked, resting atop a mound of creamy, risotto...deliziosa! None of us wanted to leave so we decided to order a couple of desserts to share; a luscious Key Lime Pie with Chantilly cream, shaved white chocolate and macadamia nuts and a Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee; pure satisfaction for a sweet ending. We added a couple of Cappuccinos just so we could linger longer. On my way to the ladies room which was lovely, I was impressed by the ambiance in the dining room, crisp white linens, sparkling crystal glassware and walls full of interesting original artwork beautifully displayed on rosy, amber walls. The dining room was cozy, sophisticated and distinctly European but choose the Garden if you can, and be prepared to be enchanted! Of all the things we enjoy here in Naples, having an outstanding dinner in a magical setting with wonderful friends is right at the top of my list. Had a reservation today for outdoor seating. Unfortunately the weather became rainy and when we arrived was informed that there was no indoor seating available. When I asked why they didn't call to advise me of the situation, I was RUDELY informed by the host that they don't do that -- we still had a reservation to sit outside even though everything was totally saturated. Our dinner was fantastic. We went with our close friends and had a wonderful meal. The service was excellent, and very attentive. We enjoyed a special birthday and it went perfect. The shrimp appetizer was spicy, smooth and good portion. The Caesar salad was dressed properly and with anchovies! We all ordered the Cioppino and it was stuffed with fish, shrimp and shellfish, the sauce was smooth, spicy and savory. The only reason this a one is that the server was nice, not efficient, but nice. Our meals came to us in less than 5 minutes after we ordered. So much for fine dining. The Halibut special had no spicing and was boring. The Veal Alexander was almost inedible. It came with a goopy, cloying sauce that overwhelmed the dish. It was so not cooked it was almost impossible to cut or chew. The ambiance is great, but the food is over priced and a waste of a evening. read more
