First and foremost, it impressed me so much I was enthusiastically greeted by THREE separate employees upon my arrival. This is my 1st time here, and that spoke volumes to me. To be honest, initially upon entering, I was apprehensive and the establishment was empty.... that was until I found out they open at 5pm and I came in at 4:48. This did not deter as some other places do and I was greeted as I was family. I had heard about their octopus appetizer, so that is why I came in AFTER JUST HAVING A FULL MEAL ELSEWHERE. While I'm waiting for my app, I'll tell you the ambiance is more romantic than I anticipated. Currently the song playing on their house music is "Sway" by Perez Prado with Rosemary Clooney. We sat outside on the patio which elevated our dining experience. We started our meal with the octopus appetizer which was one of the best we have had. Sat at the bar, made friends with the foursome sitting with me. The bar tender is very well known here and was very good taking care of my needs. Service was bad, the fish smelled like ammonia and no one checked on us my guest finished their meal by the time they came to check on us. I informed them about the fish and that didn't say anything, and took my plate away. They never asked if I wanted something else. They just walked away. I had to get their attention and asked to see a menu, then instead of bringing me a menu they brought me another fish, but only a partial piece. I guess they thought I ate the bad fish. The next fish was okay, not great but I was hungry. My guest watched me eat. Never offered any compensation or acknowledgment. I paid a lot for bad food and bad service. So when stopped into Venetian Village in Naples and was about ready for lunch. None of the eateries were really doing it for me. Along came James and I asked him where is one of your favorite places to eat and without even thinking about it, he mentioned Cibao. He made a quick call to inform them we were coming and away we went having no clue what we were getting into. Low and behold we were greeted with a great staff who seated us promptly. We ordered a glass of Rose and looked at the menu. We ordered a classic hamburger which is blend of brisket, ground chuck and short rib. I added Swiss cheese. My friend got a shrimp quesadilla. Let me tell you that the burger was so incredible that it needed no condiments and juicy is a mild statement with this full of flavor burger including fresh cut French fries. The quesadilla was full of all kinds of sautéed vegetables and cheese and very fresh shrimp. James stopped by to check on us as he was passing in the neighborhood and all I can say was Wow what an experience. My friend who is from Ft Myers said she would definitely bring her husband back as it was a most memorable place. Even the bathroom experience was grand with fresh mouthwash and privately printed towels to dry you hands!! A definite must go to place!! You won't be disappointed!!!! We have wanted to try Cibao for awhile and finally got there. Res at 6:30 and when we got there we only saw one other table. It filled up fast after that. We had drinks which were reasonably priced and BIG pours! We split salads and they took care of that in the kitchen which is always a plus! All four of our entrees were excellent, grouper St. George, pasta with lobster and shrimp, chicken piccata and scallops. All the plates were clean and we were too full for dessert. Service was very solid throughout the dinner..it is now on our list of great restaurants in Naples! read more

Ate there last night after not going there for 6 months. It was as always excellent. Service was great and food was outstanding. My wife had the filet medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. There steak is as good as any in Naples. I had a special, sea bass. It was a large piece, cooked good and served with broccolini. Wine pours are just as good as before. I'll give this place one star for the generous pour of our drinks we (myself, spouse and her parents...) but nothing more. We ordered their recommended 'crispy' fried artichoke hearts as an appetizer, which were anything but crispy! They should have called it 'soggy, cold artichoke hearts' which is an accurate description! We then ordered our entrees (the Walleye, Punta Cana pasta and Chicken Picatta which my wife and mother in law split) which came out cold and wrong. They split an order of Walleye for them and were very confused when we informed them it was the wrong entree. They corrected this after an additional 10 minute wait, all while we watched our server and the two maitre d's stand by the entrance and talk. The Walleye was covered with this thick, glue like sauce which completely overwhelms the fish. The Punta Cana was a jumbled mess of mixed seafood and also cold. So... needless to say we did not order dessert and waited (and waited...) for our check. I will never go back and would not recommend this establishment to anyone who's looking for a good, hot and tasty meal in Naples! read more

We arrived for dinner and were seated without a wait. The meal started off badly because the restaurant was freezing. We overhead other patrons saying the same thing. We asked the hostess if they could turn the blowers down. Surprisingly, she said no "because the chefs get very hot in the kitchen." You're kidding!!! You don't care about your customers!!! We asked our server and he did get the restaurant to lower the blowers for a while. My friend had fish which was bland. I had a huge steak that was not very tasty either. Because it got very cold again we decided to forget about dessert. My wife and I took a friend back to Cibao. The experience was stupendous as our waitress Jasmine was awesome. I ordered the special of short ribs and they literally melted off the bone and the taste was outstanding. My wife ordered the grouper with ginger sauce and it was delicious. Our friend got the signature scallops and could not get enough of them. The service was great with Jasmine being our waitress again. If you go here, which I would highly recommend, make sure you get her because she is pleasant, attentive and very knowledgeable of the entire menu. Coconut grouper!! Get it! Even if you don't like sweet fish( like me) I promise you will love it! To call this restaurant Caribbean is pretty misleading. Cibao has a lot of variety nested into a relatively small menu of 10-12 entrees. I highly recommend this restaurant as a date night place or a double date but I do not recommend this restaurant for groups. Last time I went with a party of 6, my food came out over cooked and I think it's because of the glass covers they put on the plate, essentially steaming the dish to the point that the fish was tough and the pasta was falling apart - not good! Cibao to me is a "Home run hit" when you it comes to a restaurant experience. From start to finish, it was perfection. For me things I look for in a restaurant are ambiance, good food and drink and stellar service. Cibao checks all of those boxes and then some. Immediately when walking in we were greeted warmly and seated right away. We were instantly greeted by our server and received bread service. The drink pours/sizes are fabulous and delicious. We had the caprese salad and Ceasar salad. Again, great size portions, wonderful flavor. For the main course we had some "surf and turf" action with a filet and scallops. It came with a side of potatoes and asparagus. Honestly, cooked to perfection. So flavorful and hands down one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. We ended with a "Cibao coffee" (like an Irish coffee aka delish) and chocolate, peanut butter toffee cake. Just like every plate from the evening, it was cleared and we were happy and full. Again, I would like to shoutout the service because it is truly top-notch. The whole experience at Cibao feels like family. It's such a welcoming vibe, I truly couldn't wipe the smile off of my face the whole evening. I would definitely recommend making a reservation as Cibao is a popular Naples restaurant. We eat regularly here and had dinner tonight, 2/3. Seated promptly. Ordered a glass of Pinot Noir which was obviously old -almost vinegar. Was replaced with a newly opened bottle. Why was the bad one served? One dinner was served that was supposed to have Bernaise sauce on the side. It was never served and the waitress never came back to the table to check if everything was alright. My husband asked for a roll -it was never brought. Our meals were mediocre at best. It is loud and you can wait 15 minutes just to get the menu. The servers are nice but totally overwhelmed. They take too many reservations. We have been here three times and have waited 45-90 minutes past our reservation time to be seated every single time. As a restaurant, you are in the service industry and making people wait up to 90 minutes past their reservation time is terrible service. What is the point of even having a reservation system if you can't seat people on time? The hostess is extremely rude and could not care less that you have to wait. The restaurant owners pretentiously assume that their food is so good that you should just be lucky to wait 90 minutes past your reservation to be seated. Just went for the first time tonight. The food was delicious! I had the Caesar salad for an app and the filet mignon for my main entree. My husband had the lobster ravioli for an app and the chicken piccata for his entree! Next time we go I will be trying the coconut grouper! We've seen on the reviews that the service was amazing and it became apparent to us that almost all the people dining were regulars.
