We visited 5th Ave in Naples. The place has so many Italian restaurants. We settled on this one. The outside had outdoor seating with fire torches to warm up their guests (given how cold it was, it was nice to have them available). Then the inside has a little hostess booth and past that there is a bar and seating all around. The bar had a lively football game on and people were really getting into it. The place has some interesting Italian looking photos. There is even a fire torch indoors. We ended up ordering the torchio which was fennel sausage, English peas, roasted pepper, and mascarpone. I really liked how the peas were a bit tough to bite into. I also liked the roasted pepper in the dish. The fennel sausage was delicious. The sauce really made the dish. Overall, this was a pretty good/average Italian pasta dish. read more

I'm visiting Naples for a few weeks. I happened on the Tulia location on 5th Ave early on. It was top notch. Great bartender, great food, great vibe. Would definitely go again. I sat at the bar and the bartender taking care of me was very attentive. The first drink I ordered (made by the other bartender) wasn't quite right, so he remade it for me (perfectly!) and didn't charge me for the first one. I started with the Misto salad, which was excellent. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the greens were fresh and crispy. It was so good I almost ordered another one. For my main course I got the branzino. That wasn't my plan but the gentleman next to me ordered it and it smelled so good I had to try it. So glad I did. It was cooked to perfection and the spiced made the flavor pop without being overpowering. Had a great time, so if you're on 5th and want great drinks and food, I recommend Bar Tulia. read more

Great place with great service and is open late. Well, late for Naples. If you are looking for a late night dinner, always call ahead of time because the kitchen is going to close well before whatever closing hour is posted. Sometimes it can be tough parking on 5th Ave South. Did I say sometimes? Since it is tough off season I'm sure it is impossible during peak season. Anyway... There is a valet at the corner for $10 - at least when I was there. The menu is somewhat typical Italian. The Caesar Salad - little gem, pancetta, black garlic, anchovy & focaccia croutons, was great. The pasta special for the night was even better. The food was good, but unfortunately the service, specifically from the hostess, really took away from the experience. We had called ahead and requested an outdoor table, and were told that a note had been made on our reservation. When we arrived, the hostess didn't greet us and then seemed visibly annoyed when I asked for the outdoor table rather than the inside one she was offering, which already set an uncomfortable tone. We were then seated along the pedestrian walkway in windy, rainy conditions. Our menus were literally blowing off the table and we were freezing. Meanwhile, there were several open tables further back in the covered area. I politely asked if we could move so our visiting family (who were in town to experience Naples) could be more comfortable. I was shocked by her response which was dismissive and unnecessarily abrasive. She told us those tables were reserved (we also made a reservation and were already there?) She wouldn't listen to anything I said, which was frustrating. It felt like she was on a power trip. One of those tables in the dry area remained empty for about 20 minutes while we sat there in the cold, wind, and rain. Eventually, she did come back and offered to move us to a more sheltered table, but by that point the tone of the evening had already been affected by her attitude. It was embarrassing to show visiting family Mercato and to be spoken to in such an annoyed way. I don't recommend working with the public if you're generally annoyed by people existing. When you're spending a significant amount of money at a restaurant, especially when choosing from so many great options in Naples, you expect not only good food, but also a baseline level of hospitality and professionalism and comfortable seating. Unfortunately, the attitude we encountered made the experience disappointing overall. read more

Ate here because of the reviews on Yelp and we were very pleased! We ordered the bucket of chicken and two beers . Service was good and pleasant. The "bucket " came with 4 pieces of chicken, ear of corn, slaw, biscuit and a ton of thin sliced French fries that were out of this world delicious! It was enough to eat for us both and took fries back for breakfast the next day ( heated up perfectly in the oven). The chicken was very tender and lightly breaded. Went to Bar Tula in Mercato for the first time. The hostess was so rude and dismissive. We asked to be seated in the restaurant, she looked over my husband and I and seated the woman behind us. She then proceeded to bring us to a table in the bar near the kitchen. We told her we wanted to be seated in the restaurant. She was annoyed and gave us attitude. It was 4:45pm and the restaurant was not busy so there were plenty of seats available in the restaurant. We ended up just walking out and eating at Hampton Social which was phenomenal. We have been to Bar Tulia on 5th Ave many times and loved it. I will Never go back to the Mercato location and wouldn't recommend it to anyone! read more

We visited Bar Tulia for the first time during a visit to 5th Ave. Although we did not get to sit outside, we were lucky to have sat with Gio and the ambiance inside was just as fantastic. The service was amazing. The food, fresh and delicious. We started with cocktails both of which were modern take on mixology. Our appetizer was the wood charred octopus. Wonderfully prepared. We had the wood charred Scallops as well as the Cacio E Pepe. Amazing tender scallops with an amazing purée and micro greens accompanied the dish. The cacio e pepe was al denté, light and delicious. Dessert of course tiramisu was the best way to end the meal. So light and creamy, took us back to Italy. Of course we had to end the meal with a limoncello! We will definitely return to Tulia and definitely ask for Gio, as he made the experience even better! read more

Great hidden gem in the middle of Naples! After a quick day at the beach - my son and i wanted a quick bite to eat.... Parking was crazy busy but we somehow we snagged a spot right next door to Bar Tulia! Note: we were not dressed for the beach and Bar Tulia was causal and laid back! Walking in, we found out that it was open seating and we sat by the bar toward the back of the restaurant at a high top two seater table. Service was quick and friendly. Thanks Stanley!!! Then we had questions about the menu... so we tweaked it a-bit and my son ordered a pepperoni pizza and i went for the Bucket o fried chicken. Two Ultra's in and our food came! Yummmmmm! The grilled corn was ONO Delicious! The biscuit was so fresh with buttery cheesy goodness! The chicken was crispy, juicy and tender inside and crunchy on the outside!! The coleslaw was ok. This review is based on the happy hour in "Nonna's Garden" which is the outdoor patio of Tulia's. We have eaten there twice and both were excellent experiences. FOOD: Outstanding. We had the chips, wings and ribs. The chips were fresh and tasty with a dipping sauce. The wings were so moist inside and cooked perfectly. The ribs were soft and flavorful, also with a dipping sauce. Each only $5. Even though the price was low, the quality was quite high. BAR: Great deals during happy hour and generous pours. The bartender made an excellent cosmo and when I ordered it not too sweet, he checked on me a few minutes later to make sure it was made to my liking. Classy. SERVICE: Geo took care of us on our first visit. He has a great sense of humor, is friendly and outgoing. Marissa was our server the second visit. She was pleasant and attentive. ATMOSPHERE: They did a nice job spiffing up the parking lot to look like a cafe. Some high boy tables along with dinner tables, nice table coverings and plenty of shade. In the back is a food truck set up for the bartender. The food comes from inside the restaurant. On our first night here, we ate inside and got the tagliatelle. It was OK. It's easy to make a reservation on Resy - we didn't have one but was seated within 15 mins on a very busy weekday evening. I love starting dinner with their complimentary serving of their caponata, which is full of eggplant, pine nuts, olives and olive oil with their fresh, crusty warm bread, washed down with a cocktail. We then tried their wildfire ribs, octopus and a bucket of chicken. All the dishes taste so flavorful, delish and cooked properly. They also served the full menu at this somewhat off hour. I chose to order the fried cauliflower, the cheese curds, and a couple glasses of prosecco. The prosecco was $5 each and the pours were generous. I wasn't expecting such a deal in this town and so it only made this experience that much better. I loved how attentive our server was even though the place was super busy. The noise control was amazing. I can't speak enough good about this bar. If you're trying to go to this particular bar, pay attention. It is flanked by the restaurant and an outdoor garden all under the name Tulia. My favorite happy hour spot (4-6pm) on Fifth Avenue. They have some wine and beer specials. However, they make really great craft cocktails and even though they don't make them a happy hour special, I splurge on the cocktails and get some well-priced bar snacks such as fried provolone, eggplant hummus, roasted Brussels sprouts, or grilled chicken wings ($8 for each).
