The best breakfast restaurant between the State line and the Fox River that I've found so far. I had the French Connection - the French toast with cinnamon butter and syrup was delicious. The eggs, and sausage and bacon were flavorful. The hash browns were done with crispy bits throughout. Andrea, my server checked back several times to see that everything was ok. We used to drive to the other alexanders at least once a week and this one is much closer...we have been to it a handful of times! Food is GREAT we love their breakfast and lunch options...servers are always super nice and today the manager came around and did table touches and even offered to wash off my daughter food tray I had brought in which I said "thanks but no thanks" but still it was very nice to offer! Worst customer service ever!! We were told the wait was 45 minutes to an hour and were made to wait for 2 hours without a table and after 2 hours we were told there is a longer wait. I love Alexander's. I have tried multiple dishes, and they have yet to disappoint. I love how I can put my down with yelp and try to avoid some of the wait. The staff is always friendly and kind. Very yummy! I had the berry pancakes. They were delicious. Tons of fresh berries on the plate and the berry filling was just right. Huge. Plenty for two people! Hubby had the farmers market skillet. Fabulous and also huge. Loaded with fresh veggies. I am a coffee lover but have to drink decaf for medical reasons- very good decaf! Special shout out to Maria! She was very pleasant and sweet. Very attentive and helpful with the menu also! Can't wait to go back and try more things! Spacious. No crowding tables back to back. So we stumbled on this place when my girlfriend had a dr appointment near by. While she was in her appointment I decided to look for a place to have breakfast near by and that's when I found this place. We've been here a couple times now and the reason for the four stars is because the service is inconsistent. The first time we went we had an older lady wait on us and the service was great she even offered us a cup of coffee to go which I thought was great. The second time we went we were waited on by a different younger waitress that wasn't as friendly. Also the second time we went was on a weekend and there was about a half hour wait to be seated which was fine they gave us coffee while we waited not many places do that. As for the food it has been really good both times we've been there I had the grand cafe breakfast that came with two eggs bacon sausage and pancakes. Everything was really good good but I thought the pancakes with the cinnamon butter where the best. The second time around I had the southwest skillet which you can have like that or add meat for an additional charge. The skillet was good the only thing I can remember thinking I would have changed was the salsa on the skillet was cold I would have preferred it warm. And of corse I had to get the pancakes with cinnamon butter that also come with it. One other thing I have to mention is the coffee is great also my daughter really enjoyed the strawberry banana smoothie. Lastly it's a great restaurant a little out of my way but do not mind the drive for a great experience one of my new favorite places. read more

Oh my god. My jaw is still on the floor. The orange juice at this establishment is OFF THE CHAIN. I know it sounds weird, but I would drive over an hour to have a glass of their OJ. Great place for breakfast. We have been going here since it first opened. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming. Food is terrific. The Cinnamon pancakes are fantastic. They have a pretty broad selection of breakfast items supplemented by a Halloween seasonal offering. Everything we ordered was served quickly and hot. Servers are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. While we were eating Nick the owner stopped by to make sure everything was meeting our expectation. This is one of the best breakfast places I have tried. It's very attractive inside and out. The seating is comfortable and the noise level is just right. But the menu is the best part. Fabulous breakfast! This was the second time going to this restaurant and both times were great. The service was very good and their breakfast was even better. Both times we went on a Sunday and there was a small wait, but so worth it. We were able to order coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice while we waited. The decor is nice and the space is kept very clean. Once we ordered, it didn't take long. Since it was Valentine's week/weekend they offered a free upgrade to a specialty pancake. I always have a good experience getting take-out from Alexanders, but today I am disappointed. I ordered blueberry pancakes. The blueberries were raw and not in the pancakes. Also, when you give 4 pancakes there should be more syrup than a tiny condiment container. I am also disappointed that they put the butter in my container because when I opened it, it was melted and that is not okay. Sadly, I do not think I will be ordering takeout from here again anytime soon. read more

THE best breakfast restaurant around! Hooked on their corned beef hash skillet, every. Single. Time. Lots of creative menu choices. Just also tried them for lunch, and was equally impressed. The fish sandwich was mouthwatering, and their sadly named "wurst burger" with bratwurst meat from Reems on a pretzel bun was amazing. Should call it the Best Of the Wurst" burger! I can't get enough of this place!! Even their coffee is great, and you can get Bloody Mary's and Mimosas with breakfast. read more

The 5 stars is for the N.O.L.A. omelette, which has shrimp, garlic cheese, diced tomatoes, scallions with a hollandaise sauce smothered over the top of this extremely yummy omelette. The bad thing is that the restaurant only serves the N.O.L.A. omelette for 10 days each year, just before lent. Without this dish on its menu the remainder of the year, Alexander's Cafe is just another breakfast place. BTW, service was good and friendly. read more

Attended for brunch on a Sunday. It was packed. Food was OK, service was OK. Our wait was around 20 minutes at 11am. We haven't been back. Stopped in for lunch at 12:20 p.m. place was jumping. Jeff the host said it would be about 10 minute wait. Actual wait time less than that. Tables were moving and he got to seat us the right away. First time here at the restaurant, I ordered the Reuben sandwich like to order that to test out a restaurant. My dining partner ordered a chicken. Both sandwiches came with fries. Got our drinks meal showed up 10 minutes after. Reuben sandwich was awesome. They fried the corned beef on the grill before putting it on a sandwich just the right amount of sauerkraut and thousand island dressing served on marble rye the side of seasoned fries was great. The chicken wrap was gigantic about a round as a soup can and twice as long my partner could not finish the meal there was so much there. Dining staff was great for refilling our drinks got in and got out in a half hour real nice place to go to. Nice size restaurant, but parking was very small in the lot attached, had to park in the extended parking lot what was marked with signs. Would definitely stop here again. read more

When my friend asked me if I wanted to come with her to this restaurant, I said sure because I had heard how good this place is. When you enter the restaurant, they have it all decorated for the fall and smiling staff members greet you. The interior is very cozy and family styled. The staff take you to the many seats in the restaurant, and the orange juice I ordered was amazing. They freshly squeeze it every day. I got a traditional breakfast, and it came quickly and without delay, and our server was very patient. The hash-browns in my meal were in a massive portion, very crispy and delicious. The eggs were also amazing along with their bacon and pancakes. The cinnamon butter for their fall specials was terrific. We were not rushed to finish quickly and the manager came by to see how we were doing. When we were finished, we payed and left, and I overall had a very pleasant experience.
