A group dinner at Nobel House left us hungry for more (in a good way!). This is a pretty sizable restaurant with a bar along half of one wall and plenty of tables of varying sizes that can accommodate whatever you throw at them. There is ample lighting and the staff is welcoming and friendly. The food is BBQ and they have a little bit of everything to offer. That is great, but makes it hard to choose what you want! We certainly had that problem but ultimately were very happy with our meals. They pretty much cover all the bases as far as BBQ and the sides. The flavors were very tasty! (Former) Nobel House 'regular' here... What happened? Inflation, greed, complacency... Nobel House is in a tailspin. These days the price hikes are expected, nothing new, and the day Nobel started to impose a penalty for paying via credit card (which initially they were ALSO taxing, and at a rate no less that was higher than Geneva's local tax percentage) was when I started only paying with cash. Hey, I like(d) their food and love(d) their employees, I'm willing to pay out the nose and jump through hoops for the experience. I'll admit, I went from eating there almost every day during Covid to maybe once a month, but when my family asks me where we should go out, Nobel is ALWAYS the first that comes to mind. Within the past week I've visiting Nobel for the last time. Prices notably up again, check. Many new employees, slower service, and uh oh, what's this, the food quality is in the toilet? Couple that with another service by Kelli and her terrible attitude, and things aren't looking great. Portions. Like everywhere else, as I said, at Nobel the prices are up and portions are down. My wife's favorite though, their lobster roll (formerly one of the best I've ever had in the United States, and I travel along the east coast quite a bit), has taken a hit harder than anything else on their menu from what I can ascertain. $31 now, which isn't new, it's been $31 since the beginning of 2026 from what I can remember, but $31 and it's probably 30% smaller than it used to be. For $31 you get a lobster roll that literally looks like a piece of Texas toast folded in half now, a 30% smaller portion of lobster, and if by some off chance you order the side salad, the side salad is also smaller. I can go on about all of the other cuts that are evident, but the $31 lobster roll is about the best display of the dismal direction Nobel House is headed. Sad... First time at Nobel House in a LONG time and after today I'm not too sure why because this place is awesome (it was awesome before too though). I think the last time I visit was before the renovations. Inside feels much more spacious and the menu feels more well rounded white a few more healthier options to choose from. I opted for the BYOB with grilled salmon. At first, it looked pretty small but the portion size was just perfect where I felt full but not overly stuffed. Thought we give Noble another shot, post visi from anniversary where we ordered drinks to start and didnt know if we were dining or not, was asked a few times in the case of dine or leave attitude. Today, 5/30, we had a large part celebrating a birthday. Resturant half empty. Kelli our waitress, not the most pleasant. A toddler spilled water and ice, the eye rolling and the other waitress gossip while looking at our table. Not appreciative. To flag Kelli down, was a full time job. I understand serving others, but if we have to get up to chase you down, it becomes a problem. Food overall was fine, prices seemed increased, burgers use to be larger, lastly the drink department. Those PEI mussels were awesome and I really liked the cauliflower steak. Neither of which exist on the current menu. I just don't feel the food is as good as it used to be. More often than not the service is slow, the hosts unaccommodating, and the food average. It's a complete 180 from what this place used to be when it was next-door. This weekend was there for lunch. The Christmas decs ROCK!!! Love the lights & covers on all the chais, truly the Xmas spirit!! Oh yeah, we also had a delicious lunch...,burnt ends as app (spectacular & love the chips under)...and then for me the smoked brisket sandwich - it was fantastic- great bun, excellent sauce (not too hot or too sweet) and lots of brisket. I enjoyed the fries also, but I was stuffed by the end. My compatriots had the burger (delicious) & the brisket and two (and he took home half). He loved his sandwich and said the Mac n cheese was just alright. Similar experience for me as I loved my sandwich but the onion rings had a funny aftertaste. The pulled pork was tender and delicious. It's a cute place with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was also good. The only downside was cleanliness.. I know kids can be messy but being brought a hi chair with tacked on food gunk was gross. I tried wiping it with the napkin and the gunk just wasn't coming off. Its more like a bar than a restaurant. Super noisy, not very relaxing. You have to yell to have a conversation. We asked about the rotating beers and I selected one. Our waitress turned around and left without taking my husband's drink order. We looked at each other in disbelief. She came back about 5 minutes later to tell me they didn't have that beer after all and then she asked my husband if he wanted something to drink. The food was okay. We both had the brisket sandwich. The meat was tender, but not very flavorful, and not much smoke flavor. After adding the pickles (these are outstanding) that come with it and the sauce (a Carolina style) the sandwich was good. But it could have come out of the oven. I had the Caesar salad as my side. It was huge and very good. Do yourself a favor and ask for extra dressing at the start. The dressing was very good. I felt that it was my civic duty as someone who loves biscuits and gravy to tell people that this place has the worst biscuits and gravy I've ever had. They look pretty, but they taste like nothing - basically bread in milk and flour sauce. Everyone in my brunch group that ordered these were so confused by how bad they were because the other meals were fine. For bar food the quality of meat was very unexpected and it's because they age their meats and smoke them to prepare your meal. It was packed when we got there for dinner and a little loud but not to the point that we had to yell to converse. It is a bar restaurant so it's what you expect with a lot of high chairs and tables, a bar and tvs. The service was ok. Our waiter took our order and the meal came out pretty fast but he was not very attentive to refilling our drinks. But still not bad service. I ordered the half chicken and they really give you a half of a chicken. It was so tender in the inside with very good flavor. I also got 2 sides so I chose their onion rings and sweet potato fries, both were very good as well. My buddy got the cubano with tots and let me taste. I've been to many Cuban restaurants but this was one of the best cubanos I've tasted. The smoked ham makes a difference and they added more lemon to have a more distinct taste. We tried Noble House for the first time based on the high scoring yelp reviews and we were extremely disappointed! There were only two positives about our experience; Kim who waited on us was very good and the smoked chicken wings. One note about the wings, nice flavor but if you prefer your wings spicy none of their sauces have heat. My wife ordered the chopped salad which came with smoked chopped chicken. The salad greens were average but the unacceptable thing was she found one bone and one piece of gristle in her chopped chicken. I ordered the 2 meat/2 sides dinner. I chose brisket, pulled pork, mac & cheese and onion rings. The smoked brisket had an off taste to it. Almost like the meat was on the verge of being spoiled. The M/C was subpar. The pulled pork was tender but didn't have much flavor. The best part of the dinner was the onion rings. I mentioned my concern about the brisket to Kim and she brought me Turkey but it wasn't any good either. She did remove the charge for the salad after seeing the bone and gristle. Hanging out on a recent evening, we checked out this nice but expensive bar and grill. It was a pretty sweet place except for the high prices on most stuff and the lack of affordable vegetarian items. Nobel House has a couple locations with this one being in Geneva in downtown where most stuff is going on. Gets pretty busy but it's never been anything crazy. They have pretty expensive food but rather than being upscale, it feels more like a casual sports bar than anything fancy. First thing we got were the drinks. It had some interesting ones except for the high prices. They have a quite limited happy hour and not that many things on either the drink or food menus are on special. Knowing this, it took awhile to choose something, and then we got the cheapest stuff that also sounded good. There was limited choices for sure. I had a Geneva Mule. It's $10 for a cocktail that comes in a typical copper mug, which was kind of a lot but still pretty good though. This is made with Tito's Vodka, and has ginger beer, ginger liqueur, and lime like a typical version. It surely wasn't bad tasting. She had some kind of wine. For the food I suggested getting the Build Your Own Bowls. It's $16 each. These have a choice of meat or vegetables, and a choice of a sauce. Each of us got it with vegetables and the adobo lime. Fairly good except there could have been more, especially for how much these cost, which is a lot. They also have veggie burgers but veganness is questionable and they're also expensive so we passed on these. Good things to drink and eat. It's fine on an occasional visit but unfortunately it's not a regular place with these high prices. There's another location in Glen Ellyn so go there if you're over there or wherever. read more

It wasn't coated in the honey garlic sauce as much as last time. I also tried their side Mac and cheese last time and it was delicious. It was super creamy and rich, but not overpowering. We tried the NoHo burger this time. I liked it, it's not a terrible burger, but nothing crazy note worthy. I feel like I would have like it better with an aioli or something. I am lactose intolerant and this place is one of my favorite spots prior to me developing intolerance. So after so much work that day I needed a treat and I wasn't going to let my intolerance stop me from getting a reward from a day of work. Taking a pill or two makes eating lactose tolerable for me. We ordered the smoked poutine as a starter. It comes with cheese curds, fries, and smoked pulled pork. It's amazingly savory and salty. We all really loved it. I took a pill before eating this and picked out the cheese. For my meal I got my favorite Nashville hot chicken. It was amazing. The chicken breading, sauce, and bread all have dairy in the mix. I took a second pill before eating this. This Nashville hot chicken is amazing. This is early one of my favorite sandwiches in all of the Fox River area. It tastes tangy, sweet, smokey, it has a kick, it's great. I also had one seasonal beer. The place has been remodeled since I've been there last and I was amazed by how nice it looked. They've done a great job. The dramatic portrait of Alfred Nobel in the front is amazing. In all the food was great and so was the decor. The place was packed, for good reason, and my stomach felt fine. Everyone is different when it comes to lactose intolerance so take caution if you are. I have loved Noble House for a long time. I was looking forward to supporting a local restaurant for a carry out order. My family and I are looking to order from curbside restaurants only, and since on Google Noble House says this option is available, we were excited to eat their food again. My husband and I pulled up to the restaurant, and there was no place for pick up orders. We had to walk into the restaurant, which made me uncomfortable. When we walked inside, it was crowded, the only people wearing masks were the staff. There were no empty tables, no single patron was wearing a mask, not even those waiting for a table. We had to stand there and wait and try to get the bartenders attention in this extremely crowded bar. I understand that restaurants are in a tough spot, but to see Noble House make absolutely no effort to adhere to any sort of Covid Restrictions was extremely disappointing. We stooped here after the Fox Valley Folk Festival and the waitress was great and the food was fine. When the bill came, the management had tacked on a 3% credit card fee. While I believe that is part of the cost of doing business and it is wrong to pass it on this way, the problem is that it was never disclosed upfront. There was no indication on the menu nor did the waitress inform us of such. We asked that it be removed because of the lack of disclosure but the management refused. Management can do what they want with surcharges and junk fees, the the deceptive part is the lack of disclosure until the end followed by their attitude. Luckily we had enough cash to cover. Came here on a Saturday night around 6 o'clock knowing that they don't take reservations. We expected more people here, but it wasn't as crowded as we expected. They offer an adult Mac n cheese menu item too that you can add extras like salmon, lobster, sausage and chicken too for additional up charges. For an appetizer the dynamite shrimp is AMAZING! Tried this little cute place out on a Sunday for brunch. It's a cute little space with a very nice brunch menu. I went with the Rise and Shine, two eggs with breakfast potatoes and i chose the brisket for my meat. The brisket was good, and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. They were served on some chips (that I think they make in house). There was a lot of flavor- kind of spicy, kind of sweet. The brussel sprouts were just okay. They were made with some kind of balsamic sauce. I probably wouldn't order those again. They had a large selection of beer; however, I did not try any. The service was nice and quick.
