I am a semi-regular diner from the time Alexander's opened in Saint Charles. This morning I was very pleased to see and enjoy Gindos Hot Pepper Sauce once again. It had been absent for some time. It is superior to the common brand sauce made with similar peppers. Beyond the quality, Gindos is locally made, in Saint Charles, in walking distance to Alexander's and Rookies across the street. As much as consumers support local business, local businesses should support each other. read more

UPDATE: Been a while since I dined here, food is still good, prices have increased, service is still great. I will say value for money has taken a hit, brunch for 2 with no alcohol was $53.86... ouch. Used to be under $40... besides that. Everything was still solid, my only knock was the amount of potatoes with my meal, would've loved another egg, toast or more meat, but I get it all those are expensive and potatoes are still cheap. Overall, still a great breakfast, brunch and lunch spot. Just not as special as it was 5-7 years ago. And it's not exactly their fault, it's the economy we are currently living in. read more

Delicious brunch, cozy atmosphere, and fantastic service. We came around 12:30 pm and were seated immediately, very attentive service without feeling rushed. The warm apple cider was so comforting, and the mimosa flight (pineapple, blackberry, strawberry, and classic) was excellent. Steak Huevos Rancheros was tender and flavorful, and the Flapjack breakfast was very filling. Generous portions, reasonable prices, and absolutely worth the drive from Chicago. We went for a late breakfast. The service was fantastic, Thanks Cristina! My carnitas breakfast tacos were full of pork, egg, cheese etc.. I had a few exceptions and replacements and they were made just as I had asked. Kudos to the cooks and kitchen staff. We were in for brunch this past Sunday which is our 2nd time dining here. We would have been seated immediately but requested a booth and they had to wash it off. We waited about 3 minutes which was perfect. Our server was super friendly and efficient without being overbearing. We both ordered the ham and cheese omelet which was amazing! Food and service were fine but the horrific Halloween decor was not. Hanging full size skeletons all around the outside of the restaurant clearly visible from every window is ghoulish and demonic, We won't be back until they're removed. Owners need to have some decency when decorating a family restaurant with kids who have to see this display of death. read more

Solid breakfast spot and solid prices for the quality. One of the better places in the area. My fave was the butcher block skillet. Really nice that they partner with the local butcher Ream's. The service is great. And the inside is pretty cozy. When I went there the coffee was on the watery side but from other reviews, I take it was maybe a fluke. read more

We had a delicious brunch at Alexander's Café on Main Street in St. Charles Illinois. The coffee and meals were beautifully prepared, hot, and generous in portion size. The service was excellent, very friendly, courteous, and fast. The dining area was clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. One exception, however, was the decorators choice of hanging two pictures, neither of which were pleasant to look at. One was of Batman's Joker with a disgusting mouth, and the other was from the Movie Jaws with a man's tongue hanging out, and the shark about to attack him. Not something we would've expected in a breakfast cafe, and not pleasing to look at. Overall a wonderful brunch experience. read more

Honestly, not as good as it has been in the past. Have been going here about once a month for about 2 years and is about a 45 min drive from where I live, but it was so good, we were willing to make the drive. The biscuit love no longer has the aged cheese and the last 3 times I've had it, the biscuits were/are dry and partially burnt. This last visit, they managed to both burn and undercook the hash browns. Wife had the same results with her food. My clothes smelled like burnt food for the rest of the day, so the ventilation system doesn't seem to be doing a great job either. Gonna be a while before I give them another chance. I will say the staff is friendly and have hopes they can right the ship so I didn't want to rate any lower as they've done so well in the past. This was my first time eating at Alexander's Cafe. We arrived early and there was plenty of seating. The server was knowledgeable and patient as I decided on my order. I'm glad I went with the French Connection. Two eggs, two bacon, two sausage links, hash browns and French toast., which I upgraded to the lemon berry toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash browns were crispy on the outside and tender inside. The bacon and sausage were equally good. It was a lot of food so be prepared! The slightly sweet, slightly tart lemon custard and fresh blueberries made the French toast shine. The custard, berries and whipped topping added flavor that made syrup optional. Alexanders has super friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant is very clean, open and lots of light. There were 3 in our party and it was nice to order either breakfast or lunch. The crepes with lingonberries and 3 sausages on the side were delicious. We also ordered half ham sandwich with a side salad that was good. And the country breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and a huge biscuit with gravy was excellent! It was so much food that my husband couldn't finish it. Good leftovers! The staff is great! The food was really good as well. My wife needed GF items and they have GF pancakes! That is rare. They were great! We liked the specials of the day and will return for some of their more unique dishes. We compare places to Egg Harbor for breakfast and this place is very comparable. A brunch restaurant on the side of the road in Saint Charles, Alexander's gives a homey vibe. We chose both mimosas and they were pretty good. I usually prefer the traditional mimosa but their berry mimosa was really good! The Ream's Market Burger was delicious. Size of the patty was generous, the burger was cooked medium rare like I asked, and the French fries had just the right crunch. It looked thin for a second but how they make it made me want more of them. The Nutella and banana crepe has to be a crowd favorite because I almost regretted getting a burger when I tasted it. The fifth picture was just for fun because I thought it was a fun gesture to have a recipe page under the fries. Definitely a great place to go and my girlfriend and I are planning to walk over monthly now to visit! read more

Good service and pretty good food here. I also liked that you could sub pancakes in with breakfast combos. I had an egg white chicken chorizo omelette with breakfast potatoes and cinnamon roll pancakes. The omelette was good but very oil because of the chorizo. I thought maybe it would be less so because it was chIcken but no such luck. I wouldn't get it again but it was pretty good. The breakfast potatoes were delish though! Those that weren't soggy from the grease that is. The pancakes were tasty. I thought they were more of a cinnamon sugar than cinnamon roll but still good. Met here at 9am on a Saturday. It was not overly crowded & We were seated immediately Coffee was good and able to drink right away, so those that need it at the temp of the sun won't like it. Food came out almost too fast as we were in no hurry & just catching up. Everything was good not great & portions were ok not huge as a lot of reviews have stated. I was able to clean my plate & my 2 sisters ate most of theirs, if portions were HUGE they would have 1/2 of theirs in a doggy bag.
