Most other places try too hard to be foofy and be on trend, but this place is just Goldilocks for atmosphere, food selection, service + all the things you need for breakfast. I'd go 3.5 stars really as was good but nothing we had especially knocked our socks off, mainly due to being underseasoned ...salt n pepper needed, no butter on toast and just personal preference their coffee flavor - it just wasn't our cup of tea :-) But Zero Complaints - everything cooked very well and that isn't always easy to do with eggs. I have only had breakfast here and always get the special. It's 2 eggs, hash browns, a meat choice and toast for $9.99. The service is always prompt and attentive. My over easy eggs are always done perfectly. The link sausages are delicious. You get a generous serving of hash browns that are perfectly done. If you ask for hot sauce you are given a very nice selection. Management is also attentive and checks in. My only complaint is that the coffee I had the first couple of times was just terrible to my taste so I just don't order it any more. I do however order the fresh squeezed orange juice which is expensive but worth every penny. I keep coming back so that says something. Edit: the breakfast special is no more, sad! read more

It was so beautiful sitting in front of me that I forgot to take a pic of it before I ate it. But I took one of it afterwards. Butcher Block skillet. I hate to post negative reviews on a first visit, but I have to because I won't be back. The food was OK, nothing special. Service was very good. Portions were on the lean side, not worth the price. This brings me to my biggest complaint. My wife ordered the Alexander Omelet, which includes bacon. She asked to substitute the bacon for mushrooms. She also chose the fruit as a side. So, we get charged $1.99 for a 1/2 cup of fruit (which looked poorly prepared) and was charged $1.50 for the mushroom substitution instead of bacon. I know enough that bacon is probably 3 to 5 times the cost of mushrooms, yet we received no credit for not getting bacon. Worst case it should have been a zero charge for the substitution. What a rip-off. WAY OVERPRICED for what you get. My recommendation is a hard PASS on Alexander's Cafe. read more

We used the Call Ahead Waitlist feature and it worked really well. Our first time visiting Alexanders Cafe. Yum! We wanted lunch, rather than breakfast. There are plenty of lunch options. My husband had the salad and half a tuna salad sandwich. Three cheers for a restaurant that actually has Thousand Island dressing. That is getting harder and harder to find. Alexanders' Thousand Island dressing is very good. I ordered the Alexander burger. It comes with bacon, havarti cheese, mayo, tomato, 2 good size pickles, grilled onion and lettuce on a pretzel roll. I asked for it to be cooked medium and it was cooked perfectly medium. It was delicious. The burger had that charcoal-ly flavor. The grilled onions were sweet. Our order came out quickly and the server was friendly and helpful. I'll be returning to Alexanders. There are alot of other menu items we want to try. read more

Well I gotta say pretty disappointed. We ordered breakfast through Uber eats. The service and delivery was fast, which Is why I'm even more disappointed with the quality of food we received. I'm attaching photos. Waffle is soggy and wet. I specifically made note and special instructions not to put our blueberries on the waffle and leave it on a side. They put the berries on the waffle which I'm sure was the cause of making it wet and soggy. And for a $20 avocado toast I expected a lot more. Cheapest one slice of bread(50cents) some Turkey sausage maybe a buck, tastes like cardboard. Some smashed avocado and diced piece of tomato. And two pouched eggs. Alexander's has a very nice waitstaff- it's a very cozy diner ambience. Lots of families, couples and friends seem to be here. As vegetarians I wish they would up their game- some plant based options or alternatives would be nice. I think their coffee is great, portions are very large. My husband gets a club sandwich with no meat- the fries and coleslaw are quite tasty. I was disappointed in the French toast -it's very thick sliced bread that has had a very very brief encounter with the egg mixture and not given a crisp edge. Tried out Alexander's Cafe with my friend for the first this over the weekend and really enjoyed it! There was plenty of seating and the tables weren't bunched together which we appreciated. Our server was friendly and very attentive. My friend and I shared the breakfast tacos and French Connection with the Lemon Berry which were both delightful. That omelette was so god damn huge I damn near didn't finish but I powered through it & took 1 for the team guys. Plenty of seating & even the waiting area is also plentiful of seating as well. Large tent outside for those of us who prefer our dining sans Covid. The service is friendly and helpful. Lots of outdoor (and indoor) seating. The quality of their food isn't what it used to be. I always order the Mediterranean Salad with chicken skewers. The chicken was so over cooked and dry that it was hard to swallow. The cucumbers had refrigerator burn on them. It should have been obvious to the person who prepped them and to the person who prepared the salad. They were not crisp and firm but soft and wet. The feta cheese had zero flavor. The only redeeming quality was the white balsamic vinaigrette. That was good as usual. And, the price increase in the years since they opened. Yikes. We were in the area and wanted to find a breakfast place for the Sunday morning after a wedding. I called Alexander's Cafe to check for a wait time, and Sunday around 10am it was a 45-60 minute wait for a party of 2. The woman who answered the phone was kind enough to mention that we can get an app called "No Wait" and can get in line earlier. I thought that was very kind of her and it kept us waiting at the hotel versus on location. When we arrived, the place was packed. Obviously people wanted to wait so the place must be good! Our server, Andrea, was very good and was quick to take our drink orders. For being very busy, she definitely knew how to handle it. The coffee was great. I noticed it was a local company too. We ordered a raspberry lemonade and it was delicious! I got the berry good pancakes. Very good, not too sweet, and plenty of food. I could only eat half. My fiancé got a special they were having just for Father's Day only, a prime rib skillet. He loved it. Biggest complaint: it was very hot and humid inside the restaurant. The weather outside didn't feel much different. On a humid June day, you'd think they'd crank up the AC. Even the girls at the front desk were fanning themselves. Not sure what I think of this place. Food is good, Service was good for the most part. Waitress did a good job. So I was there this past Saturday having breakfast with my son, whom I am not able to get together with very often. Being a Navy Vet I have a tendency to eat fast. I have hearing aids. The restaurant is a normal breakfast restaurant with lots going on, and people having a good time and talking.. So I have to pay close attention to my son, who when we have a discussion on his work, or my work, or my art, or his writing, has a lot of very good things to say that I want to hear, but It's easy to miss things, and interruptions can lead to lost trains of thought.. My son, isn't afflicted with the fast eating tendency and he usually is the one talking so I often have my meal finished when he is about half way through. During this four times we were interrupted by either the waitress or a bus boy coming by wanting to remove my plate. I refused. Finally, whom I suppose is the owner came by, and by this time I was a bit frustrated. I pulled up the article below and attempted to show it to him. He totally shut me down. Wasn't interested the least bit in what I was trying to say, and quite frankly was about as rude as one could be. Later I was able to talk with a lady, whom maybe is his wife (Maria) and she was very courteous and patiently listened to my explanation and request. In spite of it all I gave the waitress a tip that was over 20%, and told the man on the way out that the food was good. When I go to a restaurant I like to be treated as a guest.. Not "rush them in and out the door, increase our turnaround and make as much as possible." And I don't want my meal partner or guest to feel like they are in a fishbowl with people watching them eat.. And I don't want my son to feel rushed to finish his meal while I continue to try to slow down (Thanks, Navy) If I want to be rushed in and out I'll go to McDonalds.. My time with my son is valuable to me. He works a lot, I work a lot. I drive an hour to get to Alexander's and we want to go there because it's on the way home for my son from where he works. Gas is $5.00 a gallon. So going out for a meal is a big deal. Asking him to come down my way is out of the question.. The owner's response and the continual having to interact with folks wanting to take my plate cast an unpleasant air on what had been up to that point a wonderful time. Again tomorrow I will be able to meet with my son and continue our conversation.. Do I go to Alexander's and possibly get treated rudely by the owner again? Will he even let me in the door? He didn't seem all too interested in any form of understanding.. Will the lady Maria have any input with him? Not sure after an hour drive I want to chance it with them again. This is the BEST breakfast place in the world! To start they always have the best cup of coffee and it hits the spot every time. I have tried almost everything on the menu and my favorite is the skillet with the side of pancakes. The skillet is always delicious and the cinnamon butter on the pancakes put it over the edge. I've dined here once before, and it was delicious. How could it not be- Oberweis dairy products, Reams meat, Intelligista coffee! Today was quite different because I didn't even get to taste any food... This restaurant does not take reservations. Most brunch places in this area do not, but the perk to this restaurant is that you can get on their waitlist from this yelp app. I put my family and I on the waitlist at 10:45 AM. It texted me a link and confirmed that we should arrive at the restaurant at 11:45 AM. We arrived about five minutes early and went to tell the hostess that we had arrived only to find out that we were never placed on the list. The hostess offered to place on the list, but that would have meant we would be waiting 45 minutes to an hour for a table. This is exactly what I wanted to avoid with a nursing newborn baby and toddler. I explained that I had already put us on the list an hour ago and she ensured that she would "fit us in." Well, sure enough, we watched people come in and sit before us for 45 minutes. So basically we were just put at the end of the list when we arrived despite having supposedly joined the list an hour prior. It was well over 100° in the waiting area and we had already checked how much longer two times. Then I went to speak with the manager to explain the situation and he was full of excuses about how they don't take reservations because that would mean he would have empty tables sitting, etc. The caveat was that it was Father's Day, and understandably, busy and hectic. The way the staff and management handled the situation was disgraceful. A corner booth right next to the waiting area that was a billion degrees opened up and they wanted to squeeze our party (six people plus a baby carrier) into it. My husband, mother-in-law, and I all said loud and clear we would rather wait because we were so hot as it was. The hostess replied with "you're all adults you'll be fine." Then they proceeded to offer us the table. Like take it or leave it (or wait 45 more min). Needless to say, we sat down because my toddler was done and my newborn baby needed to be nursed at that point. We waited in the sweltering hot for about 10 minutes for someone to come to our table. My baby developed a heat rash. After a two hour ordeal to get a table, we ended up getting up and leaving. We will not be back. read more
