    Lobster pasta
    Melissa K.

I came to the Walrus Room with my colleagues for dinner. We had a private space in the back and pre-selected menu. The service was awesome! We had a couple servers who were knowledgeable and attentive. For food, I got the Caesar side salad and lobster pasta. The lobster pasta was incredible!! We shared some apps too, the burrata and shrimp which were both delicious as well. The place was pretty crowded for a Tuesday night. I would definitely return and highly recommend for private events!

The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings. As an Alice in wonderland fan, I am obsessed with this place! Nestled in a cute little corner of Geneva it's the perfect place for a nice dinner. The overall atmosphere is low key, cool vibes and awesome staff throughout the whole place. We celebrated our anniversary and they gave us complimentary wine, awesome. The drinks were so good, freshly made ingredients. Our waiter, Tony, was amazing! Great attention to detail and recommendations for us since it was our first time visiting. Appetizers were amazing: shrimp de jonghe, shallot tarte tatin and New Orleans bbq shrimp. Entrees: Wagyu sirloin and Friday fish fry with roasted vegetable and whipped potato sides. All delicious! Will definitely be back.

BBQ Shrimp - the bread was SO good I don't like the legs on the shrimp, but it's not a huge issue.

Wes was my server and he was fantastic! Very knowledgeable on the menu & just had a great personality. I LOVE the decor and vibe in here. The Delmonico was sooo yummy, however it could have possibly had a bit more of a crust & the garlic butter was too cold. I advise you to get the steakhouse wedge!!! Trust me. The bathroom decor is also really cute. Love the vintage perfume bottle.

Great find!! Came here for the first time during restaurant week and was blown away. The food, the service, the ambiance... 10s across the board. Just celebrated my 40th birthday there and everyone was so impressed, they're spreading the word!! Can't wait to come back

Date night at The Walrus Room was awesome. We both love seafood, so we went nuts. Escargot and crab cake apps both offered unique flavors. The trout and walleye were both also great. Good portion size and the final bill, even with drinks, wasn't crazy. A great spot to eat before a comedy show at The Comedy Vault.

Shorts, flip flops, and torn tee-shirts is the vibe - NOT fine dining. I felt extremely overdressed in a dress and heels. The decor inside is nice, but it still felt like a local bar rather than an upscale restaurant. There was no bread service which surprised me since I've been to several supper clubs, and that has always been a standard part of the meal. My beet salad was HUGE and good but nothing special. I ordered the walleye, and literally every bite had at least 4 bones. Yuck. The ice cream sandwich was the best part of the meal with homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Talk about a hidden gem. My husband and I drove past The Walrus Room, not once, not twice, but three times before we were finally successful on our fourth try. It is in a strip mall on State Street between 4th Street and 5th Street. There is no signage that is visible from the street. Going through the stress of getting to the The Walrus Room is well worth it. This is a fabulous restaurant. Beware, the portions of all items are HUGE! I was surprised at the amount of food that we were given. We started with some appetizers for the table to share. We had the Chorizo Mussels (P.E.I mussels, white wine, garlic, shallots, French fries) and the steakhouse wedge salad (Iceberg, Danish blue cheese, Nueske's bacon). The mussels were perfectly cooked. The shells came apart easily and the chorizo sauce added some flavor to the dish without becoming too spicy. The wedge salad came with crispy iceberg lettuce and the bacon and blue cheese dressing added some great flavor. After the appetizers, I wasn't feeling super hungry. I ordered the Fried Perch Sandwich (lake perch, tempura batter, remoulade, kale slaw) because it looked like the smallest item on the menu. This also came with French fries. The flavor was really good. The perch was light and crispy and the toppings added a rich flavor to the sandwich. The fries were truffle parmesan flavored and did not need any sauce to add flavor. My husband had the half slab of baby back ribs off the supper club specials menu. This came with house salad, whipped potatoes & roasted vegetables. The ribs were overcooked and the barbecue sauce was not very flavorful. I don't know how he had room after the appetizers and entrees but our friend ordered a scoop of ice cream for dessert. Overall, The Walrus Room comes very highly recommended. The food is excellent and the ambiance is great.

    Arctic Char

As good a place as any for the area. Cool Alice in wonderland theme. Dark and chill vibes. Tried the arctic char and trout. Both very skillfully prepared. The arctic char had an excellent crust and was cooked perfectly. The trout was the standout for me. Great combination of crunch from the shaved almonds, acidity from the puree, garlic (well for garlic's sake). Drink was strong and well balanced. All around a solid no nonsense meal with zero pretense. Would definitely return. Service was good too. Not quite on par with the likes of the Mandrake but good.

They also changed up their cocktail menu, and we were super excited to see they had some new summer drinks. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. It's perfect for special occasions and date nights. The first two times we came we sat at the bar, but we came right when they opened and were able to be seated at a table. I love the candlesticks they have lit at the tables. There's a a view of the kitchen as well. To drink, I had the Dip in the Backyard Kiddie Pool (very refreshing) and Fresa Fresca (basically a strawberry margarita and it was super refreshing and tasted like strawberry juice). For dessert, we shared the oreo carjillo. It was pretty strong to me, but it definitely tasted like Oreos and milk! To eat as an appetizer, they gave us complimentary bread and butter and we ordered the sundried tomato oil to go along with it (a must). Their bread is so soft and fresh. We also got the bone marrow (forgot to get a photo), and it was some of the best we've had!! For our entrees, we got the two pasta dishes. They called them "small plates" but it was the perfect amount of food for us with our appetizers. I had the spicy carrot rigatoni pasta and it was super fresh. I love that they cooked the pasta al dente.

We loved everything about The Graceful Ordinary from the ambience to the amazing service (thanks Karen!) to the creative cocktails to the delicious food. When we arrived at the table, there was an anniversary card from the staff. Nice touch! We were brought a loaf of the warm housemade bread with whipped butter to begin. Hubby ordered the Having a Moment bourbon cocktail, and I had the Honey Kiss vodka and elderflower cocktail. Love their creative cocktail list. Karen was a fabulous server, so attentive and friendly. The other staff was on top of everything from water being refilled to clearing dirty dishes and even fresh butter brought to the table when it was low. Our needs were met before we even needed to ask. Also, since Karen knew that we were splitting all the courses, she automatically had the food split between two plates. I liked that. We decided to split everything we ordered. We started with the smoked salmon deviled eggs which were creamy delicious, not to mention beautifully presented. Our second starter was the bone marrow with caramelized shallots. This dish was absolutely amazing. My only critique would be to put four pieces of bread on the plate went two people are sharing. Our next course was a salad and we went with the roasted beet salad with blue cheese and sunflower shoots dressed in a warm bacon vinaigrette. Bacon - need I say more? Our main course was the walleye with ricotta gnudi, fava beans, peas and wild mushrooms. So many flavors and textures going on. The fish was perfectly seared and moist. Delectable. We thought about dessert but we were so full from dinner that we passed. Karen wouldn't let us go without a complimentary dessert in honor of our anniversary to enjoy at home, their signature butterscotch pot de crème with sea salt caramel. The Graceful Ordinary certainly made our anniversary special with the anniversary card at the table, and the complementary dessert. If you're in the western Chicago burbs, I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

We initially tried to dine at Tia Carmen's downstairs, but the wait was too long--so we headed upstairs to Revolución instead. We were among the first guests. The service was friendly, though not particularly attentive. Our server didn't check in often, and we had to wait quite a while for water--thankfully, the busser eventually stepped in and kept our glasses full. The food was tasty overall. We weren't fans of the chips served with the guacamole; they were more like plain tortillas--dry and lacking salt. That said, the rest of the meal was enjoyable. My suggestion to management: even when it's slow, make sure tables have water and guests are checked on regularly. A little extra attentiveness would go a long way in improving the experience.

The Birria egg rolls were a bit on the smaller side but made a big impression with its preparation. I've never had birria wrapped in anything as crispy as the wonton wrapper this was wrapped in. The birria was flavorful while being tender and not being too salty. The white cheddar and chihuahua cheese added a small amount of extra saltiness and a bit more fat, which matched well with the chipotle aiola. The duck poutine was incredibly flavorful, while sitting on the edge of potentially being too bold. The fries were incredibly crispy though there was quite a bit of gravy on the dish and the white cheddar cheese curds did a great job of keeping the entire dish hot throughout the meal, while adding a little bit of extra flavor. The bacon and onion added some umami though it almost made the dish a bit too salty and the duck confit added a nice protein element. Overall a little pricey, but given the more unique menu and quality of both the flavors and textures, it's worth the premium. The food here is definitely memorable and in line with excellent options available in Geneva.

I don't want to sit at the bar next to your hyper pre-teen. The food is self serve. You order via your phone. Pick food up at the kitchen window. Food was decent enough. Plastic utensils. The bartenders (and I was one back in the day) were inattentive. Asked the busboy, who sort of lurked behind the bar washing glasses from time to time, for a box to go and he pointed to a table set up for to go orders. Thanks, man. Charging a 3% credit card fee when you don't accept cash is absolutely lame. Yes, debit cards are free. I didn't see that until after I paid the bill. There is a pour your own draft system with about a dozen beers but that doesn't impress me. An undersized bags, bocce and putting green. Some decent new arcade games. Our level of anticipation evaporated almost immediately when we were assaulted by the sound. The singer on stage accompanied by a bass so loud that my bones vibrated. Was the singer good? Couldn't tell because his voice was overpowered by the music. And even though the night was advertised as a Sinatra night....Elvis entertained as much as ole blue eyes. Our group of six were jammed into a booth meant for 4 people against a wall directly in line with the speaker. That means the sound hit us, then the wall, hitting us again as sound travels. We asked if it was possible to lower the volume. No one could talk or communicate during the performance. It was temporarily lowered and then the singer signaled the sound man to up the volume again. How was the food you ask? Three of us had the fish and it was excellent. The Chacuterie tray was well appointed but the salads that followed were bland and the seasonal vegetables consisted of mostly bell peppers with a carrot thrown in. Again..perhaps we would have enjoyed our meal more without the vibrations and incredibly loud music. I downloaded a decibel meter. It said that music in a restaurant should range between 50-65 decibels; my meter averaged 90+ during the show. We spoke with a kind and understandable waiter but not the manager. Management should know from us; this was a one and done. I'm still trying to figure out why other patrons were applauding loudly when you really didn't hear the music.
