Friendly service, fresh food, good prices and a friendly bunch of people sitting at the counter. What more could you ask for?

You can tell how a good a restaurant might be if the locals eat there. And a lot of locals eat at The Geneva Diner. When you walk in you'll notice that this diner is small, but they had room for me and my mother. But what isn't small is their menu. They had a huge menu for a diner this small. When I saw a Sloppy Joe on the menu, I knew I had to get it. I haven't had a Sloppy Joe in over twenty years. It was prepared very well (with beef, green pepper, and onions) and had a taste that reminded me of my childhood. The sandwich came with chips. My mother ordered the grilled cheese, which was also good. The service was slow. It appeared that there was only one server and one cook. Overall, the atmosphere and food at The Geneva Diner was enjoyable. I recommend The Geneva Diner.

Wonderful little gem. We were vendors at the art show. we frequented here 4 times. they serve a decent amount of food at great prices. they accommodated my dietary wishes perfectly. Sam was our server every time, and he did a great job. they all worked together to make a great team. food was good, service fast. my parents return year after year. this restaurant does have the most bizarre little bathroom I've ever seen. it's in the basement.

Half of a leftover "Bill's Breakfast Sandwich"
    Julie M.

I ordered the Bill's Breakfast Sandwich the night before from the Yelp app, for pick up the next morning on my way to work. I am always a bit leery of doing that with old school restaurants like The Geneva Diner, but everything went perfectly. I was greeted warmly when I arrived and my sandwich had just been packaged and was ready to go. I was in and out in a second! The sandwich itself was tasty but I could only eat half. It needed salt and pepper in my opinion, so make sure and ask for some. The picture is of the leftover half of the sandwich that I just warmed up for my breakfast the next day. I would order from them again. It's not fancy, just good basic diner food.

Two people served, Bryanna K and another gentleman in the which I did get his name. Bryanna was our main server. Both were super nice and not overbearing which I liked. It was hot and I was in the sun all morning so we only ordered water no other drinks. My daughter got the beet salad and I got the Korean Tacos. A lot of places have good presentation without the flavor to follow up. This did not happened here. My daughter really enjoyed her salad and I equally enjoyed the tacos. I am a fan of steak fries, so I was excited to have some nice thick fries with my lunch. The tortilla soup was just as good. I have not set place in this spot since it was Nosh. Their preorder system is incredibly smooth, though it does require a bit of planning since you need to order at least a day in advance, and they are closed on Mondays. I scheduled an order on a Friday for a Tuesday morning pickup. I picked up a dozen GF donuts and a half-dozen chocolate chip cookies, and both were fantastic. They offer a ton of different donut flavors, though the ordering system limits you to choosing three varieties per dozen. I went with the banana bread, chocolate with chocolate icing and the brown sugar with chocolate icing, and they did not disappoint. The cookies were just as impressive, hitting that perfect texture without any of the dryness you sometimes find in gluten-free baking. The shop itself is super cute and perfectly set up for a quick visit. All the preordered to-go items are neatly laid out on a cabinet for a seamless pickup. If you have some extra time, they also have drinks and food you can order at the counter, a shared parking lot that makes stopping by a breeze, and a nice outdoor seating area. I will definitely be back to mix and match some new flavors next time.

They also changed up their cocktail menu, and we were super excited to see they had some new summer drinks. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. It's perfect for special occasions and date nights. The first two times we came we sat at the bar, but we came right when they opened and were able to be seated at a table. I love the candlesticks they have lit at the tables. There's a a view of the kitchen as well. To drink, I had the Dip in the Backyard Kiddie Pool (very refreshing) and Fresa Fresca (basically a strawberry margarita and it was super refreshing and tasted like strawberry juice). For dessert, we shared the oreo carjillo. It was pretty strong to me, but it definitely tasted like Oreos and milk! To eat as an appetizer, they gave us complimentary bread and butter and we ordered the sundried tomato oil to go along with it (a must). Their bread is so soft and fresh. We also got the bone marrow (forgot to get a photo), and it was some of the best we've had!! For our entrees, we got the two pasta dishes. They called them "small plates" but it was the perfect amount of food for us with our appetizers. I had the spicy carrot rigatoni pasta and it was super fresh. I love that they cooked the pasta al dente.

We loved everything about The Graceful Ordinary from the ambience to the amazing service (thanks Karen!) to the creative cocktails to the delicious food. When we arrived at the table, there was an anniversary card from the staff. Nice touch! We were brought a loaf of the warm housemade bread with whipped butter to begin. Hubby ordered the Having a Moment bourbon cocktail, and I had the Honey Kiss vodka and elderflower cocktail. Love their creative cocktail list. Karen was a fabulous server, so attentive and friendly. The other staff was on top of everything from water being refilled to clearing dirty dishes and even fresh butter brought to the table when it was low. Our needs were met before we even needed to ask. Also, since Karen knew that we were splitting all the courses, she automatically had the food split between two plates. I liked that. We decided to split everything we ordered. We started with the smoked salmon deviled eggs which were creamy delicious, not to mention beautifully presented. Our second starter was the bone marrow with caramelized shallots. This dish was absolutely amazing. My only critique would be to put four pieces of bread on the plate went two people are sharing. Our next course was a salad and we went with the roasted beet salad with blue cheese and sunflower shoots dressed in a warm bacon vinaigrette. Bacon - need I say more? Our main course was the walleye with ricotta gnudi, fava beans, peas and wild mushrooms. So many flavors and textures going on. The fish was perfectly seared and moist. Delectable. We thought about dessert but we were so full from dinner that we passed. Karen wouldn't let us go without a complimentary dessert in honor of our anniversary to enjoy at home, their signature butterscotch pot de crème with sea salt caramel. The Graceful Ordinary certainly made our anniversary special with the anniversary card at the table, and the complementary dessert. If you're in the western Chicago burbs, I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.
