Stopped in for breakfast with my family at the Geneva State Street Diner and experienced great service with even better food. We all left satiated and had a quick trip. It is a small, intimate location with booths, tables, and bar style seating. Will most definitely visit again!

Food is delicious, always is very warm welcoming environment! Wasn't too please with what I was charged for a side of Salas... it's absolutely delicious but was shocked by the charge..

My love and I recently visited the town of Geneva, Illinois for a weekend date. It was time for lunch, so we wound up at State Street Diner, located on the relatively busy State Street in Geneva. I did not even go into the actual establishment, which I believe is a pretty compact venue. Fortunately, they were serving food outside at a few tables, so our table for two under a tent did the trick for us. Note that the dine-in option may have just changed at this restaurant thanks to the rising wave of Covid-19 in Illinois, so check ahead to see if you can still eat there (seems you can still dine outdoors below the tent). Though the menu has many breakfast faves, we both opted for lunch items. I am usually a bit skeptical of Mexican dishes served at an American-style diner, but I was sold on the Burrito Suizo based on its photo in the menu. Sure enough, my impressive-looking burrito came to our table looking bedazzled just like the depiction. I asked for chorizo in the burrito, which was topped with dollops of guacamole, drizzled crema, cheese, and Ranchero sauce. My love went with the Geneva Burger with crinkle-cut fries, and I barely had room to sample a bite of her dish.

My parents and I absolutely love state street diner. We have been coming to this restaurant for 8 years at least!! All the servers are super friendly and attentive. The place has a beautiful mural and it's pretty to look at. It's a bit small of a place and the bathroom is through an awkward hallway past the kitchen but for that price of food and the amazing consistent service who can complain?

Classic Eggs Benedict, French Toast with Bacon and tall Large Stack Buttermilk Pancake!

Great service from the minute we walked in. Fast service and the food was great! I highly recommend!

Dirty spoon among the unclean table service placed on napkins and waiting at the table upon arrival.

Disorganized and a very long wait. Don't bother unless you have at least 2 hours to spare for your meal. By the time you get there, wait for a seat, wait for table service, get the dirty silverware replaced, and place your order, you will need to wait yet another 45 mins for your food. After 45 mins went by (having been there for 90 mins and left for breakfast 2 hours prior), there still wasn't any food brought to the table - got up and politely left having placed enough cash on the table to more than cover my drink. As I left, I was told by the woman running the place that I should not come back unless I'm ready to expect at least a 45 minute wait for food on a Saturday. I have no idea if the food is any good.... I just know it can't be good enough to be worth all that trouble. I won't be back.

Great food and better service! Ana is a delight! I come here to meet a friend that lives in Geneva. I am never disappointed. It can get busy -- plan ahead! :)

There is ample lighting and the staff is welcoming and friendly. The food is BBQ and they have a little bit of everything to offer. That is great, but makes it hard to choose what you want! We certainly had that problem but ultimately were very happy with our meals. They pretty much cover all the bases as far as BBQ and the sides. The flavors were very tasty! Having one in Glen Ellyn won't have us running back to this location but that is only on account of circumstance.

These days the price hikes are expected, nothing new, and the day Nobel started to impose a penalty for paying via credit card (which initially they were ALSO taxing, and at a rate no less that was higher than Geneva's local tax percentage) was when I started only paying with cash. Hey, I like(d) their food and love(d) their employees, I'm willing to pay out the nose and jump through hoops for the experience. I'll admit, I went from eating there almost every day during Covid to maybe once a month, but when my family asks me where we should go out, Nobel is ALWAYS the first that comes to mind. Within the past week I've visiting Nobel for the last time. Prices notably up again, check. Many new employees, slower service, and uh oh, what's this, the food quality is in the toilet? Couple that with another service by Kelli and her terrible attitude, and things aren't looking great. Portions. Like everywhere else, as I said, at Nobel the prices are up and portions are down. My wife's favorite though, their lobster roll (formerly one of the best I've ever had in the United States, and I travel along the east coast quite a bit), has taken a hit harder than anything else on their menu from what I can ascertain. $31 now, which isn't new, it's been $31 since the beginning of 2026 from what I can remember, but $31 and it's probably 30% smaller than it used to be. For $31 you get a lobster roll that literally looks like a piece of Texas toast folded in half now, a 30% smaller portion of lobster, and if by some off chance you order the side salad, the side salad is also smaller. I can go on about all of the other cuts that are evident, but the $31 lobster roll is about the best display of the dismal direction Nobel House is headed. Sad... Nobel House, you'll be missed.

Our waitress greeted us warmly and quickly brought out water and coffee. She did a great job of keeping both glasses and mugs full throughout the meal. I got it with bacon as my meat and dipped it in the chipotle vinaigrette on the side as I ate it. It was awesome! I really loved that instead of black beans, there were refried beans in it, as they added a great creaminess to the meal. The fruit bowl was also impressive to me, as it was full of diverse fresh fruit. It was better than the normal assorted melons I am used to at restaurants. I got an iced salted caramel latte to go before leaving since we had a long car ride ahead of us. It was on the sweet side, with little espresso flavor coming through, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. They were vegan by default here, cooked in oil My husband got his very favorite, Eggs Benedict. Whether he likes the Hollondaise or not pretty much determines if we shall return to a breakfast diner. He said there was nothing bad about the Eggs Benedict, but he would not return for them. There was nothing much for vegans either, so I would not return.
