My husband and his coworkers get food from Lew's all the time, and he kept raving about their breakfast burrito. One Saturday morning, before heading to Energy City Brewing Co. (to stand in line for one of their new beer releases) we hit up Lew's for breakfast burritos. First off, the place is a small hole-in-the-wall, and the restroom was nasty, but the servers seemed nice and friendly.  You also get a lot of food, and it's cheap.   The burritos were pretty good.  I would have preferred chorizo instead of breakfast sausage. (I think I said that to my husband 4 times while we ate. They really need a chorizo breakfast burrito!!). The OJ was probably from a bottle or a can, so nothing special there.   They have a lot of Mexican lunch/dinner options on the menu, but not a ton of breakfast.  I guess it was good because of the amount of food you get. Our bill was about $13. That was for 2 burritos and 1 orange juice. We could only finish half and ate the rest the next morning. So, definitely budget friendly. read more

A couple years ago I was told by a co-worker to try the tacos. I had a shrimp taco and a fish taco with a side of rice. The portions were very generous and the tacos were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I have been back several times since when I am in Batavia and have thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Wow, just ate here twice in the last two days and loved it each time. Really good food and very reasonable prices and a very friendly staff make this place a fun little "divey" place to eat at. "Divey" is a compliment in that it is a very casual unpretentious place with counter service, not a lot of ambiance in the traditional sense but doesn't need it due to its amazing food quality and low prices. Their specialty seems to be mexican food, but they also do well with conventional food like burgers, dogs and fries. Most will like this place for quality fare, and reasonable prices and quick friendly service. They have a Buffet on Sundays 8am until 1pm. A friend and I went for Sunday brunch buffet and it was excellent. A nice variety of Mexican food and traditional American breakfast food. There was rice, beans, chorizo and eggs, pastor pork with pancakes, sausage, hash browns and French toast. And more. Decor is dated but clean, and I wasn't there for the decor anyway. I'm hesitant of fancy schmancy places and chain restaurants, because I'm more concerned about using the right fork and not spilling food than appreciating the heart and effort put into a good meal. This place is gross! The owner looked at me crazy each of the 2 times I've been there. I've never met a business owner that doesn't at least pretend to care! He acts like I 'm inconveniencing by placing an order. I don't t know if it's grumpy old man syndrome, or what. I order a steak burrito and noticed he never washed his hands, or put on gloves! Then when I asked why he didn't wear gloves he just shrugged his shoulders, like he did give 2 fucks! I got a refund and gave him a piece of my mind!Not sure how this place is open still when there are usually no cars in the lot. But to each his own, if you like it! I've been a customer of this place for twenty years. When Lew sold the restaurant to Rafael it went thru some big changes with the food but not much else. After all the glowing reviews I will try and be honest. The food Is fair and the place is a dump. The toilet is usually dirty and the seat on the commode has been broken for several years. The seating in the dining room is old and uncomfortable. Dingy pictures of plates of food hanging on the walls look anything but appetizing. Paper signs in the windows advertising specials block out the light. Some of the food is good, some not so much. I ordered a burrito. It came covered with black specks from a grill that isn't cleaned very often. I still eat there on occasion, but not as much as in the past. People I work with will no longer go there. Very disappointed after reading all of the reviews. Dark, dingy, and dirty. Went at 5:30 on a Saturday evening and the parking lot was empty. I ordered the big lew cheeseburger and my girlfriend ordered the chicken fajitas. I tried to order the steak nachos but the guy told me that it would be too much food. Never knew of anyone that would turn down business. Instead he gave us a few chips with a drizzle of cheese for free. Nice gesture, but not what I wanted. Burger was dry and had no flavor. The bun seemed like it was old as it crumbled apart while I ate it. The fajitas were very bland. No Taste at all. I will never go back to this place again. read more

I hadn't been here in about over 10 years. It was a good burger joint then. But now, it's a great all around joint. American and Mexican food. But if you're a fan of authentic mexican, skip the American food. You can get that anywhere. The steak fajitas are excellent. If you want it spiced up a bit, they will slice some fresh jalapenos and stir that in the mix. Very tasty, priced right... and a breakfast buffet that I havent had yet read more

We go here sometimes for the Sunday brunch buffet after church and have had them cater a party for us. This is an inexpensive diner. As to the Sunday brunch buffet - Pros: nice variety of food, Mexican and American choices, plenty for the kids to choose from, "real" sausage and bacon, the owner will also play guitar and sing sometimes which is pretty cool to hear. Cons: if you go too much past 12:30 or it's a particularly slow day, the food is sometimes cold and sometimes it's hard to get a refill on the coffee but I guess I shouldn't be drinking that much anyway. As to the catering - the rice, beans and fajitas are so good in the buffet that we have used this place to cater a family party and got TONS of compliments on the food. :) Overall really good place to go for Sunday brunch - especially early in the morning and they have excellent catering prices and service. read more

We just went for our first time, and this place is a hidden gem. Yes, it is a no frills place, but the Sunday buffet was amazing. The workers are super friendly and all the food was fresh and hot. No doubt that we will be back soon to try other items on the menu. Definitely worth stopping in. read more

This guy makes a pretty damn good taco and torta

Saw all the great reviews so was really excited to try the place. Per their website, their Sunday breakfast buffet was 7.95 w/drink included. At 8:30 am (started at 8:00) the food already was luke warm and appeared as if it was sitting for a long time. Not a lot of flavor in anything, overcooked almost burnt sausage, eggs were rock hard. Imagine my surprise when I went to pay and was charged for 4 beverages. I mentioned that they were supposed to be included and was told very curtly that they were not. I told her their website says they are included and she just stared at me say no. Not happy about paying an extra $8 for drinks, 2 of which were pretty horrible coffee. Won't be back, especially after spying the dirty kitchen when I went up to pay. read more
