Great experience at Open Range for Father's Day! We had a reservation for a party of 9 and they were able to accommodate us with two large round tables. Our server Luis did great keeping track of us and got all of our food order correct. The country skillet with pancakes was a favorite by many at our table. I enjoyed the vegetarian omelette and added sausage links to the inside of it. The potatoes are delicious. Filled with peppers and onions. They don't start serving lunch till 11am and kids eat free today! Woo hoo! read more

I am surprised every time by the people, the service and the food. They have a wonderful menu; something for everyone. We are trying to visit once a month, at least, and today, the owner came over to say hi and make sure that everything was okay. We will be back soon since we will, probably, need some chili on these cold days. read more

We have been coming here for well over 10 years. We went again a couple of weeks ago, and had a great meal. Went with my parents (who can be a little picky :) but they were really impressed. This was my first time here...I dislike leaving bad reviews but in order to make things better, they need to be aware of issues. We called on Wednesday and made a reservation for Saturday night. When we arrived on Saturday night there was no reservation? We were told we could sit and wait for the next available table, no apology no reason given. Bad first impression. When we were finally seated and ordered a pizza and had the wait staff repeat to us that we wanted NO olives on one side. Pizza came with olives on the entire pizza and we received a 'sorry'...all in all not a great night. No one seemed to care that their customer service or lack of it was no big deal. With the price of eating out, there are plenty of other places to spend out money. Too bad for this place as we won't be back. read more

We had a family reunion here. I was glad that the buffet style had a lot of food for everyone. They also did a good job of refilling the salmon, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. I do wish the two bones of ribs were a bit bigger, they're on the smaller side. Salmon pieces were 4 oz and that was sufficient. I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. Good flavor. There were also a lot of green beans, salad, and fruit. Soda came with the buffet. Service was very good. They were attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly. Plenty of parking but I guess for additional parking you have to park in the grass. read more

We enjoy the outdoor seating at the Open Range Grill and today the food was spectacular. I had the Root Vegetable Salad special and enjoyed every bite! My husband had a fried chicken breast sandwich on a pretzel bun and said it was exceptional. read more

Food was great. I got the pulled pork sandwich with no slaw. It was really good. Side of Mac and cheese was alright, kinda tasted like paneras Mac and cheese which I'm not really a fan of. Ambiance was cool, course was pretty nice. read more

Went to a buffet over for a banquet recently and the one thing that bothered me was not that they were understaffed. It also wasn't that they ran out of the entrees for a third of the party til we had to tell them. What bothered me was the pitchers they served with ice water was taken out of the .....bathroom. read more

We attended an event in the Pine Room recently. The restaurant served trays of prime rib, salmon, pasta, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad - all were exceptionally good. The room was beautiful, service was terrific at being attentive, everything was clean and neat. Great local spot. We even went here twice over a weekend. Great fish fry! All you can eat, although one serving was all I could eat. Delicious. The kitchen accidentally made a pizza so the waitress brought out the pizza and explained they would box up the calzone and I could take it home. Enjoyed the buy one get one pizza deal at Open Range on Monday and it was awesome!! The pizza is cooked perfectly just how I like it. It is a little crispier than other pizzas but the cheese it perfect. They overcook it a bit and it really is good. It was about $18 for each pizza and then you get one free! Great deal!!! The eggplant covered in tempura was awesome also and it's only $5! The beer is also on sale for $2 a pint on mondays. I will 100% be coming back and recommending. read more

Really glad we found this place. Now it's just a matter of how many times we come back. Open Range met and exceeded expectations from the moment we walked in. We were greeted promptly and our server took our order and had drinks to us within the first few minutes of sitting down. The food menu has a fairly large number of choices along the Tex-Mex variety but it doesn't stop there. There are an equal number of chicken, salad, seafood and other choices as well. My wife and I tried a pair of their chicken sandwiches and our son went with the fried shrimp. All three were delicious. Each of the chicken sandwiches were enormous cuts of meat served with a fat layer of trimmings and sauce. The waffle fries were a nice cut above ordinary fries. My son's shrimp plate came with rice and a salad. All in all he loved his dish as well. Open Range has a decent beer menu with a wide variety of styles and makers. There seemed to be a good 30-40 choices, including a lot of microbreweries. The ambiance here is calm and relaxing, TV's dot the walls if you're trying to catch a game, and they also have a large bar if you're not there to eat. The service here was second to none. Was looking forward to a good fish fry. We ordered crab cakes for an appetizer. It came 15 minutes after our dinner was served. The fish was served room temperature. The crab cakes weren't cooked through. So disappointed. The clam chowder and hush puppies were good and served hot. That was the only saving grace. read more

Pizza is hands down some of the best. Have had two parties in their Pine Room with top notch service. I've always had amazing items from the menu; steak nachos, fajitas, tumbleweed burger, and BLT blackened chicken sandwich, to name a few. We've been there quite a few times but this last time was, by far, the worst experience. The service was less than satisfactory... our burger came out on a moldy pretzel roll and a large chip on the plate. Our salads came out well after the hot food, like 15 minutes after. We tried to talk to the server but she walked away and grabbed an off duty manager that was sitting, drinking at the bar. She was put off by having to get up from the bar to address our issues. She comped the salads and burger.. which we did not eat anyway. The experience left a really bad taste and we will not be going back. Just be warned that they do not handle being busy well at all. I was with a group of 12 celebrating a Birthday on Saturday, 4/15/23. It was karaoke night and all was well until the restaurant employees requested and performed the most vile, repulsive, disgusting, nasty, and sexual oriented song (if you can call it that). When I say sexual is was the most graphic, inappropriate song your mind can imagine. As soon as we acknowledged what was taking place we immediately requested our tabs and left as quickly as possible. The blame goes to ownership for creating a culture within the organization that tolerates such behavior, the manager on duty for not only allowing it to happen but for participating in it, and the karaoke vendor for having such a song (?) in their catalog. This has no place IN A RESTAURANT (that is presumed to be a family establishment) or in society. I am done with Open Range. read more

Just moved into sugar grove and decided to try this place out because this place is busy- EVERY.DAY. the drinks weee great, the food was amazing and the service, well it was mediocre. Granted we were patient because we understand the world is chaotic right now with this pandemic and staff shortages. But the food was amazing, the Calzones are massive and can easily be shared by 4 people unless you're an eater or are hungry. I highly recommend this place! read more
