After hearing about all the hype about Uncle Lars, plus everyone who lives around here talks about it, I knew it was time for me to check out Uncle Lars. I was warned that pizza can take a while so I was waiting at 4pm for the place to open and I was 10th in line already. Luckily, I saw that they also take online orders too so I did that while on call. For dinner, we got 2 12" pizzas.. One was the Zach attack (sausage, Italian beef and giardinara) and the other was a customized veggie pizza, plus a side of cheesy bread. We did order pickup since we lived ~15 mins away in the backroads. The location was easy to find, and parking should be easy since it is in a big lot. Depending on the time, it could be hard to find but in Plano...I doubt that. The service was great. There was a lot of friendly people I encountered. When I got home, the smell was amazing. The cheesy bread was very cheesy. It contained, probably, at least a 1lb of cheese. The side was sauce was delicious and I liked how it was a thick pizza sauce and not runny. Maybe it was due to the 15 min drive, but I thought these pizzas were tavern style... thin and crispy. While the pizza was delicious, it was thin but it was not crispy. It was just a basic thin pizza. However, it had a lot of toppings on it! My wife got the double dough, and for a 12" pizza...it was too much dough for her. She said she will like to try the normal next time. Overall, the pizza was great. The quality was top notch. Flavors were there for a great pizza. I live in an area that my options for pizza is Papa Johns, Domino's, or Pizza Hut... if I had to compared to those local ones... Uncle Lars is 20 out 10, if not more. However, for a pizza itself... it was still delicious and I would get them again. Since the location is easy and they do have a decent amount of tables (depending on when you arrive)...I may try eating in next time. read more

First time here for us. We did a carry out. Mixed bag on the food. Chicken salad was fine. Wings were fine. The two large pizza's (one pepperoni and one sausage) were surprisingly tasty! The sauce makes it. Crust was nice and thin. Could have been a little crisper. I'd say one of the two best pizza places within reasonable driving distance from son"s place in Plano. read more

Great experience! My wife and I stopped in for dinner while camping in the area. We got the cheesy breadsticks and pizza. Both came out piping hot. The pizza was good, but the cheesy breadsticks were the star! Excellent with marinara, though the ranch was good as well. The owner was very kind and the whole staff was great. My family ordered a meal for seven, after a long day of sports and practices. Closing time comes around, so I call Unle Lars to check in. Turns out I had entered our address with one number off. Those neighbors accepted our dinner no problem. Neighbors get ZERO STARS! Upon hearing my disbelief and utter defeat, Uncle Lars went above and beyond to feed my family that night. Though no fault on their behalf, our money was refunded And they delivered Take and Bake AFTER the shop had closed! I want to acknowledge and Thank Uncle Lars Pizza. Above and beyond service! I am not a pizza fan at all. My husband however can eat pizza daily. I had tried Uncle Lar's before but he hadn't. He has heard from coworkers that the pizza was good. It had been a while for me so I didn't remember if I liked it or not. We ordered for delivery and got a a sausage , peppers, mushroom and onion pizza and the bacon cheddar breadsticks. Pizza was good. I liked the crust and the sauce. Definitely one of the best pizzas near me that I have had. Not too greasy. The breadsticks are also good and very filling. My only complaint was that the pizza was not hot by the time it got to us. Next time we will pick it up in hopes to be able to enjoy it hot. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Be prepared to wait... because it's worth it! We placed our order at 6pm (we didn't plan properly) and it said 125 minutes. It was a few minutes longer than that but delivered by a friendly driver and piping hot! Ordered two pizzas and a beef roll and everything was delicious! Will not be ordering from here again. I'm not the type to write reviews and I'm a very understandable person. This was our second time ordering from them because their pizza is very good. Unfortunately their service is not and quite the opposite after the experience we had tonight. Called and placed an order at 4:30, lady said it would be ready in 30 mins-45mins, no problem. I get there at 5:10 and they tell me I am early and haven't even put the pizza in the oven. I asked if she knew a new estimated time hence I have already driven there and was willing to wait. She began to get frustrated and said it would be an hour but didn't acknowledge they messed up on their part and tried to blame me. I was baffled and drove back home after saying I would wait and paid. I called back around 6 and nobody answered. I waited another 10 minutes, tried again and finally someone answered and said they couldn't find my order. The young man on the phone became panicked from their mistake and said a few cuss words while informing me the pizza was still not in the oven and apologizing. I asked for a refund since this has clearly been going on for 2 hours now and still no pizza. I do think this was handled very unprofessionally on their end and no gesture to compensate the way they treated a customer. read more

Great customer service ! Our double dough had a huge bubble form while baking. They started a new pizza before I arrived and showed me the bubble pizza. I thought it looked great still and decided to take the one with the bubble. Little did I know they were going to give it to me for free, completely shocked! It is with a completely shattered heart that I update my review. Uncle Lar's has been my favorite pizza for many, many years. It's the one thing I absolutely have to have when I come back to visit IL. I was skeptical of the ownership change. I tried it once after the change and it did seem to be like the original pizza. That was about 2-3 mos after the change (January/February). Fast forward to July and yikes. What happened? They were closed the first day I came to town, so my friend had picked up a frozen pizza on a Sunday & we made it the next day. It was so-so, but I chalked it up to being frozen. I knew I had to come back later in the week to try it fresh hot from the restaurant. What a disappointment. It tasted just as so-so as the frozen one. The crust is definitely different. It no longer has flaky layers, but now a bread-like fluffy texture. Ewww. Maybe they're using the same recipe, but forgetting a step in the kneading/stretching? And the sauce definitely tastes different, too. I was honestly crushed. My fav pizza is no more. I'm sad to say Uncle Lar's has been bumped off my priority list of must-haves when in town. And that makes me more than a little sad. read more

This is the best pizza I have eaten since moving to the Oswego and it is well worth the drive, whether you're dining in or placing a carryout order. The menu only consists of pizza, bread sticks and a couple sandwiches. The pizza is a bit pricey, but it's obvious this place is using fresh, quality ingredients...especially the sausage and sauce. The crust is soft and chewy, yet tasty. The staff is very friendly and the dining room atmosphere is very cozy/homey. After moving to Plano and needing a go-to pizza place, we decided to give this place a shot. Several people had said it was THE place to get pizza in Plano. Um, what? Our pizza (we picked up) was lukewarm, with a soggy crust in the middle of the pie. The toppings/cheese did not adhere to the crust at all, and slid off, no matter what kind of maneuvering or trickery we employed. It was sad. Toppings were odd, too - the green peppers were the consistency of Italian beef peppers, very wet & a dull green in color. The mushrooms, on the other hand, were still raw. I don't get it. They must have bent the laws of physics. LOTS of people recommended them, so I want to try again & see if this was a fluke, but my boyfriend & I both don't really feel like it when you get down to it. Homey small town pizza joint with decent pizza and killer cheese sticks! Unfortunately I have to edit my review due to the last couple experiences being quite underwhelming. My husband and I decided to dine in for dinner and waited 45 minutes for a chicken bacon cheese roll which was one of the worst choices I have ever made. We were so dissatisfied with the quality of the ingredients seeing as the "chicken" was more like processed fake chicken pieces. It was also so greasy and not satisfying what so ever. I will preach about the cheese sticks all day but unfortunately unless you just want crust and cheese as a main this may not be the place for you. read more

Quality and consistency.... That's what I look for in a pizza place. That being said, they knock it out of the park every time. I just moved to Plano a little over a year ago. We had pizza joint in my hometown that closed about 15 years ago. (My favorite of all time) To me it was incomparable to anything else. Until my wife and I tried Uncle Lar's. Sausage, green pepper, and onion, thats were its at! Its been perfect every time. Have yet to try some of there other (to me odd) pizzas, but my friend says they're just as good.
