Would rather not go back. It's kinda like one of those places you walk in a see a bunch of old people and leave. Food was unpalatable due to its salt or potassium content. As we know my wife and I love diners. This was one that we are on the fence about. The service is somewhat slow, I wasn't impressed with the handling of money then touching plates. The food over all was pretty good. It could use some help on the flavor side of things. My biggest thing is the cleanliness of the place. It just needs to close for a weekend and just deep clean. I love coming to Daddios diner. Whether I am here for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the food is always good! The staff is friendly and the owner is often here and working along side them. The decor is classic diner with lots of old time posters, albums and lunchboxes. You can also get a classic milkshake here!! A couple of my favorite items to order are the "No way Jose" for breakfast and the French dip panini for lunch or dinner. It's definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

I'm being generous with the 2-stars... Inconsistent service, which was terrible this time (above average other times). Have you ever had a server that was so incompetent and lost that you feel bad for them? Some people should not be in a customer-facing roll, yet the owner felt this young lady was qualified to serve customers, so the burden falls on ownership, also. He either KNOWS she's incompetent and doesn't care OR is not paying attention to recognize how poorly equipped she is to deliver minimally acceptable service. Which is worse? The food was mid. Bacon was burnt and still served. Empty glasses were not refilled. Coffee was not "warmed up" with a top off. Server needed to be reminded of multiple items, not brought to the table, which interrupts the meal as food is coming out in stages. Coaching a server to get all the food out and make necessary corrections is frustrating. Probably our last visit here - there are too many other good breakfast options in the area. read more

It had decent reviews and it was close, so winner, winner, breakfast dinner or lunch! I walked and was immediately greeted by friendly staff members and I was directed to sit anywhere I wanted. The look of this place is that of 1950s, which I liked in a sense of, I enjoy some of the retro things. I took a seat, the waitress came over almost right away, I ordered water no ice and placed my breakfast order (3 eggs sunny side up with Canadian bacon, hash browns and panini toast), I also ordered side salad with no olives, no onions and I am pretty sure said no cheese (it will be important later). It did not take too long for my food to come out. My main dish came out first, followed by the salad... I was expecting salad first and then the dish... But fine, not a big deal... One of the eggs was damaged and yolk dripping all over my hash browns and meat... And I look at the salad and it has cheese... Not a biggie, but I was pretty sure I said no cheese. The salad was alright, your typical salad. The hash browns were lukewarm, the meat was a little chewy and the eggs were so so, a bit cold as well. The toast was delicious on the other hand. I must say, I probably will not be back, as the toast and service were about the only two good things this joint has to offer... My bill arrived and I was expecting it to be about what it was. I came up front to pay and was asked if I wanted to put a tip on the card, which I agreed to, I asked the person to round it up to $20, when I got my copy of the receipt, it was $20.62... Apparently, there was a 62 cents charge for non-cash payment... WTF?!?! Please, next time tell a customer that you charge them for using a credit card! I am sorry, but this is completely unacceptable in 2020 to have that extra charge for using a credit card! Your prices should already reflect accepting the credit cards and if they don't (which by the way, I was at the other breakfast joint across the street and prices are cheaper there and they don't charge fees for paying with a credit card) you are not running your business correctly. I had a less than stellar experience at Daddio's Diner when attempting to have lunch on a weekday. A friend and I aspired to have lunch here but, upon arriving, I quickly realized it was not meant to be and an alternative was needed. The reason for this: the place was packed. Not a seat in the house. Oh well, it happens, especially at lunch time. However, the fact that it is a popular place is not where I took issue. The problem was that when I arrived I was completely ignored by multiple staff members. Now, this is not a big place. You enter the front door and you're literally standing in the middle of the restaurant and in the main path of servers and other staff. And there I stood, with a baby carrier in-hand, and not a single staff member greeted me, gave a wave, or even attempted eye contact. I can only assume that they figured I'd get the hint that there was no room to have a meal but they most certainly could have been even the slightest bit cordial. Finally, after several minutes of zero contact, I turned around and left to find another place for us to eat. Perhaps the staff was stressed by the size of the crowd. Or they were (all?) just having bad days. But, perhaps, this is how they treat their customers? I'm not sure... but I'm not rushing back in any time soon to find out. read more

The pancakes and chilaquiles are hands down my two favorite menu items here. Their pancakes never disappoint in size (so big!) but so delicious! Their chilaquiles has the perfect balance of heat and flavor with each bite. Portion is big and your guaranteed not to ever leave hungry. This place is a perfect addition to downtown Batavia and is super family friendly & has that classic diner feel but with a modern twist. Went to this place because someone we know said they like it and go there often; I should have known better. The place is filthy, looks and feels dirty, ordered a coffee and the server is holding it from the top where you drink with the same dirty hands, she just handled cash, no sense of sanitation. The food was not good at all the sandwich the wife got for $15 was this dried-out meat that looked like it had been sitting around for weeks. I got a burger that looked and tasted like one might get in a school cafeteria at best. Food here blows. Bathrooms there are a filthy disgusting mess as well, can only imagine what the back of the house looks like. Wish I would have followed my first instinct and walked out after getting the coffee. Never again, could have got a better meal across the street at McDonalds and paid 1/3 the price. read more

Went here with my mom for a Saturday brunch/lunch and it was very busy. Not a ton of seating, but they also have outside seating which helped dilute the crowded inside. The portions were pretty nice and the staff was very friendly. I felt it took our food a little too long and had to ask how much longer it would be. I'll avoid this place during peak times in the future. Gets too tight and everyones mood turns to shit, even the customers are rude. I sat at the counter for 12 minutes on Black Friday and finally said something, after I overheard the server ask a patron who just walked in the door if they'd like a beverage. That's when I spoke up... as I wanted to be sure I wasn't a ghost or in invisible mode? The kitchen is feet from the counter amd is organized chaos. I think my server Mike is green. Doesn't seem to work well under pressure and should learn to make contact with his customers when they arrive. There was a ridiculous amount of time trying to get someones attention, who is never more than 10' from in his station. I'll stick with going at off peak times, lesson learned. I was disappointed in the cod fish fry. The Facebook post had three large pieces of fish. My order had two pieces of fish slightly larger than fish sticks. They were fast and nice. If I go back it'll be for diner food. read more

This is only a breakfast joint to me, however the service here is always attentive. The exception is the "Cook" who is consistently too efficient for his own good. I think the well tenured "Cook" has become complacent given his longevity here slinging hash. This dude is quick to plate an order, but it's a Damn Shame when his efficiency trumps quality. At times I think he is on automatic pilot, and more than not...it shows. "I'm tired of ordering a cheese onion and tomato omelet where all the skimpy ingredients only fill the half ass side of the plate". "I must have missed the "Half-Ass Omelet" on the menu were it's the "Cooks Option" to fill ONLY the left or right side. Went into Daddio's for the first time. I was out running errands by myself, needed to eat, but didn't want fast food. Thought I would check this out. The place is cute. They have a lot of kitschy vintage items covering the walls I didn't expect it to be as small as it is. You walk in the door and, bam, you can't walk much farther. This adds to the charm. There are about 4 or 5 counter seats and about 7 or so booths. I chose a counter seat since I was alone. The waitress, Darice, I think was the only waitress, she was attentive and friendly to me and the other patrons. There were probably about 4 booths filled with customers. I ordered a chicken pesto panini with chips. They fry the chips, so they are hot and fresh. They aren't fresh cut, they're frozen, but frying them up fresh made them yummy. My panini was huge. I only had half of it and brought the rest home. While I was there, there was a man cleaning the windows and a refrigerator repair person working on things. This didn't bother me because work has to get done and things need to be in working order. When I walked out to my car, the owner came out the side door and thanked me for coming in. He also apologized for all the work going on. I was startled because it really didn't bother me, but it was very nice of him to acknowledge this. Lived in Batavia for over 4 years and this spot's been on my list for a while. You walk in and are instantly transported to the 50's. Seating is very limited so don't bring a group of more than 3 or 4. Service was great, very welcoming. Made me feel like a regular even though I'd never been before! I'm simple and had a basic breakfast (for lunch) but don't underestimate their description of the "record" sized pancakes. I was proud to finish 1/2 of mine! Served food I didn't order and server came back and said that's the way it comes, I asked to have it remade the way I would like: mind you there's no description of a skillet made with frozen potatoes and mushrooms, but that's what I was served. She came back 5 minutes later and said they ran out of a simple ingredient, which I then cancelled my order completely. So didn't eat.. The side of bacon was served at room temperature which quickly changed to cold. The owner could have cared less or would have said something. Understaffed and has fallen short of what it used to be. Daddio's is a great place to get that Old Time Diner feel. the Nostalgia of the decor is always a Flash back & the tunes are always a nice trip back in time. The owner doesn't mind if you sing along. You'll catch him singing at times too. The food is always Hot off the grill. The Pancakes are Huge & Delish!! Pumpkin Pancakes are My Favorite. The French Dip Panini is a Go to for my Husband. The milkshakes are great!!! They make their Potato chips!!!! The summer has Outdoor seating. It is a great way to catch a nice Meal. Breakfast is always a GREAT way to Start the day. My family and I absolutely love Daddio's!! We have been back time and time again for the amazing food specials which are always changing and always delicious. My favorite are the omelettes which are absolutely massive on their own and even more filing with the sides they're served with. In the summer we love to sit out on the patio for weekend brunch where our favorite server is usually working. The food comes out quickly and the service is always great!
