The beef tallow angle is what drew me in, but the execution doesn't match the marketing. High-fructose corn syrup maple syrup and ketchup kind of defeat the purpose. You can't claim "no seed oils" "beef tallow" and then only halfway commit to ingredient quality. I guess I'll just bring my own maple syrup and ketchup next time. Food otherwise is great.

Went on a Thursday and got sat promptly. Biscuits were tasty and filling, cookie butter latte wasn't as sweet as expected, and Little Goats crepe was good but on the dry side could use a sauce of some sort.

Absolutely wonderful! First time at Buttermilk and I'd make it a staple visit if I lived closer to Geneva. Our hostess for breakfast was wonderful - kind, attentive, friendly and made me feel like I knew her for years (thanks Melissa!) So many breakfast options available, something for everyone to eat, and gluten free options! I settled for the mountain house skillet which was so good, probably the best skillet I've had in a long time. My husband had the classic eggs Benedict. Their homemade jam was excellent (comes free at the table) and lots of coffee and drink options. Their pancakes looked so good - definitely saving for next time. Highly recommend!

Our wait time was about 5-10 mins so not too bad, our service was just decent he checked up on us and made sure we were taken care of. I got the B to the G with the E which was pretty good but it is very heavy for sure. My friend got a waffle with strawberries which was 16-17 dollars which I found insane. Considering it was one waffle and a handful of strawberries. I also got a brown sugar shaken espresso with vanilla cold foam which was pretty nice. I've been here before and I do like coming here the restaurant is pretty cute and the place is nicely decorated. I usually prefer the Geneva one since it's closer and in a better location. Overpriced sometimes but usually makes up for the price. 3.75/5

Went here for breakfast with a friend. There was no wait at 8:30am. They do have a separate GF menu however it is pretty limited. I ordered GF pancakes with bananas and crispy potatoes. The food was delicious and the service was very good.

Buttermilk is a hot brunch spot, especially on the weekends, so be sure to arrive early or put your name on the online waitlist. Despite having to wait a bit out front, my family and I had a lovely time! The restaurant has an expansive menu as well as a separate vegan/gluten free menu. We tried a few omelets and the corned beef hash. A side biscuit is a MUST no matter what you order!! The restaurant was lively and full, but didn't feel too crowded. Our server, Gretchen, was the sweetest, and she was so helpful and attentive!!!!

Chilaquiles were so good and the chips stayed crisp

My return to Buttermilk was so much better. It's amazing how one different dish can change one's perspective. Service and atmosphere remained the same. This time around I had chilaquiles, one buttermilk biscuit, and one honey biscuit. The chilaquiles came big and hot with crispy chips tucked under two tender sunny side up eggs. You've got my attention when you serve up a dish with non soggy chips. This entree was savory and packed with flavor coming from the salsa, the chipotle crema, and pickled red onion. I also appreciated the generous amount of cheese given which slightly held everything together. I happily ate every filling bite and took the biscuits home for later. Both biscuits were different in flavor and texture. The buttermilk was sturdy with a crisp exterior and fairly dry on the inside. This type of biscuit is perfect candidate for breakfast sandwiches and will hold up to most moist ingredients. The honey was slightly sweet, moist, and slightly crumbly making a perfect choice to spread preserves or jam on!

First of all, best french toast I've ever had. The fruit sauce and toasted almonds were perfect, and the amount of sweetness was tasteful, not overpowering. The orange juice seemed to be fresh squeezed, if I understood the menu properly. The menu offering was extensive but not overwhelming. Prices are high - so if you're looking for a cheap diner, this is not it. I went with my toddler and got french toast, orange juice, and two sausage links for myself, and a kids combo plate for him. Our total came to $41 before tip, so I'm not sure I'll be back too often unless I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket. The service was prompt and polite! If money's not a concern, come to Buttermilk! If it is, just beware of ordering sides and drinks, they'll add up quick.

How to add name to waitlist?

On the day you plan to come in, go to their profile on yelp, and you will find the prompt to add your name to their waitlist

What is the minimum of people? Can 2 people go and get seated?

I was seated in a large, spacious booth as a party of two over the summer, so I believe the answer is yes

Are they still open for sit down dining?

    Yes they are

Is buttermilk open on memorial day?

Yes normal hours 7 to 2:30!

How would I use yelp to skip a wait in line? It was suggested in a review but I'm not seeing how I'd go about doing so.

We have a Nowait app that you can download and get in line from home

Their preorder system is incredibly smooth, though it does require a bit of planning since you need to order at least a day in advance, and they are closed on Mondays. I scheduled an order on a Friday for a Tuesday morning pickup. I picked up a dozen GF donuts and a half-dozen chocolate chip cookies, and both were fantastic. They offer a ton of different donut flavors, though the ordering system limits you to choosing three varieties per dozen. I went with the banana bread, chocolate with chocolate icing and the brown sugar with chocolate icing, and they did not disappoint. The cookies were just as impressive, hitting that perfect texture without any of the dryness you sometimes find in gluten-free baking. The shop itself is super cute and perfectly set up for a quick visit. All the preordered to-go items are neatly laid out on a cabinet for a seamless pickup. If you have some extra time, they also have drinks and food you can order at the counter, a shared parking lot that makes stopping by a breeze, and a nice outdoor seating area. This place is incredible... the food is to die for. It's the first place I've been to and did not feel like bloated or so full to where I was sick because the portions were perfect. Nothing here fell short, in fact it's the first place in the burbs where the food wasn't overly salted or fried in some type of oil. Everything tasted fresh. The flavors were busting up in my mouth every bite I took, even down to snowball fight drink we had. I highly, highly recommend the bread cheese appetizer- this was something super unique to me as I've only had grilled up cheese one other time in Brazil, Queijo Coalho.... There was a beautiful twist on this cheese- crunchy, creamy, sweet, savory and the honey and tabbouleh were such a great finish to this dish. Pair this with the fresh bread and it was chefs kiss! We had the beer braised short rib and seabass- two completely different flavored entres that we absolutely perfect. The short rib you literally can't go wrong with- melted in my mouth with every bite - and hats off the the chef who cooked the onions so perfect to actually be able to taste them instead of just carmelizing or salting them! I would call this your typical Midwest comfort dish. The seabass was much different the salad was tangy with the lentils being rich- add a nice cooked crispy top seabass and you got yourself a unique dish of flavors that will have you thinking what's in it after hours! But the star of the show was dessert of course - OMFG - s'mores ice cream sunday ....... I died and went to heaven literally. I have never tasted ice cream that mimicked everything I've ever wanted my ice cream to taste like. It was the perfect temperature (trust me a lot of restaurants it's either rock hard or melted) this was epic. Creamy, almost pudding like and being able to taste every note was wild to me. The graham cracker - yes the freaking graham cracker was the best one I've ever tasted in my life. Clearly I've never had a graham cracker without preservatives before. The chocolate syrup .... Jeeze let me tell if I could swim in it I would.... The service was friendly, prompt and right on time. The server knew all the cues and timing of all the food to come out. She checked in everytime we got something to make sure everything was just right... you can tell she takes her job seriously but also knows how to interact with people - something a lot of servers lack these days so we really appreciated the service. As for the atmosphere- this place blows a lot of the chi city restaurants out of the water. The organic feel but fancy! Oh, and I can actually talk and hear myself think without blasting music over my head. We will be back ... but honestly please change nothing here- everything you're doing here is fantastic!
