This restaurant is in the strip in downtown Batavia and it doesn't look like much, but it was good. I got the three quesadilla meal to share with my little one, and it hit the spot. The chicken one was good but I may have liked the plain cheese one even better. Chips and salsa were ok... the salsa was fine though I've had better. There was only one woman waiting on the customers, I think, but we never felt neglected and our food didn't take long to arrive. I haven't been to Batavia in years and for that reason if I return I'd probably want to check another place out, but if I was here more regularly I'd return. read more

My brother and sister-in-law have been talking up the tacos at El Sazón for the past couple of years but this was my first time at the restaurant and it did actually live up to the hype. I ordered a cecina taco and two deshebrada tacos dorados. I like their tortillas a lot and the steak tasted great too. There's is an interesting and different take on the taco dorado. Their shredded meat is extra juicy but has a more beefy flavor than anything else. Although I usually prefer a little tomato or chile flavor to deshebrada I do have to admit that they were still really good and the tortillas were fried into perfect crispy shells. The salsas were also all really good. They serve Modelos in ice cold mugs and my sister-in-law says their margaritas are pretty good too. I thought maybe we were just getting special treatment from the staff because my brother's family were regulars but I noticed them being extra friendly with everyone who came in which was nice to see. They have a decent sized dining room and our group of 6 which included a baby in a car seat were able to sit comfortably in a booth they have with an extended table. If you're looking for good tacos in Batavia then you should definitely stop into El Sazón. read more

This is our go-to spot for local Mexican! We mostly order take out but have eaten in a few times as well. It is a hole in the wall but we love it! The staff are attentive and kind, food always comes quickly and their red sauce is my favorite. We almost always order the veggie burritos and they are consistently good. I came in on a Sunday with my older son. We had never been here before and I was in the mood for green chilaquiles. I'm so glad they had the chilaquiles. My son had a michelada and a torta. The food was delicious and fresh. It had the homemade taste. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The place was not noisy or too crowded. The salsa that they serve with their chips is to die for. I pick up chips and salsa from El Sazon for most watch parties that I attend and it's always a hit. The Cesina (marinated steak) tacos are our absolute favorites in the area. I actually believe they're one of the best value spots. The service is always pleasant and the staff is courteous. Prices are fair (there's a lot of places that charge so much for tacos - I'm so glad that El Salzon is one of the few that stays reasonable). Hot Salsa with chips was a great start. I ordered my favorite dish I get at every Mexican restaurant which is a steak burrito. It was okay nothing exceptional. This place has amazing tacos! You do not go here to take bougie pictures or get your instagram moment, you go here to enjoy deliciously made tacos that are simple and to the point. Made a quick late lunch stop here after browsing all the cute shops in downtown Batavia. We were able to sit outside and our waitress was very nice. My husband ordered a beer and it came with a frosted glass rimmed with salt. I have never tried Jamaican Water and it was sweet but ice cold and was good with the complimentary chips and salsa. The chorizo taco was very flavorful and I would order it again. The pastor Taco was very dry but benefitted by the two varieties of hot sauce. My husband had the marinated steak taco which he enjoyed but his chicken taco was also dry. He also had rice and beans which were typical. If you didn't know it was there, you'd drive right by but, if you love Batavia Creamery like we do, you've seen it a hundred times. No idea what took us so long to eat here but glad we did. So many Mexican places to choose from between Aurora and Elgin but this one gets all of the standards correct. We started with some choriqueso (our favorite any any restaurant that has it) and for mains we had a Steak Burrito and Chicken Fajitas. Very good flavors and I've never had a burrito with crema in it, and it did make a difference. Now I'm going to want that at every Mexican place I go. If I could give this restaurant a negative stars I would. Not because of effects by the server. Do to the poor quality of food and products. Less then average. For example the chips were a poor quality of store bought definitely not freshly made. Same with guacamole not freshly made poor store bough quality. We ordered chicken tacos they were also just skimpy of the chicken and cilantro which was the only thing that came on them. The portion sizes were so small I put all three tacos on one. Recently moved to Batavia and haven't found my go to Mexican joint till I found this spot. The quality and quantity of the food you order is superb. Not to mention the cleanliness and and the speed of service we received just put the icing on the cake. My wife and I are taking a break from drinking but almost wish we weren't because we saw some of the drinks that came out and they looked really good! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and sat right down to the table our host has just cleaned. The server came immediately after with menus and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. We received our appetizer quickly and our entrees even faster. A great place to go if you're looking for a quick delicious meal. Great little restaurant. I stopped in to get a couple of the tacos pastor to go. I went to a park across the street and they were still too hot to handle. And they smelled so good. As I waited for them to cool, I took a few nibbles. Delicious! They come with the standard cilantro and onion, as well as some hot sauce and a couple limes.
