My significant other and I just walked out of this place. The story: We sat at the bar and figured out what we wanted. No one ever came to talk to us. Never got a greeting outside of the hostess, who was lovely. Finally I asked her if someone was working the bar and she pointed to the man putting glasses away right in front of us. Bien Trucha absolutely delivers. The chicken taco was incredible--so smoky, rich, and packed with flavor. The elote corn was just as good, creamy and perfectly seasoned. I also tried a non-alcoholic tequila drink, and it blew me away--refreshing, balanced, and honestly one of the best NA cocktails I've had anywhere. But the real showstopper? The churros at the end. Crispy on the outside, soft inside, and ridiculously good. I'd come back just for those alone. From start to finish, every bite felt thoughtful and full of flavor. We came here for a pre-dinner drink, and I almost regret not just coming here for dinner too. We sat at the bar, which was tucked in a corner and ordered a couple drinks and guac. WOW. This is one of my favorite restaurants. I recommend making a reservation as it's very popular. It's a quaint place as well so it fills up quickly. My favorite place to sit is outside on the patio. All the tacos are delicious and I like that they rotate the menu every few months so there's always something new to try but that they also keep the tried and true classics. It's hard to say my favorite taco honestly because they're all so good. The drinks are also really good and my favorite is the strawberry margarita. Worth the higher price 1000%. All in all - a good taco place in Geneva. Had heard about it for years and finally tried it last weekend. It's a very small place - I would say ~35 people can be in the dining room and on busy weekend nights - they open BTK Dining room next door. It was a tad confusing on the website what the difference in dining rooms were. They then have the huts outside somewhere - for more space. Our drinks were delicious - I got the Pepino spicy and my husband had the regular margarita. For food - we started with the shrimp fundido and then got half orders of the Octopus, Diablo, and Bien Trucha tacos. Our fave was the octopus. I thought the shrimp in the diablo was overcooked. All the food was good - actually quite good...but not worth the drive from DG for it. Numerous other taco places in DG for us to go to. Weird little space--was it once a residence? A hot dog stand? No one knows, but the tacos are impeccable and they have an avocado margarita (ahuacatl) which is hard to find. This is the same restaurant group as A Toda Madre in Glen Ellyn. Our one beef: stop the 3% hidden fee nonsense. We received a gift card for this little gem and was not disappointed. We ordered drinks, a margarita and Pacifica beer. We started with the trio salsa appetizer, no longer on the menu. The salsas were fresh and spicy. We each ordered taco, the Bein Trucha and Carnitas, The carne asada were so good and covered with roasted serrano salsa. The pork shoulder was tender and so well done. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside on a hot, humid night and the indoor is intimate with cushioned benches. Terrible rude service over the phone trying to place a pick up order. I'm 9 months pregnant and have a gluten allergy along with my mother whom has celiac disease and we both wanted to order take out. I tried placing an order online and they showed certain foods were gluten free and you had to check a box to confirm there are allergies. Well I just wanted to make sure and double check that's these items stated on the website were truly gluten free so I called the restaurant to place the order over the phone instead. The woman who answered was overwhelmed and annoyed by my SIMPLE questions in relation to gluten allergies . She put me on hold 2x bc for some reason she couldn't answer my questions about gluten. This is a higher end Chicago suburb based Mexican restaurant and servers should be FULLY trained on allergies. Well... she didn't realize that I could hear her the 2x she put me on hold and I could hear everything she was saying about me (which was not nice). And mind you I'm a nice person and I was speaking to her kindly and respectfully. This is was so unprofessional and unacceptable at an establishment like this. I have NEVER taken time to write a review ever and here I am. Also HUGE mistake on their end that they are stating items are gluten free on their online ordering website when they are not. Tried Bien Trucha - needed a quick place to eat lunch during my work day. Pretty good! I got the carnitas tacos - a full order which was 4 tacos, for $18. I asked for no cilantro or onions. Tacos came with avocado type sauce which was pretty good! Meat was fresh and reasonably generous. Overall enjoyed my tacos! Would recommend and will likely go back at some point to try other stuff. Absolutely wonderful restaurant in St. Charles! We had such a phenomenal evening here, it is elegant yet fun, quick food yet delicious! We started out getting the three dips (I forgot the menu name) but it consisted of traditional guac, guac del Dia, and elote dip. All of them were delicious, my favorite being the elote dip! Then I got the bien truecha tacos (steak + chorizo) and the Al pastor. My mom got the carnitas, and all of the tacos we had were delicious! The one thing I would've hoped for is if we heard the specials of the day, because they had some really interesting specials that we probably would've tried.
