I ordered from here during the week and enjoyed it. This is a carry out spot only. It looks like a house and can easily be missed since it's not your typical restaurant lookin establishment. This is a family owned business, I think a dad and son run it. I ordered online and my food was almost done when I arrived. The son asked how I found em and I had said I saw they had great reviews on Yelp. He then explained I should look at the google reviews instead. He expressed that Yelp deleted 300+ of their 5 star reviews since they didn't want to pay to claim their business. True or not? Idk. He also said he's trying to get their ratings higher on Yelp but it takes months for the reviews to post. Again, how true that is, IDK. I'm posting my review on 6/18/2026 so we'll see when it becomes visible. When I checked out their Yelp page I did notice a lot of recent 5 star reviews from people who only reviewed La Birria Loca. Regardless... I had 3 Quesabirria tacos and thought it was full of flavor. The sauce was also delicious. Pricing is on the higher said and if you're wanting any type of side toppings it's considered an up charge and the portion is micro tiny small. read more

My first visit to La Birria Loca. I was initially expecting a sit-down restaurant, but it turned out to be carry-out only, with a few picnic tables in the back for seating. That was a surprise at first, but we made it work. One thing that caught me off guard was the pricing. When ordering, I was asked if I wanted pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole, but it wasn't clear these were additional charges. I assumed they came with the meal. Three orders plus drinks ended up being over $100, which was unexpected. I did have to double-check the receipt, and to their credit, the staff quickly removed the extra charges once I brought it up and told him I didn't need pico, sour cream and gaucamole. Our tab still came to $87 for the 3 entrees with drinks. Despite that, the food itself was very tasty. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared, and we were genuinely surprised at how good it was. Consume was one the best I've had hands down. They portion sizes are well worth it. Their hot sauces were also excellent, with spice levels clearly labeled by number, which made it fun to try different heat levels. Overall, even with the confusion around pricing and setup, I would definitely come back again for the food. read more

Man were we amazed... We were in the area due to my brother having a baseball game and we searched up food near us & we saw they had a birria taco spot like 7-8 min away. We pull into the parking lot the first thing I tell my husband is "well this looks promising" AND WE WERE DEFINITELY RIGHT! From the moment we walked in we were amazed by the artwork we were surrounded by and we were immediately greeted by this wonderful guy I forgot his name but he was so cool. Our food was amazing it definitely hit the spot. Can't wait to come back!! Went in for the first time ever today (Father's day) and ordered off of doorsash. The gentlemen that handed me my food was very kind and let me know that doordash over charges their menu and to go a different route the next time I order online, so I really appreciated that. Next, the food. The food was DELICIOUS. Hands down some of the best tacos I've had in a while. The sauce that they gave us was also more on the creamy side than the saucy side and I really enjoyed that, it was different than what I'm used to. We stopped on a recommendation from a store we were in. It's a take out spot so you are aware. They do have 3 picnic tables out back when the weather is nice. The staff is personable and the inside is small but clean. I got the quesabirria quesadilla. Grass fed beef which was delicious. My husband had the tacos. Both were missing the crunch we like but still very good. I suggest calling ahead as it takes a while but worth the wait if you don't. Eyeball the artwork in the walls in the meantime. The beans and rice added on for $2.99 were eh. And very small. Luckily they gave you consume, limes, onions, salsa, cilantro for those who like it. Delicious food and vegetarian friendly! Fast service and friendly people. Conveniently located near the train station so I was able to quickly grab my food and take it to go. The food tasted fresh bad if you like hot sauce you MUST try the habanero. I am always searching for a good spicy sauce and this was one of the best I've ever had. Also has the Tres Leches cake which was moist and delicious. They have rotating flavors as well! First time here! I was warmly welcomed by Joe and Dan (not sure I got the names right!). They helped me choose beef and cheese tacos, which were absolutely delicious. They serve it with a consommé for dipping that is delicious. It also came with chopped onion and cilantro and a variety of sauces. I brought the same home for my husband and he loved them! Next level food experience!!! Got to hand it La Birria Loca! This is my hands down favorite introduction to a restaurant! Upon walking in I was greeted and asked if I was new, they had a feeling it was my first time in. I was given an introduction to what the restaurant does and who they are. I ordered a 3 Birria taco dinner with rice and beans for lunch. The food was excellent and paired with three sauces one hotter than the next. This joint is family operated, compliments to everyone here you can taste the love and authenticity to it! Place is riddled with cool urban metal art! Anyway - you ever wonder what it feels like when Jesus comes down and blesses you? Eat at La Birria Loca. My goodness their food hits EVERY TIME!!! I lived in the city for over 10 years before coming back to the burbs. Chicago has some of the best Mexican food, but La Birria Loca beats most of them out. No doubt about it that their consume is the absolute best. The meat quality is just unmatched. You won't find better quality steak, beef, or chicken. I'd put money on that statement. My husband and I have had their tacos, Baja tacos, Birria ramen, super beef burritos and finally today tried the Quesabirria. I won't lie, it hits my soul a little when I click the order button because their prices are a lot higher than most Mexican restaurants, BUT the second you take a bite, all is forgotten. They have a high quality product. The Quesabirria was hands down my favorite thus far with the Birria ramen close behind. Their Baja tacos are also some of the best tacos. My only suggestion to this place would be to consider making the corn tortillas fresh to order. That is the only thing Invicto in Naperville has on this place. If La Birria Loca had the corn tortillas of Invicto, they'd be stealing the entire state of illinois for best Mexican food. First time, and boy I was impressed! Grass fed and grass finished beef is the highest quality, and that's what got me in the door. I had three large corn birria tacos- they came with onion, cilantro, two sauces and of course the consommé on the side. Excellent. Two gentlemen working had the best personalities- one was the owners son. Friendly, lively , engaging, unexpected. I don't know what makes them so happy to be at work, but boy they give a great impression. The building itself is decorated so cool. We had just finished a cancer awareness walk and wanted to find a casual, local Mexican restaurant. We are from out of town, but we loved talking with the family who owns the place. They gave us a lot of history of the building, talked to them about their band touring days, and enjoyed hearing the passionate stories about their food. We both got the birria chilaquiles (off their secret menu--use their QR code to find their link tree that has their current full menu) and it was DELICIOUS. It's dunked in their level 4 sauce (tangy and mild) with delicious birria meat and pico de gallo. Additionally, DO NOT miss the churro cheesecake! It is everything. Not too sweet, so creamy, still thinking about it hours later. You can only take out. Long complicated building codes prevent them from being a sit down restaurant but there is a cute park behind the building. Just be aware that bathrooms might be locked! read more

Birria burrito no onion Large koRn Steak quesadilla platter Dreamsickle tres leches This comes with a ton of different sauces and I don't know why or what they are but it's fun to try them and several of them are very good (I liked orange). This tres leches was ridiculously excellent. Apparently they have rotating flavors so this is going to be the star of this restaurant for me and pretty much the whole point of going here. They don't have horchata yet but apparently they're putting in the machine. The quesadilla was pretty boring and the steak was fine but it really wasn't worth the $2.50 up charge. Probably my fault for picking the most boring thing on the menu, I guess. The corn was pretty good - a goopy and buttery mess. The burrito is unbelievably huge and I was told it was good so maybe I'll try that next time. read more

I've been here twice due to experiencing intense cravings two days after finishing leftovers from my first visit. First visit I ordered the quesatacos platter which came with 3 birria & cheese tacos, beans, rice, and consommé. (Also: fresh lime, onion, and cilantro.) I'm not exaggerating (very much) when I say I almost passed out from delirium after my first bite of taco! OMG so good! The portion size of the tacos blew me away. I ended up only finishing one at a time. The good news is that these reheat nicely in the air fryer. I almost never get too excited about rice, so it's not a dig when I say the rice was 'fine'. The beans had a nice flavor but were a tiny bit salty for my taste. For my second trip I skipped the extras and just got 3 quesatacos, a side of guacamole, and horchata. I very much appreciated that the guac wasn't cut with tomatoes, and the horchata was lovely! Apparently, La Birria Loca has a following for the creative tres leches recipes. I got some on my first trip and learned that squishy cake isn't my thing, but the ingredients were fresh, and the portion size was generous. I'll try the cheesecake at my next visit, and *maybe* a different main, but I think those tacos will be calling me again soon!! read more

Finally!!! I struggle sometimes to be able to find food I like. I stopped in right after lunch. When I came in I was told they just ran out of Birria, but they can still make other stuff. I ordered the birria pizza with steak, elote, and churro cheesecake. The owner told me that everything is fresh and never frozen. They don't fry or microwave anything. While I waited he told me a little about the place. We talked local restaurants and shared places we both liked. The food came and I took it home. First off the pizza. Good lord. It's huge (that what she said) it is personal sized, but it has so much meat and cheese inside its killer filling. So delicious also. The steak was perfectly cooked, not crispy and dry like most tacos places. The sauces were awesome also. Second was the elote. I'd leave my wife for it. Enough said. I get full quickly, but I had to slowly eat it over 30 minutes. I could not put it down. Final item was the churro cheesecake. It was good. I'm not going to go into detail, because you have to try it. No review or picture could give it justice. Anyways, go to this place. Please. Small place for pick up orders ran by father in law & son in law. The son in law was super friendly and we loved their story! Congrats on making it 3 years in business! The Jamaica was a bit bitter for my liking & the Horchata tasted different than what we are used to..not sure if it was a good or bad different. Ordered the Baja tacos and they were ok...when I think of Baja tacos it usually consists of a slaw and Baja sauce but the tacos came with pico de gallo and cheese. The steak burrito was good however the salsas were entirely too spicy and we were unable to enjoy them with our food. read more
