Los Cantaritos is a great Mexican restaurant in Geneva. They have a large space for dine in and a nice bar inside as well. I ordered the steak taco dinner with cilantro and onion - big size portions and the steak is good quality meat. We also ordered a ground beef taco salad which was good too - a lot of flavor. They have 3 different in house made hot sauces/salsas as well all great - make sure to try the creamy green Jalepano sauce that was our favorite. We went to a car show and decided to take a chance on a new restaurant. What a great decision! Their drinks were delicious but the food... AMAZING! my kiddo has dairy and egg allergies and they made French fries in fresh oil in a pan. My picky and severe allergy child enjoyed carnitas taco and fries and was asking for more. My husband had a Huachinango and it was big, flavorful, and came with a lot of sides. I had the taco dinner w carne asada, barbacoa, and fish. All of them were great but the fish taco was my favorite! The service was wonderful! The waitress was kind and the fact that they made safe fries was wonderful. The restaurant was busy but not crowded and we were never waiting nor did we feel forgotten. We will definitely make another trip out here and have dinner again! read more

Quite surprised in Sat night it wasn't crowded. It was only my party and 2 other parties. The place was clean and service was quick. I got the text dinner, grilled chicken and barbacoa. I was not a fan of either. The chicken was grilled perfectly but no taste to it. The barbacoa was a bit fatty. My daughter had steak and it was good. I should've got that. Stopped by here on the way back from a weekend in Chicago after finding the strong recommendations for Los Cantaritos here on Yelp. It's a nondescript spot from the outside in a strip mall (with plenty of parking). The inside is bright and well decorated and the whole staff was very friendly. I have a theory about finding great inexpensive places for lunch by watching where the guys with the hard hats go, and I was glad to see plenty of reflective safety vests clad people among the customers. The salsa was good and the chips were freshly fried. We ordered the Flautas de Pollo, a Taco Salad, Sopes, and Carnitas Tacos. This was a great new spot! It is tucked away and feels like a hidden gem in this strip mall. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was great. A lot of places in the area don't have great chips/salsa or margaritas, but both were stellar! The ambiance is simple but clean too. Stopped by for the second time and it didn't disappoint! The restaurant was clean. Immediately greeted by staff to be seated. Started off with complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the stuffed tilapia with seafood and it was amazing! The flavors complimented well together. The portion was big and I had the rest for dinner the same day. Tried Los Cantaritos for the first time on a Sunday afternoon and it was delicious! Had the Carne Asada Steak Torta, definitely one of the better steak tortas I've enjoyed. The steak was tender and had a great flavor. The torta bread was fresh something that other restaurants struggle with. My spouse had the Chicken Enchiladas Suiza Style with rice & beans and it was tasty. Ambience is basic. Wide open space with a lot of seating. I have eaten food from here twice. The first time, they were just leftovers from a family member. They were cold, a few hours old, and DELICIOUS. Tonight, my family and I dined it for the first time (for me). I ordered two tostadas - one shrimp, and one asada. They were both terrific. The food here tastes so fresh and the steak was top quality. The shrimp was cleaned nicely, and the steak did not have any fat on it - but still had so much flavor. The rice and beans were also great. Someone in my party ordered the flautas, which have shredded chicken. I did not try them, but they looked incredible. I'm not a huge fan of chicken, but I would definitely order them. I honestly think I would try anything on the menu here. Before I dominate the review with how awesome the food is, I also want to note how clean this place was. I would have literally eaten off of the table if I had no plate. Also, we were greeted by the hostess, who was super friendly. Our waitress was terrific - very warm and very helpful. The Mexican places in Geneva have not been good for a long time. The only one I like is Bien Trucha, but I wouldn't call that authentic Mexican (at least in my family). It's much more gourmet, and almost fusion-y. This is the real deal. Los Cantaritos reminded me of dining at a Mexican friend or family member's house, but in the BEST way. My first visit to this place was tonight and I ordered a steak burrito and two tacos. My wife said her tacos were delicious and very filling. My steak burrito was very full and wrapped up firm the way they should be. My only negative is that there was very little steak. Ample beans and everything else but steak was minimal. I only got takeout here, so I can't comment on the service. Food was great, I ordered the Tilapia La Plancha. Chips were crisp, and the salsa was fresh. I liked that they put in extra sauces with the meals. At some places, you have to ask for them. I had a bit of trouble finding the address, my GPS directed me to a real estate office. If you're having trouble finding the restaurant, the suite # is 270, and it's next to a vape place. I think they need a brighter sign out in front, something colorful, that stands out. read more

Love the pottery mugs the margaritas come in. Spicy Cucumber marg was delicious. Guacamole was super good, made fresh by our server. Bistek was perfectly cooked and well seasoned, not crazy about the rice but it wasnt bad. the chips and salsa you get were fresh and tasty. Kids liked their tacos, plenty of meat in the tacos on the regular menu so they are worth the price. Service was great too. This would be a 5 star review if not for the interior. It was very clean, so that wasn't the issue. The ambience is a major letdown, i saw another review say it feels like a cafeteria and that's spot on. Way too bright lights, minimal decor, music not loud enough so all tables felt like they had to whisper to each other and the overall color scheme is very "builder grade flipped house". You feel like you are in a Chipotle vs an authentic mexican restaurant. I was hoping for something like the old Jose Marias in Geneva, that cozy feel with murals, etc.. If the vibe was better i would come here to post up at the bar and watch sports and drink some cocktails. I'll definitely be back as the food is great! read more

To much of a "cafeteria" feel, bright lights and little decor, just too plain for a good restaurant like this. Maybe they're waiting to see how it does before they re-do the interior....hopefully. I had the steak chimichanga with a side of rice and beans. A large, very flavorful chimichanga with fresh, done perfect steak. My wife got the poblano dinner, she said it was so very good. We were driving down Randel Road looking for something new and interesting to eat. The excellent Yelp reviews for Los Cantarito jumped out at me. It's hidden away a bit in a strip mall, it's a fairly large space with a nice bar in back. As we were looking at the menu the guy at the bar was juicing Grapefruits and Limes and I suddenly needed a Paloma. They have excellent Paloma's. The only issue is it was kinda small especially for the price, but it was likely the best one I have ever had. On to the food, the menu has all the normal Tex Mex/Mexican standards you would expect plus a few surprises, one being the Alambre Con Queso I got with El Pastor. It was a large portion (plenty to take home) of pork with peppers, onions and cheese. My wife who is now a convert also got El Pastor in Taco form. Both were excellent and they have very good El Pastor. The portions were large, the Refried beans were very garlicky, I was a bit taken back at first taste but they were good. The service was excellent, large portions,and good food, don't miss out, thei is a must try in the area read more

Great place. Very good food. Best Mexican I have had in the area. I had chili relleno and the dish was perfect. We also had enchiladas. Chips were good. They had 3 different sauces. 2 red and one green. One was very Hot while the other 2 had good flavor. The atmosphere was a new restaurant. We went in a Saturday night around 630pm and there was not too many people in the place. There were several to go orders being picked up. We were happy we did not have to wait for a table. It seems to be sort of a secret since it's knew. I highly recommend trying the place. read more

I tried the spicy cucumber margarita- BEST marg I've ever had! Tried chili relleno SO good. Amazing sample of guacamole. Partner had Bistek a la Mexicana and cleaned his plate! We often visit Mexico - these selections were very authentic and delicious. Service was excellent. Highly recommended. I do think they need to soften up the dining area. The food was not great. Average at best. I ordered a chimichanga and the poured processed nacho cheese sauce all over it. There was barely any meat inside of the chimichanga. Also I ordered the dinner and got no beans and rice. My son ordered the 3 taco dinner. He said it was average at best. Really small tacos, barely any beans and rice. All this for a carry out order and it was $35. Small portions, less than average food and at a cost of $35. First and last time. Sorry. Very disappointed for a newer restaurant.
