Geneva Ale House - Quality Has Really Dropped I've had this burger before and was impressed, but not this time. It said it came with bacon, yet there wasn't a trace of it anywhere. The bun was stale, the whole thing felt thrown together, and after already sending it back once, I wasn't about to wait again. The sweet potato fries were honestly the best part of the meal -- which says a lot. It's disappointing because Geneva Ale House used to be solid, but quality has definitely taken a dive. I'd skip this place and go to Barrel + Rye, Burger and Sushi, or Burger Social instead -- all much better options for a good burger in Geneva. read more

This place was wonderful, nice place to enjoy a game on tv or hang out with friends. The service was excellent and they were quick to get suggestions for those of us out of town. Nestled right in downtown Geneva, near many historic structures this place an excellent addition to the community. Good beer selection, even some traditional Monk inspired beers, food is good, all the burgers our group ordered a pretzel bun which was a nice touch. Will come back next time we are in town. For me, the amount of mustard was excessive and overpowered the sandwich. The cajun fries were not tossed properly. The kitchen placed a pile of standard fries on the plate and sprinkled dry seasoning on top of the fries so that only the top side of the top layer of fries had seasoning. My friend ordered the Ale House grilled cheese. The batter was light and onions very sweet! And served with a lovely sauce. We also enjoyed the chicken quesadilla, southwest chicken salad with jalapeño vinaigrette, Rueben Cobb salad with cucumber vinaigrette , and the steak sandwich with fries. Salads were so fresh and chicken is marinated for 36 hours! And the taste reflects the lengthy process! The quesadilla was loaded with fresh vegetables and chicken and so very good. My husband and I were pretty disappointed with this restaurant. We were not impressed with the menu, and the food we ordered was just okay. I had the bruschetta and French onion soup. I thought there was too much balsamic dressing in the topping mixture. It was drowning out the fresh mozzarella and tomato. I also thought that the French onion soup had too many onions and bread and not enough broth. My husband had the Cubano sandwich with fries. He thought it was good, but wouldn't order again. We LOVE to support local restaurants, but most likely won't be back here unless it's only to try their drinks. read more

I can't speak highly enough about this place. I have been twice in the last week or so. The first time we arrive right after two giant parties so we were told food is taking way longer than usual. We stayed and were still given attentive service. The wait time was a non issue. The second we went, we also had our toddler with us. She was in a mood. We were that family. The server took it all in stride and even made a kiddy flight of milk and lemonade because our daughter was DISTRAUGHT over my husband having a beer flight. I only hope we weren't too disruptive to those around us. We did take her outside for a bit and she came back for her "flight" and Mac n cheese. Their seasonal ghost pepper chili is so good! I went in to try it based off someone sharing a photo of it. This chili is flavorful and has a nice smoked slow build up heat to it. I ordered a cup because I was going for dinner so I still had my Brie grilled cheese sandwich. However I plan to come in again soon and just order a bowl of this chili for my meal. WHERE DO I BEGIN? OMG! OMG, where do I begin? We came here based on the Yelp reviews. My husband ordered the Po' Boy shrimp sandwich with fried thin crispy onion strings. He said it was very very very good. He wolfed it down in record time! I had the brisket sandwich with brie cheese. It was like chewing on a piece of leather. This was the toughest brisket sandwich I ever tasted. In fact, I took a bite and chewed, chewed and chewed and could not even break it down with my teeth. I spit it out into a napkin. I took a 2nd bite. It was the same thing. Our server was polite, kind and professional. He asked me if I wanted something else or did I want them to redo my sandwich. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and requested another brisket sandwich. There was no difference and the meat was still extremely tough. I could easily tell this brisket was not cooked in the oven for 12 hours. The brisket was still very difficult to break down. I gave it a shot in the hopes I would receive a tender melt-in-your mouth brisket. This was not the case, and it was a huge disappointment. My husband insisted on taking the other half of the sandwich home. I didn't want to take it, but he was persistent. He ate the sandwich when we arrived home. He said, "This meat is very, very tough." We live in the city. We have thousands of choices in terms fantastic restaurants. I have had many briskets in my lifetime, but I've never had a brisket as bland and tough as this one. It was pretty bad. My husband had the day off from work. He read the Yelp reviews. He said "let's take a drive to Geneva and try out this restaurant." We did. Never again.
