Just can't say enough about the team at Alamo Ace Hardware. Craig, Keith, Bruce, Brennan, Michael, Al, Marty or Sharon....all so talented. Whether you are looking for simple home improvement items or you aren't quite sure what you need, they likely have it. The BBQ area, the kitchen and the inventory - just amazing. You could go anywhere for these things and some choose to go to the big box stores because the perception is that you will save money. While you may get some things for a little less, the value Ace and their staff provides is second to none. You just dont wait. Walk in and they help you - even if you aren't sure what you are doing. I could be in and out of Ace Alamo before someone even talks to me at Home Depot or Lowes. If you are on the fence, go there - will be well worth your while. read more

Celebrating Alamo Ace Hardware: from a long time customer. The magic of Alamo Ace Hardware starts with its remarkable longtime general manager, Keith Gilbert--part ringmaster, part retail genius--who's been running the show since the days of Yardbird. Thanks to Keith, this isn't just a hardware store...it's an experience. Walk through the doors during any holiday season and you're immediately greeted with festive, colorful, over-the-top displays that put a smile on your face. Then the real adventure begins--where else can you find Grandma-worthy homemade pies, Pokémon cards, a seriously swoon-worthy kitchen section, and every nut, bolt, and tool imaginable all under one roof? Alamo Ace has that rare, old-school, family-run feel--where people actually know what they're talking about and are genuinely happy to help you. It's the kind of place where you come in for a lightbulb and leave wondering how you lived without one of their Apple pies. Huge shout-out to the all-star team: Sharon in Electrical, Michael, Marty, Brennon, and Bill in Paint; Norm and Sue in Customer Service; Dennis, Al, and Bruce in Fasteners; Dianne and Kelly in Kitchen; Valerie in Garden; and Annie, Laurie, Joan, and Sharon at Checkout. And to anyone I missed--thank you. You all make this place what it is, a real neighborhood treasure! We are beyond lucky to have this gem in our neighborhood. read more

The store is really nice, but I grab a product off the shelf bring it to checkout and today I got some bath ducting and it was $10.99 and when I went up, there was $13.99. This has happened twice at this location and it's really annoying why they don't fix their prices and organize stuff better but other than that it's nice. Also get some bike locks outside. There's nothing. read more

This is not my first 5 Star review. The "Hero" this time was Craig, one of the "Regulars" on the staff of miracle workers. My wife has a Bona floor polisher/cleaner, the handle of which got disconnected from the 'Applicator" (How, I have no clue...). It soon became apparent that I needed a small screw which was missing. Our search was unsuccessful. I went to the local Ace and fortunately encountered Craig, who has helped me solve problems in the past. After a few minutes he discovered that the missing screw was METRIC rather than standard!! He found and installed the proper screw and tightened the others on the applicator. Once again, Ace saved the day, and it was Craig to the rescue!! They are great folks doing a great job at a great store!! read more

This place is so convenient, with tons of staff around to help guide you to the right area, provide advice on products and answer questions. For a pretty small sized hardware store, they almost always have what I need. I feel like when I go in here I can get honest advice I'd get from my dad. It's a pretty cool feeling. They have a huge section dedicated to gift store stuff and kitchen gadgets, as well as an outdoor garden center. Hidden in the back is another outdoor area with a ton of irrigation supplies, pipes, etc. Prices are pretty competitive with the big box stores like Home Depot. Maybe a tiny bit more, but for the convenience of a closer location it's worth it. Parking can be a little hectic when it's busy, but it's all right out front. read more

I love this place. The staff is so nice and helpful. They have everything you need and are always willing to help

Today I went to Ace Hardware in Alamo looking for help. It's people like Bruce Stamm that keep me coming back to this particular store. I learned a lot from him as he was problem-solving my issue. He was patient, diligent and with a good sense of humor. I write this review to show my gratitude to him for the time that he took with me and to let you, who are reading my comment right now, know that you will get top-notch service. read more

So I am a local electrician/ handyman and I spend a lot of time buying materials in hardware stores so I'm one contractor that has his eyes open for what's best for not only myself but my customers as well. This afternoon after completing some minor electrical work for a customer, the woman asked me if I could replace the 40 year old hose Bibb in the back of her house. Long story short this turned into a Hugh mess and I found myself at Alamo Hardware with an employee named Al and the manager himself working on this frozen part and the ace crew were 100% trying everything they sold in an attempt to resolve problem regardless of the fact I only needed a $2.00 washer. This place is over the top i give it 6 stars it takes atleast one more to illustrate how much this place shines read more

This place is outstanding, and it's not just because of the products (which are great). What really sets it apart is the staff. Every time I visit, the employees are friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. I honestly can't remember ever walking through the store without someone asking if I needed assistance finding something. I wanted to specifically recognize an employee named David, whom I've interacted with during my last two visits. If you need advice on sauces or rubs, he's the guy to talk to. His knowledge and customer service are second to none. On my most recent visit, I came in looking for a specific item that I really needed. Another employee let me know they were sold out and wasn't sure when more inventory would arrive. David overheard the conversation, walked over, and asked, "How many do you need?" When I told him I only needed one, he replied, "I have one I can give you." To my surprise, he actually went out to his car and gave me the item I needed. I was genuinely blown away by his kindness and willingness to help. I'm writing this review to say thank you to David for going above and beyond. Exceptional customer service like that is rare, and it's one of the reasons I'll keep coming back. read more

I come to this Ace store often, as I do fixes on a relative's home. The staff is so very helpful. Yes, certain things you need to do some research on in advance, but I give 6 stars. Today, Bruce gave me expert advice on lock-sets, and importantly, referred me to a locksmith in Walnut Creek, who resolved the problem immediately. This store is very well managed, and all the employees bend over backward to help you. read more

Alamo Ace is my local hardware store and I go there all the time. Their customer service is consistently fantastic -- it actually feels like the people there enjoy helping customers. Went in for some parts to fix my outdoor water fountain and I had no idea where anything was. Upon walking in I was instantly greeted and helped by Matt and Bruce. They knew exactly what I needed and didn't mind showing me exactly where to find each item. My trip was short and sweet and I was checked out without any issues at all. I super appreciate the help Matt and Bruce gave me and will definitely be back to the Alamo location if I ever need anything hardware or garden related. Thanks again gentlemen! read more

Bad experience at ACE Alamo today !! I am 66 years old have shopped at this location for over 40 years and have never received such a bad attitude from any employee ! Over the years I have purchased dozens of bags of soil concrete etc. Today I went in and bought 6 (not 60) bags of fencepost mix. I backed my truck within 6 feet of the pallet of concrete. After a few minutes a guy came out to load them. I opened the tailgate and asked if he would evenly stack the bags for proper weight distribution because I needed to load a bunch of other materials and drive 150+ miles. Instant attitude ! He threw the first two in and I knew this wasn't going to go well. Then the third had an obvious hole the size of a quarter in it that leaked concrete all over the back of my Rivian as he threw it in. When I told him that I didnt want the one with the hole, he reluctantly removed it leaking a lot more concrete. He threw the last three in wherever and walked away ! BTW this guy was not new or a young kid in training, he was a seasoned employee with a bad attitude !! read more

Love this location! Their selection in the gift area is the best. They have the best holiday decor around Christmas. They carry a lot of items that are from local small businesses. If there is one thing i cannot tolerate, it is the mass marketing of toxic crap like forever chemicals. Where am I going with this? Ace Hardware used to sell a kind of a plastic tarp that I have bought many times from them. They last a couple of years and then fall apart in the sun. And when they do, they sort of unspool into flourescent blue, yellow etc. strings. Then I would buy a replacement. I decided to go after the old fashioned type made of canvas. Because I am a retired biochemist, I asked AI about the presence of forever chemicals in canvas tarps and learned that unless it specifically says otherwise, all canvas tarps that are colored are loaded with fluorocarbon forever chemicals. And the worst part about this is these chemicals leach off rather easily from the tarps over time and contaminate your precious property. When I passed by the last aisle I noticed that Ace moved the tarps to that last aisle and , not only were all of them canvas and colored, but also enclosed in clear plastic bags. Hopefully the next aisle they get moved to is back in an Amazon warehouse. Buyer beware! Sincerely, Timouthy read more

If you're in Danville and need anything for your home, go straight to Ace Hardware in Danville. This store is the definition of what customer service should be. Keith went above and beyond in every sense of the word. He didn't just point us in the right direction -- he took the time to understand exactly what we needed, walked us through options, and made sure we left confident in our purchase. That level of care is rare. Brennan was equally impressive -- incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping us solve the problem the right way. You can tell the team here knows their products inside and out. What we love most is that no one ever leaves a customer hanging. Every employee is proactive, engaged, and eager to help -- the complete opposite of the big box stores where staff seem to disappear the moment you have a question. This is how retail should be done. Friendly, knowledgeable, and service-driven. We absolutely love this store and will keep coming back. THANK YOU KEITH!!! read more

This ACE Hardware store in Alamo is the best. As soon as you walk in someone is there asking if you need help finding something. I went into the store to see how I could reinforce my weber grill knobs since two of mine had broken. The store manager, Keith, happen to walk by and asked me what I was looking for, and I told him I needed a way to reinforce my grill knobs. He said don't worry they are under warranty. He had new replacement knobs in the back room, no charge, and I was back to grilling with my Summit grill I purchased from this store several years ago, along with my Traeger BBQ a year later. I have been shopping this store ever since it replaced Yardbirds for my hardware store and BBQ/Grilling needs, it's convenient as heck for me being two miles from my home. The employees have always been very helpful, friendly and resourceful (like Keith) making it a place I like to give my business to. read more

ACE in Alamo CA has an extremely helpful and knowledgeable salesman named BRUCE (Isle #12), who assisted me with measuring, selecting, and cutting PVC pipe to create the perfect perch for the vultures at the CA Raptor Center. All I had to do was measure the height, width/depth, length of the original perch I hoped to copy, drop off the measurements on my lunchbreak, and Bruce did the rest! I picked up the cut pieces, plus corresponding elbows and T-joints the same day! Because the intended use was to help education and ambassador animals, Bruce also provided a discount! Bruce could not have been more friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and enjoyable to work with! The vultures--Merry and Pippin--wanted Bruce to know how much they ADORE their matching perches! Now each has their own "station" for training and sun bathing! THANK YOU BRUCE! Sincerely, Nancy, Merry, and Pippin--CA Raptor Center, Davis CA. read more

This place is awesome! I came here with an old rusty Coleman lantern from the 50's with one screw that was rusted in so badly I couldn't get it out. Gavin and Flynn worked at it for an hour trying a variety of tools and methods to get it out before resorting to an extractor. Along the way they gave me a lot of tips to try for next time. This is the most helpful hardware store I have ever been to and I really appreciate how helpful everyone here is. And The Kitchen --- I have never seen a hardware store with if you're such a selection of kitchenware and cooking equipment. Seriously, if you are into bakeware you can get yourself into a LOT of trouble here ;=) Great place, worth a visit. read more
