Why this place is so out of the way and receives so few reviews, I'll never know. Aladdin Food Express is a bit out of the way for most Fort Wayners (or... well, anybody, tbh), yet it's easily the best Indian AND Burmese restaurant in town. This is not hyperbole: The cantina serves two different menus, one Indian and one Burmese, each handled by a chef from their respective country. It's basically two restaurants in one. (One time, the Indian chef went on vacation while the Burmese chef was still working, so we couldn't have our fix of Butter Chicken.) The Indian chef also looks like he could be our prof. Eh, question his life decisions all you want. We have many profs, but only one Aladdin. So how does Aladdin taste? Amazing, actually. Even the fried chicken is good, and I heard a couple folks order the pizza. Y'know, just in case you brought that new friend from work along and they couldn't stand this ethnic food. This fried chicken is Indian-spiced so it's not as famous as Lee's, but you know what they say. All the bestest things can be found on the down low. So after having ventured this far across town to enjoy some American fare, you may now wonder what the Indian stuff tastes like. Y'know for dessert. Let me tell you this: The butter chicken is DIVINE, and the lamb shank dinners are about the cheapest price you'll pay for finished lamb shank anywhere, while still maintaining quality and an American portion of sides. Personally, I found the lamb shank a tad chewy and didn't have much meaty flavor, so I didn't enjoy it as much as the one at Halal Eats', but darn it is a good value. The biryanis and tandoori stuff are great as well. Only thing that would make it better is if they used a higher meat-to-rice ratio on the biryanis, but for the price they are charging in this economy, I really can't complain too much. So yeah, Indian chef's solid. You know what's not just Aladdin's, but Fort Wayne's best-kept secret though? Burmese cuisine. Fort Wayne is one of the VERY FEW places in the entirety of America where you can find Burmese food, and most of them advertise as Thai. That being said, the thokes (Burmese salads) provided at Aladdin are superb. The laphet thoke (tea leaves salad) can be used as an appetizer, dessert, side, or, since it's an American portion for $7, as a way to have your day's worth of food on a college budget. The ame ou thoke (honeycomb tripe) is normally hot as hell, but I think they toned the spicy down a notch recently. Since the biryani lacks meat and the ame-ou packs heat, I find combining the two to be a worthwhile experience. Asian Fusion, baby! Mohinga is always great and always out of stock, so I just have my friend's mom make it for me. Thanks (friend's) mom! TL;DR If there were more Aladdin Food Expresses, we could've achieved world peace.

    shrimp Pad Thai

visiting from out of state and came here based on the reviews.. this restaurant deserves ALL the business they receive! mashAllah the food was out of this world. shrimp pad thai was very flavorful, perfectly cooked and the spice was amazing. the lamb shank biryani was out of this world i can't believe how good it was. the meat was so tender it literally falls off the bone. never experienced that from a restaurant before. the strawberry lemonade was made from scratch, so fresh and naturally sweet. don't think twice about coming here & trust me it's worth the drive! prices were amazing too

Restaurant Review I came to this place on a whim given a post of social media during the pandemic. We were craving something with more flavoring than salt and pepper. There are not many Indiana or middle eastern restaurants in Fort Wayne so it was nice being introduced to a new one. It is located in the south part of town. The actual restaurant is quite large, but I am not sure if it was open for dine-in seating. We had called ahead with our order and it was being prepared fresh. There is a carryout window right as you enter in so it was easy to keep a distance from other people, however it seemed slow as there was only one other customer there. We had tried to order shrimp biryani, but they were out, so we settled on chicken biryani and chicken tikka masala. The food itself was fresh and hot, however, I feel that the spices were a little off from your traditional Indian restaurant. It could be due to the asian/burmese influence on the food as I noticed they had a few Asian dishes as well which you don't typically see. The biryani was a healthy portion enough for 2 meals. There was large piece of dark meat chicken. The one thing that seemed to be missing was the saffron taste and spiciness you would often get with a biryani. It also only came with the white sauce and not the yellow sauce. The chicken tikka masala was very creamy, but once again something was different than the typical spice you get at an Indian restaurant. We did get some extra plain naan (interestingly, the price for specialty naan is exactly the same so I should have tried something else), but it was rather dry and didn't have the fluffiness you typically get with naan. Overall it was an OK meal, but for people that don't like super spicy or strong aromatics, this would be perfect for you.

Burmese Rice Noodle Soup and Chicken Curry with Garlic Naan

Tonight, I ordered the Burmese Rice Noodle Soup and Chicken Curry with Garlic Naan through DoorDash. This was my first experience with this restaurant. Everything was hot and packaged neatly. I really enjoyed everything! The curry from here was thick and flavorful with high quality chicken, which tasted much better than it does from the other two main Indian places in town. I ordered it at a medium hot to be safe, but next time I may consider extra spicy. This was my first time trying Burmese and the noodle soup was excellent! It was also full of flavor and the spice came on the side so you can add as much as you'd like... start off small and work your way up as opposed to dumping it all in at once. The garlic naan was the only part that was a little underwhelming, as it was a little dry. It was still very good with the curry. Everything was very affordable, as well. I am looking forward to trying them again in the future!

The onion rings are badgered in house and they were good. I ordered the bourbon horseradish smash burger and the burger was pretty crispy and cold when it arrived. The onion rings were cold as well. My wife loves the chicken tenders. They might be the best chicken tenders you every taste. The chicken is moist and juicy. The breading is a bit thicker, sweet and somewhat crunchy. Their homemade honey mustard dipping sauce is delicious. You can not go wrong with the chicken tenders! The Cole slaw is outstanding as well. It is mayo based and very creamy. The cabbage is fresh and has a nice crisp. The sauce has a little bit of spice and what seems like a hint of horseradish flavoring. Very good! The onion rings on this occasion were tough and overly crunchy. It almost hurt my teeth to bit into them. I've had them before with an outstanding taste. Regardless...these are handsome looking onion rings! I am not a burger fan. However, the Bourbon burger was simply delicious! The meat was tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare texture. The burger just melted in your mouth as you savored the burger juices. The bourbon sauce was very good without dominating the burger meat flavor. The sauce was very mild in spice and did have a slight bourbon flavoring.

What I really admitted about this place is the owner walking around communicating with everyone and checking to see if everything was going ok!! She was really sweet. The smell of food hit me before I even got inside. The seats were comfortable and they even had bar searing as well as an event space room. The food really deserves its own review but I can't leave two . Everything I would get again no questions asked! My only suggestion would be maybe add a tad of seasoning to the wings but the smoke flavor and sauce was too tier! Easy 10/10 for me!

"Meh" - Not as good as advertised…read more.. We've heard a lot of chatter about BurgerFi. Friends told us that it's actually better than both Five Guys and In-n-Out (that's a bold statement) - Far from from it. While BurgerFi was alright, I wouldn't put it anywhere in the same stratosphere as either of those, and even Culver's and Round Robin are all-around better. The restaurant itself is cool... Nice set-up, very clean, and excellent customer service. When stopped in, the guy at the counter (presumably the manager was friendly and accommodating). Our food came out quick and it looked great, but the first thought was "That's not a lot of food for $40" (2 small burgers, baby fries, and drinks). The food was good but the burgers weren't the big juicy burgers you get at a Five Guys, etc. and the fries were kids size at best... It certainly wasn't worth $40. Similar to other reviews, restaurants need to stop with customer price gouging... There are too many out there taking advantage of customers and it needs to stop - I really hope corporate takes a look at what they're charging customers based on the amount of food they serve, or businesses like this won't stay in business. All-in-all BurgerFi was just average IMO and we'd be hard pressed to go back... To end on a positive note however, they serve $2 beers on Fridays, which was cool (albeit we didn't drink when we stopped in).

It really is a must try if you are looking g for a dinning experience. The facility is small and parking out back can be a challenge. Making reservations is easy on their website. I would encourage this as it is nice to have and be able to relax. The team here is great. Addie greeted us and quickly got us to our table. She was friendly, all smiles and quick to make sure our water glasses were refilled. Chelsea was our waitress. She made us feel right at home and welcomed. She made sure to follow up regularly with us and was very friendly. Corey, one of the owners and chefs, came out to meet us. You could tell that he was genuinely glad we were there and wanted to make sure we were satisfied with the cook. The atmosphere is very quaint. The dining area is small but overly packed or loud. The white table coverings and dim lights were nice. There was soft jazz music overhead and an interesting collection of local art work on the wall. I was surprised that Chance didn't have much drink service outside of beer and wine. There is a bar predominantly places in the restaurant but no liquor items to serve. The wine list was moderately large and had a couple items that would appeal to dry red wine drinkers. One of the things I like about Chance is the selection of small plate shareables. You can make a meal out of a couple or accent an entree as an appetizer. We like to get several of these to sample. We started with the beer bread. The comes with two large slices of bread. The bread is served room temperature. This leads you to conclude, at first bite, that the bread is a bit dry and stale. The bread is thick and dense. It does has a drier taste but it isn't dry. There is a good beer flavoring present. The honey butter was fun. The butter chunk was thicker and hard. The honey was drizzled over the top with possibly a little cinnamon accent. You had to work a little to get the ratio and spread you want. The beer battered mushrooms are still good. The medium sized mushroom is covered in a thick and crispy batter. There is a slight beer taste in each large mushroom. The mild horseradish dipping sauce was a nice compliment. We also ordered the rib tips. This is a small dish that is packed with lots of flavor. The crispy garlic chips were unique and tasty. The garlic is overpowering and crisp tastes slightly burnt. The honey BBQ sauce is delicious - mop it off the plate delicious! The sauce is thick and sweet. It has a slightly strong BBQ spice flavor. The jalapeño rings are well cooked and soaked up the BBQ glaze nicely. While tasty the jalapeño rings were slightly spicy to taste. We did order the ricotta gnocchi again. It was delicious the first time we ordered it. It was outstanding again. The gnocchi is freshly made and soft but slightly firm to cut. The ricotta gives the dish a slight cheese flavor. The tomato based sauce is smooth and moderately thick. The sightly sweet Italian seasoned sauce was a perfect covering for the gnocchi!
