My settings literally say my display is unknown and my battery needs servicing because these guys are thieves. three other customers came in the store with the same issue after wizkid "fixed" their devices. Now my phone just powers down whenever it wants unless it's plugged in. constantly overheats even when not in use. The BBB and attorney generals office will love this information. Thanks, guys!

TL;DR: Do not use this shop. They ruined my girlfriend's $350 phone, and only refunded *part* of…read morethe cost after 2 weeks of sustained complaining. Highly unprofessional. I strongly encourage you to go someplace else. My girlfriend brought her phone to this shop because the charging port needed to be replaced. During the repair, the older man said that he was having trouble reattaching the antenna and called his younger co-worker to do the repair. Immediately after the phone was returned, it had dramatically worse reception for text messages, wireless data, and phone calls. When we looked up these issues, it was clearly an issue with the antenna --the same component the older man was having trouble reattaching. The antenna is located directly against the charging port, and has to be detached when replacing the charging port. The obvious conclusion was that they either failed to properly re-attach the antenna or damaged it. When we brought the phone back for them to try reattaching the antenna, they couldn't do it. They said they would order a new antenna and call us when it was ready. They never contacted us about it; after 2 weeks of contacting them they told us to bring the phone back. (I am not sure if they even installed a new antenna; I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they did.) Once again, they weren't able to fix the phone. At this point, we realized there was nothing they could do, and asked for a refund. What resulted was a very frustrating text message conversation in which they initially refused to refund us, then offered to refund only the $45 cost of the initial repair (i.e. ignoring the fact they irreparably damaged a $350 phone), then suggested that we try to sell/return it without informing the recipient that the phone had an antenna issue (!!! see attached image). I informed them that they were not honoring their terms and we would file a consumer protection complaint if they didn't give us a refund. They offered us $100, claiming that the parts/labor had been expensive, and we took it. This whole process took 6 weeks. My girlfriend needed to buy a new phone because she absolutely needed wireless service for her job. But I brought the phone to another shop, and they took a look at he phone for free. Their diagnostics said there was something wrong with the antenna, but didn't know exactly what. They said that if they saw the phone in this state, they would have recommended that we replace the phone because any repair would end up being more costly.

Computer Sense has built my last 2 computers. I own a small community paper here in this community,…read more and I do all of the graphics myself. My needs are unique, I need a fast, graphically intense computer that can also handle Microsoft spreadsheets, billing, massive downloads. My needs are hybrid- and Andrew realizes that a "one size fit's all" is not going to do what I need. Even more impressive- beyond his technological skills, Andrew is a really nice person. I have been in his store and watched as customers, neighbors, senior citizens, have come in with "locked up" laptops. They clicked on "something" and now have the blinking virus screen. He just smiles, opens up their computer and has miraculously fixed a few right in front of me. He knows their names. He makes them comfortable. They didn't need to call for an appointment 3 days from now. That's why he has been in business for so many years. If you need a computer, or need a repair, do yourself a favor and go to Computer Sense. You won't be sorry.

They have repaired several computers for me over the years and I value their expertise. This firm also carries a varied inventory of computer equipment, such as new and used laptops and printers. They also accept outdated electronics for either parts or proper recycling. Most recently, I took a new Lenovo Yoga in to have them insert the data from an older laptop and to tweak the settings on the new machine to my personal preferences. This included additional software programs for protection from malware and possible hacking. All the work was accomplished within a day. Overall, the work done is very professional and the service courteous.

I live downstate, but spend a lot of time in the Albany area visiting family and friends, so I figured I would stop in and check it out. Going into the shop, it was a refreshing change from the big box stores I'm used to dealing with. It's a family owned shop, run by a father and son team. Right away I felt very comfortable that they weren't looking to make a fast buck, but to honestly help fix my problem and gain a loyal customer. They were both very friendly and more importantly didn't talk over my head with a lot of technical mumbo jumbo like a lot of computer tech guys do. After diagnosing the problems and laying out a few options for me, It wound up my laptop was basically toast, which I had suspected. It was about 5 years old, so I wasn't surprised. John gave me an amazing deal on a new Gateway that was twice as powerful as my old one. Not only was the price great, he gave me a really good guarantee on the laptop. If anything goes wrong, I just bring it in and he'll fix it. If you want to support a local, honest family owned business, this is the one. I highly recommend these guys.

There are at least four locations in the area for Computer Answers - Albany, Schenectady, Clifton…read morePark, and Bennington, VT. - according to the business card I picked up in the Clifton Park location. If you search online you may also see locations in East Greenbush and Brooklyn. I'm going to describe my experience only at the Clifton Park location. Attention: The phone number listed on Yelp is correct: (518) 383-0313. The number listed on their webpage and all paper generated documents at the Clifton Park store (e.g., claim checks & receipts) is incorrect. They list their business hours as 9 am to 9 pm seven days a week. This does not necessarily mean that they have a technician on duty during those hours. The Clifton Park location shares space with a Smoke Shop which is open during those hours. When I visited the store one afternoon to inquire about bringing my desktop PC in for repair, the employee I spoke with told me I could return that day with it by 6 pm. I did return by 4:30 pm and that employee was not there but a second employee whom I had observed during my earlier visit was able to receive my 3-year-old PC, add me to their customer base, and provide me a claim check. I also picked up one of their business cards from the counter and noticed the next day that it said on the reverse side that new customers could receive a 10% discount. CA makes a point of promoting free diagnosis within 24 to 48 hours. This was emphasized by the first employee I encountered. It being a Tuesday when I brought the PC there, I called them on Thursday afternoon to check on the status. The employee who answered the phone said they had not had a chance to look at my PC since they were very busy. When I asked when I might expect to hear the result of their diagnosis, I was asked if I had paid an "expedited fee." This was the first I was hearing about an additional fee, and it was explained that the fee would allow my PC to leapfrog over other customers who were in the queue. I wondered if that leapfrogging would apply to diagnosis, repairs, or both. I didn't ask, and I didn't inquire how much such a fee would be. I decided to give them until Monday, assuming they did not work on repairing computers over the weekend. Monday afternoon I went to the shop in person to inquire about the status of my PC. On this visit I met Dwayne. He pulled my order up on their database and explained to me what their diagnosis had revealed. He said that my rotary drive with all the software had a problem and needed to be replaced. I said I thought the problem was not with the rotary drive but with the solid state drive that stored all my data since a check disk analysis I had done was successful on the rotary drive but failed on the solid state drive. He assured me that their analysis was accurate, and they could start the transfer of the drive's content to a new drive momentarily. When would it be completed? He seriously doubted it would be finished by 6 pm when he would be leaving. When he came back to work at noon on Tuesday, he would call me. Not having received a phone call by 1 pm on Tuesday, I called them. Dwayne explained that they now had found that the solid state drive also had some sectors that had failed and that drive also needed to be replaced. The transfer process needed to run overnight. He would tell the other staff person to check it out in the morning on Wednesday, and if everything looked good, to reassemble my PC. He would call me when the work was complete. Not having heard from anyone by 1 pm on Wednesday, I called them. Dwayne said my PC was ready for pickup. By 2 pm Wednesday my PC was fully connected at home and the first thing I realized was that all of my data had not been restored to the solid state drive! Instead of cursing, crying, and pulling my hair out, I crossed my fingers and hoped that my practice of backing up the data on that drive nightly to the cloud would successfully now restore the missing files. YES!!! Let this be a lesson to those of you who may be reading this and considering that you can always rely upon someone else to pull you're as* out of the fire when you have a problem. I'm sure if I were familiar with repairing computers I would have saved a lot more money than the 10% on their bill. But you expect to pay them for their experience, available equipment, and the three year warranty that they provided. Either way, $441 before sales tax is either acceptable or unreasonable depending on your perspective. But what was that $18.87 service charge? Addendum: It's now Friday, and the PC has been working just fine since I picked it up on Wednesday and restored the missing data. The phone rings, and who is on the other end? Dwayne! Is he calling to ask me if I'm satisfied with the quality of their work? No. He's letting me know that they just realized that there were additional files that were available to have been restored to my solid state drive.
