I love getting their sushi platters here. Always fresh and their prices have been good and consistent. It's truly my go to take out sushi spot because of the price but also the sashimi is always sooo thick. They close at 9:30 and I've placed my order pretty late but they were very accommodating and fast. I think they are most worth it for their platters. I always do take out though as the store isn't super big as the seating area is on the smaller side with only a couple of tables.
My fave go to place for sushi. It's located in a small plaza at the corner of 9th line and 16th. The restaurant itself is small with not much seating available. The vibe is more for take out. They are usually really busy, especially on weekends and holidays. I would strongly suggest calling and ordering ahead of time. My family and I usually order the assorted roll platter vegetarian as we don't eat raw. The quality is great and the prices for their platters are not bad at all. I absolutely love this place and highly recommend it.
Love this sushi take out restaurant. Their different locations I find serves at different qualities but all great. This location specifically I always order from although I do find that this platter one of the rolls went from decent level to spicy salmon, to avocado cucumber roll now to avocado roll .... Overall one of the better sushi take away places in the area.
This is my all time favourite sushi spot. I come all the time with my girlfriend all the time and get the bento boxes and platters. We will be coming back all the time as long as I live in the area.
50pc sashimi platter. Called up to order this time. Good freshness. Easy for pickup with on-time readiness. Recommended!
Ordered through Uber eats, with a 50% off coupon over the weekend! It was great value and quality was fresh. I got the 60 pieces party tray for around $36 with the discount. It included salmon sashimi, but my favourite was the salmon and avocado roll! Delivery was quick and efficient, with the order coming in less than 30 minutes. Highly recommended to satisfy sushi cravings for a large crowd!
My family enjoys getting our Sunday lunch from AiSushi because it is delicious, affordable, and convenient! The prices for sushi are much cheaper than other nearby Japanese restaurants. We love the specialty rolls, especially the Alaska roll and Honey Mustard roll. The fish is fresh and they give a good amount of fish even with the good price. They have a well-organized online ordering system, and if they can't complete your order by the time that you requested, they will send you a text about it. This has only happened to me once, and the rest of the time the order is packed by the time I have arrived. They also have a 10% off discount if you pay in cash, which makes the deal even better. Highly recommend for cheap but quality sushi!
Ai Sushi has the best value sushi platters! I ordered a platter and it had such a great variety of fish at a great price point ($48 for 60pc Sashimi-Sushi-Roll Platter!) I often find the the quality of rolls with platters tend to be lacking, but Ai Sushi delivered with a decent variety including California rolls, Dragon rolls, Spicy salmon rolls...etc & a variety of ~10 different fish!
During the pandemic Ai sushi has still been able to deliver quality food. I usually just call ahead of time to place an order and it's always ready by the time I get there. They are currently doing a 10% promo if you pay in cash. Perfect for takeout to eat at home! And prices are still super reasonable compared to other sushi restaurants in the area and the quality I feel is on par with the others! Def one of the neighbourhood gems and they now have 2 other locations in Richmond Hill and Scarborough. Glad to be able to still support local businesses!
Like a good Markhamite, I practically grew up on sushi. You've got your cheap and easy food court staples like Yanagi in First Markham Place, and your ultra high-end Jiro Dreams of Sushi places like Zen. Being raised here, I've seen the boom of sushi restaurants grow from few and far apart to one in every corner of the city. So it's hard to find something that really surprises me these days. Then suddenly, Ai Sushi enters the conversation. Restaurant style quality at....food court prices? How? Why? Huh?? Ai Sushi is a small store focused almost entirely on takeout. They have a few tables within the restaurant but I honestly think those are more for people that are waiting to pick up their food. And this model has seemingly created one hell of a successful business model: no frills, high quality sushi at extremely reasonable prices. So successful in fact, that even amid COVID, the store is constantly rotating customers in and out it seems. So I keep talking about these prices. Let's give some examples. 40-piece assorted sushi/sashimi/roll platter for $32. That's right, less than $1 a piece, while the average place usually charges around 1-for-1 or more depending on how much rice is involved. Order more and you get an even better deal (100 pcs. for $62). I got their Hokkaidon with 3 giant sweet shrimp, uni, and ikura for $15.99. That's unbelievably cheap! Similar dishes are looking at charging closer to $25, though I will say Ai's uni was not the best. Is their sushi the greatest around? No, of course not. But the value is unbeatable. Their fish is fresh and their rice to fish ratio is desirable. Adding the fact that their service is quick and effective, you've got a sushi place that has somehow managed to stand out against the hundreds in Markham. Ai Sushi found its way into the middle of the holy three-way venn diagram for restaurants (quality, price, service), and for that, I can only give it my highest praises and pick up the phone to order more.
Ai Sushi is a small restaurant in Markham that's usually bustling with take out orders. When we arrived, our order of 100 pc assorted sushi/sashimi/rolls platter was prepared, packed on time and we checked out smoothly. The trays were packed securely with plenty of utensils and soy sauce & wasabi in separate containers on the side rather than in the tray. All of the rolls and sushi used good quality fish and had a satisfactory rice to filling ratio. Included were rainbow rolls, a salmon avocado roll, a salmon roll topped with spicy mayo, a california topped with tobiko, another roll with spicy mayo and dragon roll topped with spicy mayo and tempura bits. The sashimi were thickly cut (with the only complaint that there were a couple pieces of bones and scale found in the salmon). They also had Ika cuttlefish sashimi, red tuna, hokkigai (surf clam), hotategai (scallops) and tako (octopus). I also got to try the spicy seaweed salad! I believe it tastes exactly the same as the one from Poke Guys which I love. I would get it again with all my orders. For the price and decent variety, it was a great deal. Ai Sushi would definitely be a great choice for groups of people wanting to enjoy good sushi at an unbeatable value. The more you order, the better the deal gets. Service is quick and efficient as long as you preorder. Ai Sushi is a neighborhood gem that will get your sushi cravings quickly satisfied. Take out available (10% off with Cash)! They also have a location in Richmond Hill and Scarborough.
Ai Sushi is my usual go to place for large platters! Sashimi is so on point. I usually get the larger platter with the assorted sashimi. Usually pre pandemic each piece came out to be about $1 per piece which is a total steal! I came here recently to try their spicy scallop rolls. Not too bad but the rice was not like their usual sushi rice. Kind of reminded me of the sushi you get at loblaws or longos. I have ordered dragon rolls here in the past, and the sushi rice was a lot better. Maybe it is a hit or miss with the rolls. But for sure come here for sashimi. Especially if you are going to a party or pot luck, they have amazing deals on platter options.
We used to order sushi platters here for take out, but as soon as indoor All-You-Can-Eat is back available we decided to actually try dining in. We were not disappointed. The only regret we have is not having tried the dine-in option sooner. We previously were still sticking to our other tried and tested Japanese AYCEs. The price rate per person here appears to be just a little less than other similar food places. Their food portion sizes are big, and similar to the ones they have available in their take-out sushi platters. What I appreciate in AiSushi is that they have some curry available on the menu. Japanese, red, green and other types of curry. Overall, this is one of the better sushi places around to get your sushi fix and if you want to eat to your heart's content.
I ordered takeout for lunch on a weekday here, so my experience may be a bit different from those who ordered during dinner hours. I called when they opened at 11am to place an order for a Kaisendon and told them I'd be by at 12 to pick it up. The food was ready when I got there. When I got home, I was happy with how good the food looked. The fish seemed like to be quality as well. Also, for $10.99, I'd say that the Kaisendon was a great deal. 12 pieces of sashimi on a bed of rice, but they included shrimp sashimi as well! Very nice. I'm excited to try their rolls next time. read more
When you first get to this joint, it's not in the snazziest plaza so you don't expect a whole lot. But this place exceeds first impression. First and foremost, it's not the best sit down place but you could comfortably up to a group of 6. There are high tables and bar chairs. The food is better than most sushi-to-go places. I got the salmon roe, uni, and shrimp ride bowl and it was a great deal $12.99! Portions are not tiny for that price but don't expect to walk away stuffed. read more

My best friend showed me this place one day because she said the sushi is cheap and good. Just like that I was sold! Ever since I've been back twice with my boyfriend to order platters for lunch or dinner. We both enjoy it and it's close to home. While it's not the best sushi we ever had it is pretty good for what you pay for. read more

This place is now my new favourite sushi joint following the closure of ilpunji sushi house at Kennedy. The price is reasonable and the portion size is generous. I would recommend you all go try this place to ensure it stays in business and keep the price low. :) Hope this helps! read more
I first had sushi from here at a potluck and was highly recommended for the value for buck. Bf and I came in on a Friday night to dine in to check it out. We quickly realized it's definitely suited and set up as a take out place. We ordered the green dragon roll and a mixed platter for 40 pieces which were priced very fairly. Without much expectations on service, the server came with all our food and thoughtfully came with water and all the utensils and soy sauce and such all on a tray. The food was pretty fresh and decent. No complaints at all for the price and food that we got. Would recommend for take out for sure! read more

Good sushi at a reasonable price. The rolls are made well - little rice, lots of filling. Sashimi tastes fresh but isn't on the same level as Mi-ne or Osaka. They're not the best option in Markham quality-wise, but at such a reasonable price point, Ai Sushi is my go-to. A 16-piece Maki set is $12. They are slammed with takeout orders on some weekends so call well in advance - they've given me an approx. wait time of 3 hours + on a Saturday evening. read more

Ai Sushi is really a great place to get higher end quality donburi for take-out. I have tried both the Deluxe Kaisendon and Deluxe Chirashidon. Both the variety and the portion of sashimi are quite generous for the donburi. The deluxe donburi may be a bit pricier but does worth the extra considered it included some premium grade sashimi. I have ordered few times and both the presentation and taste are consistently great. Also, their house rolls are half size roll (4 pieces in each order). It is a great way to enjoy multiple rolls at the same for smaller order. I do recommend both their Honey Mustard Roll and Ai Roll. I usually order on weekdays and call ahead at least 20 to 30 minutes before pickup to avoid wait time. read more

Overall - 3.0/5.0 Newly opened Japanese quick serve restaurant owned by Chinese folks. Seating is limited as it is more of a takeout joint. You essentially order at the counter and they will bring you a tray with your food. The Good: - Extensive menu with very reasonable prices. - Chirashidon has a decent selection of sashimi. - Dragon roll was well prepared with clean knife work. The Bad: - According to their definition of a quick serve concept, it meant that there would not be any hot tea or water served. Water and soft drinks are available at additional cost. I would recommend them to at least have a self serve hot tea / water station for a better customer experience. - Sushi rice lacked vinegar flavour across the board and also came out a bit dry for the Chirashidon. - Skip the uni if you're used to eating the good stuff as the ones here are quite fishy and pungent. Feel free to give this place a try if you are in the area and looking to grab a quick bite or takeout to satisfy your cravings without breaking the bank. read more
Food: 3.5/5 I decided to order take-out for a lazy quick dinner. I got two orders of the deluxe Kaisendon. I had no problems with ordering over the phone and my food was ready as promised (on a weekday, they didn't seem busy). The deluxe Kaisendon came with a good variety of fish. Some highlighted items are the raw scallop, botan ebi, uni, and squid. The level of freshness is above average for Markham quality. You can taste the seawater from the ebi and the uni was creamy; but overall, the sashimi was lacking that sweetness. I will likely return to try other things on the menu. read more
Hip decor, reasonable prices and most importantly FRESH ingredients! What more can one ask for? This place has more of a casual fare. You order at the cashier next to the sushi chefs; sit at a table on a stool, and they'll bring you your order along with wooden chopsticks, paper plates and paper cups of water. The place seems pretty small and has about 4 communal tables. However, We (group of 6) went at around 2pm on a Saturday and had no trouble finding seats at all. Though casual, presentation of the food was pretty! If you don't live around the area, this place wouldn't catch your eyes and thus harder to find (in the papa chang's plaza). I would definitely come back! Next time for their rice bowls! (All under $15!!). Would be a nice choice for a casual date night! read more

The sushi here is definitely cheap but not amazing which is why I am giving three stars. If you want mediocre sushi for an affordable price, definitely give this place a try. It is more for take out than sit down but there are a few tables. read more

Decent japanese store. Price is reasonable. However, for japanese food joint. What you pay is what you get. Not saying the food is bad. Fish is fresh but can't say it's really really good. The rows has pretty much the same filling but wrapped differently. Lack of rice on rolls and when I pick up by chopsticks, everything falls apart. I can say this is the best japanese store in the area. At least within the 5km radius. read more

We order take out a few times, A 60 piece sashimi-sushi-roll $40. Another time we order the 80 piece $50. For the amount of food you getting I think this place is the best bang for your buck. The quality good can't complain for the price your paying. They have seats, if you want to dine in it's a order and sit kinda place. On weekends we call a few hours in advance to order, yeah they are that busy. read more

This is definitely more of a takeout place than a sit in place for sushi. Everything you order comes in take out containers. If you want to sit in, they will serve you hot water, wasabi, soya sauce, and give you paper plates for your food. They will also serve the food to your table. Place is very small and when arrive, you pretty much have to order first then seat yourself. Limited tables, I believe there was only 5 tables all together. The chairs are stools style so no where to put your belongings especially during the winter days with your chunky jackets. This place is also cash/debit only. They stated on their menu that it's only cash for party tray/platter orders. We ordered the 60 pieces combination of sushi and sashimi platter ($40) and Ai Sushi roll ($5.99) for 4 chunky pieces. Comparing the price and it's quality, I thought it was pretty decent. Overall, I feel very neutral about this place. It is not bad but it isn't amazing to me either. Plaza is also very small so limited parking spots. I highly recommend to go early so you can find a spot and a seat in the restaurant. read more

Not the greatest quality, not the worst, but definitely reasonable for the price. Had the 60 pcs assorted sashimi/sushi/maki roll combo for $38, which was mostly maki rolls and sushi, salmon carpaccio ($6) and beef tataki ($6). The rolls aren't overly stuffed with rice, which is nice. I'd say the quality is a bit above typical AYCE, and I'd be willing to drop on a random day for a quick and cheap sushi meal. Next time, I'll have to try the Hokkaidon with salmon roe, uni, and sweet shrimp ($12.99) or Deluxe Chirashidon ($13)! Tip: There are about 4-5 tables with bar seats that can seat about four people per table. Be prepared to either wait for a seat, cafeteria-style, or take your sushi home. Ai closes at 10pm, with last call at 9:30pm. read more

Their fish is pretty fresh and the price is very reasonable. Great quality for take out and it looks good on pictures, so definitely recommend to buy from here for special occasions or parties. They do have some tables to sit down but it is a small place. It is more for a take out style than Dinin read more
You cannot go wrong with ordering anything here. The prices are very reasonable for what you are getting. Of course it's not sushi quality like what you would find at the higher end sushi restaurants in Toronto but this place is perfect if you just want to quickly satisfy your sushi/sashimi cravings. We usually get take out, but you can order and dine in also (they provide paper plates for you from what I can remember). My hubs and I usually get the 40 pieces for $30. It comes with a variety of rolls, sushi and sashimi and we are able to finish everything. Just remember to order 45 minutes to 1 hour in advance as they are super busy in the evenings. read more
no frills take out place when you're in the mood for sushi and sashimi. They're pretty much always busy after 6pm on weekdays because it is loved by many people living in the area. I usually come here to dine in for a quick dinner. You would place your order and pay at the counter. After you seat yourself, the server will bring you your food and disposable utensils. I've have always been able to get my food within 15 minutes even when there is a long line of people waiting for their take out. Food quality is very impressive for the price point. Sashimi are fresh, and the rolls are flavourful. I usually get the 60 pcs assorted sushi-sashimi-rolls platter for $40 to share with my boyfriend. We would both be stuffed. I would highly recommend Ai Sushi. read more

I was recommended by my friend to check this place out because he mentioned their deluxe chirashi was bomb. This place is set up as a take out restaurant where you order at the front of the cash first. There are a few tall tables and stools to sit on. Deluxe Kaisendon - $16.99 - I must say this was worth the 16.99. They included salmon, white tuna, amberjack, octopus, sea urchin, scallops, salmon roe, squid, and the BOTAN EBI (insert emoji with heart eyes). Unfortunately, the rice was not well seasoned and was a bit too rough. The sea urchin and fish were not too fresh either. Overall, I would say this was worth the money for the types of seafood they put on but it was not the best quality charashi out there. Although, you'd probably won't be able to find a chirashi in Toronto with all the seafood listed above for less than or equivalent to $17. Staff: Overall friendly. Did not really interact with them because of the take out styled restaurant. Price: $$ Environment: Clean. High top tables and stools. Take out restaurant. Not for large parties. I'd still go back for the botan ebi! read more

This is our 4th time here. We went with fiends and introduce them to all the menu. Food was awesome, service also excellent and the waiting time was not to bad. Parking is easy. Pricing very good. Overall very recommended. read more
calling out this is a 3.5 rounded down to a 3.0. since this place opened the hype has been much about the value you get when you order take out whether it's a platter or a combo of things. apparently it's great value. So looked at their menu online and saw a a tree that essentially was all maki. now unlike a few other places I've been to this place had quite a limited selection with no substitutions. also average platter is $30 or more. second thing I noticed was that this place was cash only. I said fine cash only means no tax. sadly was wrong as they charged me tax anyways and demanded cash. kinda silly but I get it debit and credit fees are high probably. The actual sushi in their all maki platter for $32 was actually quite nice. well put together and great taste. really happy with how they tasted but a lot of basic rolls with little fish. for a local joint though without having to travel westward for a while or into downtown this is fine for guests or having as an option. read more
