    Assorted tempura
    Jessica C.

Found this new sushi spot in my neighborhood! Y'all let me tell you it's so good! The rolls are so flavorful and the tempura taste fresh and seasoned. Not like other places where it's just pure batter. The packaging is so cute and everything was really put together well. I ordered the assorted tempura, salmon and avocado sushi pizza, the spicy salmon dragon roll, and California roll. Everything is bomb! The quality is great! Rice to fillings ratio is perfect.. not too much rice which is what I like. Go check out Kibo! You won't regret it!

    What a feast

Wow! This is some good sushi. I've tried literally every sushi joint in this area, and they are all decent for the most part. But Kibo is something else. The menu first of all has a LOT more interesting options than your standard copy/paste menu that you get around here. There's all the usual suspects of course, but take a look and you're sure to see something unique. This location has a HIGH turnover rate... restaurants come and go so often I have lost count... but i'm hoping this one manages to find success where others have failed. The quality of the food was amazing and the flavor was intense. Actual spice. Actual umami. Bold flavors. High quality fish. Pricey? A bit. But you get what you pay for. Man oh man. I have a new go-to sushi place! Been a while since i've said that..

They have quite a few special roll options, though most were derivatives of California and Dynamic rolls. Tried the Lion King and Tataki Attack. Both were good with thin rice layers and relatively fresh seaweed wraps. I liked the Lion King better since it had more fillings. Chicken Karaage was so-so, more like pre-made chicken popcorn than authentic karaage. Shrimp Tempura was good - big shrimps wrapped in the thin, light and crispy batter. Service was great, the staff was very considerate - created a bigger space for us and added tea and napkins timely. Overall, a decent spot for sushi if you're in the area, but nothing that would make me drive across town. We showed up around 5:30 pm for an early dinner on Good Friday and still had to wait about half hour. What was ordered: Chicken karaage rice bowl Sushi and sashimi combo Sushi roll combo The verdict? The sashimi was good. Thick fresh slices. The roll (a version of California roll) was really disappointing. Way too much crab salad filler. The chicken karaage rice bowl was incredibly plain. Pieces of karaage on top of rice drizzled with mayo. The service was good but there wasn't enough to set them apart.

I ordered the dream platter and aburi Syaki oshi. I wasn't expecting it to be nicely packaged and it was a damn shame we threw them out but I almost felt like I paid for the extra nice packaging only to have it be tossed... but it does make an excellent gift for someone who really loves sushi! I wasn't expecting the gold leaf OR edible flower garnish at all. It was a very cute touch on this very snowy day. The oshi sort of fell apart everytime I picked it up which was a shame because it was nicely charred and sweet from the mango. Bit of a personal peeve but I don't think sushi should fall apart when you pick it up with a chopstick. I think it should stay in tact. Next time I'm gonna order takeout and have it delivered so I can feel like I had a nice package of sushi delivered

The Aburi Hamachi Oshi had a great char and was the standout because, honestly, blowtorched fish just wins every time. The Double Salmon Maki might look basic on paper, but it surprises me on every visit with how good it actually is. The seared butterfish in the Forbidden roll was rich and silky, and the seared scallop in The Fantasy roll was just as satisfying. No notes, just great sushi.

It was kind of loud, but just lots of people talking, so it's fine. Server was very attentive to our table and kept it clean. Did not like the crème brûlée at all here as it was very eggy. The torched white fish was very dirty water tasting too. Otherwise, everything else we got was good.

You order by iPad and there's a good selection. 95% is sushi/Japanese. 5% is Thai. The food is prepared and delivered quickly. Please don't feel the need to everything at once as it comes out the kitchen fast. The food is good. No big complaints. My kids liked the won ton soup. The hot and sour soup was ok - could have been a little more "hot"/spicy. The sashimi seemed fresh. Sushi rolls were nicely presented. The fried rice was good. Teriyaki chicken and beef were good too. My biggest problem and the likely reason for not returning - sitting by the window, for which there are many tables/seats, the place was freezing! We had to wear our jackets inside the restaurant. I'm sure they know they have an insulation problem as well weren't the only ones wearing jackets inside. It was just uncomfortable to sit there and eat at it was just too cold.
