I recently visited this restaurant for an early lunch and found the experience to be a mix of positives and notable drawbacks. The establishment has a casual dine-in setup, offering a relaxed atmosphere suitable for a quick meal or a short break during the day. Despite being a dine-in restaurant, all food is served in takeout boxes, which, while convenient for those on the go, slightly diminishes the overall dining experience for those choosing to eat on the premises. The food quality itself was acceptable. Reasonably portioned, adequately seasoned, and prepared in a timely manner. While it may not stand out as exceptional, it fulfills the expectations for a casual meal. However, the main issue that significantly impacted my experience was the cleanliness of the tables. The first table I sat at had a noticeably sticky surface, which immediately raised concerns about hygiene and maintenance. Assuming it was an isolated case, I moved to a second table, only to encounter the same problem. A third attempt produced similar results, suggesting that this is not an isolated incident but rather a recurring issue throughout the dining area. A sticky table surface not only detracts from comfort but also gives the impression that cleaning practices are not being properly observed between guests. This, unfortunately, overshadowed what could have been a satisfactory meal. In summary, while the restaurant offers decent food at a fair value, the overall dining environment requires improvement, particularly in the table cleanliness and food presentation. Until this concern is addressed, I would recommend opting for takeout instead of dining in, as the food quality is adequate, but the in-house dining conditions fall short of acceptable standards.

My friend suggested to come here and it was a very good decision. The salmon Poke bowl was $18 and full of flavour. Edamame was fresh and salmon was delicious. There's a good mixture of sauce to rice. Water was self serve, which is nice. I would definitely go back again.

Tasting menu for two

We ordered the tasting menu for two from this spot, and it was such a great experience -- even as takeout! Perfect for casual dining at home but with a touch of something special. The variety was impressive and gave us a chance to try a bit of everything. The fish was fresh and high quality, and each roll had unique flavors and thoughtful details that made every bite interesting. You can tell a lot of care goes into their craft. Even the presentation stood out -- the takeout box was neatly arranged and looked great, which made the whole experience feel more elevated than your average takeout sushi. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to, whether dining in or grabbing to go!

First time at Toro Toro and I enjoyed it! I didn't realize it was actually a take-out place so even when you dine in, they place it in a take out box but I didn't mind at all. Pretty reasonable price - we got this entire box set for $125 and it fed 5 adults & 1 child with some leftover. You typically need to notify them ahead of time if you plan on ordering this box set, but they were able to make it for us in just 20 minutes. Very quick service! I would definitely come back

I do take out as the review is good. The server is very polite and ask me to sit down to choose the dish. I order sushi tray . 50 pcs with $88. It has sashimi and sushi. It tastes fresh and sushi is good. The packing is excellent. It is like self serving and decorated in black theme. Very modern look. There is parking outside the restaurant .

I tried this in Vaughn but I liked this location better, we got the tasting box 40 pieces of sushi came with salmon sashimi, shrimp summer rolls, forbidden rolls, salmon tacos, crouching tiger, tataki maki, aburi syake oshi, fantasy, aburi maguro oshi, blossom roll. The take out boxes are really extravagant, they give ice cold lemon water, it is a takeout spot there isn't much service but the staff always have a smile on their face and this place was really packed. The salmon sashimi was very fresh and tasted and melted like butter, the shrimp summer rolls was really tasty, gave a lot of shrimp and tasted good with the rice paper, the forbidden roll is a butter fish and crab stick melted in your mouth with the caviar, out of this world, the salmon tacos were next level tacos, had a great kick with the jalapeño, the crouching tiger which was seared salmon and shrimp tempura, excellent roll had that crunch, the tataki maki melted in your mouth, great sear on the tuna and the yellow tail had a wonderful taste, the abure syake oshi is a seared salmon sushi shaped in a rectangle honestly all their sushi was so good, the fantasy roll was a seared scallop roll with cooked shrimp and crab stick the scallop tasted phenomenal just wanted to keep eating more, aburi mangoro sushi 24k gold flake I can't describe the taste it is really good the tuna was perfectly seared, everything was amazing presentation taste out of this world sushi.

On our visit we were impressed with the beautiful presentation. We ordered the tasting box for two, and it was definitely generous in portion--our stomachs were full of salmon by the end and we had pieces left over. It was a good experience and we appreciate the effort put into presentation and freshness. Just a little more variety and attention to rice quality would be my only constructive criticism

Congratulations on the 4th location!! I have always been a fan of Toro Toro, and I'm so happy to know that they were giving out a free poké bowl on the grand opening day! My mom and I arrived at 530pm (they open at 6 pm) and my oh my... the line was already quite crazy! I almost thought we wouldn't get our bowl, but we did!!! We got the classic salmon bowl and the signature toro toro bowl. Both are well portioned despite getting it free. The torched salmon in the toro toro bowl was strong, so it definitely brought out a smokey bite! Thank you, Toro Toro, for letting us all celebrate this opening with yall!!

Probably one of my most recommended places for sushi! It's a definite must try, from quality to appearance everything is amazing. It is pricier but for the quality you get, a good treat. We order for take out and they were done faster than we expected.

75 pc platter

I ordered the 75pc platter to share with 2 of my friends and the box had a good amount of food... the rolls were big and the fish was so fresh. We especially liked the slabs of sashimi which were so buttery. Overall, it was a good variety and portion that we had to bring some home as we weren't able to finish everything. This place has a decent amount of seating too and a water dispenser so you can chill while you eat. Good vibes despite it being set up as more of a takeout spot where you go up and grab your order when it's ready. I would return as this is a great option to have in Scarborough if you're looking for a non-AYCE place with quality sushi.

75 piece box

My friends and I ordered the 75 piece sushi box for takeout. 5/5 - It was fantastic! Every single piece of sushi was fresh, the rice and seaweed great as well, and overall just the best sushi place in GTA that I've had. It is quite pricey but honestly the sushi was so delicious I'd definitely get it again. Recommend anyone who wants a higher scale sushi and looking for takeout or dine in. Service was also awesome - everyone was friendly and they'd even gave a courtesy reminder call that the food was ready.

I love toro toro for the best takeout sushi! The fish quality is always consistent & fresh. The presentation of their boxes is stunning and is a treat itself. My favourite is always the aburi rolls & fresh cut salmon sashimi. The tasting box for two ($75) has a great selection of various rolls & Toro Toro highlights. As a casual dine in spot, we are always greeted upon entering with friendly encounters. They have a water station that is self serve & neat.

The place is on Hwy 7 and Woodbine beside the Hilton. It's under the condos by the S Town Centre entrance. Place is small but has a couple of seats if you want to eat in. I always get take out. The only one star off is I feel like they can add in a little bit more sauce, then it would be perfect. I will surely go here again!

I ordered Kabayaki Unagi which came in 1 size - large. As mentioned by other yelpers, it's not a lot of food and it's not filled to or close to the top. I was not full off of it, but I felt ok. The unagi had unagi sauce on it but the rest of the bowl had no sauce on it (cabbage, carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes). I wish there was an option to add more sauce. Overall rating - 3/5. Might need to try a different choice. Not in a rush to try again.

In a plaza full of Chinese restaurants, a Japanese restaurant standing there is eye-catching. However, I never had a chance to visit it until today. My wife got off earlier so we came here to have lunch. The first thing I noticed is that the whole restaurant is filled with manga-and-anime elements . The TV was playing an anime, the walls were full of drawings based on famous anime characters. "It must be very popular among anime-manga lovers in this region" I thought. I found the drawing papers were provided by the restaurant on the side and I guess they will mount whatever you draw. It has a daily special every day, it was chicken teriyaki don on that day, so we ordered one Chicken Teriyaki Don and one signature Beef Don . The Beef Don is a bit salty to me, but I couldn't deny that it's very tasty. My wife also loved their Chicken Teriyaki Don. Generally speaking, they taste just like what we expect from a Japanese-flavor meal. I also found it's a local business. It's not a chain store like the famous Yoshinoya (吉野家). I guess it wanted to copy Yoshinoya's style at the beginning, but it has already made its unique way in GTA and brings Japanese culture lovers joy and a place to hang out. Highly recommend .

We went to Donburi after seeing many positive reviews online, so we were really excited to try it…read more The ambiance was great, with lots of anime artwork and a cool atmosphere. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. First, the miso soup was filled right to the top, but it looked watered down, and unfortunately it tasted that way too. Even after mixing in the miso, it lacked flavor and was mostly just hot water. Second, we requested that the curry sauce be served on the side instead of poured over the dish. The server informed us that the chef had already poured the sauce on. We said that was okay and simply asked for an empty bowl so we could transfer some of the excess sauce ourselves. Third, we ordered chicken katsu with Nagoya sauce and spicy mayo. Both katsu portions came out very dark in color, almost burnt. They were crunchy, but the coating tasted bitter, and the chicken inside was still quite pink. When we asked the server whether it was supposed to look that dark, she explained that the coating contains sugar and can burns when cooked. Regardless, we did not enjoy it. Overall, this was not a good dining experience for us, and unfortunately we will not be returning. I'm glad we didn't order more food because, looking at the menu, there were several other items we had been interested in trying on a future visit. Sadly, after this experience, there won't be a next time.
