Food is yummy. Potion is small. Price is expensive. Too much ice in the drink. Over half of the glass is ice. Service is prompt and friendly. Ambiance is nice. Very simple though. And small. Overall I found it is overpriced.

We came for dinner, service was good, and lots of parking. They were having cash specials on the menu such as $8 handroll which was a great deal. I ordered what it said was "recommended" , the AAA beef burger don. It was all right , the meat was moist . My friend ordered the Grilled Sea Eel with tomago on rice, this was flavorful and nice. The signature roll was not worth $32. It was ordered but didn't come until everyone had finished their meals. The look of it was not that appetizing either. The seaweed on the roll was already softened. We also ordered some appetizers. The tofu and eggplant was good, we reordered a second serving so everyone could try, the chicken wings was good too with a little spiciness . Overall it was a nice space to have a gathering. The customer service was generally good as they kept refilling our tea.

I really appreciate the level of care Haru puts into both the quality of their food and their service. Their seafood is flown in daily, which is why they're closed on Mondays--shipments from Japan aren't available that day. Considering the premium ingredients they use, the prices are incredibly reasonable. Each dish is meticulously prepared, with an emphasis on both freshness and presentation. Some dishes even feature touches like edible gold flakes, and their matcha drinks are made using top-quality matcha and fresh fruits. I highly recommend trying the Konbujime Amaebi appetizer ($15). It's a fresh shrimp paste served with seaweed wraps, reminiscent of the tako wasabi style. The presentation is stunning--definitely Instagram-worthy! My favorite drink was the Ube Matcha Latte. The ube flavor really stands out and complements the matcha beautifully. Overall, the experience was outstanding. The interior design is versatile and stylish, making it a great spot whether you're meeting friends casually or going on a date!

Haru Japanese Cuisine is by the same owner behind The Noodle Bar and LC Cafe. The restaurant is still in its soft opening phase for more than 3 weeks now. We walked in on a Friday night and were very lucky to get the last table for 3 people. Staff were very friendly (spoke Cantonese and English) and the atmosphere was very homey and cozy. We enjoyed and shared the following items: - Tonkatsu Set with Rice - Fresh Clam Broth Udon - Hotate Tartare w/ Yuzu Sauce - Signature Haru Trio Roll Also, highly recommend the Super "Dry" Asahi Non-alcoholic Beer to go with your meal. Tasted closest to a regular beer as compared to other non-alcoholic beers; it was tested out by the owner himself ;) So excited for this new addition to the neighbourhood. Can't wait to come back to try the Business Lunch Set Menu and other items!

New japanese restaurant near Kennedy and 14th! It's located in the same plaza as Little Ring Cafe/Timmies, which is next to the First Choice Supermarket. The restaurant is owned by the same owners as The Noodle Bar and LC Cafe. I came on their second day of soft opening and service was exceptional considering they just opened for 2 days. We got there before 7:30pm, so there weren't a lot of people. There were lots of servers including the owners. They came over to describe the menu and provided some recommendations. I was quite impressed with the menu and the prices are pretty reasonable. We got the tonkatsu udon, grilled salmon chazuke, 9 piece premium sushi set. For each set/hot meal, you get to add $5 for 3 pieces of sashimi. I really wanted to get sea eel and the calm udon, but they said it wasn't available. The owner came over and told us about some issues that happened during the first two days, so he really appreciated our patience. If you've been to his other restaurants, you would know he likes to talk to his customers and is always willing to accept recommendations. Cash is 12% discount during their soft opening. We will definitely come back once things have settled.

New Japanese restaurant in town so we were excited to try it. Ordered the Tokyo style sashimi rice bowl. The sashimi are fresh but there weren't too many pieces and there is no toro or any higher grade fishes . It was $32 so it doesn't come with soup or ice cream. The tables are clean and seatings are spacious but there is only 1 washroom for the whole restaurant for both men and ladies.

Cute little Japanese restaurant tucked away in a Tim Hortons plaza at Kennedy and 14th. It's small bright space serving up classic Japanese dishes like sashimi sushi udon and Donburi. The food ordered came out so fast and quick. They were fresh and well made. A good spot for lunch or dinner.

A group of us attended the soft launch today at Haru for dinner. We had a wonderful experience. The sashimi fish is flown in from Japan and scrumptious. Pressed sushi was delightful. You know it's a legit sushi joint when the wasabi is authentic. Staff were very attentive and refilling our tea. They had good menu recommendations. The owner/chef was pleasant and told us about his food. They accommodated us well with young kids. I recommend and will come back.

The plate is too long. They should arrange a bigger table for us. We as customers have to move the cutlery around

It's soft opening and they don't accept reservation for now. however they still ask for my name and phone number. There were just two of us. We are asked to sit at a 2-people table (that's a small one), but other two people groups sat at bigger table (which is supposed for 4 people). I'm not sure why... maybe we called in advance?! The servers are nice and friendly. The restaurant is spacious. The blinds they use cannot really cover the sun beam. We are told that some of the fishes are imported from Japan. If this is the case, when they put the sashimi platter and sushi platter, why they don't let us know the details of the fishes? Well they are not busy at that time. We also ordered curry udon with tonkatsu. I asked if the tonkatsu is on the side. The server told me that yes it is on the side. When it is on our table, the tonkatsu is in the bowl. I'm shocked but I' said it's ok. The server came to our table and took a look then said "understood". She did not say anything to us at all. But then we overheard a chef? Talking to the servers regarding curry sauce and on the side. They discussed this at the entrance of the restaurant. It's actually quite loud. Yes it's soft opening. There are a lot of improvements but you can do it after work hours or inside the kitchen. Just not in front of your customers and at the entrance. The menu overall is okay, no surprise. Will I go after the grand opening? I'm not sure.

Taki is a fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the busy commerical areas of Richmond Hill…read more We recently had lunch here for a special occasion. The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

Was worried it wouldn't be filling, but it's just the right amount of food. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want a traditional Japanese meal, this would be my spot. The sushi chef was very friendly and approachable, but he wouldn't make you feel like you need to yap with him like other omakase I've been to in Toronto where they would talk to the customers a lot. The wait staff was attentive and polite. Overall really good quality sushi, service and value. Would come again! I also appreciate that they don't require a deposit for reservations and don't require to pick the set you want beforehand. Very clean and warm design. Felt like I was in Japan!

Back again and incredible again…read more Small tip. You don't need to order on only one phone. As long as you scan the bar code, you can order from any phone. Enter either you own info if paying separately or the same info if one person pays all of it. Lots of new dishes as well as old favourites: Chochin: Tried it. Not a fan. Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

Good food that hurts your wallet…read more Japanese izakayas are few and few between in Markham - that's why I got excited to see Sumoki pop up! It's not on the main street of Unionville, but its presence on a side road matches the quaint nature of the restaurant. It's not the biggest inside, but it gives off a Japanese aesthetic with the wood trim throughout. We made reservations in advance to avoid long lines, if any (thankfully it wasn't packed the night we went). Orders are made via QR code, which seems to be the norm now. I like it since you don't have to waive down waiters in a low-dimmed izakaya. Their main offering seemed to be skewers. We ordered a bunch of them to try - notably, all of them had a nice smoky fragrance to them (maybe that's why it's called Sumoki). We especially enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Skin. Perfect crunch from the initial bite leading to a slight chew throughout. The seasoning was spot on as well. Other honourable mentions include extremely succulent Chicken Thigh meat, Gizzards and Beef Tongue. You could really taste the meat juices from each skewer since the chefs don't overpower it with seasoning. Other local skewer places tend to have the same seasoning across different cuts of meat, so Sumoki felt like a breath of fresh air amongst the growing market. Coincidentally, it's also the first place I've been to offer Giant Rooster Testicles. Now...don't be alarmed. It sounds exotic and might not be everyone's cup of tea, but this dish is extremely creamy. Give it a try if you have the courage! We came to celebrate my brother's birthday, but quickly realized our bill was racking up really quickly despite a small number of orders. Sumoki is definitely a place where you don't want to come on an empty stomach, since each order is 1 skewer (unlike other local restaurants). Other menu items, from what we saw of neighbouring tables, didn't fare much better in terms of portion sizes. We left quickly to avoid some serious financial damage for the 6 of us, but also quickly drove to another impromptu restaurant to get settle our hunger down. Sumoki definitely isn't cheap. I wouldn't recommend this to be a formal dinner - moreso if you wanted a light snack after dinner. But then again, with these prices, Sumoki tries to make itself bougie without delivering 100% satisfaction so maybe try at your own risk.

Miki Sushi feels like the kind of place you can casually stop by and settle into a simple, satisfying meal. Spicy Seafood Udon This is exactly what suits the weather right now. Loaded with shrimp, mussels, scallops, mushrooms, and other toppings, the broth has a Korean-style spicy kick that's both warming and comforting. Salmon Pressed Sushi Generously sauced and rich in flavor, each piece feels indulgent but easy to enjoy in one bite. BBQ Ika (Grilled Squid) Despite the chili on top, it's only mildly spicy. The squid is tender with a slight chew, served with bean sprouts and vegetables, and finished with a savory glaze. It comes out on a hot plate, so just be a little careful. Overall, it's a relaxed, comforting spot that works perfectly for days when you just want something warm without overthinking it
