Lunch special - salmon sushi and sashimi, veggie Gzoya

Lunch special deal is so good Friendly service Fresh fish and yummy sushi, sashimi, fried gzoya, salad and soup Small quiet restaurant with lots of parking

As long as I remember Sapporo Sushi has been opened for a long long time. The sushi here isn't the best quality but I know what I'm expecting every time I come here. I would say the prices are fair. I love ordering their handrolls because they're about $3-4 per Handroll and they're stuffed! The spicy salmon Handroll would be my favorite! There's nothing really stand out about the place.. but customer service is great! I would avoid ordering the uni... it's not fresh and has a weird smell or maybe it was a bad day.. I've probably been here a handful of times and I enjoy coming back because of their tasty cheap handrolls. Worth a shot but don't expect much! 3.5/5

We have been to Sapporo for almost 10 years. It was recommended by our friend when we moved to this area. We really like the salmon bento, and mostly we order take out. The spicy salmon rolls are the best in the area, the right size that you can eat in one bite, and not too oily. The salmon crispy spicy hand roll is also our favourite. When placing order by phone though, there was once they didn't ask which hand roll, just put in the fake crab crispy roll, which was really bad. Since then i always told them very clearly i wanted the spicy crispy roll. The salmon sashimi is always the right thickness and freshness. And today we came to dine in. It was Labour Day holiday at 5:30pm. It was quite empty and we ordered salmon bento, torched salmon bento and dinner special 1. All came in big volume and we all enjoyed it. The torched salmon is huge. Itself can feed 3 people. Highly recommended! The salad is good too with avocado inside. The dinner special 1 is yummy too. The salmon is really creamy and served at the right temperature. Our server was quite nice and attentive. We would have given 5 stars if it were not because of the price and how old the interior looks. Overall, i think it is a decent sushi restaurant that we will go back again.

    [Salmon Festival Roll] $16.95! YUMMY

I can't necessarily recall why we ended up ordering food that day to the office, but we did and I'm extremely glad! I would have never tried this establishment otherwise because there are far too many Japanese places in the surrounding area. [Salmon Festival Roll] $16.95 - this is one of Sapporo Sushi's "special rolls" meaning that it's more than just your standard six pieces when it comes to quantity. This roll, in specific, was cut into 10 pieces as per what the menu says. The exterior of the roll features torched salmon, salmon roe (big fish eggs), a creamy sauce that has a kick to it and also, unagi sauce! The interior of the roll has shrimp tempura, mayonnaise, cucumber, imitation crab meat, and avocado. As I don't use soy sauce anymore, I truly appreciate when a roll is able to carry itself when it comes to flavor and this roll definitely falls into that category! It's absolutely delicious and extremely filling. I believe I only ate half of it for lunch and I took the other half home for dinner later that night. I do want to mention that the roll, at least for take out, came with salad and miso soup! I would highly recommend getting takeout from this place but I can't necessarily comment on their service as I did not dine in. TRY THIS PLACE IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AFFORDABLE AND DELICIOUS SUSHI :D

I will never say no to fresh salmon! Sapporo may be a small family run restaurant, but their fish is fresh and that's most important when you're at a sushi joint! Dinner Special 1 is a good choice if you're hungry, with 8pcs sashimi, 5pcs sushi, 6pcs rolls, 1 spicy hand roll, miso soup and salad. Although sushi has gotten much more expensive with inflation hitting hard, this is worth it.

Been here a couple of times (4ish times) and it's been good every time we've been here. It's in the same place as another Korean owned sushi place called Akane. In terms of how this place is compared to Akane - Sapporo's fish definitely tastes more fresh and their rolls are generally better. However, it is a little more expensive than Akane. It's probably around 10-15 bucks more a person. Definitely worth giving this place a try, I'd probably recommend it over Akane tastewise but you'll get more bang for your buck at Akane! Verdict: It's good, will be back for more.

I've been coming here for years and I used to really love Sapporo Sushi, but not so much anymore. Pros - Service: Service here is always great. The servers are really nice and attentive. - Quality: I find the quality here to always be good! The fish always tastes fresh and everything is freshly made. Cons - Price: I came here recently and found it to be about $20/bento box now which I find to be a little pricey. For this price, I find that I can be eating AYCE instead. The prices have jumped up quite a bit since 3-4 years ago. - Parking: Parking situation here can be a little tight if you come during lunch or dinner. - Seating: The restaurant is small and tight. I'd say that there are about 5-7 tables. Foods I like - Double Dragon Bento - Salmon Bento - Dinner Special 1 & 2

I came here probably a year or two ago and remember it being really good. However, today was probably a one off, because the food was not very good. The two of us came a little past 1 pm on a Friday. It's a small restaurant, and it was a quarter packed. There were two chefs, and one waitress. The menu is decently priced and affordable, and there are also weekday specials from Monday to Thursday. My friend ordered lunch special 1 bento box, and I ordered lunch special 3 with sashimi. The miso soup that came with the meal was very diluted, and there wasn't any taste. The salad, was very vinegary tasting. I am usually fond of salad, but I couldn't even touch my friends salad. I was hoping this was a one off until the food arrived. The salmon was decent, and tasted fine. However the fried stuff on my platter was terribly awful. The filling in my gyoza tasted like it was going bad, and tasted a day old. I thought it was just one gyoza, but the second one had even a stronger taste of it going bad. The shrimp in my dynamite roll tasted like it had been fried yesterday, and was soggy tasting, and not crispy whatsoever. The only good thing about this whole meal was salmon sashimi and the tea. There was also no ice cream served after our meal as mentioned in other reviews. The restaurant was aware of my concern, but only mentioned that they would look into the food. I'm really hoping this whole situation was a one off, considering that the last time was much better.

Sapporo Sushi was not good on my most recent visit. The Bento Sashimi and Sushi ($14.95) was really really bad... The sushi are so small like miniatures and the rice was hard and chewy! When I saw the Beef Teriyaki ($8.95), I could not stop laughing as they were just cold beef reheated slightly on a table grill.. they were cold, tasteless and chewy, great with the cold and hard rice on the side. I guess I am not coming back any time soon....

Looking for a cute little sushi place that isn't AYCE in uptown Richmond Hill? Tired of stuffing your face until your belt buckles scream "oh the humanity" because you're trying to get your money's worth at Wasabi or Aji Sai? Well this is your place, the decor and staff inside shout kawaii and you feel like you're right in the pages of your favourite anime. It feels very Tokyo sushi shop and my personal favourite touch is the blow fish banner draped across the bar area. Staff here and nice and polite and serve you as fast as they can. Usually there is only one poor waitress working, so the minute you sit down, you might be waiting a little bit for your green tea and menu. Your typical bento box meal will run you around $15 and that will come with a soup and salad. A great price considering how "so fresh and so clean" their fish is. Also they are one of the few restaurants that serve Uni (Sea Urchin), so make sure you grab a slice for your choice of box. Overall a great one stop shop for your sushi fix in the Uptown district. I'm like hey whatsup Saporro!~

Salmon focused platter for 2 people
    Dilys C.

It is a small restaurant with limited seating. We ordered the salmon platter which was salmon focused. It comes with 2 handroll (choice of crispy or salmon), 2 seaweed salad or green salad, and 2 miso soup and 2 ice cream. They prepared salmon in different ways (torched, deep fried with tempura) with different cuts of salmon. There was deep fried tempura battered salmon skin, and salmon belly cut. The platter had spicy salmon roll and a shrimp tempura roll topped with salmon. Overall it was interesting having a salmon focused platter, prepared in different ways. The platter is meant for 2 people with all the extra stuff it comes with. Serving size was perfect for 2 people and all the salmon was fresh.

My girlfriend and I come to eat here fairly often since she lives close by. The food is always great; we've never been disappointed. "What would you like for dinner?" This is always one of the first places that comes to my mind. I've found that ordering an appetizer and a special roll will fill you up completely. I especially recommend the spicy sashimi salad. The employees are always friendly and the place itself is very cozy. The restaurant is fairly small but makes for an intimate meal. Coming here with a small group of people is nice. One of the best sushi places I've ever been to. This should definitely be on your list of places to check out.

Double dragon lunch bento- take out
    Diana C.

Had take out lunch today, double dragon and salmon bento 12.95 for each combo. Sashimi was very fresh and generous cuts too. Miso was good/typical but salad was lacking, iceberg end cuts, sushi rice was right taste and texture. I would go back soon for lunch again, good value for money. No tax if paid with cash!

Deluxe Chirashi; the three pieces of tuna nigiri DID NOT come with it, but both were delicious =9

Came here with some friends for the omakase special meal…read more Such a lovely overall standard omakase experience and meal. The highlight for me was probably the set of four starter appetizers, they were flavourful, delicately prepared and perfect way to start the meal. I liked the slightly pickled dish with cucumbers the best. We also had sushi prepared with fresh seafood. The rice was probably my favorite compared to other places I've been. It was perfectly seasoned rice, warm and cooked to have just the right texture, not overcooked and not undercooked. The rice held up well when picked up by hand and complemented the flavours of the fish. Finished the meal with a matcha flavored pudding flan type dessert which had deep matcha flavours. If you're a fan of matcha, you'd probably enjoy it too. All in all, the meal was enjoyable, the torched tuna sushi was probably my favorite sushi of the set and my least favorite was the egg/eel, I was expecting a sweet egg at the end so it unexpected.

The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

Ordered tempura vegetables and shrimp with 6 pieces total was only around $9. This tempura tasted truly delicious compared to other pricier restaurants! For example, the black cod is usually feel heavy with the miso based sauce, but they added some acidity to the sauce and they made the black cod taste rich and light (not to mention the black cod was perfectly cooked); traditionally the Brussels Sprouts would be finished by tossing balsamic vinegar over it. Sometimes that would still feel heavy. Instead, they tossed it with strawberry vinaigrette. So the acidity is very light and not too sweet. We finished our meal with the Yokai Signature Maki. Yes, they SHOULD be proud of this Maki enough to put their name on it. They hit it on the nail with the taste profile. I have a zero tolerance with spiciness, so they put the spicy mayo on the side, and I encouraged my wife to dip the Maki with it. She confirmed my suspicion that the spicy mayo took the maki to another level. We definitely will come to try other dishes. Edit: they comped us a slice of Matcha Cheesecake. While it is still not my cup of tea, but I was very impressed with how good it taste. My "dislike" is with cheesecakes because they feel heavy. Though it is still on the heavy side for me, but as soon as I spoon in a bit of the strawberry sauce, it just lightened up the whole thing.
