This is truly a beautiful (and delicious) spot! Not only is the inside gorgeous, but 17th street is such a great place to sit outside for your meal, which we did. The waiter had a ton of great suggestions for my friend and I-- we ended up getting 2 small plates (hummus and a hot mezze dish with eggplant) and 1 main dish (a lamb and New York strip kabob) to share between the 2 of us. It was plenty of food for us. Everything was very flavorful. I will be back here!

nice vibe, fantastic dips, great company! went here hungry and was a bit skeptical I'd be full by the end but with 1 dip, 2 mezzes, and an order of lamb chops I left feeling just right. Definitely want to try the pistachio soufflé next time!

I dined in for my birthday, and I have nothing bad to say about the quality of the food!!!! All the meat dishes were nice and tender, Agora DC, you really won brownie points on this one. (: My only complaint was the a/c didn't seem to be working as well as I expected (at least where I was seated). The Ambiance of the restaurant is cute, but not ideal for big parties. Perhaps ideal for a date night.

Brunch review! Great value and taste with bottomless mimosas that can be added for $10 (orange and cranberry). Our starters came out quick! Great service! Even if we had to ask for items a few times, our server delivered with a smile. (He placed the order and the kitchen brought out the items.) The Turkish/Mediterranean dishes were tasty with dessert to finish off the indulgent meal. Nice ambience. The noise level is elevated, but lively. My aging ears were trying to keep up, lol. I was with a group and they made it simple, no fuss unlike many other establishments that make you groan while reading their website with fussy and impossible rules. It was worth the trip to drive in to uptown DC. Parking was limited, but more available for Sunday. I would return and recommend to friends.

We love Agora's Happy Hour drinks!! Staff members are always friendly and welcoming. Beautiful restaurant!

I came to Agora with a group of Yelpers for a Restaurant Week brunch. Our server, Fredy, was amazing, always handling our requests with a smile and apologizing when some items took a while to come out. Adding unlimited mimosas for $10 was a steal. My favorites were the Acuka spread and flatbread, kiymali eggs benedict, and lamb shoulder and rice.

The vibe? Immaculate. Think warm lighting, gorgeous bar seating, and just enough "I'm chic but effortless" energy. The kind of place where you accidentally stay way longer than planned. The food? Delicious across the board -- and definitely made for sharing (or pretending to share while guarding your favorites ). Every dish felt thoughtful and flavorful without trying too hard. The spread platter is a must. Shrimp was yummy-- wish more came with the dish. Lamb was succulent. Chicken kabob was grilled to perfection. Manti was yummy. I loved the baklava. And can we talk about the hibiscus spritz?? Beautifully balanced, refreshing, and dangerously easy to keep ordering. She's pretty and she delivers. 10/10 would return for the ambiance, the bites, and a little sip-sip moment

Was so eager to try bottomless brunch here because I love Mediterranean menus but this one ended up being very underwhelming. For the food, taste just wasn't there across the board. The best thing were the chicken skewers. We upgraded to the premium drinks and was glad we did because the margaritas and strawberry vodka ones were fan favorites amongst the table. Was advised by a bartender to not order the gin lavender one and they were right because it was horrible. Very limited dessert options but the donuts tasted like pure oil, not enjoyable. Service could've been more efficient, we had to ask for someone to come so we could put in more orders multiple times. We were a larger party so I get it can be kind of chaotic but still would've been nice to have more attentiveness. Probably won't return here but glad for the experience.

Came here for brunch and wow, everything exceeded expectations. The appetizers were incredible, especially the labneh, hummus, and baba ghanouj, all packed with flavor. My favorite dish was the lamb shoulder, it was so juicy and so tender. The flatbreads were also a great addition to the table. For dessert, the lokma and fruit platter were the perfect, light way to end the meal. It was pretty busy around brunch time that it was kind of hard to have a proper conversation. Still, definitely worth it for the food alone.

I came for restaurant week Jan 2026. The space is gorgeous esp for a date night but the food is a little bland and missed the mark for me. I recommend going for happy hour as the prices are about 50% less than they are on the dinner menu. First Course: - Trio Sampler Plate: 6/10. The pita is dry and I wish I saved the dips to go with the main course. Second Course: - Gavurdagi Salad: 5/10. Watered down. Do not recommend. - Mücver: 5/10. Similar to a Latke. It was dry and I wouldn't have been able to swallow it if it weren't for the sauce! Third Course: - Börek: 9/10. Reminded me of spanakopita just in egg roll form. If you're a charcuterie queen you'll love the tomato marmalade. - Mixed Mushrooms: 8/10. My man loved these but he doesn't have much of a diverse palette. I thought they were just okay. Fourth Course: - Köfte: 5/10. They might as well slapped some hamburger patties on the plate. I regret not getting the cauliflower or chicken tinga instead. - Branzino: 9/10 It was good but the fillet was a little thin leaving me wanting more.

I've been hearing about Agora and wanted to give them a try. I enjoyed the atmosphere and sitting on the balcony overlooking the restaurant. My server was also attentive and kind. Overall the food was fresh and cooked very well. The pita bread was a 10/10. I also enjoyed the cauliflower and the balance of sweet and savory it had. However, the lentils and branzino lacked some flavor. I would rate Agora a 3.8 if I could

Omg the food is amazing. The vegiterian options are chefs kiss too. The care that the food is given you taste in every bite. I suggest coming with a big group because it is perfect for a big meal. Service was very intentional and quick too.

I wanted to come to this place for a long time and I wasn't entirely impressed. I love Mediterranean food, but this spot just fell short. The spreads sampler was good and the lamb was certainly the star of the show. Also, honorable mention to the cheese which was amazing! The rice was interesting, not bad but also not good. Most of it was hard, so that was disappointing. The beef dumplings were also hard and didn't have a lot of flavor. Luckily, dessert was awesome. The pistacho dessert was surprisingly delicious. I'd go back just to have that. The place is super cute and a great spot for some cute selfies, but I'm still not sold on the food here. I think I'd try it again to give them a second chance, but I've had better Mediterranean food in the city.

Are the heated tents still an option for outdoor seating?

Yes

Are dogs allowed on patio?

Hi Meghan, yes we allow for dogs on the patio, however, we encourage guests with bigger dogs (mastiffs, saint Bernard's, great Danes; dogs of this size) , to refrain from bringing them as we have limitations due to our COVID seating arrangements.…

Is the patio seating enclosed or open air now?

Open air with heat lamps.

How much is brunch without the alcohol?

15-20$

My birthday is coming up and I was wondering if they do table reservations for about 10 people or more. Is the space minimal?

Hi, I went to brunch there for a friend's birthday and it was 10+ people. Upstairs is spacious and they'll be able to get you a table for your party as long as you call ahead of time and make reservation! Hope this helps :)

There was a nice crowd, pleasant music, and a relaxed energy. I tried the Hummus + Pita, Za'atar Pide, and Tawook Burger. The standout for me was definitely the Za'atar Pide. Made with Palestinian za'atar, creamy feta, and labneh, it was flavorful, savory, creamy, and easily my favorite dish of the afternoon. I would order it again without hesitation. The Hummus + Pita was a great start, and the Tawook Burger with two breaded chicken breasts, cheese, onion, mesclun, tomato, and house-made sauce on brioche was hearty and satisfying. Good food. Pleasant atmosphere. Attentive service. And much love for that Za'atar Pide! I'll be back for it.

The Batata Hara: fried potatoes with garlic were dangerously good. Overpowering with the garlic but in the absolute best way possible. The Karahab fried brussels sprouts and the Tawook chicken breast burger were both delicious and well executed. The only miss for me personally was the ribeye gyro but that's less about Ala and more about me finally confirming that gyros and I are just not meant to be. The food gets a solid 5 stars. The seating situation however deserves a conversation. Yelpers were directed to either the bar or outside with no other options offered. The weather cooperated and it wasn't a bad experience outdoors but when the hostess specifically stated that Yelpers sit at the bar or outside, that landed differently. The restaurant appeared beautiful from what I could see and assuming the inside was as lovely as it looked, that felt like a quiet form of segregation that the restaurant should probably revisit. Guests are guests regardless of how they found you. Our waiter was attentive and never forgot about us which is always appreciated. Overall a great experience with one note worth addressing. I'd return but hopefully at the main table next time.

French/Mediterranean style, the food was pretty good and service was great--our server Julio was helpful recommending us dishes to try and was attentive all night. Escargots was a great start, wasn't a huge fan of the Mini Tartelettes Crab & Caviar overall taste. For entrees, would recommend Loup de Mer au Fenouil (whole branzino) and La Paella de Cassoulet (confit duck leg)--both wonderful dishes, flavorful and huge portions, but note, it's more on the salty side so if you're a savory person like myself, it was delicious! Upon being seated in a gorgeous booth- we realized we couldn't hear each other as a bday party of 12 people were set up in the center of the restaurant... and they were LOUD... it was so unpleasant I had to ask for a manager. Come to learn - multiple other tables had complained as well.... They offered us another table but it was not conducive for an intimate feeling... so we risked staying hoping they'd wrap it up. The manager was lovely and poured us 4 glasses of prosecco as an apology. The food is spectacular- lots of incredible seafood options included in the 3 course $65 RW menu and not one smell of fishy-ness. The sauces and execution are truly delicious- I've lived in the Mediterranean and in France and this is the real deal. Tons of gluten free dairy options which is so amazing. Service was nice and pleasant - not mind blowing. The manager also comped an additional incredible desert and I appreciated that. By the time we got our check at 9:45, another table of 10 was seated at the center of restaurant... and the noise level started to ratchet up. I looked at our check and realized the extra desert that was comped was actually charged to us ... and it was a $22 desert... obviously asked for a refund which they obliged. The establishment is a year old and I think it's having a small identity crisis still - it's stunning inside with an elegant feel and some people dressed in an impeccably classy manner ... and others ... dressed as though they're headed to the club or a pop concert... by no means should a restaurant with such elevated dining where apps are $20 plus and entrees $40 plus feel like you're having to yell at your dinner companions at 7:30pm. Perhaps they need two seatings & advertise that from 9:30pm onwards large parties and noise levels will exponentially increase .. We may still go back since it meets a lot of our dietary needs with upscale flavors- but I hope they figure out with the ambiance !

It was literally in the alley, and was giving Covid setup. Definitely would not recommend the outdoor area to anyone. There was no music, the decor was fine but again, looked very subpar and you could tell everyone else that arrived and sat outside after us had the same thoughts. Now to the food. I will say all of it was good, but for the price? I could find another Middle Eastern adjacent restaurant in DC for less money. It was a little outrageous in my opinion. We did choose the tawle experience. The dips with good, and came with endless flatbread. But it was interesting how some of the portions were huge and then others felt like they were skimping. We got huge portions of pickled vegetables and a giant salad, but then when it came to the shrimp kabobs we ordered, we got 5 pieces of shrimp. I will say the steak portion we chose we large, but then again for dessert, it was just a half mason jar size of a chocolate mousse to split...It was just interesting. Several of the staff knew it was our anniversary and they could've given maybe an additional dessert or a glass of champagne but nothing. Again for a restaurant of this caliber, you would just expect more. I say all of this to say, we did have a gift card that covered most of our $300+ meal. But if I were going without that, I would've been even more disappointed. I know people have raved about this place for years, but the original chefs have changed, and I'm understanding more why they've lost their Michelin star. It's easy to miss walking down the street, and then you enter through essentially a hallway that doubles as a long slim bar. The tomato panzanella was okay but the tomato could have been more ripe. I'd heard about the focaccia but something was off when we went--something was very clearly missing, maybe salt, and it just tasted like a pretty dense vehicle for oil. They change the focaccia seasonally and may have just been having a bad day so I'd try it again but it was not great. The gnocchi was very good and very filling. The chicken was good, and the dill lemon sauce was nice. The desserts were all good--the phyllo cheesecake with peaches, a chocolate pudding, and a cheese plate with blue cheese and a Pennsylvania pecorino. Two of us tried the Hermes drink first and unfortunately it was very underwhelming. It tasted like slightly alcoholic water, but didn't have much flavor. The blueberry lemon cocktail was much more interesting.
