I scheduled an appointment with this ophthalmology clinic for a possible eye infection, only to find out on the day of my visit--when I called to confirm--that the office had canceled my appointment without notifying me. I was told the provider would be at another location that day, but no one reached out by phone, text, or email to let me know or to help reschedule. For something as important as eye care, especially when symptoms are concerning, this lack of communication is extremely disappointing. Patients rely on timely updates, and it's frustrating to discover a cancellation only because I called. I have vision insurance but my out of pocket costs are so high here, it's like not having insurance. I actually pay less going out of pocket at Costco optical or Warby Parker. The last straw was when they told me it'd be $100 per pack of contact lenses then when I only ordered 1, bc it's more than 20% cheaper at Costco, they charged my insurance $130 bc that was the max that insurance would reimburse them. Despite loving my two experiences here with Dr. Baghoumian, I unfortunately will not be returning because of issues with Acuity Eye Group corporate. About a month ago, I received a call from Acuity stating that I had an unpaid balance that needed to be paid. I called them back on their billing department line twice and was disconnected without warning while on hold. Two days ago, I received a call from them stating that they would be sending me to collections for an outstanding balance. I once again called their billing line and was once again disconnected while on hold I called back and requested a call back when a representative was available when the representative called me back they informed me that I had a $14 outstanding balance from my eye exam in 2021. I have been back for a second exam in 2022 and never heard word of this outstanding balance until now. While on the phone I discovered that they had my account information incorrect, including the spelling of my name - which is weird because it should match my medical information that the company has for my insurance. I explain my frustration and the billing department representative was rude and curt. She took my payment and hung up on me even though I expressed an interest in making a customer service complaint and the recording ahead of the call stated that I would be able to conduct a brief survey after the call. It's unfortunate that this outstanding $14 payment has cost them a future with me as a client and annual payouts from my insurance which would amount to much higher income than said $14 payment. read more

Everything with the exam went great and I was optimistic that the process of ordering contacts/trials would be seamless. Unfortunately, my optimism was in vain. I have a pretty serious astigmatism in my right eye that requires custom-made contacts so I was unable to leave the appointment with trial lenses-- which is totally not a problem and is the norm. However, I communicated that I would be switching insurances soon (within ~4 months) that I would like to pay for the appointment and lenses in full. I was told this couldn't happen but that they would make an effort to get the trial lenses and full orders in as soon as possible. I paid for my appointment and left. Then, the trouble started. About three months later, I get a letter stating that my appointment was not paid in full and that I had an outstanding balance of $35. If I did not pay immediately, I would be sent to collections. I called and paid the outstanding fee but it was not explained to me why it was not charged at the time of the service or if this was common practice for Acuity writ large/at this clinic. Annoying but fine. Another two or so months pass (~5 months since my initial appointment) and I am informed that my trial lenses have come in. I informed the office that I was no longer on the same insurance and that my new insurance carrier is not supported at their office. I asked if I could still pick up the trials or if there would be a charge associated since I am no longer insured with someone that they carry and was told that they didn't know and would call me back. I never got a call back. After a while, I gave up trying to contact them and found a new optometrist. The new optometrist informed me that, to save on costs, I could simply send them my prescription from Acuity and they could order the contacts without charging me for another exam. Over the course of the last 4 months, I have been trying to get my prescription from Acuity to no avail. Only the clinic I went to (Glendale) has my prescription information and there is "no way for the call center to access that information." I have called the Glendale Acuity office weekly for the past four months during business hours and have not been given my own medical information. I can almost never get in touch with anyone who works there and have to leave a message-- none of which have been returned. When I AM actually able to get in touch with them, I am told they will send my prescription to me via email, I confirm the email address, and then never get the information. All in all, Dr. Baghoumian and her medical staff are great but the front desk staff and corporate office need work. I don't recommend going here if you want anything that resembles customer service from the front desk or corporate. read more

This was the worst experience I've had with an eye doctor and clinic and I've been wearing contact lenses since I was 13. They are unprofessional, rude, and will try to bill you for whatever they can. There is no clear communication with patients and they seem to have limited knowledge of dealing with vision insurance companies. I listened on the phone as they argued (unsuccessfully) with my insurance rep over a mistake in billing that they had made. It took us three phone calls and more than four weeks to remedy the issue. Dr. Baghoomian and her staff are pleasant professional and efficient. The Dr checked my eyes so thoroughly, saw that I have Dry Eye. This is not something that anyone else had explained to me in the past. I'm grateful for Doctors and technicians that take their profession to such a personal level. Understanding my concerns and needs. No need for a new prescription right now. Eye drops and open communication from my doctor may just solve the problem! I feel so bad for writing this, but I could not, in good conscience, let today's visit go without warning other people about Dr. Tom Chang. Sadly, I have always had pleasant visits with Acuity Eye Group, but today, I met Dr. Tom Chang and I will NEVER go back to this establishment. To make a long story short, I was in the ER last night and was given medical treatment for an eye condition.I was in excruciating pain. I have a history of really bad infections, even dangerous. They told me to follow up asap with my ophthalmologist in the morning. The ER staff was kind and did what they could. I see Dr. Tom Chang and from the moment he walked in, he didn't even bother looking at my eye. He dismissed me, rudely. I was crying and he said that he's not a specialist in this disorder. I have now made an appointment with another doctor today. Please be forewarned, this man is extremely denigrating. I am still in so much pain and he said he didn't know why and to go somewhere else, as " he's not an expert" in this. read more

This place is a joke! Last week they sent me a letter stating that I owed them $35 or it would be sent to collections. Of course I called the billing department to pay the bill and I read the sentence in their letter saying that it would be forwarded to collections if I didn't pay. I explained that I did not know there was a balance and they refused to speak to me because I said the magic word "collections". I reminded her that I was simply reading the letter they sent to me but she refused to speak to me because I said collections and I will have to deal with them. I asked for managers so I could resolve the issue and I got the run around. I was told that they can't provide managers information information and where they may or may not be located so I can't speak to them. What is this??? the FBI? They have a lot of staff saying who is and isn't around and what they can't say and do and where they may or may not be. No answers!!! They are a complete mess! I have been a patient with Acuity Eye Group for almost 2 years now. Got my glasses and lens through them and several check ups. Always make the payments right after the appointments or when I picked up my lens etc. Today I get a letter from Acuity Eye Group that my account is being placed with collections because I haven't paid the balance of my last appointment. According to them the appointment was in July 2022. I did not go to any appointment with them at that time. According to them they sent a bill in the mail in October 2022. I did not get any bill in mail and besides I always pay right after any appointment and their records show that. According to their own billing department there was no communication to me since October 2022 and now, 9 months later, they send me a letter warning me that my account is being pushed to collections. The bill amount: $30 I call them right away to ask them about this. Their billing department gives me the number of collections and tells me to pay it there. I call the collections agency and they have no record of me anywhere. I call back to the billing department and they let me know that since on the last call I had mentioned the word "collections", they would no longer be able to take my payment and I have to deal with collections. They then go on to say that all calls are recorded and they have proof that I had "mentioned collections". I told them that I have a letter from Acuity Eye Group threatening that my account will be pushed to collections if I don't pay within 10 days of the date of the letter (this is day 7 already when I receive the letter). I read the letter out loud for them. Their response: your account will be pushed to our research team and they will get back to you. At this point I literally asked them the question "you have sent me a letter to pay my bill. I'm calling to pay it right now and you are telling me there is no way I can pay it?" and their answer was that the research team will have to get back to me and they do not have a timeline on how long that takes. This is the most unprofessional business that I have ever dealt with. From the lack of communication to the lack of customer support to try and resolve the issue, this entire thing is ridiculous. And the bill is 30 dollars. I cannot rate this establishment any lower or I would. Will absolutely tell anyone and everyone NOT TO GO HERE read more

Dr. Baghoumian is definitely the best optometrist I've been to. She's been the only one to suggest that dry eyes might be the reason for my less than great vision and suggested I try artificial tears before getting a new prescription. I was having some issues with the tester contact lenses that I was given, so I made an appointment for a slight readjustment. I was helped my Dr. Renia Malek who was so efficient in her expertise. She made sure to understand just what it was that I was experiencing, she worked diligently to find a solution to my discomfort. The staff does not know how to communicate with the patients because they're always babbling amongst themselves. I decided to try contacts for the 1st time. Did my appointment, got my contacts and I thought everything was good(again, never have gotten contacts). I called today to get more and I'm being told they were never finalized and that I had an appointment on the 30th of December. Never knew and no one communicated with me about it.
