I have gone here a handful of times and they've always been helpful...... until now. I have something bothering my eye. Not sure what it is. It's happened before so the doctor looked at it and saw an eyelash and pulled it out no problem. I called since I'm having a similar issue. Now they refuse to help me. Pushed me off on some other doctor and ophthalmologist. I asked if they can just take a look and without being able to give me a reason why, they've decided it will be out of pocket. Completely unhelpful. Looks like I'll be finding a new doctor who wants to help patients, not just push them off on someone else or dismiss them without a consult first. read more

I went to Dr. Hakopian after my regular optometrist wasn't able to give me accurate lenses. The prescription felt so far off that it was giving me headaches & I was seeing blurry. I decided to try Dr. Hakopian and I was so pleased with my overall experience. She was very thorough and spent about 45 minutes with me. She carefully and patiently did an eye exam for me after I expressed I have sensitive eyes and explained every process step by step and went over the results, unlike other doctors I've been to who don't even go over your results with you. She went over my original prescription given by my previous doctor & compared it to the new prescription she was going to give me. She actually showed me on the machine the difference between my old & new prescription & how differently I was seeing between both lenses. She made recommendations to the new lenses she was going to give me & explained why she's going to prescribe those specific numbers & how that would be most beneficial for me. It's been almost 3 months since I've been using these new glasses & they are perfect! Such a major difference from the previous one to this one. No headaches, no blurriness. She doesn't take my insurance so I had to pay out of pocket, but I took a chance anyway and it was worth it!!! Very happy with my first visit with Dr. Hakopian. Great, friendly, thorough optometrist :) Dr. Sara and her staff are so sweet. I even had to take my cranky, baby and they were able to accommodate me during my appointment. I recently moved to the Burbank area and was looking for a new optometrist, and my coworker referred me to Dr Hakopian. Dr. Sara and her staff are very friendly, helpful, and caring. They use the latest technology, and had a very nice selection of glasses. The office is clean and well maintained. The doctor is so knowledgeable, I wear specialty contacts lenses for my high astigmatism and Dr Sara did such a great job and this is the best vision I've been able to get in a really long time. I had a great experience with Dr. Hakopian and her staff. They were genuine, nice, professional and very helpful. Dr. Hakopian took the time to ask about my eyes, answer my questions and listen to concerns. She diagnosed things that others have never diagnosed in the past, and which I had been experiencing for many years. She and her staff were very helpful when I was trying to pick frames. They made it so much easier, as it is usually so hard for me to figure out which frames are good for my face. I wasn't rushed in any way, and felt very comfortable taking my time. I'm so glad I found her, and her office takes my insurance. They have a beautiful office; neat and clean. A great selection of frames, and a parking lot behind the building. They are open every other Saturday, so just ask if you need a Saturday appointment. If you are going to have your pupils dilated and the drops put in them, I would suggest having your appointment when you don't have to return to work or somewhere where you need to see. I experienced extremely blurred vision for 4 hours or so. Plan accordingly. They accept Credit Care credit cards for any difference your insurance doesn't cover. This doctor charged my insurance for a service she did not do for me. I called to order contact lenses and was told I had to wait until May because I've used up my insurance allowance for contact lens purchase. Can't be, I thought, there must be a mistake so I called my insurance VSP and they offered to call the Dr. Hakopian's clinic. VSP said they performed contact lens fitting on me when I was there in May. I said no, she did not. VSP said, well, "she charged your insurance for it and went against your lens allowance". When I spoke to Dr. Hakopian about it, she still is insistent that we did the fitting. What fitting did she do? She didn't give me any sample lenses to try on. She went explaining some nonsense and said the fitting she did was to make sure the lenses I was wearing are fit for my eyes. I wasn't wearing contact lenses at that time. I was wearing glasses that I can easily remove during the exam. I don't wear contacts during an eye exam because it's an eye exam, you're not supposed to be wearing corrective lenses! I can't believe a doctor would charge for something that never happened. Or if she charged at that time, she should have told me and give me some sort of receipt or record. Plus, the fact that she's lying, trying to cover up the cheating, coming up with me wearing contacts, a lie after a lie is just not right. A doctor is someone a patient should be able to trust and this doctor failed. I was supposed to have her check my daughter's (and husband's and sister's) eyes too but I cancelled the appointment. Never again with this doctor. I'm truly disappointed. read more

I'm a new patient of Dr. Hakopian and saw her this past weekend for the first time. The day of my appointment, the receptionist called me and asked me to come in about an hour earlier than my scheduled appointment because they had an opening. It was a Saturday so I was able to come in earlier, even though it was just 2 hours notice. I arrive on time and end up waiting an hour-- so I wasn't seen until the time of my original appointment. The receptionist seemed flustered by this and admitted that she had asked me to come in earlier but didn't realize how late it was. Anyway, I'm seen by Dr. Hakopian, she seems nice and goes through the appointment quickly and answers all of my questions. She was pleasant and seemed very knowledgable. She prescribed a new contact lens prescription for me, and some eye drops for allergies. I go back to reception to check out, order contacts and pay my bill. I leave the office and realize I wasn't given my prescription for the eye drops. I call the office to see if the prescription can be sent to my pharmacy and the receptionist said that it'd be difficult to do, so I go back to the office to pick it up. Even though there are no other patients there, the prescription isn't ready so I have to wait for it. Fast forward several days, I learn this prescription isn't covered by my insurance. My pharmacy has been trying to get ahold of Dr. Hakopian's office for 4 days and hasn't heard back from them. 3 stars because Dr. Hakopian seems like a great optometrist, but -2 stars because her receptionist seems so disorganized that it isn't worth the effort of going to this doctor. I could not be more grateful to have found Dr. Hakopian. She saved my vision. Seriously. I went to her for a routine eye exam and she urged me to see a retinal specialist right away. She explained what she saw, but that a specialist would have to determine the extent of the damage to my retina. She even called me that next week to check in and make sure I had made the appointment. It's obvious that she really, genuinely cares. And it's a good thing she did, because even though I had zero symptoms, I did indeed have a detached retina that required emergency surgery. I never would have known if she hadn't seen it in the scans! (I should also note that another optometrist did NOT see what Dr Hakopian did. But what the specialist saw was in line with what Dr Hakopian showed me on the photos). I honestly cannot thank her enough. read more
