So I had gone to Active Culture earlier this week and was so happy with my Blue Envy Smoothie that I came back for another Blue Envy smoothie. it's really good. Berries, banana, kale, almond milk. You can't taste the kale so it's a good way to sneak in some greens. Only think is it's very thick which I'm okay with but the provide big paper straws tend to disintegrate. I recommend sipping or investing in a metal straw. They have so many smoothies and shakes on their menu. I do want to try others but I like that I can get some greens in with the Blue Envy. Service was...slower than expected. My friend came along and ordered the Date Shake and she loved it. We were hoping to order and get back to the office quickly as lunch break was nearing end. Not really crowded but a coupon orders came out before us. The do have mobile/online ordering so they suggest if you're on a time crunch to order your smoothies shakes ahead. They do server food but I haven't tried it yet, if you're going to be in the area this weekend 4/15 they're having a 15% off promotion. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Such a cute place and so yummy! I was very excited when I learned Active Culture was opening in Long Beach because I've been to their Bend & Laguna Beach locations before. My elderly mother ordered the berry smoothie this past week on Thursday, and swallowed something hard. Then she felt more hard things in her mouth - it turns out this café had ground up a plastic cap that fell in the kitchen or something in her smoothie. She went back to the manager, and it turns out all the manager could offer her was a refund and a brownie. I think what upset us the most, was that the manager barely blinked an eye and didn't even offer us compensation- we had to ASK. SHE SWALLOWED A PIECE OF PLASTIC IN HER SMOOTHIE AND THE MANAGER BARELY FEIGNED AN APOLOGY. Absolutely disgusting. This is a *health hazard* and I hope it never happens to someone you love. Really glad I came in to satisfy a nachos craving and ordered a smoothie to go with it. The plate of nachos were huge. Ate the leftovers for breakfast and there is still enough for one more meal. Very enjoyable. Located at the corner of Seaport Way and Marina Drive. If you park in the parking structure, they are at the opposite end of Whole Foods Market. Free parking for the first 90 minutes. And major cross streets are Marina Drive and 2nd Street. They seem to run quite a few deals. For this month only, you can get 50% off a salad or smoothie with a Whole Foods receipt. There is a photo posted on their Yelp page offering 50% off froyo, acai bowls, draft beer and kombucha on Fridays from 3:00-5:00 pm. The perfect lil healthy breakfast stop after working out at one of the many fitness studios at second and PCH. The portions are super generous and everything always tastes so fresh. My favorite is the breakfast bowl which I usually can only eat half of and then I get a whole other breakfast the next morning (get a side of og sauce too). Highly recommend the chilaquiles as well if you want something a little more hearty. I will say that when it gets busy food preparation times can be a bit slow and I do wish they had a little more sun coverage via umbrellas on their patio but otherwise I love this spot! read more

I recently went on a Friday for half off açaí (also frozen yogurt ) between 3-5 pm and omg it's such an amazing deal , the bowls are gigantic and the protein açaí bowl is stacked with nuts and tons of peanut butter, it is a sorbet type açaí but they use sambozan organic açaí and I get it with no honey. I also got a free bowl from collecting enough points on their app. They were out of gluten free bagels for awhile but recently I've been seeing them back on the app so I hope they keep that up. This would have been a good thing anyway since the 2nd & PCH doesn't have one yet. But not only does it have froyo made with Straus milk, Active Cultures has a wide variety of wholesome bowls and salads to choose from! Some of their menu is featured in pretty writing on the board, but they have an extensive menu to read through by the cashier. We got the Hummus and Quinoa Salad, which was the largest and most beautiful salad I've ever seen in my life. The lemony dressing was light yet flavorful so I didn't feel guilty drenching the whole salad with it. My only complaint is the amount of hummus they give -- it's basically a kids' size ice cream scoop. For almost $20 for this salad, they should think about giving at least another scoop. read more

I was excited to find this place on yelp today and see that they had several vegan options. I ended up sharing the simple salad with an added lentil burger patty, the quinoa lentil bowl (with subbed OG sauce to make it vegan), the butternut squash soup, and the mango soft serve (which is the only plant-based soft serve option). Everything was delicious! I LOVED the butternut squash soup. The lentil patty was also very flavorful and delicious. I really enjoyed the lentil quinoa bowl with the OG sauce, however, they only gave enough sauce for a little less than half the bowl. I was hoping that since this bowl is supposed to come with the sauce that they would give more to finish the serving but they said that more would be $1.50 extra which I find very unfortunate and for me, knocked them from a 5 to a 4 star. The place a cute little place with indoor and outdoor seating facing the beach! They had a jug inside with water and fruits, which was great because we didn't have to keep asking for water but can grab it whenever you wanted. The ambiance was very nice and customer service was great. I got the quinoa lentil bowl and it was so good and refreshing and filling, I couldn't even finish it. The detox smoothie is more like a juice, but very nice. There's seating outside and inside with complimentary water and infused water. You bus your own table which is something I like.
