Came for the Summer Collab with Bordertown. First time trying Ace's as I'm not a fan of Detroit style pizza. But it was very good. Lots of crunchie edges were addicting. It's heavy though still. The hot dog was very good too!
Amazing square pie! One of the best I've ever had! The entire staff were chill and super friendly! They always checked in on us. We definitely would come back!

Fun, loud, and casual, exactly the vibe you want. PIZZA PEPPERONI Packed with crispy cups of roni. The contrast between the crunchy edges and soft, doughy crust is spot-on. RATING: 5/5 VODKA MEATBALL Solid, but overshadowed by the pepperoni. The meatball could use more seasoning and a bit of heat. RATING: 4/5 OVERALL Would absolutely go back. Easy recommendation.
I came here and it was great. My niece wanted to try this place so we came. The service was amazing and the food was very delicious. We ordered two different pizzas, and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were delicious and I recommend them. The pizza, we ordered were the buffalo chicken and the burrata pizza both pizzas were really good. I liked that the dough was airy and had a nice texture. The buffalo chicken pizza had a good amount of chicken and had good flavor. I enjoyed this place very much, and the food was good. I really enjoyed the decor. They also have more than one size pizza which allowed me to taste more one kind of pizza. One of the employees was very nice and came to ask about our experience. He even spoke to my mom in Spanish, which was very kind. Overall it was great, I recommend it to everyone.
Not too many corners have Detroit style pizza in New York and this is the spot to come to. Crust is crunching and soft in the right areas. Came to this place because our meal wasn't the best at another restaurant but this made my night. Only thing I didn't like that night was the door to the bathroom was close to the seating and it would stay open so the smell wasn't pleasant but overall this would be a go to spot this summer!!!!
That's a nice place just to stop by if you are craving some pizza and beer. The service was good and prices are ok. Nothing crazy but still good.
Of all the popular pizza places I've tried in NYC so far, Ace's is my favorite. They have plenty of topping combos, so everyone can find something they enjoy. The standout to me is the dough / crust of the square pizza, in that it is bready and chewy, but light with a nice crisp on the bottom. We tried the grandma pizza (pictured), as well as the pepperoni pie with hot honey and the mushroom pie. All were fantastic, though my favorite was the grandma for the delicious combination of the sauce, basil, and sausage. I'm usually not the biggest fan of pepperoni, but their cup style pieces with hot honey in it were enjoyable! I can't wait to come back and try more toppings. Unlike some of the other frequented spots in Brooklyn, Ace's has a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating! We ordered ahead, so service was efficient. We had changed our mind last minute to try and eat in, but the staff were not able to accomodate the change so we took our food to a nearby outdoor public seating area.
My friend and I came here on a Saturday night around 8:30pm. It was busy, but we only waited about 5 minutes for a table. I had the pepper trio pizza, which was topped with pickled jalapeños, green bell peppers, and sweet cherry peppers). It was sweet and a little spicy. Very delicious (and filling!).
I loved this place! Fun, funky vibe, no pretense, and GREAT pizza. I would call the pizza 'Detroit style'. - rectangular and closer to a deep dish pizza as opposed to thin crust. However, it was very light and flaky - not heavy and dense. Perfectly cooked - lots of yummy crusty cheese. Great sauce and flavoring, too!
Absolutely loved the food. The white pizza was incredible. Loved the flavor and the crunch cheese crust was amazing. The chicken wings were also pretty good as well. Would definitely recommend.
The last thing on our Summer To-Do list was to eat at Ace's pizza! We made that dream come true on Saturday at 5pm. Made a reservation in case it became busy, but not sure we needed to. People are super friendly with a great vibe. Love the feeling of visiting my neighbor's basement in 1989. Our server recommended the wings and Greek Salad - went with a small one. Very much nostalgic vibes of a salad from the midwest. If you like that sort of thing, then delicious! She (server) strongly recommended the spicy boiiiii (correct spelling according to the check) with vodka sauce, which we had on a medium split with buffalo chicken. She was right - we should have done the whole thing as that one. Buffalo chicken was good, but oddly, felt a little too healthy. (Maybe it was the celery.) Ordered a medium pepperoni for the kids. It had hot honey on it, which we didn't order or want, but luckily the kids only complained a little. Interesting note, when the server looked at our food, she was surprised to see basil leaves on the spicy boiiii! I kind of like the "who knows what you're going to get" situation out of my neighbor's basement food. (Reminds me of Seinfeld with the rubber band in the soup - PACO!) A note on quantity - we could probably have eaten another 2 medium pizzas, because they feel light and airy. But once we settled, 2 mediums and a salad was fine for our family of 5 (kids 10,7,2) We (not kids) shared a draft hazy IPA (Lagunitas), which was tasty. Another interesting thing to share, which has no bearing on anything, was that the level of condensation on our water cups was off the charts. The table was covered in water, and I went through a lot of napkins. No idea why! Overall, had a great time! We would definitely go back.
This was some of the best Detroit style pizza I've ever had. We had two medium pizzas - I tried one that was half spinach artichoke and half veggie garden. The other was half cheeseburger and half Hawaiian. The crust was crispy, airy, and buttery, without being too overwhelming. The red sauce had a touch of sweetness, and the cream sauce was rich without being too much so. I enjoyed the range of toppings available. A side of Calabrian chili pesto also helped add some variety as well. My friends enjoyed the other pizza, with a special nod to the cheeseburger. The two pizzas were enough for three of us. The bill came to about $27 each ($81 total) with tax and tip, which was totally worth it.

I ordered for pick up on the phone maybe a year ago and honestly didn't have a pleasant experience with the staff member or the pizza I got. It made me very skeptical to go back. Yesterday, I decided to give it a shot and was very pleasantly surprised. Everything was delicious and came out hot and fresh. Staff were very nice and attentive. It's a very chill spot with a bar and a couple arcade games kind of like a divey bar but with great food! The food also came out very quick. The amount of food was perfect for two people and with that price?? Yeah almost impossible to find especially in this neighborhood. IMO, one of the best pizzas in the neighborhood. 10/10 recommended! read more

I brought a friend here and they kept mentioning how much they loved the New York feel and vibes to this place. The pizza's we got (Hawaiian and white pizza) were sooo freaking good. I'm usually not a Hawaiian fan and this one made me a very big fan. Service was fast and friendly, such a great place! Ace's pizza is my favorite slice in New York City. I've had their satellite spicy boy at the bottom of Rockefeller, so I had to visit the real thing. This location is great. It's sit down so expect to pay tip. Our service was nice. I like all the retro, VHS tapes and video game systems plugged into TVs and arcade games. we got the spicy boy on the secret menu. It taste so good. The pepperonis are perfectly crunchy. The spicy sauce is delectable with a good kick. The crust is what always gets me. It feels like cheese is melted into the crust. Best slice in the city! We got a personal slice for $14. read more

Ace's Pizza is spectacular. I was meeting up with a friend in Williamsburg, and stopping here was one of the best decisions I've ever made. This is one of the best slices in New York, and I've had a ton of pizza in the City. I ordered a personal meat lovers, which was plenty of food. The pepperoni and sausage were very flavorful, and the crust was deliciously crispy. I had great service at the bar, and the pizza came out quickly. Super cute spot! Very chill vibes that gives that's old school feel. The pizza is square pies/Detroit style pizza vs NY pies. I personally prefer NY style with a thinner crust, but the flavor was pretty good! It was more cheesy bread to me since the crust has cheese baked in on the edges. Really tasty! We shared the white slice that had cold mozzarella on top with honey and then also the hot burrata which was a red sauce really flavorful. Service was ok, it's a pizza place so very relaxed. Food (5/5) - Crust was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, reheated well. Pepperoni is the thick, cupping type, which I love. Would recommend getting the hot burrata on its own pie so you could really spread it out. Lived up to the hype, as it came highly recommended. Service / Ambiance (5/5) - We were seated quickly on a nice Saturday out, only ordered a pizza for 6 and they let us sit for as long as we'd like. Were also very prompt and welcoming. Walls are lined with board games and retro paraphernalia, including a CRT tv! Tablecloths are the red checkered ones. Everything was in theme. Price (4/5) - Fair for pizza of this quality. They actually got our order wrong and gave us 2 medium pies instead. We'd count ourselves lucky. read more

Ace's Pizza is a Detroit-style pizzeria that opened in Brooklyn, New York in February 2021. It was founded by chef Matthew Etchemendy. The talented chef had previously owned the NYC restaurant/bar The Headless Horseman as well as its sister establishment Ichabod's (both in Union Square). By 2019, Etchemendy longed to open a pizzeria that paid tribute to the pizzerias of his childhood. He had grown up in the 1980s when it was a ritual to go to a place like Pizza Hut, sit at the booths, and order pies and pitchers of soda to the table. After experimenting with doughs and pizza combos in his kitchens, he made the jump to open a new pizzeria location in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. The nostalgic pizzeria focuses on Detroit-style pizza pies as well as wings and salads. I recently visited Ace's Pizza while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn breweries and pizzerias and this was my third stop of the day. Although the pizzeria is relatively new, I had heard nothing but great things. I was very surprised when I walked in. The pizzeria had a super-retro vibe; I felt like I had stepped back in time to a pizzeria from the '70s or '80s. There were vinyl booths, an N64, a vintage arcade cabinet, and all sorts of crazy pictures and kitsch on the walls. After looking over the menu, I ordered a personal size of the "Hot Burrata" (Ace's special cheese blend, tomato sauce, creamy burrata, Calabrian chili and basil). When it was served to me, the dough was covered from edge to edge with a caramelized cheesy, crunchy crust. I may come from the land of New Haven-style thin crust pizza, but Ace's Detroit-style pizza was totally delicious! I enjoyed it so much that I immediately ordered a second. This time I ordered a personal "Vodka Meatball" (homemade meatballs, vodka sauce, fresh mozzarella and ricotta). Like the previous pie, it was so good! I had quite a memorable experience at Ace's and I'd love to return with my family! read more
I recently came to Ace's Pizza while hanging out in the Williamsburg area. I have been dying to try their Detroit Style Pizza for a long time. I never had this style of pizza before, so I was very excited. I came on a Saturday afternoon and was able to get a seat with no problems. I ordered 3 different styles of their personal pies. I went with the classic cheese, vodka meatball, and buffalo chicken. I must say that all 3 of these choices were excellent. I really enjoyed this pizza. I loved the cheese crisp that were on the edges of each slices. That was my favorite part. The winner here for me was the classic cheese. This was my favorite from them all. It was super light, nice and crispy, and flavorful. But I enjoyed the buffalo one and vodka one, too. Overall, this pizza was outstanding, and I'd love to come back again to try some more options. Wasn't bad Pizza I'm just not the largest fan of Detroit style pizza but it was good. I went with some other people and they all really enjoyed it we also got the garlic cheese sticks and they were very very cheesy. Service was quick and the waiter was very friendly and nice, they have some outdoor street seating like many places in nyc have and it was a good place. Definitely would go again and maybe just get a cheese pizza instead Pizzas we got - pepper trio (half)! - vegan (basil, sauce and cheese so basically a margarita ( half) The inside was clean and nice though we did sit outside. read more

holy nostalgia! felt like a kid again as soon as i stepped into this place. we quickly decided on the following to try: -hot burrata (media) pizza: great sauce, loved the crispy cheese on the edges, and the calabrian sauce packed a punch. whoo! definitely not for those who can't take the heat. the crust was airy and crispy. absolutely delightful! -garlic breadsticks: i believe they used the same dough as the pizza? airy and crispy again and i loved the marinara sauce. -meatballs: big and hefty, tho i did think the meatballs were a little too firm and not as tender as i'd like. okay on the seasoning too. service was prompt and i really enjoyed my meal (and looked forward to my leftover pizza!). will return if i'm in the area! read more
There is someone so very special about this Detroit style pizza joint! The pizza is so flavorful and unique. I simply love the cheeseburger pizza, which is a sentence I never thought I'd say! Came here on a late Saturday afternoon for a snack, without realizing that they don't really have a "snack" option. The smallest size is their personal portion, which is still two pretty hefty slices. Freshly made though, so still super hot and fresh! I got the hot burrata, and it was really good. Pepperonis were cooked to perfection, super crispy and crunch. The burrata provided pops of freshness and creaminess, and the calabrian chili really stood out, with its extreme amounts of flavor. The dough itself was also great, as it was super fluffy and light, with a good crisp around the edges. The only thing that was a bit weird to me was that the bottom of the slices weren't very crispy at all, and I was expecting that with how well crisped the edges were. This made the middle bites a bit homogeneous in terms of texture. Overall, still really solid. Will definitely be back to try a full pie! read more

Pizza was a SLAY...ALL DAY. I'm from the 313 so I know Detroit pizza and Ace's didn't disappoint. The crust had a perfect crisp, just the right amount of cheese and that hot honey on the Spicy Boy was just delectable. The wings were also top tier. I really really enjoyed the Nashville hot wings , mainly bc the spice was on point. We also partook in the Caesar salad and it's a perfect palate cleanser but nothing special. I was also most pleased by the nostalgic vibe of this place. They have games like Connect Four, Operation and many more as "decor" additions. Not to mention my favorite Batman movie "Batman Returns" playing on a VHS television in the corner. Ill be back to get a large Spicy Boy for myself hahahaha no sharing. read more

I always like to wait until I have visited a place a few times before I leave a review. I have dined in and ordered delivery and each time is a great experience. My most recent order was last night Saturday 2/1/25. We ordered a large cheeseburger pizza and the Carolina gold chicken wings. Those are my favorite items on the menu. The burrata pizza and meatball vodka are amazing as well. The service is always chill and pleasant even when it can be very busy. Ambiance gives me 90s bar/pizza vibes. Run, don't walk to Ace's. I'm not even a pizza person and this was AMAZING. Shared a large half cheeseburger half pepperoni pizza, and a small white. SO FREAKING GOOD. Loved the white pizza. Get a side of honey to drizzle on it. You won't be sorry. Pizza took a while to come out but it's 100% worth the wait. Inside is so cool. Retro. This pizzeria is a casual dine-in style joint. Pizzas are made to order so no display case of pizza. The pizza I ordered was clearly not meant to be eaten without a knife and fork. It was messy, sticky and had a soft soggy crust. I found the peppers to be too sweet for my liking, but i did like the jalapeños. If it weren't for the pie being so soggy, I'd come back to try the other pizzas. read more

Outside sitting is nice and comfy, with fans above you. servant was actually shit, guy loooked like he didn't want to be there or fried? yet alone the need to call them over was a hassle. We ordered a cheese medium pie and 8 pc wings (buffalo). 6/10 for the cheese pizza and 3/10 for the wings... carrot and celery are thinned to the max and very hard to bite into. * didn't take pic of pie cause we ate it dowwnnn cause we have a spa booked within the hours and wanted a quick bite. read more

And further, Ace's isn't a slice shop; rather, they exclusively offer full pies (although their "Personal" pizzas are roughly equivalent in portion to 2 NY slices). The Williamsburg location is recognizable by its mustard-yellow and ketchup-red sign, featuring cartoon spades. Indoors, the retro vibes immediately capture the essence of Grandma's house. Sepia tones dominate the space, from the yellow-tan finishes of the high wooden walls to the intentionally tacky furniture, including an off-white family fridge, an antique rocking chair, and a Sprite wall clock. A short scarlet bar runs along the left wall, while muted-brown 2-seater leather booths line the right. The offbeat wall art is loosely related to either pizza or a deck of cards. Old-school pop hums in the background. I arrived for weekday lunch with my heart set on a Pepperoni pie, and I was the only patron around. I was poured a glass of water before I even picked my booth, and my pizza was baked fresh remarkably quickly. Fresh from the oven and piping hot, gooey areas of cheese nearly slipped as I tried to take a bite. The thick, oily crust with crunchy cheese along the edges, reminded me of garlic cheese bread. Thinly-sliced mini pepperoni cups were generously, albeit haphazardly, strewn across the surface, some crisp and others still floppy. The red sauce was pleasant, although I would have preferred slightly more savory or tangy flavors. I've had better Detroit-style pizza before, but none that has been offered in a personal-sized portion. Further, Ace's remained remarkably affordable at ~$10. For a solo diner looking for a change of pace from standard NY-style slices, or anyone ambitious enough to venture into the world of Midwest-style 'zza, Ace's is sure to fit the bill. read more
Ace's Pizza is bomb! Love their pizzas - one of my favorite Detroit style pizzas in the city. Crispy, oily crust with loads of toppings and cheesy goodness. And as @Louis D. mentioned, their wings are absolutely amazing - so incredibly crispy and juicy! The setting is great - 80s/90s feel with old school video games and VHS tapes. Service is excellent - everyone is so friendly, and all their recommendations regarding food did not miss. Definitely coming back - just wish it weren't so far away! Ace's Pizza filled me with both joy and nostalgia. These Two things because of the amazingly delicious Detroit style pizza, being taken back to the 80s and 90s time period with all the decor, games. Without realizing you were transported to 25-30 years in time, Aces Brooklyn gives you a reminder of your childhood spent in retro pizza restaurant setting with plaid table covers, but keeps you grounded with a lively playlist mixing some old and some new. This pizza was heaven sent. God himself smiled on it. Friends, Don't sleep on Detroit style. We started with a garlic cheesy bread which I was told was our reason for being there and shared that between 4 of us. Such crisp edges, delicious flavor and moisture balanced between the cheese and sauce. A personal pizza was the perfect size. It's like having two big square pieces to yourself or you can easily cut further and share. All served in rectangles with square cuts. I believe pizza is even better when cut up in squares. That's my philosophy. The awesome thing about it is you won't feel too heavy after eating it. You would think that's the case! It's not dense but filling enough to leave you content. The price was refreshing for NY dining. None of us spent over $12! So happy my friends brought us here during my visit! I'd go back in a heartbeat while in Brooklyn.
