Been here many times before, but looks like a new person is here to mange it now. This is the exact conversation this morning. 2 guys managing the store this morning a young guy and an older guy. Me: where can I buy the paint remover ? Young guy: here you go Me: great, does it have a sprayer attached ? Young guy: yes it does. Me: thanks, I will buy it (it was like $10) Me: how much is this grill? Older guy: (annoyed) do you want to buy it? Me: I don't even know how much it costs or how it functions. Just checking I go to my car, find out, there is no spray so I come back to check/exchange Me: sir, it doesn't seem to have a sprayer Older: what do you want ?? Me: explained Older: I don't know what you mean. You have already opened it now. You should have seen it doesn't ..... (Walks to the aisle) Me: I understand English. I did not open it, but no problem I will keep it Older: here is the one, take it and leave Me: it's ok. I just wanted to check, I will keep what I have but you don't have to be rude. It's only a few bucks. Not sure if this was racial profiling or just a rough start of the day. Please stay away from this one. read more

Wow! Two of my halogen light fixtures haven't worked for a few years. I'd stick in a pronged light, hit the switch. Nothing. Thought I would have to call an electrician. One of the owners at Ace suggested an LCD light with the prongs. She said it would burn less hot, use less energy. It worked! I know this sounds odd, but having a bright kitchen that uses less energy is very cheery. You cannot get the blues when your kitchen is bright. Now I'm going to ask them about my faulty under counter lights, paper coming apart on the ceiling from a leaking refrigerator ice hose, and a hole in my son's wall where he ripped out a shelf. This wonderful store will turn me into Rosy the Riveter! Thanks to them. read more

This hardware store is the best. Well stocked, clean and helpful personnel. I don't have time to aimlessly wonder thru Home Depot looking for an item or someone to help me. Ace has 98% of what I need without the frustration and time drain. Good prices and discounts. read more

I love Ace Hardware stores. And this store is no exception. I'm always amazed at how much stuff they can fit into this small store. And they seem to have everything. (Obviously they're not going to have large pieces of lumber like big box stores. But you know what I mean.) I find the employees very helpful and friendly. They know where everything is. I try to give them my business whenever I can. (Just went there today in fact.) Next time you need anything at all, give them a try. They probably have it. read more

I love this place. The customer service is great, if you ask if they have something they will take you to where it is. I'm also always surprised at how much they have, they really pack a lot of inventory in a fairly small store. Called to ask if they had an M10 x 1.0 mm hex nut. He was too lazy to go look and told me to drive over. Of course I wasted 20 minutes for nothing. Called Los Gatos Ace and they checked for me and have it. Will not come to this store unless I know it something simple and they are close. A simple walk of 15 ft.would ha gotten a decent review. read more

Recently purchased a ratchet and socket and didn't end up using it, purchased it in walnut creek and walked in to return it at the new Saratoga store, I guess since its franchise they wouldn't take the return, called the walnut creek store and was told that if its an item carried in the store they take returns from all ace stores, to the guy who didn't bother even checking what I was returning on his computer thanks for the hassle and poor service. Won't be shopping here anytime soon. read more

I am So happy to have this little hardware store here, it's saved me from going all the way to Home Depot about 10 times now - it's very small and compact but each time I go in doubting they will actually have what I seek - they do! And the guys are So helpful and nice. Very knowledgeable too. Many big hardware stores your wander around looking for anybody that works there and they are almost always busy or don't know a thing about anything. Give this place a try! read more

I went in today with my twin 2-year-old daughters to look at their baby chicks and buy a few things. They loved it, although I had to lift them to see chicks, see below. Anyways the 5-star review is because they're so attentive and friendly. One of my kids picked up, dropped, and broke a candle in a glass jar that was near the chicks, and immediately staff was there to help clean it up, and they wouldnt even let me pay for it when i checked out. One complaint - baby chicks are in the bottom of a coop they sell (in the run) but its set like 5' high so kids cant see..... if anyone from this ace is reading, you should put it lower so kids can see!! The slighty older chick cage was at a better height. We'll be back soon. read more

I am thrilled with the new ACE hardware shop in Saratoga! I've been twice now and each time when I enter I am greeted authentically with "how can I help you", they mean it. The employees are kind, helpful and simply wanting to find whatever it is you need. Believe me, they have whatever it is you need! The store is stocked from top to bottom. Highly recommend this store. Forget Home Depot, Kelly Moore and OSH! It's so easy and just a much more pleasant experience. It's like shopping in the 1950's where the store keepers actually care about the customer. Way to go ACE!!! read more

Saratoga Ace Hardware store is a very welcome addition to my neighborhood Argonaut Place shopping area. When I first noticed the new store. I thought, "with such small square footage (the old BlockBuster Video store), I bet I'll never be able to find what I need." Well, I was surprised and pleased when I walked in and saw the HUGE array of products. The two people on staff at that time where extremely helpful and knowledgable. Knowing your stock and understanding how to use it are two very important qualities in hardware store personnel... something lacking in most of the big box home improvement stores. I took off a star only because of their hours. If I need something after 7pm I'll have to trek on over to you know where, ugh! :-) read more

Very good experience in Saratoga's Ace Hardware today. I went in for a set of Allen keys and they had a number of options with competitive prices - including a combined Imperial and Metric set which is what I was looking for. So I was able to complete my shopping trip in about a quarter of the time it would have taken to drive to and find the relevant item at Home Depot. As a considerable bonus, I asked on the off chance if they had a mesh bag for putting in the washing machine - and, lo, they had them in two sizes! Particular kudos to Remus for manning the store single-handed and dealing with three customers with questions at the same time with such efficiency and energy. read more

Having visited the Saratoga Ace Hardware quite a few times in the last several months I feel rather comfortable giving it a 5-star rating. The staff members that I have interacted with have been very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. One of the main reasons for a customer to go to a neighborhood store, not an online store, is the human interactions. I think Saratoga Ace Hardware has done an outstanding job here. Even though the store does not look big they carry a large variety of items -- 6,500, according to their website. So far they have not disappointed me whether I am looking for a metric nut or a high voltage fuse. The staff has been always able to help me locate what I am looking for. Another attraction is that their prices are competitive as compared to the online stores or the big brick-and-mortar stores such as Home Depot. I live in their neighborhood, so it is convenient for me to go to this store. read more
