This was the place my designer recommended and the lady I worked with here was super difficult to work with - tough to schedule time, could/would not pull together a price list. I got the impression they'o too snooty to work with people who don't have unlimited budgets. I will say the gentleman who sits closest to the stairs is super sweet and helpful, maybe I should have worked with him instead. Anyway, I landed up driving down the street to Saratoga Plumbing. Great store. Fantastic selection. My wife went there to see their door handle and lock for our double door. Chris spent a considerable amount of time with my wife and they selected what she liked. We went back there together with my wife to put in the order and it took a couple of weeks for the items to arrive. Very happy with the experience overall and will do business with them again. And oh the price of the door handles ( double door, one side is functional and the other side is dummy side ) were the same as what I found on Amazon. Belmont Hardware is my go-to place to drawer pull and door hardware. Everyone I have met there is knowledgeable and very helpful, but I want to mention David Nakamoto in particular because he helped me find perfect drawer pulls for a bathroom and bedroom remodel. I simply showed him photos of these rooms and he simply walked me over to the displays with specific hardware that he thought would work. I still looked through all displays, but David's initial suggestions were the perfect parts. David is also helped me to get a screw for one of the products I purchased. There are a few nice people in store, but as a customer who's ordered quite literally thousands of dollars worth of hardware, I'll tell you that even that isn't enough not to get hung up on. Essentially, they deliver or not deliver and are unapologetic in the event they don't. I really wouldn't trust this vendor in the event you want timely, consistent service. Heading into the holiday season with quite literally, no pulls on our fridge despite weeks of advance preparation and time allocated; and not even a proper explanation, apology or attempt to help. So disappointed. Belmont is in business because it's somewhat a monopoly when it comes to hardware vendors. Why is this store appointment only? I just want to go in and look at some wall hooks. I really don't feel like I need (or want) personal attention while I browse. I just want to see what's there and think about what will look good on my wall. I used to be able to walk in and they did have a huge selection of wall hooks, drawer pulls, etc which was great. But I want to be able to stop in when I'm in the neighborhood rather than fighting traffic to hit an arbitrary appointment time. They've made it so complicated, I'd rather just buy a hook on Amazon, which is too bad because I really prefer to shop local and see items in person before purchasing. Wow, this company has beautiful hardware and plumbing products, but double wow - they're very unwelcoming. A whole store full of staff and no one would greet us. When we looked at one specific product, of course, we were immediately told we couldn't find it anywhere else but their store. You could be there for hours looking at the hundreds, thousands of products they have but they don't allow their customers use the restroom. Walking out, no one tried to stop us. Extremely rude lady in the store. She was rude over the phone. Gave her a benefit of doubt and showed up at the door at the appointment time. Temperature is 90+ degrees outside. Due to the CoVID rules, doors were locked and there were instructions to knock at the door. This lady was sitting right in front of the door starting at her computer. There are almost no customers in the store. I knocked at the door a couple of times. She doesn't acknowledge. A third knock, she looks at me and mumbles something I really can't hear through the glass door. I knock again and now she marches towards the door as if she is going to assault me. She opens the door and rudely yells that someone will be with me shortly. She turns around shuts off the door and walks away. She is beyond rude. Of course, we just walked away. Looking back at the previous reviews of people complaining about rude customer service, I'm beginning to suspect that they may be racist as well. I was looking for a specialty handle set for a thick exterior door. In store staff recommended I email one of their office staff for help. I got one brief response, asking me to clarify the offset, and then, silence. I was able to find an on-line retailer to help me out. If there was an option to give a zero star, I would have. Customer service does not exist here, and on top of that, the quality of their products is sub-standard. They messed up our order, missing items, wrong items, sub-quality leaky items. Stay away from a lady called Michelle Carcot at this store. When we called at the time of installation of trim, after spending good 2 hours looking for missing items, instead of acknowledging she messed up the order, she went on to accuse our plumber that he did not install the drain assembly that we purchased. She took a condescending, discriminatory, and racist tone and said " the plumber installed a $99 drain assembly from Home Depot." I myself handed over the drain assembly that was given to us by her to the plumber and he installed it in front of me. The whole shower is standing as an eye sore on which we spent $$$$$. A $4000 faucet came with a leaky brass part. The thermostatic valve came without the required screws. The shower drain assembly and the drain cover do not match. A faucet connector trim is missing. You will find beautiful hardware at many other stores in the area. Don't waste your time and money here. read more

We originally purchased our fixtures about 20 years ago. Recently, our kitchen faucet developed a pretty big problem. I took lots of pictures and then went to Belmont to see if they could help. Dave Nakamoto was a pleasure to work with. He has been doing this for quite a while so he has a ton of experience and knowledge about all things fixture related. Just got off the phone and the lady was very rude. I was on my way there to do a color match. I knew the style and lengths of hardware I wanted, just need to bring in my faucet to match the finish so I can order. I called 30min before closing and asked if they are willing to stay open for a few min for me to finish my choosing. Lady on the phone rudely said, "I cannot guarantee it. I don't know what people got going after work. Our door closes AT 5! We ARE open tomorrow!" It's fine if you are not willing to stay open for a few min more after closing, I respect that. The same message can deliver very different like, "Thank you for calling. Unfortunately we cannot stay open if you arrive at or after 5. We open tomorrow from 10am-4pm. We would love for you to come in tomorrow." I understand everyone wants to go home on a Friday evening but a little compassion and customer service doesn't cost you a thing. read more

What a horrible business! Here's why: After being unable for weeks to have anyone pick up their phone, I stopped by. There was a sign saying the door is locked and to call for an appointment. Yeah, sure. I looked through their glass door and saw that there were two salesladies at their desks and perhaps one customer, so I knocked lightly on the door, hoping to get the attention of one of the ladies at her desk. She ignored me for a few minutes but finally deigned to get up and come to the door. "Do you have an appointment?" No, I just wanted to purchase 3 drawer pulls. "Appointment ONLY," she said. "Call and make an appointment." But you don't answer the phone! "Then email." Well, I'm here now, I pled, and only need to buy 3 door pulls. Can I please just come in and quickly look for what I need? "No, you can't. There's another customer already here." Ok, I'll just have to go across the street to Home Depot. "You do that." Dear Belmont Hardware, we will remember your rudeness and I won't be back unless it is to peruse your overpriced products then purposely purchase or order elsewhere. Amazon and HomeDepot and others are always respectful of their customers and at least pretend to like them. I don't think you'll be in business too much longer. Ok, so I understand the appointment only rule when we were in full pandemic mode. I recently stopped by with my wife since Covid restrictions have been lifted and we and noticed they still require appointments. The door was locked and staff were inside with no other customers in sight and they completely ignored us and acted like we were not even there. If only these people knew the significant hardware budget I'm working with on my project. So stupid me tried to call the number while they were looking at us and somebody answered and it would be a week or so until they could accommodate and were not at all friendly about it. Am I trying to get in some exclusive nightclub here? I have tried hard to support local business but this company is missing the mark completely. They say they keep their doors locked and only have limited appointments to keep their service at a high level. Really? How did they ever do business before the pandemic then? Our 18 year old Baldwin deadbolt had become really difficult to open over the past 2 weeks so we were dreading having to buy a new deadbolt. I visited Belmont Hardware in San Jose and both Diann and David stopped what they were doing and fixed our deadbolt. David basically rebuilt it with new pins and springs. After he fixed it, it was like new again. He didn't stop there; he was very thorough and then gave me the details to call Baldwin if I needed a new core. He said Baldwin has great customer service and they would send it to me free of charge. I asked if I could pay him, but he said "no, just have a great day." One star is just for the fact that they have a good selection of product. Service, however, is just one star. I have been there several times during the pandemic. Even with an appointment, I was usually kept waiting at the locked front door. Attention during the visits was inconsistent; sometimes helpful and other times dismissive. For follow-up information, I have sent emails and left voice mails that were unanswered after several days. I believe they were open on Saturday before the pandemic. Contrary to many other reviewers, I had a very positive experience with Belmont Hardware. Their cabinet hardware selection is enormous. I requested an appointment through their website, got a prompt response the next business day, and scheduled an appointment. Upon arrival we called to be let in (as instructed on the door), we were asked to hand sanitize immediately upon entering, and when we described the style of cabinet hardware we were looking for and our timeline, we were quickly pointed in the right direction. We were helped by Cathy, who was knowledgeable and provided all the advice we were seeking while also giving us the space to discuss on our own. She was also very transparent about product availability and lead times, which we appreciated. For the style we were looking for, Belmont Hardware's prices seemed comparable to products online, and we preferred to purchase items we could view in person to judge the quality. Once we returned home and made a decision we emailed Cathy, she responded within a day, got our order placed, and since it was in stock our order was ready for pickup within a couple days. I seriously have no complaints. They were responsive to calls and emails, communication was efficient, and they took proper safety precautions (important for a store where customers are expected to touch all the products they're browsing). read more

I had a problem with my front door lock, made by Baldwin, installed approximately 30 years ago, The inside knob would often come loose. I had called a locksmith who showed me the part that had worn out threads on it and suggested I go to Belmont Hardware to order a replacement. Daniel Powell and David Nakamoto at Belmont Hardware were incredibly professional and helpful. David is unbelievably knowledgeable. And what's more, he did a lot of work to find me the most cost-effective solution. Replacement parts for the lock that I had are no longer being manufactured. But David came up with an ingenious solution and ordered a part for me that would take only a minor tweak to fit inside my old lock. I'm not very handy in these matters and David patiently explained to me step-by-step how to install the new part. The new part got delivered on time and I got it installed and the problem got solved for good. I'm still in awe of David's expertise, professionalism, patience and, above all, putting my interests as a customer as the top priority. I can't thank David enough! read more

This is THE place to go to look for cabinet or appliance pulls or knobs. There really is no comparison to the selection you'd find at Home Depot or Lowe's. It's a cabinet hardware heaven. We recently special ordered two 30" appliance pulls for a refrigerator/freezer. We did not find that size anywhere else, and yet Belmont had this size available for order and an smaller, but otherwise identical pull we could see if we liked before ordering. On 12/10/14, we ordered and paid in full two Baldwin front door handles from David Nakamoto. When ordered David said that they are in stock with Baldwin and would take 3 weeks for them to get them. At the time of purchase, we explained to David that our new front door were being installed by Wholesale Windows on 1/7/15 and that they will need the specs for the locks that we ordered. David emailed us and Wholesale windows the specs and links to the locks, so that the new front doors could be fabricated correctly with the new door locks. Yesterday, 1/5, we called to see why we had not received a call about our new locks and were given a sorry excuse about the UPS TRUCK BREAKING DOWN. UPS is a huge company and when a truck breaks down, they have replacements. David said that he would call is the next day at 9am with an update. At this point I offered to go pick them up from UPS, which they stated could not be done. No phone call at 9am, so at 930 I called only to be told the UPS TRUCK IS STILL BROKEN DOWN and there is no update. Really, blame it on UPS when in reality its your ordering. Did you over-promise the locks because given the 3 week quote they should have been sitting at the store. Now we have paid for our new doors to be fabricated with the locks that I ordered and communicated every detail to Belmont Hardware. So this is going to cost me a lot of money in delays, but they do not seem to care. read more

Great store to buy the exact hardware you want. If you are the kind of person who looks at a piece and says "wow that would be great if it were 1/4" longer and had one more accent line along the right side" this is the place for you. They seem to have an infinite number of variations on each theme. Like that drawer pull but need it slightly wider? Check! That faucet is good but you need one slightly shorter and in a different finish? Here's the right size and the finish to match. Staff is super helpful but not pushy. None of the merchandise is inexpensive, but if you're looking for something that will be "ok" then go to the Home Depot across the street. But when it has to be perfect, this is the place. read more

Went there twice to look for interior door levers. Both times experienced very poor, almost outright rude, customer service. I don't know if the man is just an unhappy person, bored out of his mind, or would only show interest to certain customers. He was visibly impatient with my questions (I only asked 2!l). When I asked about pricing of certain items, he gave a range. I asked if he has something below this price range, he looked at me and said ' there is nothing in this building is below that.." Which is a lie because I asked about another item which was far less expensive. Belmont Hardware obviously doesn't care to have your business and doesn't have the time to work with you on your project.
