I swear it was 6$ per when I was there two weeks prior, and the thing is they're no listed prices. This place is a gem. So unassuming from the outside, this place is a secret that I wish I had known about earlier. Extremely affordable with a massive menu and even bigger portions. The torta and the burrito were both spectacular and after tax/tip less than Chipotle for a sit down meal. Everything looked great and I will be returning soon! There are a lot of artists, fabricators, and small businesses located in the giant industrial building on the very top of Manhattan ave in greenpoint. It's situated so far north Acapulco was really the closest place to get a hearty meal. Open for breakfast lunch dinner and pre covid late night they serve delicious consistent food, no frills. Great classic diner vibes. They also offer classic western breakfast items for patrons who may want a traditional American breakfast but they also have Mexican breakfast options. At some point when I worked around there I probably went to Acapulco nearly every day. For the price of lunch I would walk out with dinner as well as leftovers- portions are mighty generous. So walk over to a fridge, grab a beer, let them give you a chilled little stein and decompress during a long day. read more

I live around the corner from here. Today I ordered off the online menu and went to pick up my food. They charged me a lot more than what was detailed in their online and print menu. When I asked about the pricing, the girl at the counter resisted at first explaining what the prices for each item was. She came off short and rude when I just needed clarification, because I was confused. It felt like I was scammed. I'm so tired of these local shops pulling scummy moves like this. I wanted to like this place more than I did, since I had heard really great things. Came here with a couple friends and ordered takeout. Started off with some carrot jugo and papaya shake and they were both very good and reasonably priced (4.5/5). We then got the Mexican omelette (3.5/5) and shrimps in spicy sauce (3.6/5). The Mexican omelette was pretty average, and the shrimps platter came with 6-7 big shrimps and the rest was beans/rice/salad. The portions were quite large though. Amazing eats for dirt cheap? Yes, please! Acapulco is your typical local hole-in-the-wall joint with food so good you don't care about the scenery. I came here 3+ times on my four day business trip because my colleague and I couldn't get enough of the amazing tacos here. I had the chicken, then the steak, and then the chicken again, because it was delicious enough to repeat the same meal three times in a row. Tacos were authentic (I.e. - corn tortillas instead of flour), super filling, and super affordable - I was amazed that I only spent $6.50 for a made-to-order lunch in Greenpoint. Definitely a recommended stop to get real Mexican food - they have an extensive menu, and although I didn't try much besides the tacos, I'm sure if the rest of the menu tastes anything like them, you won't be disappointed! read more

Everything was absolutely delicious! We ordered for pick-up and it was ready in about 15 minutes. Walking in, we just knew it was gonna be great! We ordered: Shrimp Burrito, Shrimp Fajita (comes with guacamole and tortillas), Chips and Guacamole, and House Salad. While waiting to process the payment, we caught a few minutes of a show playing on Univision. The food smelled so amazing and very flavorful. The burrito had broccoli and carrots which was unexpected but delicious. We ordered a bit too much for two people but I look forward to the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I highly recommend Acapulco! Excellent Mexican restaurant with large portions and affordable prices. I don't know if they offer margaritas, I only saw cooler drinks including several varieties of Mexican beer. We split a side of guacamole with chips among 3 of us and each ordered an entree. We got so much of everything that we took some of the guac home, and each took half of our entrees home too! The guacamole is actually some of the best I've ever tasted, and the steak fajitas I got were so tasty and perfectly charred. I love to get a steak burrito with guacamole that's big enough to easily feed myself and my partner. It's my go to takeout place. It's hard to find legit Mexican food. I'm lucky I'm in Bushwick and there's a couple good spots. But a friend told me about Acapulco and I knew I had to try it. The place looks like a deli from the outside corner spot. The set up is like an old school diner, there's a counter and a couple tables and chairs. There are certain time the counter is the best and it's diners, cocktail spots, dive bars and this little spot. There's a couple seats and one had my name on it. I sat next to a definite regular who was chowing down on his meat salad, all elbows! I had to watch out. The menu was huge. The burritos looked more huge. I didn't want a big burrito belly but didn't see veggie tacos. The waitress was super accommodating and did a rice and bean combo with avocado for veggie tacos. Perfect! My dish arrived with double tortilla tacos that were stuffed and a side of spicy salsa and some chopped up lettuce and tomatoes. It tasted just like my mom's beans and rice. It was super filing and just wanted I wanted for the price of $7. Also I only trust Mexican restaurants if they have a Virgen de Guadalupe statue which Acapulco does. Check! Trekked all the way here on a Sunday afternoon from lower Manhattan and this old school Mexican diner definitely did not disappoint! My friend and I sat ourselves at one of the tables covered in a colorful table runner. They definitely add character to the diner. We ordered some chips and guac to start - a huge serving for only $6. The guac was perfectly balanced with red onion and cilantro flavors. I definitely need to upgrade my homemade guac after tasting this. Then came a huge serving of Pork Tostadas and Beef Tacos. Loved every bite of it. Corn shells were crispy, and meats were juicy and flavorfully seasoned. I love refried beans and sour cream, which they're really generous with too. Everything came out to be under $20. I decided to try a veggie burrito... the "Acapulco" Burrito. I thought a veggie burrito would be blah, but I was wrong... it was very good! It has squash, carrots, broccoli (I think it had broccoli) and of course rice, beans and Mexican cheese. Very tasty and filling. Big menu and they even serve herbal tea. This place has great Mexican basics. My favorite menu items: Chicken quesadilla: comes with rice, salad and creme fresh, super thick with lots of chicken and cheese. Carnitas tacos: Fried Pork tacos comes with salsa verde, rice, and salad. Ranchero taco: Fried Beef and Huge chunks of farmers cheese, served with salsa verde, rice, and salad. Guacamole and chips the guac is basic and great, the chips are homemade. It's a great place to bring kids, the prices are very reasonable. read more

I ordered sliced steak entree - thought it would be sliced pieces of carne Asada but it was more like thin cheesesteak meat put in oven to be crispy on top. Chicken quesadilla was just average. I'm from the West Coast, soo Mexican food is something I am very used to. I had their steak tacos and breakfast burrito. And they were just okay. I think the place is a bit overrated. The steak was fine, could have been more flavorful. The rice and beans were a bit cold, and the tacos were kinda bland in my opinion. The three stars is for the price. After months of having a hankering for Mexican food (and hearing that NYC has none of it), I stumbled upon Acapulco. So the place itself, it pretty standard almost diner-ish, nothing special clean but again forgettable. You seat yourself and they bring you menus. My husband ordered a Modelo...$4 people, $4! We split chips and guacamole. The chips themselves were thick and crispy while the guacamole was ON POINT! It was garlicky and spicy, and they definitely used more than the standard restaurant ingredients in their recipe. As far as meals go we each got a burrito (which according to Yelp seemed to be a specialty). We got the steak and chicken burritos, both $7.25 each. Both were incredibly flavorful, well seasoned, and they both were served in a massive portion size. The only thing that comes with the burritos is a tomato salad, shredded lettuce/onion, and a sour cream sauce on top. We each used the table hot sauce which was spicy but very good to top the burrito. Overall, we left incredible stuffed and satisfied. Would I recommend this place? You bet I would in fact it sounds good again today. I'm coming to find out that little old Greenpoint has a lot of hidden gems to be found in the most unassuming of places. They have fantastic burritos, but it's not one that you can hold in your hands.. You need a fork and knife because the tortilla isn't big enough to hold all the stuffing. That being said, the proportions are huge. Acapulco is a very much self serve kind of place. Grab a drink from one of the fridges or get yourself a cup of water from the counter.
