Paul, the owner from MechPros HVAC came over the weekend to do the assessment and consultation. It was very helpful be able to do it over the weekend so I didn't have to take time off from work. He was on time, communicated well, and very thorough. Among the half a dozen vendors I contacted, he was among the few that truly listened to my input instead of trying to upsell or push options I wasn't interested in. After comparing all the quotes, MechPros' quote was very competitive. I decided to go with them and scheduled the job which was able to start quickly in about a week after signing the contract. On the scheduled day, Will and Kieran, the two installation crew members, arrived right on time. They were courteous, personable, and professional, and did a good job. They kept the job site clean and neat with drop clothes with minimum disruption. After two days of work, the installation was done. They cleaned up nicely, took away all the disposable materials, and restored everything back to where things were. The installation job was done very neatly in the attic and backyard. I can tell they are proud of their work too. The new system is much better than the system it replaced. After the system started up, I noticed some issues. Paul was very responsive and sent a technician immediately to check it out. After a repair that wasn't successful, he personally came out and concluded that the issue was related to the equipment. Paul took responsibility and ownership of addressing the equipment problem under warranty with the manufacturer. He sped up the resolution by fronting the cost of providing replacement components and dealing with the warranty replacement parts separately to reduce the system down time. I appreciate MechPros HVAC and Paul for taking ownership and having customer service as a top priority. After the problem was resolved, MechPros also helped coordinate the city inspection to secure the final permit approval. I would not hesitate to recommend MechPros HVAC for anyone who needs HVAC system services.

He installed a new heat pump, thermostat, and outside unit, and while I'm no HVAC expert, I didn't need to be -- multiple tradespeople who came through the house, including our permit inspector, insulation installer, and duct pressure tester, all commented that it was done well. That kind of unsolicited praise from other professionals means a lot. When we later noticed some issues with our vents, Ian was responsive, came out quickly, fixed everything thoroughly, and waived the service visit fee while genuinely apologizing that the issues existed at all. That's the kind of honesty and accountability that's hard to find. Would absolutely hire him again.

We had a new Trane A/C, Furnace, thermostat and Electronic Air Filter installed April of 2021…read more Everything worked great. A couple of weeks ago I decided to try the A/C to make sure it worked before it stats getting hot. Result was the compressor outside did not turn on. So I called Clean Air as they installed everything. I assumed they would stand behind their work and product. Technician came and verified A/C didn't work and diagnosed a bad Trane Control board in the furnace and Contactor relay in the compressor. That bill was $100. Sarah called and indicated the control board was covered by Trane but not the relay. That seemed kind of strange to me as I assume everything in a Trane Container label would be covered. So rack up another $50 plus the labor to install. Technician arrived with the parts. He installed both and A/C still did not work. Secondary technician was called and determined it was the ECOBEE thermostat. This was not a covered part. All was verified via a Emmerson thermostat which could be installed for another $249. I declined so the technician left with the A/C still not working. I ordered a new ECOBEE stat that night, installed it myself and A/C is working again. The CleanAir total bill for the second visit was $50 plus $180 labor. I had a real concern after the technician left that the A/C wouldn't work after I installed the thermostat. However, I lucked out on that one. I think as a consumer there is some real communication issues with CleanAir. I expected them to stand behind their install as well as the manufactures product. Keep me out of any squabbles between yourself and the manufacturer. I felt the technician was also trying to do a little upselling. He indicating I need to do more preventive maintenance. The big thing was leaving without a working system. No plan to fix it other than the customer buying a new thermostat. I'd also discovered the technician had failed to tell me he had disconnected the fuses to the outside compressor as well. Someone less sophisticated than myself would have had to pay someone else to come and diagnose what was wrong.

We loved the experience from start to finish!…read more Sam helped us understand the different units of work that needed to get done. He was thorough, even recording videos of his initial inspection so that we had a record. I especially appreciated that he called out Alameda regulations that were going to change in 2029 (this informed our decision to go with a heat pump now) On the day of the installation, we had an amazing experience working with Sam, Benny, Jesus, and Jorge. They were always very thoughtful and polite. Anything that might deviate from the original quote, they would give us a headsup. For example, they noticed that one of the pipes looked missing from the outlet in the yard, and that they would just charge us for parts if they needed to go out to buy a pipe and install it. Fortunately, the pipe was just hidden. They even went out of their way to help us fix one of our broken stairway steps. It was an incredibly smooth process, and we LOVE how quiet the heat pump is. My husband and I needed to get our ancient HVAC ducts replacements since they were full of holes…read more John from High Performance referred me to Tri-City as the only company that he'd trust to do the work. Let's get real. It's really difficult to find companies that will do honest, quality work on your house. I'm sure we all have stories of not so great experiences. HVAC work is expensive so getting it done right is paramount due to the cost of the investment. To sum up our experience with Tri-City: this was one of the top experiences my husband and I have ever had with any vendor doing work on a home in our entire life. In an effort to do some due diligence on my part, I contacted 2 other HVAC businesses which had top ratings on Yelp in my area. Tri-City and these other 2 HVAC companies all met me in person to do look around to quote the work. I took many notes on each of the visits to record what each of the companies was recommending, along with other professional tidbits that they shared to demonstrate their knowledge. Selecting Tri-City as a vendor was a total no brainer for us. From the get go they were friendly, forthcoming, honest (which is so key), and professional. Out of all the vendors they were the only ones willing to REALLY look around in an effort to assess the work properly. They pointed out a few things we hadn't even noticed about our ancient system. From the beginning of our meeting it was clear they knew what they were doing and what they were talking about. With each of the 2 other top HVAC companies (which I won't name in this review), I had caught them being dishonest in their assessments. Each company lied about certain things in an obvious attempt to upsell work. Queue major eye rolling. It was really entertaining to see them suggest work be done which didn't make sense or make up lies about current/upcoming restrictions of what we can/cannot purchase in our county. When these lies came out I did my best to put on a poker face/act normal even though it just didn't make any sense. So although the other company's quotes were lower than Tri-City I didn't trust their estimates/quotes and knew I'd have to deal with major BS once work commenced. The likelihood I'd get surprise additional costs was pretty high which ultimately made all of the quotes even in cost between all 3 companies. The used car salesmanship attitude from these companies which were supposed to be "5-Star" companies only solidified our decision to hire Tri-City. Tri-City never attempted to milk us as a customer and we both greatly respected their transparency. They're real honest businessmen who stand by their work. That decision did not disappoint! Since we had asbestos wrapped ducts the abatement company Tri-City teams up with came first to take out all of the old ducts. Just like with Tri-City the asbestos company was professional, on-time, and clean. The work was done well and I appreciated that the company really made an effort to be careful with the dry wall around some of the wall vents. We were concerned that we'd have to do major patch ups of dry wall but in the end didn't have to b/c of how meticulous they were. Tri-City came in each day, completed quality work, and kept me abreast of their progress. When my husband requested pictures of their work in our crawl space they happily did that with no questions asked. They went out of their way to pick up new filters for us as the ones we had weren't optimal for our system (which we didn't know). Also they did an incredible job installing 2 new wall vents in the bathroom which is finally allowing heating/cooling into our bathroom! The caulking was done so well. The sign of a really great business is when they leave your home as clean or cleaner than when they came in. Each day Tri-City left our home spotless throughout the multi-day project. Our system is working so much better with the new ducts. If we ever need any installation work done in the future we will not hesitate to reach out to Tri-City for help. Thanks for the awesome HVAC work you did for us! We are truly happy with the work.
