They were able to give me an estimate but I did not hire them for the job because it wasn't in my budget. The team was efficient, reliable and clean. They were sticklers for COVID protocol. They finished the job on time and well within budget. The owners are also perfectionist with the jobs they do. This is technically 2 reviews for both Brandon and Javier so I hope they get credit for both. First during the heat wave our older AC unit went our. Luckily we had a portable AC unit from Costco a couple months prior. Anyways Brandon came out and checked out old unit and broke the news we need to either put new parts in which will cost a pretty penny or get a whole new one and replace both AC and Furnace. Obviously I was hesitant. However Brandon was very honest and practical with his talking. He was never pushy and didn't try to sell me the most expensive thing either. He has been working on HVAC installs i think for at least 7+ years so he knows his fair share of info. Brandon was very informative that I felt that it was hard to find someone of his character and expertise to pass on. 5 stars for him. 2 days later Brandon picked up an extra shift to do the Install of the furnace and AC. He was efficient and informative during the whole process. He made sure my wife and I understood what too look for and what to do to get the most out of our system. Javier was here as well installing the AC unit. Both of them were informative, professional and polite. They both went above and beyond what their job asks in terms of education, efficiency, cleanliness and professionalism. They were able to find one of our vents were not working. The second interaction I had with Javier is that he came out and did an install of a new vent in the crawl space and a removal of the old one. He was very pleasant to work with. He was efficient and professional. I say if you hire Contra Costa Climate control, to ask for these guys to come and do the work. They are both great. So technically I had 2 separate interactions with them both so I hope they get double the recognition. This is a smaller local company and I think because they value good work and family, the workers work well together. Jim is the owner and was running around bringing lunch to the guys. Scott Vargas will soon be taking over and he was helping bring supplies. One hiccup I would say is maybe they can improve on the speed of sending out estimates. It dragged quite a bit. Not sure where the hold up was on that however otherwise this company is 5/5. read more

Scott from CCCC came out fairly quickly, was on time, explained the situation to me, and resolved the issue in about half a day (which includes some travel time to locate a part around the East Bay). Not very happy with this company. My parent's were having an issue with their new furnace, so I called Contra Costa Climate Control after the manufacturer told me they were the dealer to work with in my area. When I called they told me the diagnostic call would be $125. Fine. My husband already did all the troubleshooting and we knew the igniter wasn't igniting so we figured it wouldn't cost much more than $125 since the system was still under warranty and it probably wouldn't take much time to fix it. When the technician arrived, it took him minutes to confirm the issue was a faulty switch to the igniter, and that it was under warranty. Sweet right? Wrong. The technician then tells me it's going to be $440 in labor to replace. I said what!? I didn't understand since it's a very simple part, easy to get to/replace, and it's under warranty. The technician then tells me that it will take about an hour to fix (really!?) and also that he doesn't have the warranty part so he has to drive all the way to Benicia and back to get it (I'm in Concord), and all that time counts toward labor cost. I thought that was crazy since I've never heard of that before so I called the office to confirm and see if there was another way. I even offered to go get the part myself! But they said they would still charge me the time because the technician would either be waiting for me or would have to come back another time. So now that I'm already $125 in for the service call, I'm stuck and reluctantly agree to continue with the repair. Just as the technician leaves to get the part, I decide to call the office again to see if we could instead use one of their regular replacement parts instead of one from the warranty pool (because I figured it might be cheaper to pay for the part than to pay for the time it was going to take to get the warranty part) Anyway, Yvonne from the office tells me that the technician doesn't have a regular replacement part with him either so my idea won't work. But, she sympathized with me and said she understands my frustration and wants to help me out. She then makes me a little happier by saying she's going to do what she can to reduce the cost for this service. So I wait for the technician to come back with the part, and thankfully it's a lot quicker than I expected. However, for the time he made up in travel, he lost in repair time. Honestly, to put the switch back in (which consists of a connector and two screws) and then testing that everything is working correctly shouldn't take more than 30 minutes but the technician managed to stretch it out to over an hour by dilly dallying around, and going outside to make phone calls. I was kind of perturbed but knew Yvonne was going to ensure I wasn't going to be charged the full quoted amount. But, I was wrong. When the technician was done, he proceeded to charge me the $440. Again surprised, I told him that Yvonne had told me she was going to work on reducing it. The technician called Yvonne to confirm but, again, surprised that she said that she couldn't because the repair took too long. OMG!!! First, it shouldn't have taken so long, and second, who in Service tells someone they are going to help reduce the cost and not follow through? Just all around, a bad experience! Lesson learned, and I'll be going elsewhere next time. read more

I had the extreme displeasure of meeting Jim Allnut (not sure on spelling but fitting) today. Contra Costa Climate Control was the sub-contractor on our wine refrigeration cooling system and I was not personally involved in his firm's selection unfortunately. Jim's firm installed the Whisper Kool 8000 split-system. When we fired up the unit last week I and many other people who have visited our house commented on how loud the external condenser was. In fact it is 10x louder than any of our other much larger and more powerful condensers. If you you look at this unit it appears it was assembled by a child. At the request of the wine installer Jim visited our site to inspect the noise issue, he was immediately dismissive and said in his many years not one person has complained about the humming noise that I am experiencing. He tried to get "scientific" as to how refrigeration systems work, I called him out on his hocus pocus theories and he merely walked out on our conversation. He took zero ownership of the issue and abandoned our project. I would absolutely never ever recommend this firm, run don't walk to a more trusted HVAC shop. I will now have to utilize the resources of Yelp to find a professional to correct the major blunder caused my Jim at Contra Costa Climate Control. read more

After a run in with a shady a/c company, I tried CC Climate. They were very quick and professional, no complaints. When I needed to change my filter several months in, I realized I had no info on the filter, and since the panel is in a tricky spot, I wanted to have the right size on hand to make it an easy swap. Kevin at CC Climate tracked down the filter size within a day, and printed a manual of my unit for me to pick up. Very pleased. Desk folks are nice, too. read more

The first visit was great when they activated the AC in our store. It was great customer service. The 2nd time was a huge disappointment. When I called to schedule the 2nd appointment the owner was acting all buddy buddy "yeah we can help you out, we've been there before" yadda yadda yadda. They then charged me around $250 to tell me I had about $15,000+ in repairs. There was a $75 van fee or something like that. I would be happy to show the invoice publicly. I just think it's incredibly 2 faced that you act all happy and then slap a charge like that. As a business owner myself I try to be upfront as possible with pricing. Also the technician was taking a personal call while charging me my time. I have it on video. I don't think they have the customers best interest at heart and they need money because their bottom line is hurting. Get your act together Contra Costa climate control. read more

My furnace quit working. I had CCCC come out and they said the Inducer motor needed to be replaced and they could do it for $616 and also recommended a $150 cleaning for a $766 total. I asked how much was for parts and how much for labor and he said they only give a flat rate and he couldn't give me that information. I told him I wanted to get another estimate since my husband had replaced that motor before and I knew it cost around $150 and took him about 40 minutes to install. CCCC said if I got another estimate and then decided to use him I would have to add another $75 to the price for him to come back out. I had High Performance Heating and Repair come out and he said they could do it for $435 total. He also said that the cleaning fee was unnecessary and just a way for CCCC to make extra money. Another local place, Air Conditioning Systems quoted me $330 to replace the motor. CCCC did come out quickly, arrive on time, and their repair person was polite but for me the vast difference in prices rationalizes a 2 star rating. read more

Used them three times. Once they saved me a pile of money by helping me diagnose a problem with an inexpensive electrical part. Sadly on two occasions their first order of business was to disconnect my furnace and try and sell me a new system (even offering to sell me a new A/C and replace my ducts though that unit is only 5 years old!). When I got a commercial repairman to provide a second opinion, he fixed the problem in minutes by replacing the ignitor and I have been assured the furnace is A-OK. Problem with most HVAC companies like CCCC is that they get paid to replace more than to repair. read more

Get ready to get ripped off! Called CCCC to fix a problem with our furnace. The repair person was courteous and showed up on time. However, after a quick diagnosis he hit us with a $750 estimate for changing a part. The part was $250 and he wanted to charge $500 for labor! This was a simple screw off the old part, screw on the new part type of repair. I paid the $75 diagnosis charge and sent the technician packing! July 7th Contra Costa Climate Control tech came out to look at my A/C, ( not cooling ) after a while he said that the outside unit ( condenser ) needs to be replaced because the compressor burned out. So I asked the Tech did you try a new capacitor? he said oh yeah let me try that, I said to myself why did't he try that before. Anyway he tied a new one but said, no you need a new unit. He said we will send you a quote, I paid $75 and he left. A week passed and I called that I have not received my quote yet. Well they said they had the wrong e-mail address. The quote was for $3850.00 and that was for a cheaper brand unit than the one in the house. So I said how much is the A/C unit and how much for labor. They refused to tell me the cost of the unit. The weather was really hot so I did not want my tenants to wait any longer so I called back talked to Yvonne and asked when can you install the unit and how long will it take. She said about 6 hours and we can do it the first week of August, I said ok do it but please let me know a couple of days ahead of the installation date so I can notify my tenants so someone will be home, she said OK. August 1st at 4:50 pm I got a call from CCCC which I could not answer, they did not leave a message. The next day after 9 am I called back. Yvonne said we have the unit and we are booked all week but we can install it today. I said it's already almost 10 am our agreement was to let me know ahead of time so I can set the time with my tenants. She said sorry but we are booked and the only opening is Monday of next week. So I said can I speak to the manager. The manager called me back about 2 hours later and insisted that I was told that the unit was coming in the first week of August not installed the first week.I tried to tell her, why would I want to know when the unit arrived at your shop, I want to know the installation date. She ( the manager ) was so rude she hung up the phone on me twice. I am glad she canceled the order, I have experienced bad service before but noting like this. Not the way to run a business. One star is more than you deserve. You will never get another chance from me again. read more

Our furnace went out early A.M. and CCCC provided quick response time, within 4 hours after calling them. Brad Ingham was courteous, articulate, thorough, and he quickly found the defective part in the system after 10 minutes diagnosing the problem. He also spotted a leak coming from the unit caused by condensation. He fixed that by applying special caulking and did not charge for the extra service.
