We had a new Trane A/C, Furnace, thermostat and Electronic Air Filter installed April of 2021. Everything worked great. A couple of weeks ago I decided to try the A/C to make sure it worked before it stats getting hot. Result was the compressor outside did not turn on. So I called Clean Air as they installed everything. I assumed they would stand behind their work and product. Technician came and verified A/C didn't work and diagnosed a bad Trane Control board in the furnace and Contactor relay in the compressor. That bill was $100. Sarah called and indicated the control board was covered by Trane but not the relay. That seemed kind of strange to me as I assume everything in a Trane Container label would be covered. So rack up another $50 plus the labor to install. Technician arrived with the parts. He installed both and A/C still did not work. Secondary technician was called and determined it was the ECOBEE thermostat. This was not a covered part. All was verified via a Emmerson thermostat which could be installed for another $249. I declined so the technician left with the A/C still not working. I ordered a new ECOBEE stat that night, installed it myself and A/C is working again. The CleanAir total bill for the second visit was $50 plus $180 labor. I had a real concern after the technician left that the A/C wouldn't work after I installed the thermostat. However, I lucked out on that one. I think as a consumer there is some real communication issues with CleanAir. I expected them to stand behind their install as well as the manufactures product. Keep me out of any squabbles between yourself and the manufacturer. I felt the technician was also trying to do a little upselling. He indicating I need to do more preventive maintenance. The big thing was leaving without a working system. No plan to fix it other than the customer buying a new thermostat. I'd also discovered the technician had failed to tell me he had disconnected the fuses to the outside compressor as well. Someone less sophisticated than myself would have had to pay someone else to come and diagnose what was wrong. read more

TLDR: Great job on a repair by a couple of guys who know their stuff and are genuinely nice human beings. Our furnace stopped blowing air, so we had effectively no heat or AC. I had a recommendation for this business from our neighbor, so I called for help. Two gentlemen, both named John, came over to troubleshoot. After I explained the situation, they navigated the obstacle course of our attic space and started digging into the problem. They diagnosed the problem as the furnace's control board, or maybe the blower motor (which I suspected). They located the needed parts, and said they'd set up another service call to do the actual repairs. A few minutes after they left, they called me back with a new plan, they'd just go grab the parts (warehouse in Concord) and come right back. No objections from this end! After they got the new control board installed, we spent a little time testing everything...they changed the filter and asked me to run the AC and then heat. They checked the air flow at all the vents to be sure everything was OK. No upselling was involved, I specifically asked how our system looked to them and they said other than the problem they fixed, everything is running fine. We had a few minutes of downtime here and there to chit-chat. They answered all my questions and I have the impression of professionals with a good store of knowledge and experience. I'd definitely use this company again if I needed HVAC repairs or servicing. read more

Incredible work, easy solution to a nagging problem we had for 2 years 1 with another HVAC company telling us we needed to replace our entire HVAC system. We really did not want to fork out $15,000 for a new system so we postponed the fix until we could find a company willing to come in and take a look at the situation. Although Jon, the man who came out to my home, was excellent. (He carefully checked out the thermostat, then went to the roof. He explained the compressor was no longer working.) We discussed replacement units. I asked if the workers could move the thermostat up on the wall and patch the hole from where the old one would be removed. He said he didn't think that would not be a problem. After that visit, things went downhill fast. The draft of the contract the company sent did not include moving the thermostat. So I emailed back about that. This we went on and on on specifics. No one explained why the change from what I was told. Also my language that precisely stated how much higher the new thermostat would be on the wall was a problem I gave language that would work, including that the top of the new thermostat would be 6.5 inches above the top of the hole from the old thermostat The contract kept coming back "5 inches higher" with no specification of higher than what. (if they went 5" higher in a way that was simply 5" above the old one, it would be too high for me to see without craning my neck back, which I cannot do, due to the results of a 5-month-long serious spinal fluid leak that left me unable to crane my neck back. I needed the new thermostat top to be 6.5" from the top of the empty hole left by the old thermostat. I had conceded other items (OK no paint or texture on drywall over the old thermostat hole) then OK no drywall. Then OK no drywall. Then I asked for heavy cardboard taped shut over any hole in the wall when they were not working on the hole. (I may not be in the unit when holes are made) I explained that the condos have rats in the walls and I do not want one to slip in. Then waiting again. Then email that they would patch the hole. I thought they would do drywall when I read this, but I may have been mistaken they may have been thinking of the cardboard solution. Then I heard nothing for 5 or 6 days, the language about 5" not being changed.. I then decided to read the 1 star reviews for this company to see if there was any hint of the kind of problems I was having. And there were complaints of communication problems. Sadly, after being under stress trying to get a precise contract done, I was comfortable with signing, and not being able to stay warm enough on some evenings, nites and some mornings and, and having no idea why we could not agree on my 6.5 inch language I had to give up and find another company. Was I fired from being a client? I liked Jon who came out the first day. And Sarah seemed kind and polite when she would get back to me (although not giving explanations why some language stayed the same.) Was management holding her up on relies? Why didn't anyone call me to tell me they would not do what the front man said should not be a problem? So confusing. Bad communication, long waits between emails. We were so close to a signed contract, but too many days went past. Jon had me sold, until I got unsold. So despite a good Yelp rating (over 4.0, I think 4.3 or 4.5) I made a big mistake not reading all the 1 star reviews, before I went forward, which I know to do on Amazon. Clean Air HVAC to the rescue. Our furnace stopped working after our new roof was installed. Apparently the roofers did something to the wiring when installing the solar blanket in our attic. Based on previous experience, DH called Clean Air HVAC. For the initial call, we were given a time window of between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Knock at the door at 3:01 PM. After checking things out, it was determined we would need a second service call with two workers in order to complete the job. The second appointment was set for 8:00 AM and the workers arrived at 8:20 AM. So much better than the typical repair services. The job was completely in a timely, efficient, and very competent manner. Clean Air HVAC went "above and beyond" in providing what was needed to get our furnace working again. So this is my third experience with Clean Air. They did the a/c on my dads house after he passed, they installed an attic fan at my house. They came out a couple of times on warrantee work to deal with the fan rattling. No problem hasn't rattled since. NOW a/c in the second story is not keeping the second story cool. Ken the tech came the day I called when temps were 100 degrees and checked the 24 year old system and found that adjusting our ducting was the problem. The a/c worked fine. He did not try and sell me a new system, gave me info on how to keep the upstairs cool and checked all system components. I highly recommend Clean Air! read more

We had great service with all the folks at CleanAIR. We had a new Lennox furnace installed, Lennox air conditioner installed, asbestos abatement performed and 4 new duct runs placed in 4 rooms. We worked with Roy Branda on the order. The asbestos abatement was one day and the installation and ducting work a full day through a third party company Alliance Environmental. The crew that came out for installation: Miguel, Josh Javier and Ernesto worked all day at the house to expedite and complete the project in one day. We are pleased with the results and for 10K we feel the customer service, quality and comfort was well worth it! The only hitch we encountered was the over flow pipe was not connected and sealed in the furnace, so water dripped into the system and caused a little rust over the summer. We notified CleanAIR of this and Claudia responded immediately offering to have a free service and inspection to make sure everything was in good shape. Since installing our furnace we have had 2 service representatives come out complimentary. When we were getting mold smells coming out of the vents Jim came out to inspect and informed us of how often filters need to be changed. The second time was a complimentary inspection and cleaning with Joe. We feel that CleanAIR did good work and their customer service is 5 star. read more

I think most of his work comes from Fidelity Home Warranty. Otherwise i don't see why anyone would use him. Put in your claim and you have to call them cause they won't call you. They do minimal work, don't put things back, and no receipts. And no your shoes aren't clean so you should take them off. Also asked stupid questions about the things in your home. So what motivated me to write this review? I had recurring problems with power to my thermostat. On the 2nd visit, technically 3rd, it wasn't doing what it did while he was there. So somehow that's my fault and he reported to fidelity there was no problem and he didn't do anything. Even though he made an adjustment. So therefore i get another bill. That's pretty shady to try and get an extra $65 dollars out of the same issue. I did take it up with Fidelity. And they go off of what you report. My point exactly. Called you out for the same problem, so you should report it as such. read more

I had my home warranty company contract with this place and they called and scheduled an appointment for later in the week for my Furnace that does not work. I put in a time off request with my work and on the day was there at the specified time. NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP AND NO CALL. I call and left a message and also called my Home Warranty Company who tried to call but no one answered including the after hours number. I got a call back and when I expressed my concern she said that someone had not been at work and that I was never scheduled. We had an entirely new system installed at the end of 2014. At the time I recall that they were very eager to rip out the old unit. It turned out later that the unit was covered under the Rossmoor HOA plan and that I could have had it replaced rather than spend 10k plus on a new unit. Clean Air was familiar with this as they do maintenance on units in this development. Fast forward to today. Some 3+ years later. I noticed that the units refrigerant was very low/ non existent. I called clean air to repair it under warranty. They said that it was not covered. There is clearly a leak in the system. To put this into perspective HVAC systems can cost as much as a new car. When you buy a new car and something goes wrong with it within the first 3-4 years you'd expect that it would be fully covered. Unlike a car, however an Hvac system can't be driven off road or have the gears ground. There is little 'abuse' you can give a system that's one goal in life is to maintain a comfortable 70 degrees. We don't live in Death Valley or in the arctic circle. California is relatively temperate.... Clean Air I have only one point of advice stand by your product. If a system that you installed looses its refrigerant within the first 5 years. Fix it. Period. Update: Got a $735 charge on my credit card. Thanks Clean Air for letting me know the amount before charging me! These guys are a real class act. Update 2: In response to Roy's retort dated Sept. 17 2018 I purchased a complete system from Clean Air. This included all the mechanical parts, the ducting, the wiring and labor to install it. Clean Air discovered that the a faulty O ring had failed causing the system to loose all of its refrigerant. I did not purchase the system directly from the manufacturer- Clean Air did. I didn't have a contract with the manufacturer - Clean Air does. I had a contract with Clean Air and Clean Air alone. As Roy points out the The warranty is 10 years on parts from the manufacturer. Roy should have dealt with the manufacturer to resolve this as it was under the 10 year warranty. I want people who read this to be really clear. When you buy a "system" from Clean Air be incredibly vigilant when they speak of a 10 year warranty. Clean air does not stand by the products they install beyond the 2 year labor warranty period. read more

I had a new Trane (XB14) 4 ton/14 seer air conditioner installed in June 2012. I was able to get a very competitive price for it along with a FREE Nest Thermostat! My friends and family were a bit surprised with my purchase price. Other HVAC companies quoted me over $7K for a similar unit with installation. Installation took only 2 days and was professionally done. The installers provided me with suggestions on where to place the air conditioner to avoid any noise, which I appreciated. The air conditioner unit is HUGE! My only complaint is that one of the installers stole half of my unused Dewalt phillip bit tips that were placed in my loft along with an attempt to steal the Nest screwdriver kit that came with my Nest. I guess you can say that they're screwdriver happy! Otherwise, I would definitely recommend to friends and family with a caution to hide their tools, specifically screwdrivers. =) read more

I was very happy with my install that was completed this week on my brand new furnace. The crew (Roy, Jim, and Ernesto) all showed up on time and they got right to work. The install went smoothly and as an engineer myself I paid close attention to their sheet metal work, gas pipe fittings, wiring, and overall installation. They did great! I had an appointment window of 3-5 which is when I work, so I asked them to give me a heads up the day of the appointment so I could get a more accurate time. I wasn't called ahead of time like I'd asked and only once the person was at my door. This wouldn't have been an issue because I was getting in the elevator, at most 2 minutes from my door. The issue was that the guy who came out was extremely rude and proceeded to argue with me because I wasn't "in my home". He then told me he was not going to fix my AC and hung up on me. I like the lady who I worked with replacing our AC on top of our roof. The only place with a 30 foot ladder. We had to make sure the techs installing the system properly anchored the AC attachments with waterproofing. I have meant to call her back. Suddenly the Furnace shutdown. After calling in a third party they found the new AC system had a shutoff valve when filled with water will shutdown the system. When I discover what this system is and understand its operation I will sum up my dealings with them(her) in a very positive manner. read more

Watch out for these guys...They want to sell you a more, not repair your heater and dishonest in the end. They gave me a written diagnostic price in writing for the repair including parts. They came out the first day and did "repairs". I paid them with a check for $346-. Next day the heater did not work. They came out again the next day, tinkered with it and got it running for that day, telling me I needed a new gas valve or a new furnace. The next day it didn't work again. They came a third time got it running and tried to sell me a new thermostat and BLOWER MOTOR for an additional $275-. The repair person told me to go to Home Depot and buy a thermostat or they could sell me one and install it. When I pointed out that I had written contract for the cost of the repairs, he went to his truck and got a thermostat and put it in. The heater still did not work ! I put a stop on the original check and advised their office that three workers had come to the house, that the heater was still not working and that I would pay for the parts and work when the repairs were done and the heater was working. Roy the owner called and said he would come out and and find out what the problem was. He did come to my home saying he was going to fix the furnace. He went in, took the cover off the furnace, removed parts that they had installed as per the original estimate and said, "you stopped the check, we took our parts back, you are on your own." Sooo the owner flat out lied when he told me he was there to find the problem, wonder what other untruths he tells. At no time did I tell Roy to take out any of the parts. I was lucky, it only cost me $25- for the stopped check and to find out how dishonest and unprofessional they are. I never asked for anything for free as proven by the payment issued on the first day of "repair". I am not looking to get money returned as I stopped the check knowing that my heater was not working. At NO time did I ask Roy to remove electrical parts that he had installed, that is a flat out fantasy on his part. I am not looking for anything from this company. They walked away, at no real cost to me. I am posting this review as a matter of principle, and because I want any future customer to know that the owner's statement of " we stand by our work and we care about our customers". is a myth, not their goal. read more

I recently moved into a new home, only to learn that we could not keep the home heated at a comfortable temperature while having soaring energy costs and that both the furnace and duct system needed to be replaced. I received one quote to replace both from another provider and then Jeremy Hunter at Clean Air was referred to me by our real estate agent. I called him on a Saturday and then on Sunday (his day off), Jeremy came out and walked through my system with me, explained in layman's terms what was going on and assessed my needs. By that afternoon, he had provided me with a very reasonable quote and trust worthy service. We ended up going with the other provider due to timing needs but Clean Air has a more competitive and less "salesy" approach, which I appreciated. It is not often you find a company that stands behind its work 100%. Clean Air HVAC is one of those companies. I had mini-split systems installed in my Eichler home. We ended up putting the condensers on the roof. Well, we found it too noisy. Isolators were tried but did not work. CleanAir came out and moved the units to the ground at no cost to me. I believe that was more than fair. I will recommend these guys to anyone who needs HVAC work done on there home. read more

Richard was unprofessional, he showed up empty handed - not even a notebook. He looked at the HVAC and asked me what's wrong with it. I told him to diagnose it and tell me what's wrong with it. He inspected the furnace and used his cell phone as a flashlight. He said we need a new furnace, new AC unit, new ducts and a new thermostat. PG&E had also just inspected the furnace and said it was working perfectly. Richard said it would take him 3 hours to write up an estimate, he wrote some notes on the palm of his hand. Richard told me that the ducts are not insulated, old, leaking, etc. All the ducts had been repaired and insulated the day before! He didn't even inspect the crawl space and tried to sell us 6 new ducts. We are not using this company for our HVAC needs. HIre them at your own risk! read more
