Our waitress was a sweetheart and very attentive. At times she did make us feel uncomfortable as she would just stand there after our chats for longer than usual and watch us without a word and then silently walk away. The food overall was good. It wasn't fabulous and not a place would have me going back for more. The night we went, it was one guy cooking in the back. Stopped by on a weekday, early dinner. And he was doing a great job keeping up with the restaurant w/o a long wait for the patrons. After receiving the complimentary bread, which was mid but the butter was nicely seasoned, we ordered mid rare steak bites, chopped Caesar salad and a mid rare rib eye. The temp on the steaks were spot on. For overall food and flavor, it was alright. Both steaks were lightly seasoned, and the gravy for the steak bites was all the flavor it had. And even the sauce didn't have a lot of seasoning too. The chopped Caeser was beautifully plated with 2 anchovies as toppings, that was different. Very good salad. read more

What a great find for an undiscovered steakhouse similar to Melrose or Jaks in Burien, WA. We came on a Saturday early evening during their happy hour around 5PM where you get some discounts. As we neared the door, the hostess opened the door for us to an inviting atmosphere that was warm and playing some Sinatra Christmas music as it was mid December. There's plenty of booth seating and a few 2-tops with a bar that seats at least 12-15 people. We sat at the bar and greeted warmly by Zoe and partake of a few cocktails and ordered the Ahi Tuna where all was wonderful. Able's is basically a steak place and they have everything from a filet to a +30 oz porterhouse. Wife had the 10oz filet and I had the NY Strip steak, both cooked right at medium rare, perfectly seasoned. Add on some of the spicy horseradish sauce and it really hits the spot. Followed dinner with some of the after dinner drinks of a Vermouth and a Cognac was delightful for a finish to the dinner. What's great about Able's is they use the correct glassware and the have a great selection. I can't think of another place in Burien that you'd want to have a steak dinner, or meet some friends for drinks and appetizer's at the bar. Definitely, we will become regulars here and enjoy the fact there's not the crowds and need for reservations you have with Jaks or Melrose. read more

I'll start with the service: absolutely fantastic. Our waitress was attentive, kind and generally made the visit great. The entire front of house staff were excellent. Tables were clean and you could definitely hold a conversation in the restaurant. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to expectations. Steak was barely seasoned and the only saving grace was the butter. My wife's steak was undercooked but mine was cooked perfectly. The baked potato isn't worth the upgrade and needs some work on the flavors. read more

Our atmosphere was great it's the FOOD THAT WAS RANK! My meal was simple a rib eye steak ( medium ) and fries. Plus I indulged is an amazing glass of Cabernet to accompany my flesh... This steak was worse than a Denny Special. Half of the steak was unedible. You had some steak and rest was FAT FAT & MORE FAT! I swear to god that over half of my steak was fat , YES FAT! As I finished my meal there was a heaping mound of gristle and the cut of meat I ate was low quality. One of the worst rip eyes I've ever ordered. Dennys quality type of steak but with $75 price tag if that gives you an idea. Even my buddy mentioned how much fat was on my plate. We both commented we'd never come back. And yes we both are carnivores yet this steak was not something to brag about. However the wine I ordered was sensational, I only wished I'd ordered a bottle and drank my dinner vs subject myself to an order of fat called steak. First time here... Very attentive staff from the time we walked in. We came on a Wednesday evening and were able to make reservations that same day.. A huge plus! The menu has things such as homemade French fries, scalloped potatoes, crab for your salads or steaks. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer with a blanco agave tequila.. They didn't have Anejo so we had the blanco. They have homemade Blue Cheese Olives.. which were absolutely delicious. .. Homemade bread was delightful with the herb butter. Don't usually eat gluten or cheese but had to taste it. Sooo good! The dining experience was nice. It has a good vibe. The owner Ryan came over to chat with us.. he has many years of experience in the "Steakhouse" industry..so I can see the little details that matter.. i.e. homemade food..attentiveness, camaraderie, king cubes for drinks, and mints with a thank you sticker on the top of the to go box.. the only thing I would appreciate is seat covers in the bathroom and the dining room chairs were quite high.. my feet didn't touch the floor. I've frequented the Humble Vine for years and was happy to support Ables newest venture. I don't eat red meat, but they had substantial veggie, fish and chicken options, so I decided to give it a whirl. The fish was especially delicious, served over a bed of creamy carrots that may have been my favorite part of the meal. (Plate-licking worthy). The shrimp cocktail was also perfectly cooked. The place is a throwback to steakhouses of the past, with white shirted waiters in black aprons bustling around a dark, classy interior. The dark-wood lined bar looks like the perfect spot for a first date and a martini. I opted for the wine, which was, as expected for a restaurant owned by a wine store owner, delicious. The only miss of the evening was the gnocchi with ratatouille - which was unfortunately very tough, chewy pasta and a kind of meh sauce. PERFECTLY COOKED STEAK AND DELICIOUS SCALLOPED POTATOES. I compliment the chef on cooking my steak perfectly. The scalloped potatoes come in a rectangular block. These are some of the best I've ever had. There is not too much cream, and the texture is delectable. I also had the blue cheese salad, which fixed much like a wedge with bacon bits, blue cheese, etc, except it is a small fresh head of butterlettuce, and was ver good. Prices are high for storefront steakhouses, but it is understandable to support expensive cuts of meat. My wife had Crab Cakes. She said they were so-so. The onion soup was also made with vegetable stock instead of beef, and it tasted odd. The restaurant does not have baked potatoes like every other steakhouse I've ever been to, and the waitress offered an excuse that it would be "too hard to bake in advance.". Really? To their credit, they did remove the soup from our bill even though we did not actually complain (we did note it to the staff as being odd). The manager later indicateded that this was to satisfy a vegetarian option for customers that need it. Thinking to myself "Why would a vegetarian come to a steakhouse?". The steakhouse is a storefront in a small strip-type mall. Inside, you will find a small bar. There are several booths and a few small tables for two. The lighting is dimmed for dinner service, creating a soothing ambiant environment. Acoustic tiles are found in clusters on the ceiling to dampen the sound-reflective area. (The previous establishment's sound was deafening.) Service, although friendly, was uncomfortable. It began with the hostess. "Do you have a reservation?". We could easily see there were plenty of tables available and the question was uncalled for. Our waitress was overly attentive to the point of disrupting our dining experience. Placeing the bread on our table she annouced "Compliments of the house". This announcement was uncalled for, for serving bread. Please just put it on the table. You want to say "compliments of the house", it better be a glass of wine or a dessert. She came around and spoke to us much too often. I appreaciate waiters that are attentive, but there is a way to do it waithout coming over and announcing "Is everthing ok?" every ten minutes. I even once had to put my hand up in a stop signal once when she was gingerly approching our table. Even the buss service person asking if it is OK to take our plates that we had already piled on top of each other with all our silverware ready to go. Even a visit by the manager was uncomfortable. He seemed like he didn't really know what to say, or how to make a connection. In conclusion. It really does seem like this resturant is trying to be a five star high end establishment. My advise? Stop it. You're in a strip mall in a small town, local non-career waiters and waitresses cannot be trained as high end servers without actually working in a REAL four or five star resturant. You would be better to compete with 909 Coffee & Wine in Burian. (see my review). So, We always start with 5 stars. Some food was very good, and some so-so. I wil deduct 1/2 star. Service was attentive, too much so to the point of annoyance. I will deduct one half star. Our evening and overall experience was not what one should expect even at a mid level resturant. So, I am afraid I will have to deduct one full star, leaving three. And perhaps this is why there were so many booths available on a Friday night. Ables Steakhouse was fantastic from start to finish. We began with warm homemade bread and a 3 herb butter-so good! I had a blueberry mint julep that was fresh and delicious. For appetizers, the steak bites were melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the crab cakes were crisp and flavorful. My entrée, the pan-seared gnocchi with ratatouille sauce, Brussels sprouts, and creamed spinach, was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The whole group loved their meals, including petite steaks, halibut, and Caesar salads. The atmosphere was warm with great background music, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. This is a new steakhouse, but open long enough to work out any issues. The environment was great, but the service and the steaks were mediocre. I ordered the ribeye, but ended up being served a NY strip. It was cooked right, but not what I ordered and I didn't send it back, because we were already there for an hour. Quality of the food is just not there and you could tell that some of the food was not cooked to order. My husband and I came in for pre-dinner cocktails and an appetizer on our anniversary. This was our first visit and definitely will not be our last! Service was personable and friendly. Great New Restaurant Just Opened. If you are looking for a place for a special occasion, a date night or a get together with good friends, then Abels Steakhouse is your place to go. The food is phenomenal: my filet was so tender I almost didn't need a knife. The steaks are ala-carte so you can order sides to share. The grilled asparagus was perfectly done and perfect to share for two. There are entrees, if you aren't a steak person that come complete with sides. Great appetizers and soups/salads that you can almost make a meal of as well. All desserts are made in-house. The cheesecake with lightly macerated strawberries was light and the perfect end to our meal. Wine list, craft cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic craft beverages were just the right touch of class. Service was attentive but not intrusive. I was impressed that opening night appeared to go off without a hitch from a customer perspective (at least while we were there.) Beverages came quickly, food came out in a timely manner and was made correctly. We didn't feel rushed to get in and out. I recommend reservations, but they do have a bar that has first come/first served seating. You can get the full meu at the bar. Coming soon will be a lighter late-night menu that will be perfect after a Seattle Mariners or Sounders FC Game. This will be our go to place for date nights and quiet celebrations. read more

I would not recommend it -- I was not impressed. The steak was extremely salt to the point my tongue is tender. For someone with dietary restrictions, they tried but completely missed the mark. I asked for no gluten or dairy and specifically no cheese as I have an allergy, and they brought out a soup with just loads of melted cheese in it. What they are offering is extremely overpriced. The vibe was extremely weird, and the food took forever. You can tell everything is cooked in the WORST oils, not the value you pay for. I will not be going back as it was; it just was not it. My husband wanted to give a new steakhouse a try for his birthday. Reservation was easy to make and they were able to seat us earlier than the time I had reserved. The dirty martini that was ordered was not dirty at all, except for the 3 olives that were in it. The blue cheese salad was a large serving that could easily be shared, but was lacking much dressing and was fairly bland, even with the fresh cracked pepper. The onion soup was way too sweet and sent back to the kitchen. We both ordered ribeye steaks. They were cooked to a perfect temperature, but came out looking gray with only a few grill marks. No sear at all on the steak. They were both unevenly seasoned. Some bites without any salt with other bites tasting like there was a mound of salt. My husband's steak had a taste of natural gas, as if the burners were not all lit. The creamed spinach was mostly cream, with little spinach. We were offered a dessert menu, but with the experience with the main course we were ready to leave. After paying the bill, we overheard another server asking another table if there was any celebration for the evening and that they offer complimentary dessert for birthdays and special occasions. This was never told to us by our server and we may have changed our mind on ordering one. for his birthday. But lessons learned. You try a new place and things aren't good, you don't want to go back. As I was leaving, I spoke with the owner to give him some feedback about the experience. He said he wished he would have known everything that wasn't right before we paid and leaving. He would have known if someone checked on us during our meal to ask us how everything was. We ordered the petite filet, ribeye, sliders, Cajun chicken pasta, and the blue cheese wedge salad (which you can asked for chopped) for our entrees. We loved every entree! Everything was made to perfection. For appetizers, we had the ahi tuna, crab cakes, and shrimp cocktail which were incredible. We had the bread which was mediocre. It needs salt in my opinion. For sides we ordered the scalloped potatoes, Mac & cheese, cream of spinach, and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes tasted a lot like butter (could use less) and could use some salt but still good.
