They don't serve these normal tortillas chips so we had to order these on the side.

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. Got seated pretty quickly. Servers were very nice and friendly. We ordered the steak nachos- it was good but very greasy. I had the enchiladas and tamales. The tamales was delish... Enchiladas was ok, wouldn't order it again. all in all, i would come back but try their prime steak.

Passed by and turned back around. Greeted immediately with a friendly staff member and a smile. The decoration and ambiance are on point for this Mexican restaurant, the paintings are fun to look out. They don't do chips they do chicharonnes. The tortilla felt, tasted and looked fresh. Rice and beans on the side. Definitely recommend giving them a try!!

Zapatas was fantastic. The food was absolutely incredible, and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. I had the steak nachos and they were truly phenomenal -- packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. On top of that, the staff was very friendly and made me feel genuinely welcomed. This is definitely a spot I'll be coming back to and recommending to others.

In my original review, I stated that I planned to return for Happy Hour and I did, so this update should tell you everything you need to know before considering Zapatas. As mentioned, they offer 40% off select appetizers. They also only have 6-8 appetizers on the menu, so selection is limited. It's further limited, because in addition, select means entre style appetizers, so you can get nachos or quesadillas, but you can't get guacamole or shrimp cocktail which also appear as appetizers. Good news is Nachos was what I intended to try, so here is my update. The place was dead, a couple left when we walked in and we appeared to be the only guests. Now, from what I'm heard the purpose of Happy Hour is to attract diners at a time things are slow, but we were concerned that we were the only diners. I had some issues with this trip and considered lowering my initial score, but I'll leave it as is with more feedback for the restaurant to consider. I don't like the menu here and I don't see you attracting a crowd or families with this menu. The food is undeniably good, but many of the dishes and combinations we have come to expect are either missing or have an alternative name we would not pick up on. I also say ground beef is a staple in full service Mexican and I'm disappointed it's not an option here. The nachos were $18, that is too much if you ask me, I don't think an appetizer should be more than $12. The irony in that statement is with the 40% off, they became $11. Also, the portion as nowhere near worth $18. Happy Hour used to be a way to actually get discounted food, but more places now serve a smaller portion of whatever the item is, and I suspect that was the case here as the plate the nachos came on was just bigger than a saucer and not the size of a plate and in most cases when I order nachos they don't come on a plate, THEY COME ON A PLATTER! The plate was square about 6x6 perfect size for one, but historically, nachos are a shared dish. Also, they really skimped on the presentation. It was a salad bowl full of chips with beans and cheese, about 3 tablespoons of sour cream and a single tablespoon of guacamole. The capper was I thought chopped steak would be all over the nachos, but what I got was about 2-3 ounces of strips on top. So for those not into weight about the portion you would expect in a taco was on top. This was not worth $18 and quite honestly, not worth the happy hour price. Most places give you chips for free, not here. Some give you bean dip for free, so in my opinion, the steak and cheese are the only real unique items and you are charging $18 for what would be a $4 taco elsewhere. I like my nachos loaded and could have used some diced tomato, fresh, not pickled jalapeno, queso fresca and maybe even a little cilantro, but these guys kept it vanilla. The service was friendly and although slightly more attentive, it was still lacking. Again, we were the only guest and our server disappeared. She mentioned it was so slow she was hanging out in the kitchen. Short of asking for more salsa, we were covered, she did refill drinks and check in with us, but I didn't like asking for more salsa and was getting ready to look for her when she did check in to refill drinks. Again, I think I need to lower the sore here, but hopefully they read this and make some changes. I'd love to com back, but I'm not sure if we will and I'm not convinced this place is going to last without customers, that they are not attracting. I didn't find value in our meal and despite having good flavor, they cut corners on portion. There is serious potential here, but they are not coming close to living up to it, so on that note, I do have to lower my initial score.

Chicken, steak, and shrimp. Chimichurri oil dip was especially good on the shrimp

Food was excellent, friendly staff, fair prices. Can't wait to return! Nothing like the typical mexican restaraunts

Well, this review is going to be different from the previous reviews for the same location…read more As mentioned, we've been to this location for my birthday, my son's birthdays, a couple of times. I've also met work clients here as well. I've got to say, for this visit, I was completely underwhelmed. Upon arriving, we had to wait a little bit for a table, which is no big deal. Once we got to the table, we were provided with water, the tortilla shells with the bean toppings, which is really good, and ordered some drinks at that time. While waiting for our drinks, we figured out what we wanted on the menu, we ordered from the menu, and still waited for our drinks. It was over 30 minutes to get drinks to our table. This is unacceptable, they weren't that busy! On top of this, it was an 82° night outside, and the Restaurant had to be equally 82 or higher, there was absolutely no airflow, no ventilation, and we just sat there in our own sweat, waiting for our drinks and our food to be delivered. While visiting this establishment in the past, I've noticed it. It's always been kind of warm inside, but never this unpleasant or uncomfortable. To top this off, our service was very mediocre, at best. I did notice that the area over by the restrooms was 10 to 15° cooler than the main part of the restaurant. You would think, with the feedback we gave our server with regards to the delays, that someone in a management position would've come to our table to see what they could do to help us. No one ever showed their face! Again, unacceptable! For food, I've deviated from my usual, the Vacio, and tried the ribeye. This was a mistake, as it was very thin, and it was overcooked as a result of sitting on the metal plate, as I did not have a secondary plate to move the meat too like I've done with the Vacio in the past. As a result, we hurried through our meal, so that we could get out of there, and get some cooler air and stop sweating. For a restaurant of this caliber, I would expect that there is proper airflow and proper ventilation, so you can have a pleasant and enjoyable meal.

The long: steak culture is incredibly mundane and steakhouses themselves often overcommit and underdeliver. Vue has cracked the code bringing flavor to steak houses. They go beyond the traditional salt and pepper approach and introduce Mexican and Hmong flavors in their dishes. If haven't had the honor of dining in a home from either culture, you're in for a treat. I personally like their New York strip Their family love can be felt in the decor, the interactions, the attention to the customers and the food. For me these were flavors and the culture of care I grew up with. So I'm exited for their success, mark my words they will be the best steakhouse in Washington in the next 2 years. They're working with something special here.

I'm sorry that I have to revise my original review. Instead of 2 stars, I'm changing it to 1…read more The reason is not only my original experience but also the owner's response. Rather than acknowledging my concerns, they chose to argue with my experience and made factual claims that are inaccurate. The reply also reads like a generic AI generated response instead of a genuine attempt to address customer feedback. First, there is no such thing as a "gaucho torta". In Argentine spanish, the word torta refers to a sweet cake. A savory sandwich is not called a torta, so this is clearly a creative invention rather than an Argentine dish. Second, my review was specifically about these kinds of "creative" reinterpretations, not about traditional cuisines. I have traveled extensively throughout Argentina, as well as other countries in Latin America and Europe, and I appreciate that every restaurant is free to innovate. However, when you choose to reinterpret a traditional cuisine, you should also expect that some customers will appreciate those changes while others will not. Both perspectives are valid. Regarding the chimichurri, traditional Argentine recipes have historically relied on neutral oils such as sunflower or corn oil, although recipes vary by region and household. Presenting your version as the definitive authentic one while dismissing a customer's perspective is misleading. The disappointing part was not the food itself but the response. Instead of engaging respectfully with a customer who offered thoughtful criticism, the owner chose to argue with my experience and present questionable "facts" as if they settled the matter. Constructive criticism is an opportunity to improve, not something to dismiss. Here is my original review, my apologies for the confusion on the "bowl": There is plenty of steak, but the bowl is styled to appear fuller than it is, with an excessive amount of greens doing the visual heavy lifting. The steak itself is buried under butter and a heavy white sauce that mutes rather than complements the beef. The large, roughly cut potatoes aspire to a rustic aesthetic but read as inexpensive filler. Most confusing is the lack of culinary identity, the dish isn't recognizably Mexican, Italian, or particularly refined. It mistakes richness for sophistication

The servers were obviously busy, but they ignored our efforts to be helped and 3 other couples got served who sat down after us. 18 & On Fire at Mizu Steakhouse…read more We celebrated my grandbaby's 18th birthday at Mizu in Renton. And let me tell you... life is funny. Back in the day, that exact location used to be a Shari's -- my parents' favorite go-to dinner spot when we wanted a simple family night out. Pancakes, pie, comfort food, booth conversations. Now? It's a Japanese hibachi grill. Full circle. Same building. Different era. New memories. The Experience The food? Good. The prices? Fine. The atmosphere? Great. The service? Okay. But the chef? The chef was the absolute star. He didn't just cook -- he entertained. He engaged everyone at the table. He made it a show. He made it a celebration. That's what you want for an 18th birthday. The fire. The chopping. The jokes. The crowd reactions. You could see my grandbaby soaking it in. And that matters more than anything. The Vibe It's one of those places you go when you want: * Food cooked right in front of you * A little drama with your dinner * Laughter at the table * An interactive experience It's not just eating. It's participating. And honestly? Watching generations sit around that grill -- remembering Shari's from back in the day while celebrating 18 years of life -- that hit different. Time moves. Buildings change. But family dinners? Those stay sacred. My Flava Rating 8 Flava Snaps I'd recommend it for anyone wanting a fun, entertaining, cook-at-your-table experience -- especially for birthdays or group celebrations. The chef carried the night.
