I like that the tables have teriyaki sauce in a bottle so you can pour over your rice to your own liking. Comes with the standard iceberg, lettuce salad. I work around the corner from this place and have been here many times. The staff are always friendly and the food is good and quick. I ordered the lunch spicy teriyaki and an order of the crab rangoon. They even give you a bowl of soup. Usually I avoid ordering crab rangoon because it's bland and just not worth the calories or cost. But at Wild Ginger, they are delicious and totally worth it. You should try them! As soon as I walked in I felt comfortable, due to the cozy decor and welcoming staff. They had a large selection in their menu, which made my job of deciding more difficult. The teriyaki place in Auburn that I have been going every week since March 2020 is under new management and has made some changes, so I'm on a quest to visit all of the teriyaki places in Auburn/Kent/Renton to find my new go to. Came here after Top Golf knowing it was one of Yelp Washington's top restaurants. I will immediately say that the service is above and beyond which makes Wild Ginger memorable. On our way out, we even had the door held open for us which was completely unnecessary but demonstrated exceptional service and friendliness. Beyond that, prices are fair with portions and there's a parking lot. Location is also decent. We snagged four teriyaki plates and a bento box. All items might come with soup, not sure but we all got offered egg flower soup or miso soup which was a warm welcome. We were also offered fortune cookies after our meal which was a nice gesture. Chicken & Katsu Teriyaki Combo - it doesn't look like much but the protein definitely helps fill you up. Good teriyaki sauce and great katsu sauce. Fairly viscous. While I thought the teriyaki was pretty standard, the katsu was very tender and nearly melted in my mouth. It's been years since having teriyaki so I'm gonna fess up and say my expectations are probably too high for any teriyaki joint. My taste buds have expanded and dare I say um, become more sophisticated, so I don't know that any place in this genre is going to get a fair shake. The main thing was that it was too salty. Even with two scoops of rice, it wasn't enough to balance out the saltiness. And while getting miso soup as part of the meal was nice, the green onions were brown from sitting in the soup for too long. It'd be so much better if it was floated on top when the soup gets poured into the bowl. It takes 3 extra seconds. Visited recently for the first time craving some mongolian beef. My siblings gave Wild Ginger high accolades and that was enough for a visit. It was late at night, I was in the Renton area and didn't want chic fil a for the hundredth time this month, and potbelly's was closed so I came onto yelp actually and found this gem. I walked into this little "hole in the wall" shop right across from Bank of America and was greeted with a bright white smile and warm welcome of the young lady (who's name I don't remember) who was working the counter . Ordered the spicy teriyaki chicken and short ribs. My meal was done in under 10 minutes and there were probably 15 other people there eating/waiting as well. As I looked around I was met with nothing but big smiles, genuine laughter and conversations and not a single person unattended or taken care of. We picked up our order at Wild Ginger to go after calling in on Saturday at about 1:30. This was a good time to pick up our food because the lunch rush wasn't too busy. We ordered their chicken katsu and their spicy chicken teriyaki. These are our go to's-we have these about twice a month. Their katsu is crispy and the sauce that they use for the spicy chicken teriyaki has a nice kick! We love the dressing that their salad comes with to boot-it is good for both their greens and for their teriyaki. While we have gotten our food to go from them a couple of times, we would love to dine in one of these days. I've said many time teriyaki ain't my bag, but it's close to Chinese and with the lack of Chinese restaurants sometimes you have to compromise. I had chicken an gyoza, it came with a couple small scoops of rice and salad. The salad was pretty sad, without a doubt the weakest side salad I've been served. No veggies, just lettuce and the dressing was watered down. I like places that serve a sesame ginger dressing, it really wakes up your taste-buds. The gyoza was really good. I would have likes it steamed and fried better than deep fried, but everyone is lazy these days. The chicken could have been a little more flavorful and moist, but it wasn't horrible. I'm going to assume they make their own sauce, It wasn't too sweet, but it had a different flavor. In the end, this place is better than the average spot, but it's not life changing and that what the current score eludes to. I think this place is a 3, leaning towards 3.5, but since Yelp doesn't allow half ratings, I rounded up because service was so good. That said, I'll probably come back to try the Chinese dishes. Usually, when I would order fried rice elsewhere the shrimp would taste rubbery. This place knows how to cook shrimp correctly! No rubbery taste. She was so pleasant and attentive to us. I ordered the 3 meat udon combo and my friend ordered the teriyaki chicken and magnolian beef combo. We were allowed to sit outside and we ate there. There was sooo much food, I had to put the rice to the side and waste it pretty much. The food was pretty good but it was a little on the sweet side so I added some spice to it. I've always thought of teriyaki as cheap and easy, but they've turned it into an art form here. The beef teriyaki was tender, hearty, and not too sweet. General Tao's chicken (a.k.a. Tso's & Tsao's) is my go-to favorite, so I've had it from many places, and they've truly done it justice here; sweet, savory, and a little hot. I noticed on their menu that you can add heat for an extra charge, so I'll be trying that next time. My partner devoured the Honey Walnut Shrimp, which I also tried; crunchy, sweet, and utterly delicious. On the side, we had miso soup and egg drop soup. I couldn't help but finish both for us. Jenny also threw in some "little treats," pork gyoza, which were...you guessed it! Delicious. Everything was literally the best we'd ever had.
