WOW. Ok, all the Yelp reviews were incredibly positive but we were trying to not have our expectations too high. Luckily, we couldn't have imagined the joy that was meeting us on the other side of our order. We ordered a gyro salad, a gyro sandwich, and Greek fries. We did not realize exactly how much food this was until we received the other! My husband's gyro sandwich was delicious and filling. My gyro salad was HUGE and I couldn't even eat half of it (don't worry, I have another half in the fridge for tomorrow!), and the fries were to die for (seriously, that garlic sauce? Feta? Fries?! SO GOOD). We were thrown by lamb crumbles (we usually see lamb in slices), but it was not a concern at all. I just wasn't impressed with this place. It has great reviews maybe I just picked the wrong things. The dolma tasted old and the rice was an odd brown color and the rice was hard like they were older. The shawarma I have had many of these in the past and this seemed more like an oversized chicken burrito to me. I did DD and maybe that was a bad call as it was cold by the time I received it. I just didn't even eat it. The chicken and dry and looked beat up. The shawarmas I have had in the past were in a similar wrap had the pickle and are juicy and have more sauce to them. Special Heroes Fries are amazing. However utensils and napkins were not available as requested. Gyro was ok, could've been better. Absolutely incredible. The meat is tender, tasty. Huge, satisfying portions. I got the europlate and it comes with the rice. The meat a little salad but the most impressive thing is how they give you so much of the tzatziki sauce. Sometimes other places can be a bit stingy with their sauce, and give you a dollop. If I opened a Middle Eastern restaurant I would be tempted to put gyro in the title because that is the closest thing to Middle Eastern food that most Americans know of. The gyros here have an off seasoning that I don't care for. So gyros are not their best dish. Shawarma is the closest thing to gyros in the Middle East. I prefer Arabic shawarma over gyros. Gyro Makers has the absolute best chicken shawarma I have ever eaten. They have a very nice Arabic chicken shawarma wrap. They also sale a humus plate covered in chicken shawarma. First off this Gyro Makers used to be a food truck, but have now opened a storefront. It was a little confusing seeing the previous pictures of the food truck as they now have a brick and mortar store in the strip mall across from Wendy's in North Benson Center. The place was small, no frills, but relatively clean. I ordered the lamb and beef plate which is identical to the gyro plate...with the only difference being you get hummus instead of tzatziki sauce. For $1 more it seemed like a good deal. All plates and salads come with a free can of soda. Overall, the food was flavorful and tasty. Prices seemed higher than normal at $16.99+ tax for the plate..but willing to look the other way due to inflation. A few observations during my visit. The rice seemed to be luke warm and prepared ahead of time in a container. The meat also was taken from a previously prepared container and not shaved off the spit like I'm used to. The food was still tasty but you could tell it wasn't cooked to order and the rice was a little hard. Will be back to try other items! read more

A hole in the wall with good food. I particularly like the chicken gyro salad, and have ordered it a dozen times over the past couple of months. The greens well tossed, and have always been crisp. It was a huge meal, easily enough for 2 people. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The lamb and beef were also perfectly seasoned and tender. The salad was so, so delicious, perfect combination of ingredients. I am particular about my sauce, and this sauce was amazing!! It came with a nice wrapped warm pita that was soft and fresh. Agree with reviews that say "delicious food"! Surprised at the quality of food at this strip restaurant. The hummus was very smooth, garlicy, and garnished with olives and a little sprinkle of pepperoncini. Seved with tender, warm pita. Delicious! The babaganush was also very good. We tried the gyros sandwich and the chicken shwarma sandwich. Both were works of art, large and overflowing with crispy lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, meat and sauce. I had the Arabic gyros sandwich wrapped in a grilled tortilla. Easier to eat and also fabulous. The falafel was very crunchy on the outside and very tender inside, with a wonderful dipping sauce. Came here last Tuesday and got a bunch of Gyro sandwich's and Greek fries. Place is quiet and conveniently surrounded by other food stops and Fredmeyer grocery store. Fries we're addictive (10/10), so much so that we came back yesterday to try the Sweet Potato(6/10) and Special Heroes Fries(9/10). Gyros were good(7/10), not the best but not the worst. This time we also tried their chicken Shawarma plate(8/10), beef/lamb Gyro plate(7/10) and hummus plate(9/10). All so good and the plates are such great portions that were probably going to stick with plates from now on. Service was quick and staff funny.
