Looking for a delightful afternoon tea experience? This isn't the spot! But if you're in the mood for a quick snack and a chance to explore a variety of teas, then this place is perfect for you! You can pop in without needing a museum ticket, so why not take a break? The dining area boasts stunning views that make every moment worth it. The menu features café-style bites--think scones and other yummy treats that you can grab at the counter alongside freshly made hot foods. Don't forget to order your tea at the counter and enjoy a self-service tea tasting right in the cozy dining room. It's a casual, fast-paced tea experience that' delivers a beautiful view.

Lovely tea tasting of 5 original teas from the Boston tea party. This was a highlight of our trip because my teenager loves tea. See photos for the different flavors. They also had iced tea, sweet tea and a flight of whiskey tasting.

A recommended stop. Come for the tour or even just to sit in the tea room and enjoy the tea tasting with the atmosphere. The five tea available for tasting was decent. I came with low expectations due to some reviews and as someone who has had good teas. But all five teas I had was right on in terms of what they are - the taste, the finish, and the color. I was impressed for a $4.50 bottomless cup of tea. The scones were delicious and a nice snack. Didn't get to do the tour since weather was rainy and cold but looking from the tea room, seemed fun and good opportunity to learn the history behind in all.

I was literally in tea heaven!! I love tea and this was on my list when planning this trip. We didn't go on the tour, instead we went to the tea room and sampled the teas they had available. The sampling is $4.50 and refillable during your entire stay. The tea is hot and all were good. They have both green and black. The only one that was not to my liking was the Souchong due to the smokiness of the tea. It literally was like drinking a campfire. The tea room gift shop is AMAZING. SO MANY tea pots and cups and teas. I had such a a hard time making decisions. The staff was super friendly and the place is clean and organized and so appealing to the tea lovers like myself.

We were visiting Boston with our small dog and had this attraction on our list. We called ahead, and a wonderful staff member assisted us with answering our questions since we had our dog with us and needed to plan accordingly. We learned that we did not need to do the museum tour or pay admission to solely enjoy Abigail's Tea Room, which was our preference on this visit. We were traveling by car and in need of parking, and Abigail's Tea Room's website provided detailed information and recommended parking garages nearby as well as information for validated parking for visitors. The tid-bit of information that we were most thrilled to receive was that Abigail's Tea Room has an outdoor back patio that is dog friendly to well-mannered, leashed dogs, with permission. We're very grateful they allowed our dog to join us on this lovely visit! The tea room is charming and offers a variety of historical teas and a small menu of food items. It's cafe style where you order and pay at the counter and collect your items when ready. We enjoyed their 5 historical teas sampling, an order of their cranberry orange scone, and a chicken salad sandwich, all of which were delicious. Loved the view from their back patio/deck, too. This was a fantastic visit and a fun and informative way to immerse yourself in the events of the Boston Tea Party. It's definitely worth a visit!

It is a must stop! 1. Tea I am not sure of the authenticity of the 5 tea that was thrown away and its taste as we try it today, but I like the idea. It is also self-service and bottomless. However, no one drinks hot tea bottomless much and it is actually quite Bad tea! I was disappointed with all 5. I guess Chinese sold their worst tea to America back then. 2. Bakery - very good cinnamon scone here is legendary! Those who know the authentic taste of cinnamon scone, this is the one. Decade or so ago, before Panera bread was bought out by Krispy Kreme owners they used to have a good cinnamon scone, remember? This is the taste! All their bakery items taste amazing! 3. Service: self-service. You pay and go to the dining area and help yourself 4. Ambience: old school house like 5. Store and gift shop has good items too All in all, a must stop in Boston!

I came here with a friend from out of town on our visit to Boston. Parking nearby seems challenging; I'd recommend taking the free Silver Line Bus and walking about 8 minutes from the Courthouse stop. You do not require a reservation or a ticket to go to the Tea Room and you can get into the gift shop from the museum on your way to the Tea Room. We got the bottomless tea (without a souvenir mug) for approx $5. There were 5 types of tea to try (2 green, 3 black) and these are the exact - modern attempts at an exact teas that colonists drank during the colonial - revolutionary war era. Each tea includes a small info card about where it originated from and historical context about individuals who drank this tea. You are able to sample the 5 teas to find your favorite (mine was the strongest black tea that had a unique smokey scent and flavor!). They have a liquid tea dump if you really don't like a tea and are encouraged to just dump and move on to another tea. I recommend sampling a bit of each tea until you find the one you like the most and just getting a full cup of that. Overall 5/5 on the tea tasting for the price and what a unique historic experience! Pumpkin muffin 5/5, not overalls sweet, reminded me of a less sweet version of the pumpkin bread from Starbucks. Soft and fresh. There are employees dressed up in colonial attire who can answer historic questions you have. This overlooks the Tea Party Boat and the water which is very nice and a lovely way to spend some time.

I thought this would be kind of gimmicky overpriced unremarkable food. I was totally surprised that the food was good - clam chowder and broccoli cheese soup, tea platter and some cookies. The service was friendly. There are all the colonial vibes. It was a great stop for tea to give my teens a full Boston tea party experience. Well done!

Brief Summary: - Located on a bridge (so cool!) - The ticket booth is for the tour of the Boston Tea Party - Entrance to the building first leads to the gift store - Further on the left, there is the way to the snacks and tea tasting - Recommend the tea tasting with a mug This museum is located on the middle of one of the bridges in Boston, and it's close to the pier. While it is on the water, it is not on a ship; it's mostly a building propped up alongside the bridge, so no motion sickness or shaking about. The entrance was tricky to figure out, especially if there is a flock of students lining up in front to buy tickets. We were focused on eating and drinking tea, so we slithered through the crowd and entered from the two double doors. Inside, we are welcomed by stuffs related to tea: teapots, tea cups, tea bags and tea leaves, Boston Tea Party historical replica items, and so on. We bought some tea bags after the visit. Leading into the back on the left hand side, there is a doorway that leads to a narrow suspended bridge to the backside of another building. Once inside this building, this is Abigail's Tea Room. This vast building has dozen of tables to sit down, and on the other side of the building, separated by a wall, there is the counter to buy snacks and drinks. We went up and chose the tea tasting, and the staff handed us a mug. Inside the seating area, there were 5 tea dispensers of different tea leaves and temperatures. The hottest one was on the rightmost side and it grew to "easy to drink" temperature on the left. This is intentional as the staff explained, however, all of them were warm to hot. The easiest to drink, or the tea that was most familiar in taste to me was the two teas on the left. They were light and smooth tongue feel. The middle one was alright and then the two on the right, those tasted very roasted. I would associate this one as tree bark -- but that doesn't sound very good does it? I'll say it was an acquired taste. I loved how this tea tasting was like an 'all you can drink' as long as you have the mug in hand. We were able to relax after walking for blocks in town, so this was a comfortable moment. Since we sat near the windows, we were able to witness a group of students attending the Boston Tea Party tour on ship anchored beside the building we were at. It's impossible to hear what the tour guide was saying, but it looked like an informative and interactive tour experience. An additional side note, we went our ways for another walk around Boston and returned back here to try more of their tea. On the second visit, we tried the iced tea. This, however, didn't have the robust tea flavor as the tea tasting dispensers, so I would suggest sticking with the hot teas.

Alison M.

Absolute five stars all the way! What a fun thing to do after attending one of the tea party tours! I believe you don't even need to do a tour to come upstairs and have some snacks and tea. But, since I did do the tour on a recommendation from a local friend, and I love tea, I wasn't skipping the chance to do a tasting of the 5 colonial tea types thrown into the Boston harbor on 16 December, 1773. When you come upstairs it smells wonderful - they're making fresh cookies and scones for sale and you can certainly smell them! It's very cheap to do a tasting at around $5 for unlimited tea and $8.95 to include a cute little souvenir mug. They have a nice bathroom and the seating area is large and neat with walls of windows overlooking the bay and free wifi. I sat here for about an hour charging my phone, drinking warm tea, warming up, and going through photos from the day's adventures. Loved it! The teas are all wonderful and delicious with some green teas, black teas and others. I'm sure everyone can find one they love and creamer and sugar is available as well.

Lovely experience and a must for any history buff. Getting to read about and try the original teas that were tossed in the harbor was very cool. The refillable cup was only $4.50 and they have souvenir cup options, beer and canned cocktails, and snacks as well (all counter service). The gift shop is worth a stop too!

After the historical tour @bostonteapartyships, we went to Abigail's Tea Room and for $3.99 get a mug to try the historic teas thrown overboard back at the Boston Tea Party. There were 2 green teas: Singlo and Young Hyson Green Tea. The Bohea is similar to Lipton Tea. Congou was a little heavier. Then Souchong was from Fujian province, where my family is from. It was like smoky charcoal to smell and taste. What a budget way to enjoy and learn history!

Ask the Community - Abigail's Tea Room

Are there gluten free options?

Does Abigail's Tea Room take reservations? If so, is it using an online site OR do I just pick up phone and call? I would like to make reservation for lunch in October.

They weren't taking reservations in May when I visited but you can always call them and ask.

Can you visit the tea room without purchasing admission into the museum?

Yes you can! I highly recommend the tea tasting - which is 3.99$

I'd heard of Sam LaGrassa's for years but had never managed to make it there. My first introduction…read moreended up being at a corporate event in Boston's Seaport district, where lunch arrived courtesy of one of the city's best-known sandwich shops. The catering was impressive. Before anyone even took a bite. Every half sandwich was individually wrapped and clearly labeled, with salads and sides neatly organized, making it easy for a large group to grab lunch without the usual catering chaos. The choices were wide and varied. We took our lunches upstairs to a rooftop seating area overlooking the Seaport, which made for a pretty great setting on a beautiful afternoon. I chose the Gobbler, and it lived up to the hype I've since read in other reviews. At first glance it sounds like a Thanksgiving leftover sandwich, but it's much more than that. The turkey was fresh and flavorful, and it was complemented by stuffing, cranberry sauce, spinach, pepper jack cheese, and just enough chipotle mayo to add an unexpected kick, without overwhelming everything else. It's one of those combinations that sounds busy on paper but comes together remarkably well. I spoke with several others over lunch, and they were equally impressed with their choices. That's always a good sign when you're feeding a crowd. It's one thing to make a great sandwich to order; it's another to deliver dozens of them catered while maintaining that level of quality. Since this was catered, I can't really comment on the restaurant itself. The service on the catering side, however, was evident in how thoughtfully everything was prepared and packaged, and the rooftop setting where we enjoyed lunch certainly didn't hurt. Needless to say, this won't be my last Sam LaGrassa's sandwich. I fully intend to visit the restaurant one of these days, and in the meantime I'll spend some time trying to recreate that Gobbler at home (maybe with sliced roasted chicken, but also with turkey when I have it). It was that good.

He ate his fresh and liked it enough to want to go back. He felt it was big enough to split into 2 meals, which is a plus since the prices here are pretty steep. I had mine cold, so I didn't like it as much. The tomatoes made the bread soggy, but the sandwich was packed with pastrami. The pickles they give though... so good and a perfect bite in between each sandwich bite or a good lil snack at the end. I like how they pack everything for take out. The boxes are secure, they don't skimp on the sauces and wrap them in plastic wrap and the pickles are in mini ziploc bags to ensure the juices don't spill on everything. Very thoughtful packaging. Since I ordered for pick up, they do have curbside where you double park out front and they can bring it to you, or you can run in and tell them the name it's under and they'll hand it to you when ready. For a Tuesday afternoon, service is not fast nor slow. The inside of the restaurant gave deli vibes, which I personally like. It's quite busy and they have some cool signs and photos up. I'll definitely be back to try it fresh!

Walking through the front door is like walking through a secret portal to Italy (I'm not kidding). The smells and sights of fresh meat hanging from the ceiling is what I imagine heaven to be like! I ordered the Italian sub. First of all, it is HUGE in both length and circumference. One sub can easily be split between two people. The bread-to-meat ratio is perfect. I could taste each individual ingredient with every bite, which is a unique experience that only happens when everything is fresh and flavorful as can be. I think this place just ruined subs for me because no other will come close to being THIS good. If I were on death row, this sandwich would be part of my last meal. I feel like I cannot adequately put into words just how amazing it is. Do yourself a favor and check this place out sooner than later! :)

Setting the base are oil, balsamic vinegar, lettuce, tomato, pickles, hots, and provolone. Italian sandwiches usually come flat-stacked or in a C-shape. Here, it's a fluffy stack, with the VERY-thin-sliced-to-order meats-- prosciutto, mortadella, salami-- piled generously but delicately, like tissue paper. The staff is so nice and it's Boston, low key all around. I'd like to officially put my bid in for the seasonal Korean "Good for the Seoul" BBQ sandwich to find a home on the permanent menu. It just ended in July and I am heartbroken. My taste buds are piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissed to say the least. It was the sandwich that dreams are made of: soft (yet firm) seeded roll, thin fresh cooked chicken cutlets, cabbage slaw, pickled carrots, gochujang BBQ sauce and sriracha mayo. I stood in 85 humid sunny Boston heat for 20-25 min for it. Yes, it's that good. It's heaven on a bun! I've gotten the Drunken Parm, the Hogan, and the Caprese as well. All solid and delicious. I've never gotten one I didn't like. They are pleasant and open to customizing them as well. i.e. no lettuce, extra onion, BBQ on the side. I'm also not sure how, but Thomas the cashier remembers my name every time. That's SO impressive. I mean, I know I don't blend like most, but still, my name among all those people all week long at all the locations? I feel honoured to say the least. Seriously. I didn't get a picture of the BBQ sandwich because honestly, I had devoured it before realizing I should have. whoops. I did get a pic of the Hogan and will post that soon. The good: All of it. and I mean ALL OF IT. You can opt to get chicken, eggplant or one cutlet of each if you're feeling swanky. The location - this is good and bad. Good right by my building and bad that it moves down to Dewey Sq other days. BOO! The bad: The line. They open at 11:30am at Rowes Wharf and there is a line that starts to form at 11:15. I got there today at 11:20 and there were 8 people ahead of me. I might bring a lounge chair with me one of these days. The cost. I personally don't feel it's outrageous. It's a food truck in Boston on the Wharf and it's phenomenal. However, that said I think it's at the cap of what I would spend. I feel it's worth it for what you get. it's $15 for 1/2 and $20 for full sandwich. Pro Tip: psssst, get the full and take 1/2 home. Or eat it if you can't control yourself. I won't berate you for that. I don't consider it bad, but some do.. they cap you at 4 sandwiches per order. If you want more, get catering. And invite me over. Cheers!

Upon Entering there was already a line two people before me. 1 waiting for food and the other waiting to order. The workers were busy making subs. and it took about 5 min before the 1st guy got his food, the 2nd guy ended up leaving ordering nothing. After he got his food I waited another 11 minutes just standing there, every so often an employee would look at me and one finally said they would be right with me. over 10 minutes is too long. One issue I had was one of the workers a female was sweating profusely while making the food. dripping from her forehead down her nose and hitting the table. Her shirt had sweat all on it. I got a different employee that made my food thankfully , but I keep thinking about this and dont want to go back, this is a food safety issue. Its disgusting to be honest. This was my first time going there and I am a local.
